Hotels in Qianmen (Front Gate) and Chongwenmen Commercial Area, Beijing

My family and I drove to Beijing, and the first hotel we stayed at wasn't great. So, the night before, we came to check out this hotel. The front desk staff were very diligent and showed us the room types. We were very satisfied and immediately booked two rooms, deciding to move in the next day. The next afternoon, we went to the front desk, originally thinking we might have to wait a bit to check in. However, a male staff member at the front desk was very flexible; he upgraded us to a better room, and we were able to move our luggage in immediately. The check-in process was quick and efficient, and they even gave our two kids souvenir fridge magnets, which they loved. Our whole group decided that whenever we come to Beijing in the future, we'll stay here. The rooms are much more spacious than other hotels, the bathroom has a separate wet and dry area, and the vanity is large, which is very convenient for ladies to do their makeup. The hotel is located right on Qianmen Street, a quiet spot in a bustling area. The entrance is very clean and spacious. There's also a laundry room with a paid service (2 washes, 2 dries), which is very convenient for changing clothes.

Extremely satisfied! The front desk service was incredibly attentive and thoughtful; they even helped us with our luggage all the way to the intersection. The snacks and drinks available right outside the hotel were also plentiful, so we didn't really need to go out of our way to find Beijing's specialty foods. I originally wanted to book the Mandarin Oriental, but they didn't have enough rooms and it was quite expensive. After staying here, I feel it's a perfectly viable alternative to the Mandarin. Qianmen Street is right outside the entrance, with all sorts of century-old shops practically at your doorstep. The location is truly excellent. While the rooms aren't particularly luxurious, the Courtyard-style (Siheyuan) decor is spot-on, giving a strong sense of old Beijing. There was a minor incident where a school group staying at the hotel for the flag-raising ceremony got a bit excited early in the morning and ran around the hotel. However, the hotel staff apologized sincerely and proactively offered a breakfast discount, handling it very well. Plus, you can wear ancient costumes for free photos, which was a fantastic experience! If you don't take too many, there's no extra charge at all. Overall, this stay was absolutely perfect. Thank you to the hotel!

Facilities: Decent, has most things, but the mirror light was unresponsive when pressed. Cleanliness: Average. The walls were quite dirty, but tolerable. Environment: There's construction outside the hotel. I requested a room not facing the street, which was much quieter. However, the path to and from the hotel is messy and inconvenient to walk on – you have to watch your step. It's about a 10-minute walk to the subway, and also very close to the Temple of Heaven Park – about a 5-minute walk from across the subway exit. It's pretty convenient for getting around, but if you're tired after a long day and want to be in the hotel within a minute of exiting the subway, you might want to skip this one. There's a snack place nearby called Tiangongyuan Xiaochi with delicious steamed buns; I particularly liked the preserved vegetable (meigan cai) ones.

This is one of the best-value hotels right in the center of Beijing. The Hotel is located in the city center, but in a surprisingly quiet neighborhood — perfect if you want convenience without the chaos. Very affordable prices. Spacious, clean, and well-maintained rooms. But the real highlight is the lobby… It feels more like a library café than a hotel. In the evening, you can sit there in total calm, read a book, work on your laptop, and enjoy delicious coffee… made and served by a robot. And yes — if you order delivery, another robot brings it straight to your room door. The area is also great — surrounded by restaurants, shops, and fruit markets, everything you need within walking distance. If you're looking for a clean, comfortable, budget-friendly stay with a unique touch — this is a great find.

The young lady at the front desk during the day was incredibly enthusiastic. My husband and I, two seniors, had two large suitcases, and she helped us carry them downstairs. She even waited with us for our ride-hailing car and helped us load them in. We really can't thank her enough! The location is great; turn right out of the main entrance and there's a delicious Shunde restaurant. The food is fantastic! The hotel's location is truly excellent, though the only drawback is the lack of an elevator.

Apart from the renovation which we were told beforehand, the room we had was dark (probably because it was a windowless room), humid, aircon wasn’t strong but they provided a fan. Could smell urine even with the toilet seat covered, toilet door was closed, to a point that i was awaken by the foul smell. Had to spray perfume to have it barely covered. Ventilation was super bad. Cons aside, service was good, fridge in room had free drinks. Would recommend to book a window room if you had to even though friend that stayed in the window room said it was bad too. There’s a mall few minutes walk away which was a plus. Good view on the reception floor too.

Hana House Yudao | A Hotel I'd Return to for the 'Xiao Rizi' Experience For this trip to Beijing, I chose Hana House Yudao in Qianmen Xianyukou. My conclusion upfront: I'd come back a hundred times for the 'Xiao Rizi' intangible cultural heritage handicrafts. Location: Tucked away in Xianyukou Hutong, it's just 100 meters from Qianmen Street, making it incredibly convenient for shopping and dining. There are tons of historic eateries around, so you'll find whatever you're craving. 🛏️ Room: Newly renovated, spacious, and very comfortable. The only minor drawback is that the room window faces the kitchen vent of a century-old breakfast spot next door. Occasionally, there's some noise and a whiff of cooking oil – a small price to pay for the lively atmosphere of the old city. 🎨 The Absolute Highlight – The 'Xiao Rizi' Intangible Cultural Heritage Handicrafts: This was truly the highlight of my stay! The activities were incredibly varied – Song brocade gourds, Song brocade ponies, brocade fan bead art, mugwort hammers… I was making something different every day and just couldn't stop. The experience was absolutely fantastic. A special shout-out to Teacher Xiaobai! She was so patient and gentle, teaching us hands-on. Her attitude was so wonderful that I felt like giving her an award. Even with zero experience, you can create impressive pieces, which is incredibly satisfying. I've stayed at many Hana House hotels, but the 'Xiao Rizi' activities at Yudao are the most thoughtfully curated and closest to my heart. I'll definitely return for this dedication to craftsmanship. Before I left, they even gave me a sachet and a Dragon Boat Festival bracelet, along with some Beijing pastries as a farewell gift – so thoughtful! Summary: Excellent location + comfortable rooms + divine handicrafts. I'll just consider the noise from the vent as the morning soundtrack of old Beijing. 🎵

This stay exceeded my expectations, definitely five stars! The hotel was clean and refreshing overall; there was no strange smell when I entered the room, and the bathroom was spotless. I slept incredibly well at night. The staff were friendly and responsive to requests; they even provided an umbrella when my friend didn't have one during the rain. The location is convenient, close to Dashilar and Tiananmen, making it easy to get around and find food. The facilities are complete, with plenty of hot water, and it offers great value for money. I'll choose this place again for my next trip and highly recommend it to everyone! Cleanliness: The hotel's cleaning was exceptionally thorough. The floors, countertops, and bathroom corners were all sparkling clean, the towels were soft and odorless, and the toiletries were complete and effective. The room had good lighting, a spacious and unconfining layout, and a mattress that was just right – perfect for a good night's rest. The service was attentive throughout, with staff actively helping with luggage and directions. It was quiet and peaceful, making for a comfortable and relaxing stay. Among similarly priced options, the quality here is outstanding, genuinely recommended!

My sister and I stayed here together. The front desk service was incredibly thoughtful; they even called my parents since I'm underage when we checked in. During our stay, they were very responsive to all our requests, and the amenities were also very comfortable. It's really close to Tiananmen Square and the Temple of Heaven, and getting a taxi is super convenient.

The subway access was a huge plus, making it super convenient for getting around. The hotel's amenities felt very smart and modern, especially the TV with its one-touch screen mirroring. The bedding was really comfortable too. Overall, I was very satisfied.
