As one of Suzhou's renowned hotels and an attraction in itself, the Pan Pacific Hotel has clearly put a lot of thought into its environment. It has created a beautiful Suzhou garden-style landscape based on the outlines of ancient Wu Kingdom architecture, making us feel like history isn't just a display, but that we're living inside a freshly painted ink wash painting. Wooden planks form bridges in the corridors, bamboo paintings adorn the walls, and when the wind blows, it's as if you can hear the clear ringing of ancient Wu eave bells – not noisy, yet full of sound. The in-house restaurant offers yellow croaker noodles, which are a bit pricey, but the fish is fresh and delicious, and worth trying with the small noodles and side dishes. The only downsides: when I called, there was a wait without an answer, and the staff training regarding the management of guests' personal belongings in the rooms needs improvement. I highly recommend visiting the hotel's architecture; it offers a concrete experience of Suzhou's ancient江南 (Jiangnan) charm.

🌸 A sunny March is the perfect time for flower viewing. Carrying a slight regret from our last trip and a lingering fondness for Nanxiang, we embarked on this Nanjing journey, with the Nanjing Shangri-La, of course, as our first stop. 1. **Location**: The hotel's location is superb, right next to Xinmofan Road Metro Station, making it incredibly convenient to reach all major attractions. It's also very close to Xuanwu Lake, just a few minutes' walk away. Strolling along the lake, with willows swaying and flowers vying for attention – the dazzling tulips, the blooming crabapples (some green, some red), and especially that expansive cherry blossom grove. From a distance, it looked like a pink mist. A gentle spring breeze would bring a shower of cherry blossoms, petals fluttering down and scattering, softly carpeting the earth in pink. The peach blossoms were not to be outdone, white, pink, and crimson, blooming profusely on the branches, attracting countless busy little bees and adding vibrant color to the lakeside spring. 2. **Room**: We stayed in a lake-view suite again this time, and I'm grateful to the Horizon Club staff for arranging a high-floor room. The room was clean, tidy, spacious, and bright, with a large living room and bedroom. The floor-to-ceiling window offered a side view of Xuanwu Lake, which was a slight pity. There was no separate walk-in closet, the luggage rack was rather high and narrow, and the bathroom toilet wasn't smart and wasn't separated, all indicating the hotel's age. However, the room service was commendable. They were always responsive, not only providing a luggage rack and a drying pole but also bringing a pot of orchids, which added color to the room. When we mentioned that the welcome dessert wasn't very good, they immediately replaced it with cherry blossom cupcakes and chocolates the next day, which was very thoughtful. 3. **Dining**: The hotel's 'Jiangnan Wok' restaurant specializes in Huaiyang cuisine and is a Black Pearl two-diamond establishment. The restaurant has an elegant ambiance, and the waitstaff are all polite. The 'Clear Broth Lion's Head' was fragrant, soft, and melted in the mouth, while the 'Huaiyang Soft Wok Eel' was silky smooth and tender, our absolute favorite. The unexpected surprise was the 'Stir-fried Beef with Brisket Fat' – the beef was tender and aromatic, with excellent wok hei. Being spice lovers, we also ordered the 'Jiangnan Wok Maoxuewang,' which was also excellent. The large chunks of eel and generous shrimp balls showed no skimping on ingredients, and the flavor definitely rivaled external Sichuan and Hunan restaurants. Personally, I found the pan-fried buns just okay. The 'Xiao Xian Rou' crispy pastry reminded me of Shanghai's fresh pork mooncakes, but felt like it lacked a bit of juice. Breakfast at the ground-floor buffet used to impress me, but this time, the taste felt a bit off compared to before. The 'Jiangnan Wok' breakfast selection was rich, the duck blood vermicelli soup was very fresh and delicious, and the handmade soup dumplings were also good. The beef potstickers had a fragrant filling, but the crust wasn't crispy enough. The bread and pastry section had a variety of choices, but the taste felt average, especially my favorite caramel egg tart, whose crust was soft, almost as if it had been microwaved. The Horizon Club breakfast is semi-buffet style, with a la carte options available. The pan-fried salmon was exquisite and delicious, and the duck blood vermicelli soup was generously portioned and very fresh. The restaurant's bread station even had a small toaster, allowing guests to heat their own bread, which was a thoughtful touch. However, I felt the standard had declined compared to before; the Eggs Benedict were solid, the beef in the Nanjing beef noodles was tough, and the steamed buns in the steamer were sometimes not hot, affecting the taste. Although the happy hour offerings were quite rich, the taste was average. Even more unbelievable, we found plastic wrap in the food – this shouldn't happen at a Shangri-La brand hotel. Nevertheless, the service attitude of the staff, whether in the ground-floor restaurant or the Horizon Club, was still very attentive and enthusiastic. I also encountered an unprecedented issue at the gym. For two consecutive days, I was stopped at the entrance because the staff said my room card and room number didn't match. Later, the duty manager likely issued a new room card, but it canceled my previously noted late check-out, causing me to be unable to enter on check-out day, which was quite embarrassing. Although the gym operates 24/7 with room card access, the restroom is shared with the pool, and it's unavailable after staff leave at 11 PM, which is inconvenient for guests who come to work out late. In summary, this stay brought me both joy and sorrow. I hope the hotel can strengthen its training and management to reach new heights and become a landmark of Nanjing, a place one thinks of when Nanjing is mentioned!

The hotel's location is a bit small, and parking can be a hassle, though the staff did help guide us. Now for the complaints: First, there's absolutely no artificial greenery or landscaping as advertised. The subway construction outside is very loud, and the soundproofing in the room is terrible! Also, the 'afternoon tea' is just some tea bags for you to brew yourself – no cakes or anything like that. The room key card next to it shows how tiny it all is. Honestly, they shouldn't even bother offering it!

Centrally located in Xinjiekou, this hotel boasts an excellent location, making it convenient to get around and perfect for shopping! The service is incredibly attentive; Manager Fang from the VIP hotline provided professional and meticulous service with a warm and thoughtful demeanor. She was proactive and thorough throughout, always responding and following up on every detail. Before my stay, Ms. Fang noticed from my social media that I was traveling with a baby and thoughtfully left a message saying she would arrange for children's amenities. These small touches truly made me feel at home at Jinling Hotel, showcasing their high-quality service and leaving a lasting impression. The concierge was also very polite and helpful with luggage. Jinling Hotel will definitely be my top choice for future stays!

Location: This hotel is a landmark in Xuzhou, right in the city center. It's incredibly convenient for visiting the Confucius Temple and Pengcheng No. 1, and also close to the 1818 Night Market. You can even see these attractions from the hotel rooms. Getting to the subway station across the street requires a bit of a walk around to the traffic light, so we mostly took taxis, though you can also walk to Hubu Mountain and Huilongwo, exploring all the way to the museum and Yunlong Mountain. Facilities: There's a swimming pool, but we didn't use it. Cleanliness: Tidy. Service: I was initially worried that the front desk being on the 42nd floor would be inconvenient, but there's a dedicated elevator to go up, so it didn't feel like an issue at all.

Choosing Andu Hotel for my trip to Suzhou was such a great decision! The location is fantastic, right near Guanqian Street and Shantang Street. Scholar Street, with all its amazing food, is just outside, and the subway station is a short walk away. The room was spotless, the bedding super soft, and the soundproofing was excellent – I slept like a baby. The front desk staff were really friendly and even gave us complimentary bottled water and drinks. The hotel has a really stylish design, perfect for photos. It's great value for money, and I'll definitely stay here again next time I'm in Suzhou!

AAnonymous User 2026.04.04
I stayed in Yangzhou for two nights, and my impression of the hotel and the city is quite similar: a mix of good and bad. First, there was no welcome reception. The male front desk staff, even when there was no one checking in, didn't look up or greet me. It felt like he was waiting for me to approach him eagerly, without even a simple ”hello.” He didn't offer any information about the hotel facilities or guest benefits. I had to ask where the elevators were after checking in, and even then, his directions weren't clear. I even had to call the next morning to ask where breakfast was served, and the executive lounge was never even mentioned. Furthermore, I had pre-booked dinner at Xiang Palace for 7:30 PM. I arrived at 7:25 PM, and a female receptionist sharply scolded me, saying, ”We called you three times, but you didn't answer.” I asked when they called, as I hadn't received any calls. She confidently replied, ”Seven o'clock. Because there was a table available then and you weren't here, it's gone now.” (So, my time is at her discretion?) She then told me to wait aside. Realizing what was happening, I immediately said, ”I'm not eating here.” When I provided feedback to the restaurant manager the next day, they gave me a dismissive ”heh-heh” smile and a cold shoulder throughout. After returning to my room, I called the service center to express my strong dissatisfaction with the issues mentioned above. The person on the phone first apologized politely and enthusiastically, offering to compensate with dinner at Xiang Palace and re-explaining the hotel facilities. During this, they mentioned that complimentary travel photography was a guest benefit. This was my third point of frustration, because my Trip.com package didn't include travel photography, and since I was staying alone, I wouldn't be using the complimentary breakfast for two. So, before checking in, I tried to contact the hotel to ask if I could exchange it for other benefits, like lunch/dinner or travel photography. The hotel firmly refused at the time, stating that travel photography was a third-party service, not provided by the hotel. I had no issue with that, which is why I hadn't planned for travel photography or brought any makeup or clothes. And now you're telling me it's an inherent guest benefit? Later, the hotel offered a room rate reduction, but it required me to cancel my Trip.com order and re-book, which I flat-out refused due to my annoyance. After this, the hotel surprisingly started giving me the cold shoulder, even to the point of not answering calls or replying to WeChat when I needed a paper bag before checking out. (This is why I decided to give less than three stars.) However, when checking out, the hotel offered to drive me to the station as I couldn't get a ride to catch my high-speed train. Well, you can make your own judgment. Personally, I can't give a good review because I wasted half a day of my less-than-three-day trip. So, I'll give it a three-star rating, a mix of good and bad. (Deduction points: significant deduction for the front desk impression, and the female receptionist at Xiang Palace was an additional negative factor.)

First off, I have to acknowledge that the night view from the InterContinental's high-floor 'Cloud' night-view rooms is truly beautiful. The in-room facilities are a little dated, but that's understandable for an older, established hotel. What I really want to complain about is the breakfast. The breakfast itself isn't bad; there's a good variety and the taste is acceptable. However, on a Sunday morning, heading down for breakfast just after 10:00 AM, I actually had to queue to get in. I can understand a crowd, and guests are usually fine with waiting, but what did the staff member at the entrance who was scanning cards mean by asking if I minded sharing a table with others? Do guests staying at the InterContinental, who presumably value a certain standard of living, normally want to share a table for breakfast? The complimentary 78th-floor 'Cloud' afternoon tea was also very mediocre. It only offered very ordinary coffee drinks and a perfunctory, unappetizing strawberry cake that couldn't be swapped. Even bringing an extra friend didn't allow for an additional cake. The coffee shop didn't even have milk or creamer pods. Plus, when we first arrived on the 78th floor, the hostess seemed completely spaced out and looked very surprised to see us. If it's a cloudy day, there's nothing to see from the 'Cloud' panoramic restaurant on the 78th floor anyway – I guess that's just bad luck on my part. I think it's time for the InterContinental to improve its service standards.

The Sheraton Changzhou Fuli Hotel boasts an excellent location in a bustling commercial area with plenty of shopping malls and restaurants nearby, making it very convenient for going out and shopping. The room was clean and tidy, the bedding was comfortable, and the soundproofing was good, so I had a great rest. Jackson provided warm and efficient service, and check-in was quick. XXavierasyI booked a suite for 2 nights at the Courtyard by Marriott the night before I came from Xi'an because I wanted to visit Niushoushan, Jinling Xiaocheng, and other tourist spots nearby. The location of the Courtyard is actually not bad; it's right beside the Hedingqiao metro station, and many food booths and convenience stores are just downstairs. You can buy takeaway at any time. The reception staff is nice and helpful and can speak very good English, no doubt. The worst was the concierge. One of the concierge staff has been playing on his cellphone every single moment. I took Didi or the metro at least 4 or 5 times every day. Every time I pass through the entrance, he is playing on his phone. The most frustrating part was when I ordered takeaway through the app. The delivery man said he placed it on the concierge cart right next to that guy, but someone took my package, and he didn't notice. YEAH, How could he possibly know if he was preoccupied with his phone ?!

HHan - JunThe hotel is new and very clean. The front desk staff are friendly and always willing to help, even though I’m a foreign traveler. The location is truly excellent. The hotel is right in the Pingjiang Road area—one of the most beautiful and famous ancient streets in Suzhou. Just step outside and you can enjoy a relaxing walk along the canals, admire traditional houses, and explore charming cafés and small local shops. It’s also about 3 km from Shantang Road, around a 15-minute taxi ride. At night, the area lights up beautifully, creating a very charming atmosphere.

GGuest UserI booked Hanyuan because it is within walking distance to my folks home. And my grandma used to work at Nanjing Agricultural University, which the hotel is affiliated with. I read others’ reviews and knew it is an old facility. I did not have unrealistic expectations. We arrived late at night. Taxi driver dropped us off at the side entrance that has numerous stairs to the door. We had lots of luggage. As we got out of the cab, we saw some staff member in the lobby looking out. Instead of coming out to help us, he walked away. My husband, myself and our seven year old all carried/dragged multiple items up the stairs to get into the hotel lobby. We checked in and decided that we would need to add a bed for the kid. House keeping came quickly to set up the bed but was reluctant to provide pillows for the additional bed. I had to repeatedly ask before they agreed to bring an extra pillow. Don’t understand why there is such resistance to equip the additional bed with pillow- after all, we did pay for the additional bed. Everything else was pretty good during our first three-day-stay. We then went away to visit families elsewhere for a week before coming back to this hotel. This time, our car drove onto the ramp at the front entrance. As soon as we entered the building, lobby manager came to offer us help. He helped us deliver luggage to our room. We are very appreciative of his assistance. We ran into some issues at the front desk this time. They asked for our passports again and took our pictures for a second time. When I mentioned that we were just here a week ago and all information was taken already, we were told that all information has been erased as we checked out. When we checked in/out the first time, we informed front desk that we were making the hotel our base camp and will be coming in and out a few times. It’s strange that they would delete our information and redo everything all over again. Again we need to add a bed. House keeping brought a roller bed which has a stained mattress pad. I asked them to bring a clean one, they said they could not. They said they didn’t have any clean pads. They said the only option is to remove the pad and put the sheets directly on the mattress. They further suggested that since the sheet is clean, dirty pad doesn’t matter and that every mattress pad under bed sheets has urine stains. His words made my stomach turn but I was too tired to fight so they went ahead put sheets on top of the mattress pad that has a big yellow stain. Again I asked for pillows for the additional bed, they refused at first, upon my insistence, they agreed to bring pillows. They also took out a blanket from the cabinets under television and put it on the bed. When the seven year old was ready for bed, I opened the blanket and realized it’s cover is dirty. It’s dusty and has multiple stings of hair on it. I called house keeping, a lady quickly bought over a clean duvet cover for the blanket but refused to take away the dirty one. She insisted that we keep the dirty duvet in the closet. I did not understand her rationale but there isn’t anything I can do. So that dirty duvet cover stayed in the closet. Maybe I should not have come back to this hotel.

From 石路 metro Exit 12, just walk straight across to Exit 1 and you will reach the shopping mall. The room is spacious and clean. Bed and pillows are comfortable. Bathroom is clean and spacious with strong shower pressure. The only issue is the shower temperature is not consistent as it may change from your desired temperature to sudden high heat then shift to chill mode before returning back to your desired temperature. That said, the stay is still comfortable with drawing factors such as accessible to transport, food, coffee, bakery and shopping but still away from the hustle and bustle, unpleasant smell or noise to have a restful sleep.

GGuest UserOverall, it was okay. The room size was pretty average, and the facilities were a bit basic. However, for the price, the value for money was decent. Parking was a bit inconvenient; the basement parking lot was small, though its proximity was fine. One really big issue is that you absolutely shouldn't stay in the northernmost rooms on weekdays. There's a kindergarten right downstairs, and they start blasting music through loudspeakers early in the morning, making it impossible to sleep in. 🌚 But I really have to praise the breakfast – for a hotel in this price range, it was excellent.

The breakfast is excellent, with both Western and Chinese options, and the ingredients are fresh and plentiful – definitely not just an afterthought. The room facilities are also top-notch. Even though Nanjing was foggy and rainy with nearly 100% humidity during my stay, the bedding remained clean, dry, and soft, without any damp or sticky discomfort.
