Heading to Paris? You will probably using the Paris Metro quite a lot! It is one of the easiest ways to travel around the city, connecting many of Paris's most famous attractions, shopping areas and neighbourhoods.

In this guide, I will show you how to use the Paris Metro including map, operating hours, ticket prices, travel passes and how to take the metro. Once you know the basics, getting around Paris will feel much easier!

Paris Metro Map

The Paris Metro has 16 lines numbered from Line 1 to Line 14, with additional Lines 3bis and 7bis. The network covers Paris and several nearby suburbs, making it easy to reach many of the city's top attractions.

Each line has its own number and colour on the Paris Metro map, so it is relatively easy to follow once you know the route. You can also find English information on the ticket machines and through official transport apps.

Some useful Paris Metro lines for travellers include:

  • Line 1: Travels through central Paris and stops near the Champys Elysees, Lourve Museum and Arc de Triomphe.
  • Line 4: Connects several major areas and is useful for travelling between Gare du Nord, Chatelet, and Saint Germain des Pres.

Paris Metro Operating Hours

The Paris Metro generally runs from around 5:30am until approximately 1:15am from Sunday to Thursday.

On Friday and Saturday nights, as well as the eve of public holidays, the metro usually operates later, until approximately 2:15am.

However, the exact first and last train times vary depending on the line and station. If you plan to stay out late, always check the timetable for your specific station and route.

Late Night Transport in Paris

If you miss the last metro, Paris also has the Noctilien night bus network, which operates after the metro closes.

The night buses generally operate between approximately 12:30am and 5:30am, connecting major train stations and other areas across Paris and the Île de France region.

I was moved by the beauty of the 19th-century mansion, the view from the large terrace was stunning, and above all, the high level of hospitality made me feel comfortable. Upon leaving, I forgot one of my bags due to a lack of checking, but they called a taxi and delivered it to the airport. I had to wait in line for almost 30 minutes to check in, as the staff member handling the transition between shifts did not seem to notice or prioritize new arriving guests. I'd recommend opting for rooms 30sqm or larger. The standard rooms, much like in most French hotels, are cramped, and I wouldn't suggest the family rooms due to their tiny bathrooms. The executive rooms, at over 30sqm, offer a much more comfortable and spacious stay, feeling open and not at all constricting. Breakfast has a good variety, and the freshly made eggs are decent, but the overall food quality is just average. Given the high proportion of Chinese guests, it's a good value-for-money option overall.

The cleanliness was generally good, although I did notice a few hairs in the shower upon check-in, but everything else was quite new and clean. Breakfast was very mediocre with limited options. The front desk service was good; as a registered member, I was able to check in early, and they proactively arranged a courtyard view room and a fountain view room for us. The only downside was that there's only one elevator, which meant waiting.

Overall, for a hotel in Paris, this one offers good value for money. Although it's located in the 12th arrondissement, which is a bit suburban, the proximity to the metro station makes it very convenient. It's only two stops to the famous Châtelet station. The room wasn't small either. It seems like many Accor brand hotels are in this area. There are supermarkets and restaurants nearby. However, finding a laundromat was really difficult and far – you'd probably need an electric scooter to get to a residential area about 2 kilometers away. What's highly recommended is their gym. It occupies the entire basement level and even offers free apples for an energy boost. There's a wide variety of equipment, and the dumbbells come in a full range of weights, including heavy ones. There are also different small rooms for individual workouts, along with separate restrooms and shower rooms. My biggest disappointment was their breakfast. Even though the ingredients seemed high-quality and possibly organic, paying nearly 200 RMB per person and not finding anything that suited a Chinese palate and was healthy was frustrating. There were no leafy green vegetables, just some very basic, raw cabbage hearts. Some of the cold cuts were surprisingly unappetizing. The staff also seemed very rushed. I only found out after leaving that you could ask a server for coffee. The only thing I'd recommend is the freshly made omelets – bring your own vegetables to get enough protein. Taste-wise, it was honestly not as good as Hampton by Hilton. Another overall impression is that hotels in France don't have the same warmth as those in Belgium, and the English proficiency was slightly inferior. Don't even expect any Chinese-speaking staff.
