The biggest pros of this place are the beautiful surroundings and view, as well as the comfortable bed and the very pleasant room decor. The cons were the noticeable sewage smell and the lack of a hairdryer – it wasn't even possible to borrow one from reception. The price of the stay is quite high relative to the amenities offered. Breakfast at the restaurant (with a choice of a few options like scrambled eggs, omelet, or oatmeal) is included in the price, but it's only served from 9:00 AM, which meant we couldn't take advantage of it.

If you're planning to stay here, make sure to contact the accommodation about their shuttle service right after booking. The road to the property is a dangerous single-lane dirt track up a hill, especially for tourists who aren't used to driving in such conditions. On the other hand, the property itself is beautiful with truly stunning views. It has all the amenities you could need, but the one downside is that the internet is incredibly slow and practically unusable. One staff member, who I believe was named Yerso, spoke English well and was very helpful. However, the rest of the staff weren't particularly friendly towards foreigners.

The hotel was surrounded by lush greenery, and the room was clean and warm. It had everything: a toothbrush, bathrobe, and slippers. BREAKFAST IS A SEPARATE STORY! It's served in a yurt, which is very atmospheric and unique. Everything was fresh and delicious!

I arrived in Almaty late at night and had a connecting flight the next morning, so I was looking for a hotel close to the airport and ended up here. It's about a 20-minute taxi ride from the airport, and there isn't much around in terms of amenities. However, there aren't many hotels that close (within 20 minutes) anyway, and there's a convenience store just a 5-minute walk away. The facilities themselves were also perfectly fine, which was a plus. The only downside is that the breakfast provided in the morning is quite meager, so don't expect to fill up before heading to the airport. If I ever have another overnight layover at Almaty Airport, I would definitely consider staying here again!

My stay at VELA HOTEL in Almaty was fantastic! The hotel is brand new, with clean and tidy rooms and sparkling new facilities, making for an exceptionally comfortable stay. What surprised me most was how welcoming the staff were, and they could communicate directly in Chinese, which is incredibly convenient for Chinese travelers. The breakfast quality was also good, and its proximity to the airport made everything very hassle-free. I'll definitely choose this hotel again next time I'm in Almaty – highly recommended!
