The room size is adequate, and the hygiene is impeccable, with a full range of toiletries provided. The front desk staff are very friendly and offer helpful tips on local attractions. It's very close to the Qinhuai River, and the night view there is absolutely stunning. It's also convenient for getting around and dining. Overall, it was a great experience, perfect for tourists.

I just checked out and couldn't wait to leave a review because of two highlights. First, I got a free upgrade to a duplex room. The hotel saw I had a child with me and upgraded me to a duplex suite for free, which made me feel very cared for. My parents and child had a very comfortable stay! Second, the hotel has a rich cultural heritage. There are guided tours available for booking, lasting one hour each. Following guide Xiao Zhang to visit the Chiang family villa and walk through the 571 Project tunnel was truly the second highlight of this stay – it was really excellent!!!
Also, the hotel's back door opens onto Shiquan Street, which is super convenient for dining and a great place to explore!
Although the hotel has a long history, it doesn't feel old or dated at all. Instead, its 'veteran cadre' vibe everywhere truly puts one at ease. Friends visiting Suzhou should definitely consider this hotel!

Guest UserThe room facilities are incredibly advanced, clearly designed with great care, blending classical and modern aesthetics. The garden view from the window is as stunning as a scenic garden, and taking photos here is just as good as Humble Administrator's Garden.
The hotel service was excellent, special thanks to Haitang and Canglan! We initially parked our car under the Crowne Plaza Hotel, but the staff helped us drive it up and park it under a shaded tree. They also kindly extended our check-out time to 2 PM for free.
The hotel's noodle restaurant was also delicious, truly deserving of its Michelin-level Suzhou-style noodles. Hotel guests even get a 12% discount, and the staff even helped us get a queue number. Thumbs up! 👍
In the evening, we enjoyed the complimentary Martini special drink from the hotel. It had a very pure, authentic dry martini taste, and a drink at night was truly refreshing and heartwarming.

Service: I stayed here during the May Day holiday. The front desk contacted me in advance to confirm my estimated arrival time and proactively helped me with my luggage to the parking lot. After a brief chat, my booked courtyard room was upgraded for free to a third-floor river-view king room. The Qinhuai River was right outside the balcony door of the living room. The staff also kindly informed me of the best viewing times and explained all the room's amenities.
Environment: The hotel's location is excellent, peaceful yet central. The room was meticulously clean, and the public areas were bright and tidy.
Value-added services: The minibar offered complimentary drinks, snacks, and two facial masks. The public area on the first floor provided a variety of traditional Chinese clothing for guests to use for free photos, including Hanfu, horse-face skirts, and qipaos. They were varied, clean, and suitable for women of all sizes.
Breakfast: Breakfast was a semi-buffet, featuring the hotel's special noodles and Nanjing's local pastries and cold dishes, all quite rich and delicious.

MD2024This time, I stayed at Mo Keyuan from August 14th to 15th. When I was choosing a hotel, I was quite surprised to see Mo Keyuan had nothing but glowing reviews. After staying there, I realized that both its facilities and service are indeed exceptional.
**Ambiance & Location:** In terms of its location, it's merely 50 meters from Pingjiang Road, and within comfortable walking distance of Humble Administrator's Garden, Lion Grove Garden, and Suzhou Museum. It's also nestled in the same alley as the famous Zhuo Lin Li Tang Zhou (a traditional dessert shop), just 20-30 meters away, and shares an adjacent alley with Couple's Retreat Garden. This geographical positioning is simply superb!
The hotel itself is a numbered private garden with five interconnected courtyards, boasting exquisite rockeries, ponds, and bridges. Its design is incredibly intricate, offering distinct scenic views with every turn. Guanhuatang, a key hall, is the central room in the innermost of these five courtyards. The front desk is located in the first courtyard, exuding an antique charm. Upon entering the second courtyard, you're greeted by a misty, ethereal atmosphere, providing a refreshing coolness on hot days and adding a wonderful artistic touch. The third courtyard houses the banquet hall, while the fourth and fifth are dedicated to guest rooms. In reality, this compound is far more complex than it appears, with the unique asymmetrical structure typical of Suzhou gardens revealing many delightful surprises.
**Cleanliness:** Everywhere I looked was impeccably clean. Unlike other Chinese courtyards I've stayed in, at Mo Keyuan, all areas (except guest rooms and staff offices) are openly accessible. Furthermore, the furniture inside is exceptionally well-maintained and clean, giving the impression that they are actively used daily. The rooms were subtly pre-scented with incense, and the bathrooms were also spotless.
**Facilities:** Mo Keyuan boasts comprehensive facilities, offering both dining options and captivating Pingtan (Suzhou storytelling and ballad singing) performances. Guests can enjoy these performances for free, held in a charming small hall in the second courtyard, which serves as both a restaurant and a performance venue. The performance hall is very well-equipped, featuring background projection and automatic stage curtains, truly showing great attention to detail. Furthermore, before checking in, I was somewhat concerned about security. However, upon arrival, I found that the visitor and guest areas are effectively separated by access control, ensuring both privacy and safety.
**Service:** The service was incredibly attentive. The butler was always ready to answer any questions and had an excellent, friendly attitude. Every staff member had a great service attitude and was remarkably patient. Due to a last-minute change in our itinerary, we only decided quite late that we wanted to have lunch at Mo Keyuan the next day. However, the butler arranged it perfectly, and we got to savor the Squirrel-shaped Mandarin Fish and Crab Roe Tofu we had hoped for. The hotel's shuttle service was even more convenient, saving us precious time and effort when visiting the Humble Administrator's Garden, Suzhou Museum, and Lion Grove Garden. We also had the pleasure of meeting the garden owner this time, who was very approachable and clearly poured their heart and soul into managing this exquisite garden.
**Daily Pingtan Performance (2 Tickets):** The Pingtan performance was excellent. The young lady sang beautifully and spoke with such gentle grace; experiencing the 'Wu Nong Soft Language' (Suzhou dialect) live was truly delightful. The performance also included complimentary Biluochun tea and homemade mung bean cakes, making it a truly enjoyable experience. I'm extremely glad I chose Mo Keyuan this time. My only regret is not being able to stay an extra night to spend half a day simply wandering around the garden, sipping tea, watching the fish, and relaxing – that would have been utterly tranquil and perfect.

Guest UserDuring my recent trip to Suzhou, I had the pleasure of staying at 'Shantang Shuxiang Residence'. It's a tranquil oasis tucked away from the bustling city; just ten steps out, you're amidst the lively streets, yet within the hotel's courtyard, a sense of peace envelops you. I distinctly recall a sweltering day with heavy traffic, but thankfully, a rickshaw from the street corner whisked us through the alleyways with refreshing speed.
The hotel's garden isn't large, and our room was in a charming two-story wooden building. The elegant room was spacious and tidy. I particularly appreciated the firm bed, which allowed for a comfortable night's sleep without any back pain. All the toiletries were Bvlgari, and there were even books on the desk for a quiet read.
Before check-in, I added the butler on WeChat, who arranged a rickshaw to pick us up and even provided fresh fruit and afternoon tea. Later, when the AC in our initial room started dripping, they promptly moved us to another room without any fuss. The front desk staff were warm and greeted us every time we entered or left. What touched me most was during breakfast, my child accidentally threw away their retainer with some waste paper, and the restaurant auntie, without hesitation, sifted through the trash to find it for us – a special thank you to her.
Though the breakfast was simple, it was well-balanced and satisfying. The chicken noodle soup was excellent; my son even had two bowls. Since the hotel is located within a scenic area, there are plenty of eateries and snacks everywhere. This place perfectly blends the convenience of city life with the elegance of a garden, making it a top choice for a visit to Suzhou.

The overall environment and facilities are pretty good, definitely commendable. The staff provided quality service even during the Spring Festival, which is great. The only minor drawback is that the hotel's hardware is a bit old; the air conditioning unit is quite bulky, and when the bathroom's ceiling and wall lights are on at the same time, there's a noticeable and jarring electrical buzzing sound. I hope they can improve this in the future. The kids' play area is fantastic. Overall, it's worth recommending.

The flower arrangements in the lobby are beautiful, and the five-spice welcome gift is a unique touch. They also have freshly ground coffee and fruit tea. The front desk staff were attentive and processed check-in quickly. They were also very responsive to any needs I had. The location is super convenient, close to the subway station. Deji Plaza is right across the street, where you can check out the famous 'internet-famous' restrooms and the art museum.

Posted on Aug 19, 2026|Elegant Residence Double Bed Room (Pingjiang Road Nearby + Comfortable Interior)
Duanxiandefengzheng~This was my second stay at Pingjiang Lodge, probably because my first experience left a good impression. This time, I booked an Elegant King Room, which was in the same building as the lobby. It seems to be an older building, and the overall maintenance is decent.
However, some details were a bit frustrating. The bathroom wasn't a wet/dry separation, and showering in the bathtub was really unacceptable, especially since even nearby budget hotels have wet/dry separation. I asked the front desk if I could switch rooms, but they said nothing was available. I even offered to wait for a room to open up, but was still told no vacancies.
So, I had to make do. Around 10 PM, the air conditioner started making a strange noise. A maintenance worker came, and it got a little better, but it was still quite loud. Around 11 PM, the front desk offered to move us to an upgraded room, which was a good recovery effort. However, moving in the middle of the night was quite a hassle. We were moved to what I believe was a Tanhua room type, which was much better overall. But, the air conditioner was still incredibly noisy. At that point, I just gave up and didn't want to move again. The room's layout wasn't great either. For example, after showering, you had to walk to the sink to get a towel, then go to another area to dry your hair, but the comb was back in the shower area – it just felt a bit illogical. Still, for the price, it was generally acceptable. The breakfast also wasn't as good as before, and the amenities were replaced with large bottles. Also, when I returned after going out, I wasn't sure if the fruit on the table was placed there during turn-down service. I feel that if staff need to enter the room, they should try to inform guests beforehand.
