AAnonymous UserThe name may give you some illusions, but it is actually a standard motel. Many rooms are hard to find at night, but the location is good, close to the lake. The interior of the room is standard and the hygiene is good.
AAnonymous UserIt's a small resort with a nice environment. The only downside is that there's no elevator for the second-floor rooms, so you have to carry your luggage up. On the bright side, the second floor offers a great view of the snow-capped mountains. There aren't many supermarkets nearby, so you'll need to go to the city for groceries. However, there's a pretty good restaurant just across the street. Overall, I highly recommend it; it's clean and hygienic, which is a big plus.
FFabio’s CocoonI spent a night at Adventure Taupō Hostel and I can say it's one of the best hostels I've ever stayed in.
The place is brand new, and it shows everywhere: everything is ultra-modern, spotless, and perfectly maintained. The welcome was excellent, with very friendly, smiling staff who were always ready to help.
The kitchen is simply exceptional. It's probably the best-equipped backpacker kitchen I've ever seen: very clean, huge, with tons of storage space and all the necessary equipment.
The common room is also very pleasant, perfect for meeting and chatting with other travelers.
The rooms are modern and very well designed, with USB-C ports readily available for charging devices, a much-appreciated detail.
Frankly, it's flawless. For the price, it's hard to beat. I 100% recommend this hostel to anyone passing through Taupō.
GGuest UserThis hotel is located near Lake Taupo, offering distant views of the lake. It's also conveniently close to the famous 'plane' McDonald's in town. It's a resort-style hotel with both paid and free parking areas. The single beds, at 0.9 meters wide, are a bit small, but the room itself is quite spacious. I was particularly pleased with the bathroom, which had two sinks, a bathtub, and a shower. The breakfast was plentiful and delicious. The maple leaves outside the hotel were beautiful, and I even saw a rainbow 🌈.
GGuest UserWe stayed one night en route to Hobbiton and liked it so much that we stayed another 2 later in our trip.
Great location, and Cambridge is a relatively easy base to get to other places from.
Beautiful decor throughout, nice finishings and really peaceful.
It was very busy during our stay (around Christmas/NY) so a little wait for food/drinks but that’s to be expected. We had positive interactions with all hotel and restaurant staff.
My only feedback is that the switches in the rooms have blue lights on them, which, for people that like a black-out room, can disrupt sleep. Hopefully an easy fix!
JJoceryThe hotel is in a great central location, making it super easy to get to all the attractions we wanted to visit. The breakfast was really good too, and I appreciated that it was served a bit longer than other hotels, until 11 AM. Plus, there are tons of restaurants nearby, both Chinese and Western, which was very convenient.
GGuest UserWow! We go upgraded to two bedroom apartment which was really handy since it has washer/dryer plus air conditioning in both bedrooms and open plan living area. Very clean and modern apartment with good appliances (Bosch cooktop, oven, dishwasher, washer and dryer). The apartment is sound proofed. They also have 4 varieties of Zealong Tea Estate teas along with the Zealong cups plus coffee pods. The hotel is next to the lake and shops so it’s quite convenient. My only issue is that outside of night time sleeping hours, the air conditioner would turn off by itself after a few minutes. Other than that, I really enjoyed staying at this hotel and would recommend it to others.
KKingjieIndependent cabins, smaller rooms, clean. Kitchens and bathrooms are concentrated in the middle, like a caravan camp. Close to Hot Water Beach, there seems to be no other hotels nearby, you can rent a shovel to dig on the beach
Rreturn visitorA tiny motel, has basic amenities. Didn't know there's a communal kitchen until we were leaving.
It's a good stop over point, but most of the town closes either early or has long weekends, so make sure you have supplies beforehand. When we arrived there there was no reception, had a number and person to ring, the entrance is a bit tricky ”around the back”...yep that's exactly what it is.
GGuest UserA great place to relax and unwind the pools could do with a clean everything else was excellent still can do things even when it rains
Great atmosphere and friendly staff gardens and grounds we emaculate lovey decor and use of their own flowers from the gardens will go again
