Nice stay at Pipa oils Inn inside the Datong Ancient City. The hotel is clean and the staff are helpful, also to is convenient for our visit to Hanging Temple, wooden Pagoda and Yungang Grottoes as well. Datong Ancient City is a beautifully preserved walled town that reflects the rich history and charm of northern China. Once a strategic military stronghold during the Ming Dynasty, the city is surrounded by impressive stone walls and gate towers that give it a grand, historic feel. Inside, the streets are lined with traditional courtyards, ancient-style buildings, temples, and lively shops selling local snacks and souvenirs. Walking through the city feels like stepping back in time — you can admire the ancient architecture, try Datong’s famous noodles and pastries, and experience the relaxed pace of local life. In the evening, the city becomes especially magical, with the walls and streets lit up in warm lights, creating a romantic old-town atmosphere. Datong Ancient City is not just a historical site but also a living town, blending culture, food, and history — a perfect place to slow down and soak in the beauty of China’s northern heritage.

By chance, I stumbled upon a newly opened restaurant called ”Ji Xia Shan” in Datong. I was worried about where to spend my holiday, so without any plans, I impulsively bought a plane ticket and flew over. After a few days, I was very satisfied with every detail. The interior design incorporates the stone carvings and mural colors of the Yungang Grottoes, complemented by harmonious soft furnishings, providing a comfortable living experience that blends with history. My favorite feature was the swimming pool. Since it was the off-season in Datong, there were no other customers at the pool during my visits, making it perfect for someone like me who had only recently learned breaststroke to freely try out the beautiful pool. The lifeguard (I think) even gave me some instructions on how to learn freestyle. It's great to be able to learn swimming while having fun! lol. If I had to point out a drawback, it would be the service, which could be improved. During my stay, I had to explore and ask around to find all the hotel facilities, including the room amenities. The layout and signage, designed for service, weren't user-friendly; relying solely on guests to discover them wasn't ideal. I can only imagine the despair of searching for the pool in the cold wind on my first night, finally discovering it behind a door requiring a key card. Later, I stumbled upon a beautiful tea room and wanted to try it, but after selecting a paid package, I was told the tea master wasn't there and I'd have to brew the tea myself – quite disappointing. However, the team apologized for it, so it was alright. Also, I found an art gallery on my own and was told by a staff member that guided tours were available, but advance booking was required. Ideally, there should have been a brief introduction beforehand, which would have been a good first step in understanding the hotel. Hopefully, this can be improved in the future.

If I were to rate the room alone, this guesthouse exceeded my expectations. Even though I booked a special offer room in the basement, there were absolutely no issues with ventilation or natural light. On the contrary, on a warm winter day, bathed in the soft glow of the lights, it felt like my own cozy little haven. If I visit again, I'd still choose this place. (The lady at the front desk was beautiful and kind-hearted, always willing to help and answered every question with a smile, which truly warmed my heart.) Now for the downsides: breakfast was served about a 10-minute walk from the guesthouse, which isn't a huge deal. However, the breakfast service was a world apart from the guesthouse's excellent service. The staff didn't even lift their heads when we entered or left, completely engrossed in their TV show. And they didn't provide Wi-Fi, which I consider a very basic service, right? Also, could you please avoid serving rotten fruit to guests? The breakfast quality was more about presentation than substance; it looked good for photos, but the taste left much to be desired.

We spent out last night of our trip at Kempinski Taiyuan, and it did not disappoint. The receptionist upgraded up to a room on a high floor with a view of the city. They also gave us fresh fruits and free minibar. They had everything you would expect of a five star hotel, and the location is in a bustling part of the city. Would definitely come back.

Beautiful new hotel. Very friendly staff who offered two gifts to every room during the national holiday. Room felt spacious and luxurious and was sunny and mostly quiet during a very busy holiday period. Hotel restaurant was also delicious with good service. We ate there twice. We also had breakfast everyday of our stay. Very nice quality including lots of local ingredients and choices was fantastic! The hotel is so conveniently located in the ancient city. Walking distance to a really nice cafe with great coffee, lots of restaurants and all the main attractions including pop up laneway markets selling ancient treasures. Honestly, it’s a fantastic hotel and felt worth the price. Wooden furniture, warm lighting, and thoughtfully displayed local characteristics and surrounding information reveal the owner's excellent taste. The bedding was incredibly comfortable, ensuring a sound night's sleep. Even more surprisingly, the soundproofing in the room was exceptional. There was no need to worry about being disturbed by the sounds from the book bar or the street, truly achieving a peaceful oasis amidst the hustle and bustle. 💖 Thoughtful Service, as Warm as Coming Home The front desk lady had a sweet smile and proactively introduced the hotel's features and nearby dining options during check-in. Any questions I had were answered promptly, which made me feel very much at ease. This stay completely exceeded my expectations. It's not just a place to rest your feet, but a healing space where one can slow down and enjoy a moment of tranquility. I highly recommend it to all book lovers, coffee enthusiasts, and friends who appreciate aesthetics! The next time I visit this city, this will definitely be my top choice.

During our road trip, we randomly booked a hotel near the Yongle Palace. As soon as we turned the corner on the way to the hotel, we were greeted by a breathtaking view of the Yellow River, a picturesque scene. We were pleasantly surprised! The hotel is nestled mid-mountain, facing the water and backed by mountains. It feels secluded and private. There's private parking, the front desk is attentive and comfortable, the housekeepers provide attentive service, and luggage is delivered to your room by electric cart. The rooms are fully equipped, clean, and the bedding is comfortable. Our single-family cottage has its own private pool, which the kids loved. We had dinner à la carte at the hotel, and I loved the large Yellow River carp dish. The kids, who usually don't like fish, were eager to try it. The water view in front of the reception hall in the evening was particularly beautiful, especially during the blues, making it a great photo opportunity. The breakfast was perfectly balanced and well-presented. Upon departure, the housekeeper politely said goodbye and thoughtfully provided some local snacks for the journey. Due to time constraints, we only stayed for one night, so there were many things we didn't experience, such as the children's activity center and swimming pool. It's a perfect place for a family vacation. I like this hotel very much. Next time I come here on vacation, I will book a room with a river view and bring my kids to have a good time for a few days.

For this trip to Pingyao Ancient City, I chose the upscale Pingyao Libai Hotel. As expected of a Jinjiang Inn hotel, the entire hotel was spacious and bright, with warm and modern rooms. All the amenities were in place, making for a very comfortable stay. Parking was very convenient for those traveling by car, thanks to the hotel's on-site parking lot, which was in a prime location. The hotel environment was beautiful, and the staff were warm and attentive. Getting to Pingyao Ancient City was easy; it's not far from the West Gate and North Gate, just a short walk away. There are also many dining options nearby in the evenings. Staying at the Libai Hotel when visiting Pingyao Ancient City is a perfect choice!

If you're visiting Taiyuan for food and sightseeing, Fenxi Jiuting is the place to stay! It's right next to Zhonglou Street scenic area, making its location unparalleled. You can walk to all the popular Instagrammable spots and food hubs, so getting around is incredibly convenient. The hotel is clean and tidy overall, with bright and airy rooms that feel spacious. The mattress firmness is just right, and the soundproofing is good, allowing you to relax and recover from your travels. The facilities are comprehensive and functional; the air conditioning provides excellent heating, and toiletries are fully stocked, ensuring a comfortable and reassuring stay. The staff are attentive and discreet, promptly responding to any needs, and the check-in/out process is efficient and hassle-free. The value for money far exceeded expectations!

Honestly, the Superior Twin Room is perfectly fine. The Deluxe rooms are just bigger than the Superior ones, but there's no other difference, and the extra space isn't really utilized. The hotel staff provided excellent service, the rooms were very clean, and the food was delicious (the braised pork, stir-fried pork slices, siu mai, and sweet and sour meatballs were all outstanding). I especially liked the buckwheat pillows in each room; they're perfect for someone like me who can't sleep on high pillows. The front desk gave everyone a beautiful souvenir map. Even when retrieving our bags, the bellhop quickly came over and hurried to assist, which shows that the Garden Hotel treats its employees well, as their professionalism and enthusiasm for service are exceptional. There are several popular internet-famous restaurants around the hotel. You can go down to get a number during meal times, then come back to the hotel and relax, and head back down when your number is called an hour or two later. No need to wait outside the hotel in the cold. I have to recommend a hidden gem: a fried skewer shop near the hotel. It's incredibly tasty, even the coating on the quail eggs is crispy. The spa area is a bit small, with only two scrubbing stations and five showers, but the scrubbing service, massage service, and other assisted bathing services are all excellent and reasonably priced. The staff scrub very diligently. My family member said that the guy ahead of him, after asking about the prices, immediately declared he wanted every service! 😂😂😂 I feel like if I come back in the future, I'll still choose the Garden Hotel.
