The hotel environment and location are very good, but the service is not good, especially the restaurant staff are very unfriendly, the usher position is not good, discriminate against Chinese people. There were also some unpleasant things that happened during the meal, which affected our mood. We had a buffet dinner in the hotel. Before, the buffet dinner in Sri Lankan hotels was charged together with the room. Some restaurants also need to be charged separately a few days after the trip, but they will bring your bill in the middle of the meal and tell you. This restaurant is good, there are many service staff, no service, and they will not refill your water or anything. No one brought the bill in the middle and at the end of our meal. We thought it was charged for the room, so we left naturally. Then the waiter stopped us in a panic like chasing a thief, and shouted that we didn’t pay. It was very rude and impolite. No one wanted to deliberately not pay, but the behavior and expression were very discriminatory against Chinese people and it was very infuriating. Besides, the service staff will only push you to buy wine or drinks (Sri Lankan buffet does not provide drinks). We ordered lemonade, and they told me that it was not available. I said that mineral water would be fine, because I really didn't want to drink drinks, and then they told me that it was not available either (I clearly saw the waiter bring mineral water to a table of white people before, naked discrimination). Finally, I thought that the waiter might need to earn money, so I ordered three glasses of juice. But the process was very unpleasant. This is the only hotel we want to write a review for after staying in so many hotels, just because of these unpleasant experiences.
Personal is extremely friendly! It has always helped! Location is also good only 5 minutes away from the beach!!
But the rooms are unfortunately very old and the bathroom has just smelled after the exit. The bed was also uncomfortable. And there was no room cleaning during the stay.
We would book the hotel again because of the location and the nice staff
Go to the front desk to check in, the manager directly upgraded our room, the service is very good, see you will be polite to say hello, during dinner, the waiter holding a large plate of seafood is selling, 12,000 rupees to 300 RMB, not expensive! Take a bath in the oversized bathtub, and the fatigue disappears instantly without a trace, highly recommended
This excellent hotel is really a resort. It is off the beaten path, but worth the extra travel time to get there. The staff are very friendly and the food at both restaurants is very good. There is easy access to the beach and it’s quiet. We were there for new years. I highly recommend it!
Great location just a short walk from the beach. Dennis was our host when we were there and he was absolutely fantastic, recommended good restaurants, helped organise transport, looked after us at breakfast and made you feel extremely welcome. Rooms are certainly ok for the price you’re paying but refurbishment is needed. Showers didn’t seem to have hot water, air conditioning was great though.

The hotel looks very primising in the pictures, beautiful setting and facilities. Unfortunately we were a bit disqppointed on the way it is managed. It looks like the place is abandoned relying on its own structure and pictures.
Pros:
- beautiful setting and location, in front of a beautiful beach.
- rooms are well done, big bathrooms, nice outdoor area.
- faclities have a beautiful decoration, the bar, the restaurant.
Cons:
- cleaning! The resort has a cleaning issue. To the point that we wrote ”clean me” with our fingers on the restaurant toilet mirror, and it was there during our entire stay. Nothing has regular cleaning, spots everywhere, toilets are terrible specialy the poil toilet (see pictures).
- bar drinks are not good. We tried many drinks and juices in all the hotels we stayed in Sri Lanka, and this one we had to give up, drink after drink, juice after juice, were not good at all. Also the drink glasse come very very dirty.
- bar is beautiful but never had any music during our stay. Its a silent empty place, no one uses it... and the bartender usualy is not there which makes it a ghost place.
- service is welcoming but not prepared. For example before you reach the breakfast area upstairs they ask you: ”what do you want for breakfast? So i dont have to go upstairs to ask”, overall staff is tired, not motivated and have no training, they are as abandoned as the hotel.
- spa was closed during our entire stay, because the lady had days off. So we booked a hotel with a Spa that did not exist...you have to be lucky not to book on her days off.
- when at check-out i tried to tell them the place have lots of potential but they need to pay attention to this details they just replied: thank you for your stay, please make us a review on tripadvisor! So they just don't pay attention... which is sad to see. I wish they could change the management and have someone motivated and energic to transform the place into the best hotel in Sri Lanka, because they could be.

GGuest UserI recently stayed at the Giman Free Hotel and had a unique experience. This hotel is truly isolated, far away from civilization, making it a perfect spot for introverts or those looking for solitude.
While the hotel itself is clean, it is clear that some renovations are needed to update the facilities. However, the staff more than makes up for any shortcomings with their friendliness and willingness to accommodate guests.
The restaurant at the hotel surprised me with its delicious food, which I found to be better than what I have experienced at some five-star hotels in Sri Lanka. The beach near the hotel is clean.
However, the downside of the beach which is very wild and long is the amount of garbage and plastic that washes up on the shore. Since the beach is deserted it was disheartening to see all the pollution scattered along the shoreline.
Overall, if you are seeking a quiet retreat away from the hustle and bustle of city life, the Giman Free Hotel is a great option. Just be prepared for a bit of roughness around the edges of the beach.

GGuest UserMaldives in Sri Lanka.
The sea absolutely beautiful and I enjoyed so much the walking on the endless beach. The staff is amazing , made my solo trip so rich of memories and extra care, done multiple activities and I recommend the dinner in the cellar as they have the best cellar in Sri Lanka , and also a must the dinner on the platform in the middle of the sea! A big thanks for the unforgettable memories , they made me live a dream

JJulianThe common areas are very nice and well-maintained, with stunning views. The restaurant is small but offers very good food. This could be a 5-star property, but the quality of the room, bed, and bathroom needs improvement. Service: Some staff are pleasant, but some are only pleasant if you tip beforehand. The 3-hour catamaran tour, which you can book at reception, is highly recommended.

GGuest UserAt the staff were very friendly. Special thanks to both Robinson and Ruchira!! I was on BB basis and the breakfast was very good! And unlike other places where they offer chicken bacon these guys had the good stuff! Thanks
IIrrushkinA big hotel! We were there out of season. But we were lucky with the weather. We got a big room, but at the end of the building and our 'supposedly' balcony consisted of two chairs on a dirty piece of concrete, behind the beach toilet. Since we stayed for 2 nights, we didn't complain. First they put two towels - we had to ask for the rest. The breakfasts are good, since there are a lot of package tourists, then having lunch in the restaurant for independent tourists is a whole adventure - a separate order confuses the staff and the wait is super long. We did not find any entertainment in the hotel in the evenings. And there is nothing in the area. There is 1 restaurant within walking distance (3+) and that's it. If we came here for more than a couple of nights, I would be upset - honestly. And we were by car, we could have driven ourselves at least to the supermarket. Do not get a hookah in the hotel - it is terrible.
GGuest UserExcellent hotel. Stilt, clean, well equipped room. There are all necessary: refrigerator, tea, coffee, teapot, fan. Daily cleaning in the room, regular change of towels and bed linen. Apart from you, thank you for the excellent service to the guys who carried out cleaning in our room Jerom and Kajanthiran.
Hotels have a beautiful area with a chic pool. There is a gym and play area, bar. Excellent clean beach. The beach is cleaned every day. Good lying with soft mattresses and beach towels are always available. The polite staff at the beach and at the beach bar.
Breakfast is wide, there are dishes for any taste. National and European cuisine. A huge amount of baking, waffles are prepared as you wish. Always fresh seasonal fruit.
Dinner is also diverse, there are both basic and ”day dishes.” These can be seafood on grill, pork, calmar in fry. Different national dishes such as roti or cat. Special thanks to Sudesh and Kalum waiters, they were very attentive and friendly. At dinner drinks, water, other drinks on the menu (as in all other hotels).
The hotel tries to diversify each dinner by inviting different artists to create a cozy atmosphere.
I recommend this hotel for a rest. If possible, choose it again!
