Located next to a gas station, this hotel is in a somewhat remote area of Salzburg. The facilities are decent. The gas station next door doubles as a mini-mart where you can buy water. If you follow the small path beside the hotel and then turn right, you'll find a Chinese restaurant called 'Sunflower' that's pretty good.
This hotel is located on the outskirts of Salzburg, offering beautiful scenery with mountains in the front and a lake in the back. It has free parking and the rooms are spacious with good facilities. There's also a private beach area behind the hotel with lounge chairs for sunbathing.
Close to old town only about 3.5 km by bus and the bus stop right in front of the hotel. Room very clean. Bed comfortable. And quiet. And staff very friendly and helpfull. And mc donal just next door. Love this hotel and love to be back here again sometimes
This is an excellent choice for a trip, offering superb value for money. It easily rivals five-star hotels in cleanliness and hygiene; the rooms are brand new and even feature smart toilets. The complimentary minibar beverages are a fantastic bonus, especially considering how expensive drinks can be in Europe. The location is superb, with plenty to offer. It's incredibly convenient to walk to a park, find restaurants, or visit supermarkets. Breakfast was also excellent. Highly recommended!
The location near Salzburg HBF was the best plus and the service was good! The team got us free transport tickets for one day without us asking and was able to bring us an electric kettle on our request! We have everything we needed for the room, bed, shower and toilet facilities are in very good condition! No problem during our one night stay at all!
It was a really nice, clean hotel with a good price, especially regarding other hotels in Salzburg.
Location is a bit out of the center, but the connections with bus are really good (bus stands near the hotel and goes every 20 minutes or so, you need around 15 to 20 minutes to get to the center). Hotel even provides you a free bus card for the entirety of your stay. There is also Billa shop just opposite of hotel.
The room was clean, the bathroom was nice. The only thing we wondered were if there is A/C in the room for summer. Our room was overlooking the busy street with lots of cars, but the windows were really soundproof, so we had no trouble sleeping.
The hotel was more conveniently located for public transportation (trolleybus) to Salzburg city center than I had expected. Many lines pass right in front of the hotel, and there is a large shopping mall and supermarket next door, where we could easily purchase groceries during our stay.
Despite the hotel being very busy and crowded with guests, the staff at the reception desk and the breakfast restaurant were all friendly and attentive.
The view from the hotel lobby was also very nice.
One neutral point is that the hotel's entrance sign on Sterneckstrasse could be improved. We spent about two minutes walking around the building trying to find the entrance. Perhaps you could consider adding more signage or a clearer indication of where the entrance is?
Unfortunately, I encountered some issues that overshadowed these positive aspects.
Having had a very satisfying experience at a BW hotel in Bologna, Italy (which I hadn’t expected much from since it was just a one-night stay during a road trip, but everything from the breakfast to the bed and interior was fantastic), I had high expectations for this BW Plus hotel as well. Since I visited during a busy tourist season, I didn’t expect an early check-in and everything seemed fine until I entered the room in the evening.
First, I found what appeared to be traces of a previous guest in the toilet—yes, a small spot of something brown. It was tiny, less than a quarter the size of a fingernail, but it was still noticeable. I have poor eyesight and often get scolded by my wife for not noticing things like this.
I also noticed similar dried brown stains on the bathroom floor, which I assumed were the same thing.
The showerhead had limescale and mold, which didn’t leave a good impression. These are issues that could be easily resolved with a bit of bleach, and I thought it would be nice if the housekeeping staff paid more attention to such details.
The most disappointing thing was the pillow filling, which I’ll simply attach a photo of here.
Many guests, especially those from Asia, praised the breakfast highly in Google reviews, so I had some expectations. However, having stayed at many hotels in Europe, I didn’t find it particularly special. In terms of taste, I would rate it around 70-80 out of 100.
(To be specific, I would compare it to breakfast at other four-star hotels like the Grand Hotel International Prague or the Holiday Inn City in Düsseldorf)
In conclusion, despite these issues, I still want to give the hotel a 4-star rating.
This is because I was able to book a room just two weeks before my trip for a rate of around 150 euros per night, which is quite reasonable during peak season in this area. I am confident that with a little more attention to cleanliness and room hygiene, this hotel could quickly improve its customer satisfaction.
Despite the concerns about hygiene, I was overall satisfied with my stay at this hotel.
This review is written not as a criticism but as a form of encouragement.
Thank you to the staff and management at the Best Western Plus Amedia Art Salzburg hotel.
The hotel is showing its age, evident from the rust stains on the window railings and the chipped enamel in the bathtub. Even a small fridge would be a more contemporary amenity, considering a minibar isn't an option. But then again, it seems Salzburg as a whole is decades behind in terms of hospitality development. It feels like they're quite content to bask in their proverbial 'drizzle,' seemingly pleased that tourists fall for the pervasive Mozart-themed kitsch and willingly pay shamelessly inflated prices for something that's not even worth a second thought.
The breakfast with a view is definitely worth it! The variety suits Chinese palates well, perfect for those heading to the lake district to grab a meal before setting off.
The location is absolutely amazing. You can spot it right after exiting the train station, and the bus terminal is just downstairs, making it convenient to go anywhere. Dining is also easy; the supermarket inside the train station offers freshly sliced ham burgers and other quick meals, which is super handy if you're tired after a trip to the lake district. To the left of the station, Joanna's restaurant serves Austrian cuisine. Next door is a shopping mall with a supermarket and a drugstore, though it opens late and closes early.
Facilities: For a small town, this room is incredibly spacious! The front desk even asked if I wanted my king bed split or combined upon arrival. The beds here are on wheels and adjustable. There's enough space for two large suitcases, plus a wardrobe – quite unexpected!
Service: I absolutely adore the ladies at the front desk! They helped me so much. It was raining heavily when I arrived, and they were patient despite my many questions. Like most hotels, toothbrushes aren't provided by default but can be requested. Only a large bottle of drinking water is offered, but the hotel's water comes from a mountain spring, so you can drink directly from the tap.
Location: The hotel is located near Salzburg Central Station, about a 5-minute walk from the station. The 150 bus stop is also nearby, making it very convenient for travelers with luggage. While the rooms and reception are not in the same building, they are very close, only a few dozen meters apart.
Rooms and Facilities: The reception upgraded us to a suite. The room was large and included standard hotel amenities, as well as an open kitchen with a stove, dishwasher, and tableware, allowing us to prepare simple meals. The balcony overlooked a quiet courtyard at the back. Overall, the hotel was quiet and clean.
Service: Check-in and luggage storage were handled very well. They provided a complimentary Salzburg one-day pass and proactively upgraded our room. We were very satisfied.

GGuest UserWe lived on the third floor and stayed for six days. The room is small but very clean. There is a special pizza restaurant at the corner of the surrounding intersection that is very delicious, full of locals, you can pack it. Unfortunately, I found it on the last day.

GGuest UserDuring my recent holiday, I stayed at the Hotel Alt Salzburg, and here's my review.
The hotel is centrally located near the train station, offering convenient transportation and easy walking access to many popular attractions and shopping areas. This is a big plus for travelers who enjoy exploring the city.
The room decor features an industrial style, so the walls have a rough paint finish. Whether you like it or not is a matter of personal taste. The bed was reasonably comfortable, and free Wi-Fi, a mini-bar, and a coffee machine were provided. However, there was no kettle in the room, which was very inconvenient for travelers during winter. Although you could request one from the front desk, the cleanliness of the kettles and cups left much to be desired. The open-plan shower lacked privacy and was quite cold when showering. There were also stains on the toilet paper.
The front desk staff at this hotel were quite cold and expressionless, making them unapproachable. I rarely encounter hotel employees who are so indifferent. While they would responsibly handle requests when needed, they weren't very proactive.
Overall, the hotel's location is its main advantage.

GGuest UserThe room itself was very spacious and generally comfortable, so in terms of physical space and basic facilities, the experience was acceptable. However, several service-related details significantly affected my overall impression.
First, this was the first hotel I stayed at in Europe that does not offer complimentary luggage storage, which was very inconvenient, especially for travelers arriving early or leaving later in the day.
More importantly, there was a serious issue regarding privacy and housekeeping procedures. In most hotels, rooms are cleaned only when guests place a “please clean” sign on the door or explicitly request housekeeping. In this hotel, staff went door to door knocking, and when there was no response, they entered the room directly. This felt intrusive and disrespectful of guest privacy, and it was quite uncomfortable. It also seems inefficient and unnecessary for the staff themselves.
While the room size and general comfort were fine, these service and management details were disappointing and do not meet the expectations of a hotel at this level. With better respect for guest privacy and clearer housekeeping protocols, the experience could be greatly improved.
GGuest UserLocated next to a gas station, this hotel is in a somewhat remote area of Salzburg. The facilities are decent. The gas station next door doubles as a mini-mart where you can buy water. If you follow the small path beside the hotel and then turn right, you'll find a Chinese restaurant called 'Sunflower' that's pretty good.
GGuest UserThe breakfast is good, the location is also very good, close to the train station. The front desk and breakfast are opposite the room. There is also a parking lot. There is no car. I don't know how the parking lot is charged.
TTharHtetAung29A bit far from the city center ( 20 minutes ) but otherwise it was very good. I had no choice in the city center so I chose this. Service was top tier.
