Overall, it was satisfying. The staff were polite and friendly. The room was clean and comfortable. If possible, I'd suggest upgrading the TV channels; there were too few options. For guests like us who stay a bit longer, it gets a bit boring because there aren't any good TV programs.
Stayed here during the Chinese New Year period and it was very crowded. The room's carpet, linens, and appliances show a bit of age, but thankfully, the overall visible areas were clean. The location is very convenient, directly opposite Jen Hotel and very close to Komtar. There's a stunning high-rise infinity pool perfect for photos, and water dispensers are available on every floor. The breakfast was quite substantial, especially the freshly made roti canai and toast. The service attitude was also proper and courteous.
Absolutely loved this hotel! The views are incredible, and all the rooms face the sea directly. The private beach was practically empty, and I even caught a breathtaking sunset there. Someone was even having a wedding on the beach – everything was just perfect. The room was quite spacious too. It's truly ideal for a vacation.
The rooms are great and the pool is beautiful, perfect for a 'staycation'. The bar next door has a fantastic fire show in the evenings, and the singer is really good, creating an amazing atmosphere. Breakfast was also delicious.
Had a very pleasant stay at DoubleTree Resort by Hilton Penang. The hotel is very comfortable and family-friendly. My children really enjoyed the kids pool and had so much fun there.
One of the best parts is the direct bridge access to the beach, where you can enjoy a beautiful sunset in the evening. Room service response was also very fast and efficient. Check-in and check-out process were smooth and quick. Free parking is also provided, which is very convenient.
The location is great too, very close to many attractions around Batu Ferringhi with lots of evening activities, food spots and things to do nearby. Overall, it was a wonderful stay and highly recommended for families.

It was from the warm and cheerful bell-hop Yusani to the helpful and thoughtful Asvathy at Check-in Reception, Transportation and Sight-seeing thoughtful and caring Angeline, Diligent Housekeeping Ali to thev cheerful Chanond who sent the birthday cake to our room…and also staff at Cinnamon and Javana Lounge. They all are pleasant and polite. They served with a smile and made us feel welcome all the time. Truly appreciated the warmth and hospitality of this hotel. The breakfast at Cinnamon was impressive, sumptuous and came with a wide variety of choices. We enjoyed our 2 breakfast thoroughly.So, we were happy and glad to have booked our room with breakfast.. There is also a Welcome drink with cookies at Javana Lounge. It was, indeed. a great start to our stay. It should be offered to all guests checking-in. For guests who would like sipping cocktaile by the beach or at Javana Lounge, there is a 20% discount for room-booking with Trip.com. I have been staying at this hotel since year 2000. This time around I really frustrated. We were assigned at unit no.85. The air-conditioner were not fully working. We have to clean the filters ourselves. Imagine a paying guest got to do these (refer the enclosed photos). Then still the same. A Bangladeshi so call the technician claimed that only when there is a complaint he will check, no periodic maintenance, just imagine! Next day we were assigned unit no.87, still the same. So we decided to shorten our stay & leave the hotel on 23/3. Then this Bangladeshi admitted that the owner/management had received lots of complaint from the guest about the room air-conditioner. Nevertheless I must praised Mr Naim & Ms Ayu whom had attended to these issues. They did their very best but it looks like the owner couldn’t be bother. Penaga used to be the best hotel but now no wonder the rating went down. Question here who is going to compensate our losses? Will Trip.com compensate? We paid but we get these rubbish. All I can say stay away from this hotel until they improve it.

The room was spacious, clean, well-maintained, and had a pleasant scent—everything was excellent.
I would like to express my utmost appreciation to the midnight team on 21/03/2026. During our stay, my friend suddenly fell seriously ill during midnight . We attempted to call emergency services (999), but unfortunately were unable to get through to the nearby general hospital immediately. The situation was critical, and waiting another 10–20 minutes could have put my friend’s life at risk.
Thankfully, the Penang Amari hotel team acted swiftly and professionally. They followed up with us, and the female manager along with the guy management team arrived promptly to assess the situation. They provided immediate support and helped arrange transportation to the nearest hospital, ensuring we arrived within 10 minutes.
Thanks to their quick response and care, my friend’s life was saved. And even after check out they still texting us to concern on the guest safety. We are deeply grateful for their kindness, efficiency, and dedication during such a critical moment.

This was our过渡 hotel for the first night in Penang, and they offer 24-hour check-in. We arrived past midnight, but the Malay guy at the front desk was still very attentive. The room wasn't big but felt new with a modern design. Our room type faced the back street, so it was quiet, but it looked directly onto the building opposite, offering no view at all. If a view is important to you, I recommend booking a different room type. The hotel is very close to Toh Soon Cafe and the Peranakan Museum, both within a five-minute walk. The surrounding area is pretty quiet with not many shops.
The room was really spacious and great, and it seemed quite clean. The location, however, was pretty isolated. They have a pool and a ping-pong table, but I hardly saw any other guests. There wasn't much to eat nearby, but the breakfast was excellent, and the surrounding scenery was beautiful.
We booked this hotel because it looked close to the airport for an early morning flight the next day. However, we didn't realize how difficult it would be to get a taxi from there. During morning rush hour, there's only one mountain road leading out, and it gets congested. We called three taxis, and all the drivers canceled. Thankfully, an ethnic Chinese driver finally accepted the ride and didn't cancel – we were incredibly grateful and even gave him an extra tip. Unfortunately, the check-in counter closed five minutes before we arrived, so we had to buy a new flight ticket 😭. This isn't the hotel's fault, but if you're booking this place because it's close to the airport, learn from our painful lesson.

As an antique hotel, its value for money is truly excellent. You can stay for just over 1000 [currency unit]. Online, the Heritage Wing is more recommended, but because of its age, we chose the newer Victory Annexe. Before checking in, I saw some online reviews and was a bit worried, but after experiencing it firsthand, I found it to be quite good. First, upon arrival, the staff at the entrance were very attentive. When our car pulled up, they helped with our luggage, and the luggage was even delivered to our room. When checking in, there was a Chinese-speaking person at the front desk, but it seemed most could only speak English. However, simple English was fine, and they also used gestures, making the process very smooth. The room assignment was also quick. After checking in, the hotel balcony faced the sea. This hotel is quite popular, with all kinds of nationalities, but there was no obvious favoritism towards Caucasians or discrimination against Chinese. Perhaps because I'm someone with strong boundaries, every staff member I encountered smiled and nodded in greeting, which even made me feel a bit shy; there was no coldness. The hotel's location is excellent, very close to the Blue Mansion. You can go for a city walk when you step out – still highly recommended!

It's also close to other tourist attractions, and getting a taxi is quick and easy! We even ran into Chinese celebrity Huang Xiaoming and others promoting a movie at Gurney Plaza during our stay.
GGuest UserThis five-star hotel, priced at a little over 400 [currency unit, e.g., MYR], offers incredible value for money, not just in Malaysia but anywhere. The breakfast is great, and kids eat free. On our departure day, after a quick chat, we were able to check out at 2 PM. They provide unlimited bottled water for the room, which saved us quite a bit. The water park next door is perfect for kids around ten years old, though it gets too sunny in the afternoon to really enjoy for long. The only downside is that the hotel feels like an island; you can't walk to grab a meal or visit a convenience store. The road outside has no sidewalks, so you're constantly relying on taxis. Taxis, taxis, taxis! That was a real pain. On a final note, the hotel pool is fantastic – hardly anyone there and super clean.

The suite has a separate room with a double bed. The pool is clean and there's a kids' pool too. Overall, the room was clean and the bedding was tidy. The breakfast isn't super extensive, but the rice noodles and Teh Tarik (pulled tea) were excellent. There was a welcome drink, and the service was warm and attentive, though I had trouble getting through to housekeeping by phone. The beach isn't owned by the hotel, and while there are boats, it's not ideal for swimming. The area around is very convenient with food options and a supermarket. The Shangri-La is right next door, and there's a mosque nearby, so you can hear the prayers clearly. My room faced the street, and I could hear motorcycles at night.
