The food was very very good in the restaurant and room service! the hotel was very well maintained, the terraces of the rooms were big enough!! The staff was super polite an helpful on anything. The gym was well equipped and it was not full. You do need to have cash for any taxi, as this is the only way to move in santa marta or to rent a car.

A fantastic location centrally situated in the heart of Santa Marta. Yes, there is a bowling alley in the complex, but I never noticed any noise from it (it’s very small 2 lanes alley) The staff is wonderful and spoke English very well, which was helpful. The view was great, the street noises and music was a wonderful atmosphere. I loved this hotel.

For the price the hotel was really good! Rooms are simple but have everything it needs, air conditioning works and is also very important, bathroom is very beautiful and clean was also everything. Breakfast is very good but when many people are there you should go very early because otherwise you can easily wait a while. Most of the staff we found super nice, helped us with some questions without problems :) One manko, somewhere apart, so you go a little in the center (so 5-10 min). However, for the price absolute recommendation !
Blu Hotel by Tamaca

It was an incredible experience and we enjoyed our time at this hotel, it's location is perfect to take different activities such as going to the aquarium and playa blanca, tayrona park and other places. There is a little options for fun and parties and the nights has not quite fun. The hotel is very clean and comfortable, the elevator looks like old and unsafety but you can used the stairs.
Hotel Boutique Don Pepe

My wife and I had a terrific time staying at Hotel Don Pepe for 3 nights last week. Don Pepe is an oasis in Santa Marta as it is the former home of a wealthy gentleman ( Don Pepe!) and his large family vs a commercial hotel chain (while Don Pepe gets the name recognition, the real hero was his wife who produced so many children). This makes it a very special find for those who enjoy the taste of an authentic refined experience. - If you want a trendy (“ bougie” ) contemporary type of hotel to be seen/ check out others this is not it. The rooms were clean, cool, and updated (we stayed in 2 different rooms in order to help accommodate another guest). Beds and linens were very comfortable. The staff were courteous, helpful, and sincere. The small pools were cooling/ relaxing. The location is proximate to everything. Santa Marta is a city where most non Colombian tourists will visit in order to take a day-trip either to the mountains by car and/ or to the beaches by boat vs wanting to hang-out in the city itself. We did both of these day-trips. Specifically, we had a terrific experience with going to the small mountain town called Minca for a coffee, chocolate, eco tour, and we took a snorkeling and beach trip the following day ( the front desk at Don Pepe knows who are the better tour operators). Guasimo is a top end restaurant that is 3 blocks away that requires some planning to get a reservation (the front desk at Don Pepe can arrange this). A special shout-out to Edgar who served us breakfast every day and to both the front desk managers. - Gracias.

Clentelle middle class, upmarket, solo travelers reading books in whicker chairs. Fab pool and luscious plants Owners love animals, breakfast great. Rooms air cor and fan, fridge, Clean peaceful plenty of tables.Quiet at night Shutters on windows for privacy. Mr Vichy is the cat, you see him, we fed him tuna. The owners are quick to rectify any problem, our toilet did not flush, new room given . Outside turn right and your 6 mins from the beach. So clean and great value in Santa Marta. If you don't want street vendors outside then the ONLY option is the enclosed private citadel of top hotel names, which offers no better security than we had. The bus to Cartagena stops outside. This is genuinely an upmarket oasis. It's difficult to leave the pool and luscious vegetation . You can get snacks, e cigs beer from street vendors passing by in seconds. The hotel sells alcohol also. On some nights it offers a dining night, the dining room reminds me when James Bond was in Cuba if you've read Flemming. What a pleasure, different, cant understand why it not mobbed in tourist season

This hotel is located within walking distance of the beach with very nice views of the mountains and the sea , however the most incredible asset is their staff , incredibly helpful for and always willing to help me and my family . We traveled in a family group of 12 with our 7 months old son and my 89 grandma and the staff at the hotels were always eager to help with my sonand my grandma’s needs . The whole staff - front desk - restaurant - cleaners - bar staff were always friendly and very accommodating . I will definitely come back
GHL Relax Hotel Costa Azul

Let me start of by saying that the staff at GHL Hotel were VERY helpful. The minute we walked through the door we were treated like family. The check in process was very easy and quick. We didn't have to worry about our luggage the hotel handled all of that. The room were very clean. The rooms had a small sink near the entry door which I'm not sure why, a small closet, small refrigerator which included snacks and drinks (at a cost of course). I did notice that the hotel did not furnish face towels. Only had 2 towels and a hand towel. I did ask the front desk if any face towels were available and the response was we don't supply those. We were able to pickup a few face towels at the dollar store. The pool was amazing (kiddy pool and adult pool). The loved the location of the hotel. Was not far from the airport about 10 to 15 mins. The hotel is not that close to a grocery store but its a 10min cab drive. There is a small convince store on the property but will be limited on some things. The hotel sits on the beach shore which I took a beach walk every morning. The hotel restaurant was EXCELLENT!!!. The food was outstanding and very cheap. Although we did not know that much Spanish the staff was very helpful to cater to us and using our phone translator came in handy. I would have never thought I would have visit Colombia but now that I have I can't wait until I go back. This was a truly a great vacation. Thank you GHL Hotel Relax Costa Azul for a wonderful time. I like to give thanks to all the hotel staff.
