Gaozhuang truly transforms from day to night; its real charm only emerges in the evening! The melodious hulusi, the graceful Fannuo dance, the endless neon lights, the exotic Dai electronic music, and the bustling Ganbai Street. Since I'm not a fan of guesthouses, I always choose the Mekong Jinglan Hotel for my stays. I visited Gaozhuang two years ago and also stayed at Jinglan. The facilities, location, views, and service were all top-notch. So, for this trip to Gaozhuang, Jinglan was again my top choice! The room interiors, bed frames, and even the exterior walls are all well-maintained, indicating that the hotel is well-managed and invests in its upkeep, creating a positive cycle.
This time, I'm staying in Gaozhuang for 4 days. I initially booked a two-day River View Executive Twin Room. At check-in, the lovely Miss Xiaoju at the front desk warmly welcomed me and helped arrange a high-floor room as requested. When I learned about the in-house suites on higher floors (fewer than 5 available, with better views, and not sold on platforms), Xiaoju proactively offered a key card for me to view them. After some discussion, Xiaoju offered a very favorable price within her authority. Consequently, I decided to book the in-house suite for another two days. A huge thank you to Xiaoju for her help!
My vacation wasn't long enough this time to stay for the Dai New Year Water Splashing Festival. I'll definitely come back when I have more time to experience the three-day carnival!

This hotel boasts an excellent location, making it super convenient to get around, especially being so close to Shuhe Ancient Town. The hotel itself has a beautiful Naxi style, and the room designs are full of ethnic character. The decor is thoughtfully arranged and everything is spotlessly clean. We booked a 'snow view' room, which was spacious and comfortable, and relaxing on the balcony was pure bliss. The hotel's facilities are comprehensive, including a gym, a swimming pool, and even a spa. They also offer a variety of activities, like feeding animals or tea tasting. Even though it rained during our stay, it added a unique charm to the atmosphere. Christin at the front desk was very attentive and kindly asked about our stay experience. I would definitely come back again if I have the chance!
This hotel is ideal for active travelers due to its excellent location, being just a 20-minute walk from Nanping Street, the Old Town, and Yuantong Temple, with the added convenience of a direct subway link to the railway station. While the rooms are well-equipped, light sleepers should request a room away from the main road to avoid traffic noise, and although the breakfast variety is limited, it offers fair value for the price.

The room was spacious with a window, and being on the 14th floor, the view was fantastic. You needed to use your card to operate the elevator, which made me feel very secure. Right opposite the hotel is Cuihu Park, which is free to enter, perfect for a leisurely stroll. The hotel is located in the city center. To the right of the hotel is Huangdong Street, a vibrant area, especially when the jacaranda trees are in bloom, with many small cafes for visitors to relax in. The hotel breakfast was incredibly rich and varied, with high-quality offerings. The hotel's Chinese restaurant was also excellent; the dishes tasted great, the prices were reasonable, offering great value for money. I had all three meals at the hotel every day, which was clean and hygienic, with beautiful views of Cuihu Park from the window! This hotel is quite popular, and rooms book up quickly. I booked a week in advance and couldn't even extend my stay for an extra night. If you get a city view room, you can catch the sunrise. The most sought-after rooms are the lake view ones, which overlook Cuihu Park and offer stunning sunset views. If you want one, make sure to book well in advance! This hotel definitely deserves a 100/100 score!

The room was clean and the hotel facilities were excellent, including a washer and dryer. The room had a great layout with separate areas for the bedroom, living space, and bathroom, and offered a fantastic view. The TV was high-definition, and the front desk staff were very friendly and helpful, even assisting with luggage storage.

The location of Shannian Hotel is absolutely superb, right next to Lijiang Old Town. It’s only a 5-10 minute walk from the main city road, so lugging suitcases isn't too much of a pain. Plus, the hotel has its own parking, which is very convenient for those driving. It's also near Amand. The butler proactively helped us with our luggage, and the service was very attentive.
The hotel is nestled halfway up the mountain, and our room's window faced Jade Dragon Snow Mountain directly. On a clear day, sipping a drink in the room while watching the sunset over the snowy peaks was incredibly therapeutic. It's about a 15-minute walk to the bustling Sifang Street, and you get to wander through the old town and browse small shops along the way – the pace is just perfect.
I have to give a special shout-out to the butler team here; they are genuine and warm Naxi people who made us feel truly welcome. The butler even gave my son a small couplet written in Dongba script, which he loved – it was such a thoughtful and personal gift.
The breakfast selection is a bit simple and could be improved, but the free freshly ground coffee in the morning was a pleasant surprise; the beans were excellent quality. My only minor suggestion would be to have the coffee available for the entire breakfast duration (which starts at 8 AM), as many people like to have coffee with their meal. Overall, it's about a 30-40 minute drive from the airport, and spending three days and two nights here to relax and unwind was far more enjoyable than visiting many popular destinations. It's definitely a place I'd love to return to.

Choosing Naga S Hotel was truly the most delightful surprise of my Xishuangbanna trip! The location is simply unbeatable – just a few minutes' walk to immerse yourself in the vibrant atmosphere of the Starlight Night Market, and right around the corner is the dazzling Golden Pagoda. Serene and solemn by day, it becomes a brilliant spectacle at night, making you feel like you're living inside the most captivating landscape painting of Jinghong.
The hotel's design beautifully blends Dai ethnic charm with modern simplicity. You'll find a seamless integration of bamboo weaving, wood carvings, and lush greenery everywhere, offering both a sense of local culture and ultimate comfort. Our room was spacious and bright, with soft, skin-friendly bedding. The bathroom had a thoughtful wet-and-dry separation, showing great attention to detail. What I loved most was that our room window faced the Golden Pagoda directly. At night, pulling back the curtains revealed the pagoda lights illuminating the sky, like a flowing masterpiece.
The service also deserves special praise! The front desk staff was incredibly warm and attentive, proactively recommending fun spots and delicious food at the night market, and even thoughtfully advising us on how to avoid peak crowds. Every day, returning to the hotel, we were greeted with refreshing welcome tea, and luggage assistance was always prompt. The hotel also has a rooftop viewing platform, offering panoramic views of Gaozhuang, perfect for a relaxing evening breeze.
For tourists, this place is truly a 'hidden gem' as a base. After a tiring day of sightseeing, you can easily stroll through the night market in the evening, enjoy Dai cuisine, and take photos in traditional Dai attire, then walk back to your room to rest. In the morning, you can visit the Golden Pagoda when it's less crowded to experience its tranquility. Transportation is also very convenient; getting a taxi to Manting Park or the Tropical Botanical Garden was hassle-free.
If I had to offer one small suggestion, I'd hope for a swimming pool in the future. But even without it, Naga S Hotel is already wonderful enough that I want to recommend it to all my friends visiting Xishuangbanna! Here, you not only enjoy excellent accommodation but also an immersive experience of Gaozhuang's poetic charm, where 'stars fall to earth every night.' I will definitely choose this place again on my next trip to Banna!

My trip to Xishuangbanna was made possible by choosing the Meihua Lizhi Sunac Hotel, and the experience far exceeded my expectations – a perfect recommendation!
Located in the Sunac International Resort Area, the hotel boasts a tranquil and serene environment, far from the hustle and bustle of the city. Surrounded by lush greenery, it exudes tropical charm. The lobby is elegantly designed, with warm wood tones and Dai-style elements, creating a cozy yet sophisticated atmosphere. The comfortable and spacious lounge area showcases quality throughout. The guest rooms are bright and airy, with a timeless and minimalist luxury style. The entire room features intelligent voice control, allowing you to control the lights, curtains, and TV simply by speaking. The bedding is soft and skin-friendly, and the Dream Lily mattress is so comfortable you won't want to get up. The bathroom features a separate shower and toilet, a smart toilet for cleanliness and convenience, and a complimentary minibar – attention to detail is evident. The service is also heartwarming: the front desk is efficient and welcoming, the complimentary airport pick-up is punctual and thoughtful, and responses to any needs are extremely quick. Amenities are comprehensive, including complimentary afternoon tea, a late-night noodle shop, a gym, and a self-service laundry room. The rooftop pool offers stunning views, perfect for taking amazing photos. Although not in the city center, it's easily accessible by taxi and close to the airport and Sunac Land. The place is quiet and comfortable, with attentive service and excellent value for money. It's the top choice for a vacation in Xishuangbanna, and I'll definitely stay here again next time!
The room was spotless, with no strange odors upon entering. The view was also expansive. Plus, there's a massage service on the second floor, and I personally found their massages to be excellent, with very warm service. After your massage, there's a complimentary late-night buffet with a fantastic selection of food. It's incredibly good value for money, and the massage itself was very relaxing. The hotel's night services are truly outstanding. Highly recommend!
Facilities: The hotel's facilities are superb! The bedding in the room is comfortable, the toiletries are complete and of great quality, and basic amenities like air conditioning and hot water run smoothly. The smart room control system is also very convenient to use. In the public areas, the fitness and lounge areas are well-equipped with brand new and well-maintained equipment, and the public area hygiene is also exceptionally good.
Service: This stay was fantastic, and I must highlight Minnie and George Chai at the front desk for their exceptionally professional and attentive service. Check-in and check-out were super efficient, they were smiling throughout, and patiently explained the hotel facilities and provided tips for local attractions and dining. Their thoughtfulness was evident in every detail. Any questions we had were answered instantly, and their attitude was gentle and considerate, adding so much warmth to our trip. Their excellent service truly made our entire stay perfect. I highly recommend this hotel and commend Minnie and George Chai for their outstanding service!

WWanhe ZhangThis Banyan Tree property boasts an excellent environment, with architecture and decor that distinctly showcase Naxi ethnic characteristics. On clear days, you can even catch a glimpse of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain right from the hotel entrance.
I booked a Jacuzzi King Bed Villa. From the carpets to the wooden furniture, everything felt well-used but meticulously maintained. The bathroom fixtures were Toto and Hansgrohe, featuring smart toilet seats. The hot and cold water for the sink could be adjusted independently. The toiletries were Banyan Tree's own brand, and they were quite pleasant to use. The outdoor soaking tub is cleaned and refilled for each guest, with 24-hour heating, and you can choose whether or not to activate the hydro-massage function. Almost all the indoor and outdoor lighting was warm-toned, and the design of the spotlights and light strips was very well thought out, creating a lovely ambiance in the evening.
The service was outstanding. From check-in to check-out, every staff member I encountered was incredibly polite, greeting guests with genuine warmth and sincerity! A dedicated front desk butler even called me the day before check-in and added me on WeChat to coordinate details. Any requests could be handled directly via WeChat, and the efficiency was truly impressive – a real standout! Amenities and fresh fruit were replenished and changed daily, and the daily cleaning was exceptionally thorough. The turn-down service was excellent. During my three-day stay, I received a complimentary Banyan Tree little turtle and a traditional ornament.
The buffet breakfast offered a good variety of dishes, and everything was very fresh – no complaints there. The food at the White Cloud Chinese Restaurant was excellent, with a very traditional flavor. The ingredients, cooking, service, and ambiance were all great, though the prices were a little on the higher side, but the portions were generous. I recommend the Stir-fried Water Hyacinth, Sautéed ******* Pork with Herbs, Stewed Spare Ribs with Mixed Vegetables, and the Shangri-La Yak Hot Pot.
The spa was fantastic! The Banyan Tree Gallery here is also worth a visit, featuring many works created in collaboration with local artisans, as well as some pieces from the Baisha Embroidery Art Institute available for sale.
Most of the hotel staff are locals from Lijiang, and the entire hotel does an excellent job of incorporating local culture. I look forward to returning to Banyan Tree Lijiang for another vacation when I have the chance.
Many thanks to all the hotel staff for their incredibly warm service!
GGuest UserThe room facing the street was quite quiet, which was nice. The front desk has a coffee machine, and you can ask the staff to prepare drinks for you as needed.
The front desk staff was very enthusiastic and proactively offered us travel advice. Parking allows one exit within a 24-hour period, so plan your outings accordingly.
It takes about 20 minutes to walk to the Old Town Windmill, maybe because I walk a bit slowly, but it's definitely not just a few minutes away.
The room is equipped with smart home features, and the quality of items like tissues is quite good, showing that the owner has high standards for the amenities provided.
BBingbingle、The room was very spacious and well-equipped.
The decor and design were fantastic. The renovation of the historic building is quite unique, and the courtyard is breathtaking.
The housekeeping service was excellent, and any requests were promptly addressed.
The breakfast was also delicious, featuring some unique dishes.
I'll definitely stay here again next time I'm in Yunnan.
GGuest UserThis hotel made up 90% of my wonderful Lijiang trip – it was incredibly comfortable and the service was so thoughtful. The excellent service started right from booking; the owner added me on WeChat to ask about my arrival time and if I needed a pick-up, always replying instantly. They even helped with my luggage! The hotel is halfway up the mountain, offering stunning views of Lijiang Old Town. Whenever I wanted to go out, they'd drive me to the old town entrance, making it super convenient – a quiet escape yet close to everything. Plus, food delivery comes right to your room. The daily afternoon tea, coffee, and regular tea were all delicious, and the mini cakes and cookies were also high quality. There are 3 cats to pet, and a huge, super clear projector that was so comfy it made me not want to leave the room, haha.
⭐️ **Amenities:** It has an elevator! Floor-to-ceiling windows, a spacious and bright room, with sunlight streaming in – super comfortable! There's underfloor heating, powerful air conditioning, and a humidifier. The furniture is solid and high-quality, and the bed is just the right softness with comfortable linens.
⭐️ **Hygiene:** Daily cleaning, disposable slippers in sterilized packaging, soft and clean towels, separate toilet and shower areas, and a bathtub – extremely clean!
⭐️ **Service:** Absolutely amazing, they catered to every request! They provided sightseeing tips and routes with location pins, no pushy sales, and were as warm and attentive as a good friend! Unlimited complimentary bottled water, they'd offer water and an umbrella when I left, and fresh flower cakes when I returned – they looked after me so well!
We will definitely be back.
YYappariStory✨ Overall Impression
Stepping into the hotel, the lobby's design immediately gives you that ”the vacation has begun” feeling. The wooden structures combined with Southeast Asian-style decor – statues, elephant ornaments, and warm lighting – create a gentle, slightly exotic ambiance. It's understated but rich in detail.
🍽️ Dining Experience
The hotel's buffet area focuses on ”Yunnan specialty cuisine,” with meticulous attention paid to both plate presentation and space design.
The open-plan counters are neat and clean, offering a wide variety of choices. While featuring local flavors, it also caters to different tastes. Overall, it's above average – not stunning, but comfortable and diverse.
🛏️ Room Experience
The rooms are spacious and well-laid out, exuding the relaxed vibe of a resort hotel.
🛋️ Features a separate lounge area and a balcony.
🌿 The outdoor terrace is perfect for relaxing in the morning or evening.
🛁 The bathroom is fully equipped with a separate wet/dry area and a bathtub.
The overall style is natural and warm, with wood and soft lighting making it easy to unwind. However, upon closer inspection, some facilities show a bit of age, though they are still maintained in a comfortable condition.
🌴 Environment and Facilities
The hotel feels more like a resort-style hot spring hotel than a purely business hotel.
🌳 Spacious outdoor areas with a resort atmosphere.
🚗 Luxury cars parked at the entrance enhance the overall sense of class.
🏛️ Richly decorated public areas, perfect for photos.
It's particularly suitable for slow-paced travelers rather than those rushing through their itinerary.
💡 Pros Summary
✔️ Spacious and very comfortable.
✔️ Has a resort atmosphere, great for relaxation.
✔️ Diverse dining options.
✔️ Distinctive design, photo-friendly.
⚖️ Areas for Improvement
▫️ Some facilities are a bit dated.
Recommended for:
✔️ Those looking to slow down in Kunming.
✔️ Travelers who enjoy hot springs + a resort style.
✔️ Guests who prioritize space and comfort.
This isn't a hotel that will wow you at first glance, but it's a place where you can unwind and stay comfortably.
In a city with such pleasant weather as Kunming, it feels more like a ”gentle haven” than a showy luxury.

DDiana AldereiWe recently stayed at this hotel with my husband and had quite a mixed experience – some parts were truly lovely, while others left us a bit disappointed.
First of all, the villa itself was absolutely beautiful and incredibly spacious. The natural hot spring water was one of the highlights of our stay — such a relaxing and unique experience. The surrounding territory is also well-maintained and very peaceful, perfect for disconnecting and enjoying nature.
However, it’s important to note that the location is quite remote — it took us around an hour to get to places where we could eat or enjoy a cup of coffee. This is understandable considering the mountain setting and access to hot springs.
The afternoon tea was decent, and although lunch wasn’t included in our stay, we tried the local mixian noodles and they were absolutely delicious! Must try! Unfortunately, breakfast was disappointing, especially for guests like us who don’t eat pork or pork oil - there were very few options.
A few maintenance and cleanliness issues also affected our stay. The outdoor pool was not super clean, some insects were swimming there. While we really loved the hot spring bathtub in the villa, the facilities could use a bit more upkeep. The toilet setup was quite basic — a minimum upgrade like a bidet spray or shower toilet would make a big difference, especially for international or Muslim guests.
A more distressing part of our stay was that we found dead insects under the blanket in our bed after returning to our room one evening 🥲 I do appreciate the staff’s polite and kind response – they offered tea and explained it may have fallen from the ceiling – but for someone with a strong phobia of insects, this made it difficult to sleep and really affected my comfort. I do believe this is something that should be taken more seriously, especially in a hotel of this level.
Despite these issues, the staff was very polite, cute and extremely helpful & friendly, and I can see the potential for a truly magical experience here with just a few improvements. I really wanted to love everything — and part of me did — but I was also happy to go back home, just to feel more comfortable and relaxed.
GGuest UserThe location is absolutely superb, right on the south shore of Erhai Lake with a stunning, unobstructed view of Cangshan Mountain and Erhai Lake from the floor-to-ceiling windows. You get to witness breathtaking sunrises and sunsets – the view is simply incredible. The room itself is spacious and elegant, blending modern design with traditional Bai ethnic elements. The facilities are brand new and smart, the bedding is comfortable, and the soundproofing is excellent, ensuring a peaceful night's sleep every night.
I especially want to praise the service! Before check-in, Mary was incredibly helpful and attentive, arranging our room perfectly on the first day. Her responses were prompt and thoughtful. Throughout our stay, Angel was genuinely warm and attentive, always there to assist with anything we needed, paying attention to every little detail. The overall experience was absolutely fantastic.
Breakfast was rich and varied, offering both Chinese and Western options. The Natai Restaurant serves authentic Thai cuisine, and the infinity pool and Starry Sky Bar are perfect for amazing photos. The transportation is also very convenient, being close to both the high-speed train station and the airport, making travel hassle-free.
Dali in May has delightful weather, and Pullman made our trip even more perfect. I highly recommend it; we'll definitely stay here again next time!
GGuest UserService: The service at White House was the best I experienced on my Yunnan trip, even better than Hyatt's meticulous and attentive service.
They offer free laundry and drying, and breakfast can be delivered to your room. There are also complimentary evening drinks. Whenever you leave, they ask where you're going and offer free taxi service (to the three ancient towns). Upon check-in, each room receives a thoughtful gift box containing items like face masks, contact lens solution, glasses cases, and breath freshener. I hope the owner can upgrade the quality of these gifts; with such excellent service, I'd love to see the hotel's overall quality improve further.
Environment: Every room faces Jade Dragon Snow Mountain directly, offering an excellent viewing experience.
Facilities: I tried two room types this time. The ventilation system in this particular room type wasn't great. Since it's above the cafe, there was a strong smell when I opened the bathroom and room doors. This seems like a construction issue that's hard to change later. Both room types I stayed in had poor soundproofing. Early in the morning, I could hear people chattering by the lake downstairs, taking photos of the snow mountain, and in the hallway, I could hear doors closing, people walking, and talking from other rooms.
Hygine: During my stay, one bath towel was dirty, but the service staff replaced it immediately.
Overall, this hotel is quite good. However, the price I paid for the first night on the platform was over 1900, and for that price, the quality felt insufficient. At their regular prices, these issues would be less significant. I sincerely hope the hotel's business thrives. Many things require time and refinement. While the hard facilities can't be changed, there's still room for improvement in the soft facilities.
GGuest UserInitially, the butler wasn't very proactive in adding me on WeChat, and the room assigned to me was pretty mediocre. However, my stay improved after check-in. The mature male staff member at the front desk was excellent; he moved me to a quieter room with a better view. The shuttle service was also very prompt whenever we called. I had previously stayed at Ansu, where the service was exceptional, so I had some initial disappointment, but overall, the service here was good despite a few minor flaws.
The courtyard is huge and filled with various flowers, arranged beautifully. It's clear a lot of effort goes into its maintenance. Every corner of the courtyard is worth savoring; this courtyard was the highlight of my stay. It's absolutely stunning, truly the vibrant and blooming Lijiang I pictured in my mind!
Although it opened in 2015, the rooms are well-maintained. The breakfast selection is quite diverse, and the small pot rice noodles are delicious! The location is very convenient, with the main entrance on the main road and the back entrance leading directly into the Old Town.
