My stay didn't start well, but thankfully, it ended on a high note. I chose this hotel for an early rest after a late-night flight, and to avoid any odd rooms, I didn't even book the cheapest room type. However, the room I was assigned, supposedly an upgrade to a Deluxe Room, turned out to be a weirdly shaped corner room (I believe all room 15s in Building 2 have this layout). From the sofa, you couldn't see the TV, and from the bed, you couldn't face it either. The curtains hid an angled, curved glass window, making the actual living area very cramped – I had to squeeze sideways to get from the foot of the bed to the sofa! I called to request a room change, and the AI transfer said it was the front desk. They told me to wait on the line, and then for 10 minutes, there was no one speaking or responding on the other end, nor did they hang up. I ended up having to drag my luggage downstairs to the front desk to change rooms, which took almost an hour in total – definitely not a mood booster. The front desk suddenly got busy with more guests checking in, but the gentleman at the desk patiently served everyone and politely helped me switch rooms. He explained that he wasn't the one who answered my call (I still don't know where my call went or who answered it). The new room was a standard, square layout, with a view of the airport operations area where I could see planes taking off and landing, but without significant noise. As a new hotel, the wardrobe had an odor eliminator. The TV playback often paused (likely a network issue, screen mirroring didn't have this problem). All the staff I encountered were very polite, which I appreciate. The airport shuttle was convenient, and the hotel is genuinely close to the airport – only about a 10-minute walk if you don't mind the sun. Objectively speaking, and not considering the price or the 'room type lottery,' this hotel should be the best option for an overnight layover at Lanzhou Airport right now.

The hotel room is nice, but as soon as you get out of the elevator you'll be hit by a sudden burst of aromatherapy, which makes you feel dizzy and uncomfortable. The front desk had an indifferent attitude. When I checked in, there were three people at the front desk but no guests. No one responded even when I walked to the counter. I had to call out twice before someone looked up and checked me in. It was very uncomfortable. No one always answers the phone.
A Princess Treatment Stay in Zhangye
From the moment the hotel staff picked me up at the train station, I have received nothing but princess treatment. Whether this is standard or something special because I'm a solo female traveler in an area that doesn't see many foreigners outside of tour groups, I genuinely don't know. What I do know is that I felt looked after from start to finish.
The arrival set the tone. A friendly staff member was waiting right at the train station exit, and the ride to the hotel was barely five minutes. I ended up on the top floor with a mostly unobstructed mountain view, and on a clear day you can apparently catch sunrise and sunset from up there.
My room is enormous for one person. Two full bathrooms, a separate living room, separate bedroom with an additional couch. The little touches genuinely surprised me: a real sewing kit (not the sad three-thread version), a loofah, nice lotion, a plastic liner for the tub, cute slippers I may have to ”accidentally” pack, shower shoes, multiple teas, and a pod coffee maker. Speaking of the tub liner, it came paired with a sachet of ”red wine bath liquid” in this blood-red color, and combined with the plastic sheeting the whole setup gave me serious Dexter vibes. IYKYK. Slightly disturbing, completely awesome. Free laundry down the hall on my floor with washers, dryers, and soap provided. The breakfast spread is plentiful and genuinely good, tons of dishes, real variety.
The one issue during my stay was the climate control. My room hit 28°C and I called down for help. They sent an army of staff. When they realized moving me wouldn't solve anything because the issue affected another room too, they rebooted the system instead of just shuffling me around. By the time I finished dinner and used my included dining credit, my room was cool and comfortable. That's not just good service, that's good problem-solving. They adapted, communicated, and fixed it properly.
The staff deserves their own paragraph. Reception and the kitchen team were complete standouts. Everyone was gracious and warm, and the ones who spoke English did so beautifully even though they kept apologizing for it (they really shouldn't have, they were great). There was a moment at check-in when two excited staff members brought me up to my room and we all forgot the room key in the lobby. One of them ran back down to get it while we laughed about it together. That kind of warmth you can't fake. And it isn't just the front of house, there doesn't seem to be a moment when somebody isn't cleaning something, whether it's the windows, the chairs in the outdoor seating area, the bikes available for guests, or the koi pond. This hotel is genuinely well taken care of by its staff and ownership, and it shows.
I didn't get to do everything I wanted to in Zhangye, which means I'll be back. And when I do come back, I'll be staying right here. I honestly can't say enough good things about this place.

I stayed at this hotel seven or eight years ago, and even though it's an older property, it's still kept very clean and tidy. All the staff I encountered were warm and friendly. It's really close to 'Carb Cross' (碳水十字), so I had Jinqiang one day and Mogouyan Beef Noodles the next. The Chinese restaurant on the second floor is also excellent; both the service and the food quality were great, so good I ate there twice!

Shishang Spicy Hot Pot Set Meal: Tastes good!
Facilities: A bit old, but overall good!
Hygiene: Some corners are not well done, and some of the bathroom floor tiles are falling off.
Service: It's average for a five-star hotel, not bad, keep up the good work!
The room was clean and tidy, and the location was convenient. However, because the hotel is quite old, the facilities were a bit outdated. For example, the hot water supply for the shower was unstable, sometimes hot and sometimes cold, and the same was true for the sink, sometimes hot and sometimes not. I don't know if the hot water is only available during certain hours. However, the service was very thoughtful. You can also soak your feet for free in the evening. There are dedicated staff members who come to the room to prepare a foot bath bucket and hot water for guests. It's very thoughtful and worth recommending!

Visiting Dunhuang in spring was an absolute delight! The city is incredibly clean and tidy, with well-organized streets, making for an excellent overall experience. The hotel I stayed at offered top-notch service, was spotlessly clean, and paid attention to every little detail, making me feel very comfortable and secure.
And the food? Oh, I have to rave about the food! The donkey meat yellow noodles were perfectly chewy and flavorful, the Huyang焖饼 (braised lamb pancake) was rich and fragrant, and to top it all off, a glass of Li Guang apricot peel water was refreshing and cut through the richness. It was all full of authentic local flavors. Beautiful scenery, a clean city, great accommodation, and delicious food—Dunhuang is definitely worth another visit!

When traveling to Dunhuang, I wanted to book a quiet hotel and chose this hotel. The result was unexpectedly good. Not only was it quiet, but the environment was also very good and very cultural. The preface to the Lanting Collection was carved on the wall of the lobby. I heard it was written by the boss. . The service was also very friendly. Check-in was quick, they answered all our questions and sent us to the room. The room is also very warm, the facilities are new and complete, and there is a humidifier. It is really good to have a humidifier in Northwest China. The bathtub also comes with a disposable bathtub cover, so you can take a bath with confidence. I came back very late from my trip to the Western Front. I asked for two extra pairs of slippers, which were delivered quickly. Good hotel, good service!
As soon as I entered the hotel, there was a warm young lady pouring tea. I registered the room and helped us get to the elevator. I drove for a long time. When I opened the door of the room, I was warmed by a greeting card. There was also a prepared health massage and a neat sanitation. There was a small episode in the middle. During the rest, the cleaning aunt thought that the room we stayed in was the last room that the customer had not cleaned up, so she opened the door. It turned out that we were resting. In the afternoon, there was a young lady who apologized to us and sent some very good souvenirs. I also prepared baby slippers and small toothbrushes (this is really not possible in many hotels). It is really good to open the window in the morning. When I left, I made hot tea (this bottle is really like), forgot to take breakfast, breakfast is also delicious, there are many types.
In this small city, I haven’t come to my hometown for a long time. I was warmed by this hotel. The room is small but has everything, including the service. I really saw that I was trained with care. I have stayed in many hotels. I really feel that this is the best time. The ladies are very good. 🥰🥰🥰
After the Horseshoe Temple, it is difficult to imagine that a 4🌟-level hotel in the county seat of the Great Northwest is so cheap. The appearance of the hotel is magnificent and the price is very favorable. It is this 7-day journey. Staying at the best hotel in all aspects, Recommend everyone to stay when visiting the Horseshoe Temple or Qilian Mountain area

DDaofeng006During the May Day holiday, we traveled to Dunhuang. The hotel was very unique, located in the desert, with a typical Northwest and Xinjiang folk house style, yet it exuded a sense of elegance. The room facilities were complete, and the service was thoughtful. There were a few things that pleasantly surprised me: first, they proactively provided and covered the bathtub with a liner; second, they offered a complimentary laundry service once; and although breakfast officially ended at 10:30 AM, they were considerate of late sleepers and still provided a rich breakfast spread even after the cut-off time. While the breakfast options were limited, they were exquisite and distinctive, leaving us very satisfied. The hotel's travel photography service is highly recommended; the results were excellent – it would be a shame to miss it! Overall, Dunhuang is a very worthwhile travel destination. We spent four nights and three full days, which was quite leisurely. On the first day, we visited Yumenguan Pass and Yadan National Geological Park. We set off around noon and these two spots were conveniently located in the same direction. At Yumenguan Pass, we only explored the Small Square City and didn't go further. Then we headed to Yadan. I recommend chartering a car for the tour, as it offers much more freedom. Otherwise, taking a taxi means a two-hour journey each way. A private car allows you to see some hidden gems and control your time, as most of the scenery is somewhat similar, and too much can lead to aesthetic fatigue. On the second day, we went to the Mogao Grottoes. Remember to book tickets in advance; ours was for 3 PM. First, you watch a film at the digital center, then take their provided transport to the grottoes. Each group is assigned a guide who explains everything during the tour. This model is excellent as it protects the cultural relics while allowing you to appreciate their essence. I recommend it to those visiting Xi'an's Terracotta Army, so you don't just see a sea of tourists' heads. On the last day, after 4 PM, we went to Mingsha Mountain and Crescent Spring. The sun wasn't as intense then, and you can buy tickets at the entrance anytime. The scenery was magnificent, and Crescent Spring was beautiful; I was surprised at how well it's preserved. We skipped the evening's large chorus as we weren't young enough for that. In general, Dunhuang is indeed a great place to visit, and it's well worth coming here. Don't worry about the service; the local government is very dedicated. Lastly, Dunhuang Night Market, also known as Shazhou Night Market, is worth a try for its flavors and atmosphere.

GGuest UserThis is my second time in Dunhuang. I still chose this hotel!
Service: From the front desk to the room service, they are very enthusiastic. I booked a standard room. The front desk also upgraded it to a large room called Jiangjin room. It's really great! (The front desk said that the room name is based on the wine series of their winery) It's really nice to stay in such a good room in a tourist city for just over 300👍
Environment: The environment is very good, the hotel breakfast is also very rich, the location is a bit remote and super quiet at night, but Dunhuang is very small and it takes more than ten minutes to get to the scenic spot, which is convenient!

TTianchengzuodehualei20The room is very nice, but the renovation is a bit dated. It's spacious and bright, and even has a bathtub. However, the curtains need improvement; they don't block out much light, and you can see people outside.
SSupiaoThe hotel is just a bit old. Many things need to be replaced. The hotel's bath towels and bathrobes are okay. They don't have much smell and are quite white. However, the bathroom floor drain smells bad. The hotel also prepared mats to cover the floor drain, but the effect is not very good. . The restaurant is nice and the food is pretty good.
The main problem is the hot spring. The bath towels are smelly and yellow, and the stains have not been cleaned. There are no large sizes, only medium and small. There is water in the bathroom! I don’t know if it’s urine or water! There are no large-sized clothes, and the waiter refuses to let you eat. Can you provide a bathrobe to the customer? The restaurant reception is really bad! No sense of service!
The reception service at the hotel was very good and helped us choose the most suitable package! The bath master is also very awesome and professional!
