Lavender travel guide and discussion

#summervacay Here’s a natural, personal blog capturing your full Saturday itinerary: --- Saturday was one of those perfect days that felt both relaxed and filled with little adventures. We started our morning with brunch at Oberstrasse in Lavender, a cozy neighborhood café with a warm, rustic vibe. The prosciutto ham rösti was crispy on the outside, tender inside, and topped with delicate slices of salty prosciutto — exactly the kind of hearty yet light dish you want for brunch. The pistachio cream mafaldine was another highlight, with its creamy, nutty sauce coating perfectly cooked pasta. The atmosphere was inviting, and it felt like a little European escape tucked away in the city. After brunch, we headed over to Bugis Junction and Bugis Plus to wander around. The walk between the two malls over the bridge was nice — the mini fountain and the air-conditioned indoor street made it a pleasant stroll even in the midday heat. The seating areas with trees created little pockets of calm in the busy shopping environment, perfect for people-watching and just soaking in the vibe. For a chill afternoon, we stopped by Sides by Sidemen at Bugis+. The place has a bold, lively vibe with neon lights and cool decor. We enjoyed their signature Nashville-style fried chicken — crispy, juicy, and packed with flavor — along with some sides that complemented the meal well. The casual, fun atmosphere was just what we needed to relax before continuing our day. Later, we visited Paris Baguette for a light treat. Their Fresh Strawberry Yogurt Cake stood out with its balance of tangy yogurt cream and sweet strawberries atop a soft sponge. The café was cozy and spacious, buzzing gently with shoppers and families settling in for a break. Nearby, we also popped into Standard Bun, a small open café offering freshly baked soft buns and warm coffee. It was a simple pleasure to see their beautiful buns on display and enjoy the comforting smells and laid-back atmosphere. As evening approached, we made our way to the Promontory, armed with our picnic mat. The open grassy space was perfect for settling down early. Around us, families, couples, and kids filled the area with laughter and quiet chatter. We caught the helicopters flying overhead, proudly carrying the national flag, and watched jets streak across the sky in sharp formations. The atmosphere was festive but relaxed, a wonderful contrast to the busy city. When the fireworks started, the sky lit up in bursts of brilliant colors reflected on the water, making it feel almost magical. It was one of those moments where you just lie back and take it all in — the sounds, the lights, the shared joy around you. To end the day, we headed over to Lau Pa Sat’s famous Satay Street. The sizzling grills and smoky aroma greeted us as we picked out a variety of satays. Sitting there amidst the crowd, sharing skewers and enjoying the warm night air. #myitinerary #travel #couplestrip #thingstodo #citydaytours #localfood

#springitinerary We didn’t expect much when we took the lift up to the third floor of Crawford Court, near Lavender MRT—but the rooftop garden completely took us by surprise. It's unexpectedly spacious and open, with a sense of calm that instantly makes you slow your pace. From above, we had a clear view of the surrounding low-rise buildings, dressed in soft greys, faded maroon, and pale pinks. On bright, sunny days, the space feels warm and comforting, but when clouds roll in and the rain begins to fall, it transforms into something quieter—melancholic in the best way, like the city is gently exhaling. Standing there, we couldn’t help but be reminded of the old Rochor Centre before it was torn down. The rooftop has that same unassuming charm—nothing loud or flashy, just an honest, lived-in kind of beauty. It carries a sense of nostalgia, with colors and energy that speak softly yet meaningfully. It’s the kind of place that invites you to sit, breathe, and just be present for a moment. There are plenty of corners to claim as your own—benches tucked under shaded areas, wide ledges perfect for perching with a coffee or snack. Whether you’re catching up with a friend, enjoying a quiet picnic, or simply sitting alone with your thoughts, it’s the kind of setting that fits any mood. What really adds to the character of this spot is what’s just below. On the ground floor and along the surrounding streets, there’s a lovely mix of old-school shops, nostalgic coffee houses, and unpretentious cafes with the scent of kaya toast and kopi wafting through the air. It feels like stepping into a slower, more familiar version of Singapore—one that still holds onto the soul of the past while quietly existing in the present. It’s easily accessible and open to all, yet somehow feels like a hidden pocket of calm in the middle of the city. What we loved most is how the rooftop garden seems to change with the weather—sunny and golden one moment, soft and muted the next—but no matter the mood, it remains inviting. A true hidden gem that reminds us how beautiful simplicity can be.

Stepped into Aperia Mall totally craving prawn noodles and boom, found Hoe Nam Signatures (River South)! This spot is such a gem if you’re a noodle fan like me 🍜✨. Their menu is packed with all kinds of prawn noodle combos: you can go classic with just prawn, level up with prawn + pork ribs, stick to just pork ribs, or get adventurous with intestines (and more!). Both dry and soup versions are on deck, so you can pick your vibe every visit. Here’s the real win: FREE flow soup and noodle refills! Yup, you read that right, slurp to your heart’s content without worrying about extra charges. I went for the dry prawn noodle with intestine and OMG 😱, the prawns were suuuper fresh and bouncy! Intestine was okay, but the soup? Next level umami, so comforting and flavorful. Pro tip: add the ngo hiang side dish. it’s a must-order, super delish and gives extra crunch. The place is squeaky clean, perfect for a chill meal. Highly recommend dropping by if you’re anywhere near Aperia Mall. It’s just a 5-7 minute stroll from Lavender MRT (12 Kallang Ave, #01-36 , Singapore 339511; open daily 8am–8pm). Bonus: They also do bak kut teh and loads of other comfort dishes, so there’s tons to try every time you visit. Sooo good! definitely a must-try when you’re in the area!

#springitinerary Our afternoon around Beach Road, Crawford Lane, and Lavender was a delightful little adventure through some of Singapore’s hidden gems—a perfect mix of tasty food, cozy vibes, and chill hangout spots. We kicked off with brunch at Golden Mile Food Centre, just a short walk from Lavender MRT. First, we savored Braise Lu Zhi Jia’s famous braised pork rice. The tender pork belly and shank, slowly braised to perfection, melted in our mouths, sitting atop fluffy white rice for that comforting, satisfying bite every time. Then, we headed down to the basement for the dry-style Hainan Hokkien mee—a fragrant noodle dish packed with wok hei and rich prawn flavors that left us wanting more. The food centre itself felt spacious and clean, with netted fencing keeping birds away, making it a relaxed spot to enjoy our meal without distraction. After our food fix, we crossed over to Golden Mile Tower for a matcha pick-me-up at Haus Coffee. Their strawberry matcha was the perfect blend of earthy bitterness and fruity sweetness, smooth and refreshing. The café’s laid-back, slightly hippy vibe mixed with its connection to Rookie, a local clothing brand, made it a cool, casual spot to recharge and soak in the atmosphere. Next, we slowly made our way to Café Lilac on Crawford Lane, where the quiet living-room-style decor immediately made us feel at home. Soft lilac hues, warm wooden furniture, and comfy booth seating by a large glass window overlooking the corridor created such a cozy, peaceful space. We indulged in their taro-misu—layers of creamy taro and mascarpone that felt indulgent without being too heavy—and the strawberry taro latte, which was sweet and refreshing. Sitting there, watching the quiet corridor outside, was pure comfort. To wrap up the afternoon, we explored the level 3 rooftop garden at Crawford Court nearby. The space was surprisingly spacious and open, with views of surrounding buildings painted in subtle shades of grey, maroon, and baby pink. The mood shifted beautifully depending on the weather—calm and muted on rainy days, nostalgic and peaceful on clear ones. It reminded us of the old Rochor Centre rooftop, with its simple charm and quiet community feel. It was the perfect spot to hang out, breathe in some fresh air, and watch the city go by. Our little afternoon journey reminded us how much joy there is in savoring simple pleasures—delicious food, cozy cafés, and quiet spots to just be together. #myitinerary #localfood #afternoonteatime #citydaytours

If there's only ONE Peranakan restaurant you can fit into your itinerary, make it **Wild Coco**. 💛 📍Wild Coco 14 Hamilton Road, Singapore 209184 🕒 Daily | 11:00 AM – 9:30 PM The restaurant is known for its authentic Nyonya cuisine, and these are some of the signatures everyone recommends: ✨ Ayam Berempah Leg Nasi Lemak ✨ Chao Ta Chee Cheong Fun ✨ Premium Laksa ✨ Awfully Otah Since we had already finished lunch before coming, we decided to order the **Classic Laksa** instead of the Premium version. The Premium Laksa comes with an extra tiger prawn and more fish cakes, but we mainly wanted to see what all the hype was about. 🍜 **Classic Laksa** The first sip... I totally understood why people keep recommending it. The coconut broth was rich, creamy and incredibly fragrant. Every ingredient tasted fresh, and I chose the yellow noodles (you can also choose thick rice vermicelli if you prefer). Personally, I found the broth a little saltier than my usual preference, but overall it's still a bowl of laksa that I'd happily recommend to anyone visiting Singapore. 🥥 **Gula Melaka Coconut Shake** This drink is for people with a serious sweet tooth! 😂 The gula melaka flavour is rich and authentic, but for me... it was *REALLY* sweet. Luckily, I also ordered a pot of **Oolong Tea**, and honestly, that turned out to be one of my favourite decisions. 🍵 Can we talk about the tea cup for a second? I absolutely LOVE how big it is! If you're travelling around Singapore in the tropical weather, staying hydrated is so important. Getting such a huge cup of hot Oolong tea at this price felt like such a good deal. It's sugar-free, refreshing, and the perfect drink to balance out all the rich local food. Definitely my recommendation if you're trying to keep things a little healthier while still enjoying great food. 🏮 The restaurant itself is gorgeous. The interior has a beautiful Peranakan-inspired design, but what completely stole my heart was the little monkey artwork on the wall. 🐒❤️ I know it's just a decoration... but I seriously couldn't stop looking at it. Somehow this adorable little monkey made the whole dining experience even happier. (Am I the only one? 😂) There's still so much on the menu I'd love to come back for—especially the famous **Ayam Berempah Nasi Lemak**, more traditional Peranakan dishes, and of course... desserts! 🍮 ✨ Overall, Wild Coco is one of those places that feels both tourist-friendly and local-approved. If you're visiting Singapore and want to experience authentic Peranakan flavours, this spot definitely deserves a place on your food list. ⭐ Would I come back? Absolutely. Next time, I'm finally ordering that famous Nasi Lemak! #singapore #singaporefood #wildcoco #peranakanfood #nyonyacuisine #laksa #singaporeeats #singaporetravel

TOASTBOX is a famous chain in Singapore. I received a call buzzer, and it was ready in about five minutes. I heard that sweet coffee, kopi, toast with kaya jam, and two poached eggs are popular in Singapore, so I ordered that. Apparently, you eat the poached eggs with the toast. When I opened it, I saw thinly sliced butter I was worried about the calories, but it was delicious 😊 I saw several stores of this shop while sightseeing. 809 French Road, Kitchener Complex, Singapore 200809 Opening hours 7:30-21:00 #KayaToast #SingaporeGourmet #SingaporeTourism #OverseasTravel

#worthitornot Gan Bei BBQ Restaurant at Jalan Besar is one of my favourite places to escape the afternoon summer heat, especially between 2pm and 5pm when Singapore feels like an oven. While many people come here for the BBQ, I keep returning for one reason—their Frozen Kirin Fruity Beer. I’m not a heavy drinker (usually just 2–4 glasses, a few times a week), but I’ve tried plenty of local and overseas beers. Surprisingly, nothing comes close to this one. I don’t even enjoy the regular Kirin beer that much, but the frozen fruity version is completely different. The first sip instantly reminds me of childhood. Remember rushing to 7-Eleven after school for a Slurpee? That’s exactly what it tastes like—an icy fruity slush with a refreshing alcoholic kick. It’s smooth, fun, and after two glasses, you get that light, happy buzz without feeling too heavy. The only downside? It costs $13 per glass before service charge and GST. Considering many happy hour beers are around $3, and even regular pub beers usually cost $8–10, it’s definitely on the expensive side. For me, the unique taste and experience make it worth the occasional treat. But what about you? Would you pay $13 for a frozen fruity beer, or would you stick with a regular pint? Be honest—I’d love to hear your thoughts! 🍻

Singapore adventure? Here’s my quick guide for travelers chasing cool lunar moments and budget-friendly stays 🌙👀 Must-Stay Hotels in Singapore: 🏨 1. V Hotel Lavender (70 Jellicoe Rd) – Super value for your money, thanks to its unbeatable location near public transport and food spots. Great for both business and leisure. ⚡Tip: If you’re sensitive to smells or noise, ask ahead for a quiet room with better bathroom ventilation! 2. Hotel Boss (500 Jalan Sultan Rd) – Efficient check-ins, friendly staff, and a killer swimming pool/gym setup. Rooms are clean but snug; expect compact spaces and some noise if you’re a light sleeper. 💡Pro tip: Use the hotel’s self-service laundry to stay fresh for longer trips. Lunar Eclipse Experience: Sadly, the rare red-hued moon was blocked by thick clouds on March 3, so most astronomy buffs missed the total lunar eclipse. If you’re into stargazing, check weather forecasts and rooftop access before venturing out next time! My own rooftop view was mostly clouded, with a teasing glimpse of a bright moon peeking through. Still, it was a moody, atmospheric night perfect for close-up moon shots. Getting Around: Singapore’s MRT is the way to go—cheap, clean, and fast. Both hotels are walking distance from stations, so skip taxis! Food Recommendations: Don’t miss the hawker centers nearby for authentic eats on a budget. Lavender Food Square and Sultan Food Court are favorites for quick bites! Essential Tips: Bring travel-sized toiletries (bathrooms can be tiny), earplugs for noisy corridors, and a lightweight umbrella—clouds roll in fast! #SingaporeMoon #BudgetHotelsSG #TravelTips #CloudyNight #HawkerEats #singapore #sg #travel2026 #travel #thingstodo #myitinerary

#hellochristmas For the budget-conscious traveler looking to maximize their Singapore adventure, J8 Hotel on Townshend Road offers a stay centered around an unbeatable location and remarkable value, though with some trade-offs to consider. The hotel’s greatest strength is its position in the vibrant Lavender area, placing you within walking distance of the rich cultural tapestry of Little India, Arab Street, and Haji Lane, with the 24-hour Mustafa Centre shopping complex and the Jalan Besar Stadium also close by. Getting around is a breeze with Lavender and Jalan Besar MRT stations a short walk away, providing excellent access to the rest of the city. The hotel itself is housed in a distinctive early 20th-century building that has won an Architectural Heritage Award, offering a touch of character. Your stay includes practical perks like a complimentary mini-buffet breakfast, free WiFi throughout the property, and a 24-hour front desk with luggage storage. The rooms are clean and functionally equipped with air conditioning, a flat-screen TV, and tea/coffee facilities, with some upgraded options even featuring a private balcony. However, it's important to set realistic expectations. Many guests note that the rooms, while comfortable, are notably compact and some are windowless. While the included breakfast offers a variety of Asian dishes, its limited scope may not suit all tastes. Furthermore, experiences with service and maintenance can be inconsistent; some guests praise the friendly staff, while others report issues with room cleanliness, noise, or air conditioning. In essence, J8 Hotel is a fantastic budget base for explorers who plan to be out experiencing Singapore all day and prioritize location and cost over spacious luxury. For the best experience, consider booking a room with a balcony or window, and if you encounter any issues during your stay, address them promptly with the staff.

#falladventures #travel #singapore Walking along the peaceful canal near Jalan Besar, there was a quiet stillness in the air that gave me a sense of autumn, even in Singapore’s tropical climate. The soft breeze carried a hint of freshness, and the reflection of the trees on the still water created a calm, almost poetic view. This stretch by the Kallang River is not overly crowded, making it a perfect place for a slow stroll. Tall trees line one side, their leaves gently swaying, while the paved path along the water allows an easy and relaxing walk. It felt like time had slowed down, giving space to breathe and simply enjoy the moment. Across the canal, I noticed buses passing quietly in the distance, life moving steadily yet peacefully. The greenery here is well-maintained — trimmed bushes and grass that make the area feel open and clean. Occasionally, joggers and cyclists pass by, but it still manages to maintain a tranquil atmosphere. This part of Singapore shows a softer, more reflective side of the city, away from the bustling shopping districts. A short walk away stands Hotel Boss, a bold, modern structure with its signature red-and-white wave design across the lower levels. The building stands out among the surrounding HDB flats and shophouses. It is both stylish and practical, offering visitors affordable stays in a very convenient location. The glass tower above reflects the cloudy autumn sky, giving it a slightly dreamy and cinematic look. Hotel Boss is strategically located near Lavender MRT Station, making it easy for travellers to get around Singapore. It is also close to cultural areas such as Kampong Glam, Little India, and Jalan Besar, where colourful heritage buildings and authentic local food can be found. Just a short walk from the hotel brings you to hidden cafés, local eateries, and historic shophouses that tell stories of Singapore’s past. Sitting on the nearby bench, watching cars pass and trees move gently in the breeze, I felt a peaceful sense of gratitude. This was not a grand attraction or a famous tourist spot, but it was meaningful in its own way. It reminded me that beauty can be found in everyday surroundings — in quiet parks, reflective waters, and the simple joy of walking without hurry. It was an autumn moment in Singapore, calm and grounded, tucked between nature and the city.

Pets-Friendly Hole-In-The-Wall Cafe?! Borderless Coffee may not be unfamiliar to some, with their first pop-up at APT in a shophouse along Tanjong Pagar early 2025. And now, Borderless Coffee has found a permanent home near Lavender opened last week. Operating mainly a takeaway store, there are pets-friendly benches available outdoors . 1️⃣ Black (SGD 5) 2️⃣ White (SGD 6) 3️⃣ Mocha (SGD 6.50) 4️⃣ Chocolate (SGD 6.50) 5️⃣ Strawberry Milk (SGD 7) 6️⃣ Matcha/ Hojicha Latte (SGD 6) 7️⃣ Sticky Date (SGD 6) 8️⃣ Financier (SGD 3) . 📍 Borderless Coffee #singaporeguide #singapore

#summervacay Tucked away in the quieter part of Lavender near Kitchener Complex is Oberstrasse, a small neighborhood café that feels like a cozy little European hideout. The moment you step inside, you notice the warm, rustic charm — wooden accents, soft lighting, and a relaxed vibe that makes you want to settle in and stay awhile. What really draws people here are the dishes that balance comforting familiarity with a twist of something special. One standout is the prosciutto ham rösti — the outside is crispy and golden, while the inside stays soft and tender. The salty, delicate slices of prosciutto on top add just the right amount of savory richness. It’s exactly the kind of dish that feels hearty without being heavy. Another dish that caught my attention was the pistachio cream mafaldine. It’s pasta coated in a smooth, creamy pistachio sauce that’s surprisingly light and nutty. It’s a refreshing take on pasta that feels indulgent but not overwhelming. The café’s menu also offers other hearty options like oven-baked Cajun chicken thigh with crispy skin, served with tater tots and broccoli — simple but satisfying. And if you’re after something a bit lighter, the veal bratwurst with a sunny-side-up egg on homemade potato rösti is a great choice, flavorful but not too heavy. What I appreciate about Oberstrasse is how it feels like a neighborhood spot where the food is honest and well-made, and the atmosphere is friendly and unpretentious. Even when it’s busy, there’s a calmness about the place that makes it easy to relax, whether you’re popping in for a quick bite or lingering over a coffee. If you’re around Lavender and craving a meal that’s a little different from the usual, Oberstrasse is definitely worth a visit. It’s one of those small cafés where you can enjoy good food, friendly service, and a cozy space that makes you feel at home.

If you're exploring the heart of Lavender in Singapore near Arton Boutique Hotel, don't miss the chance to enjoy some delicious and affordable halal local dishes like lontong and soto ayam. Despite Singapore’s reputation for being pricey, these comforting meals are surprisingly budget-friendly and packed with authentic flavor. The rich coconut gravy of the lontong and the aromatic broth of the soto ayam make for a satisfying experience — perfect for breakfast or a light lunch. Surrounded by vibrant streets and easy access to MRT stations, this area offers a true taste of Malay cuisine in a cozy, urban setting. #staycation #localfood #singapore #halalfood

#springitinerary The level 3 rooftop garden at Crawford Court near Lavender MRT pleasantly surprised me with how spacious and peaceful it is. It’s a wide-open space that overlooks the surrounding buildings, mostly painted in soft greys with gentle hints of maroon and baby pink. On bright days, the colors feel soothing, but when the skies turn grey and it rains, the whole area takes on a more muted, calm vibe that’s actually kind of comforting in its own way. Being up there brought back memories of the old Rochor Centre before it was demolished. The rooftop garden shares that same quiet charm—the mix of subtle colors, the sense of community, and the understated personality of the space. It’s not flashy or in-your-face, but it has a soulful character that makes you want to just pause, breathe, and enjoy the moment. There are plenty of cozy spots to sit and relax, making it a great place to hang out with friends, enjoy a casual picnic, or simply have some peaceful alone time while watching the city go by below. It’s easily accessible and open to the public, which makes it a perfect little hideaway right in the heart of Lavender. What I love most is how this rooftop garden feels like a hidden gem—somewhere that changes mood with the weather but always manages to offer a calm, welcoming atmosphere. Whether it’s under soft sunlight or a moody, overcast sky, it’s a refreshing spot that invites you to slow down and soak in the simple beauty around you.

#favouriteitinerary Do you know you can take a train and alight at the lavender area, and walk five minutes here? There is only one bus which stops outside the kallang riverside park? That spot is in a very good location. It is because you can cross over the bridge towards the kallang wave mall and the stadium area, or you can move forward towards the marina bay sands and the Singapore flyer direction. So the bus stop area is like a divider. Either you choose route A or B. The bus number 100 also takes you to the telok blangah area where you can explore the hills there . You can .also alight at the vivocity mega shopping mall, as well as the harbour front area, to take a cable car ride from the mount Faber area .

A classic Singapore breakfast! Kaya toast 🥪 It's sweet like cinnamon, but also a little salty, so it's addictive There were a lot of locals there from the morning! When it gets busy, there seems to be a line. It's open early in the morning, so why not have breakfast while traveling? ✨ It's a chain store, so it's available in many places, but the photo above is of this place ☺︎ 809 French Rd, #01-32/33 Kitchener Complex, Singapore 200809 #100's travel style #Singapore #Singapore trip

#familytrips2024 The small garden park located just a few minutes walk from the lavender train station, is definitely a great place for you to spend your time with your family. You can sit there and enjoy people fishing, as well as chit chat with your family members and enjoy the breezy weather. It brings me back to my memories where we spend our time at the park to have a picnic. we would like to visit Penang island for our future trips. We would like to try out the local dishes there and the favorite food streets there and shop there as well too.

The price is very reasonable too. The whole duck cost only $22. Their set meal is worth too. A quarter duck with rice and drink cost $7.90. 861 North Bridge Road, #01-108, Singapore 198783 The Lao Huang Hakka Yong Tau Fu is located at the north bridge road area. From lavender MRT station, take a 10 minutes walk to reach the north bridge road market. The stall is open only on Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday, and on Sunday. The queue is usually very long especially on the weekends. Be sure to come before 830am as the queue will start to get longer. The estimated waiting time on weekends is from 30 minutes to an hour or longer. You would be given a queue number if the queue is too long. The prices are affordable. I especially love their yellow flat noodles priced at $2.50 . Each Yong Tau Fu is priced at 80 cents. The generous portion of meat filling is definitely very fulfilling to have. Do try it yourself one day. #fallingforfall #mytripvlog
