"First time staying in this room. Wanted to check in at 11.30am. Bt room is not ready until 12.30pm, thankfully. Truly enjoy the peace and quiet on the 27th floor. WiFi connection is strong too. Didn't take the breakfast option this time round. Husband managed to take the opportunity to go to the swimming. Its quite full of ppl on the saturday. But managed to get basic swimming done. Except I gt smthg to complain the fridge is not cold and the tv has 1 black line across the middle of the screen. If given option. I will probably pick the same type of room again.👍"

"Location is very good, being connected to the mall. Towels in the room were threadbare and old. There was a pronounced smell of sweat and body odor when I first entered the room. The bedsheets had a stain. The baywindow seat was badly stained. Pillows are small and smelt musty, providing little support. Breakfast selection was not what you'd expect from a Malaysian hotel of this class. The international /continental selection was thin and guests wanting healthier options e.g. hard boiled eggs, bananas, apples, uncooked oats, were not given these selections which are low cost and easy to provide. The staff were very professional and courteous. They are amongst the best I have met."

"Overall, we had a pleasant stay. It’s within walking distance from City Square Mall and Tan Hiok Nee is just a few steps away across the street perfect if you want to do some café and old-school restaurant hopping. All the basic necessities are available in the room. My only concern is that the ceiling fan and AC need to be serviced and cleaned, as you can see some dust buildup on them."

"It’s a big hotel, good one based on location. KSL City Mall is 600m by walk, many other mall, KK, Seven eleven and restaurants are there. Heavy and large amounts of buffet breakfast during weekends. Only one negative side is the flush button. You need to press until it gets flushed after toilet for more than 45 seconds which I finds very bothering. Otherwise it’s an old hotel but it has maintained well like new carpet, no bad odor. So except the toilet flush everything is good. And the breakfast is excellent"

"Very disappointed with my stay at Holiday Villa JB. This is my 3rd stay here after trying the first 2 times a few years back and not liking it. So I stayed 3 days here, and while my 1st day here was fine, my 2nd and 3rd days here reminded me why I never returned to this hotel earlier. 1) Unethical and lack of tranpsarency with hotel guests. I booked a Deluxe Room and paid a higher price compared to Superior to get a higher floor (since that was the main difference), but I was given a Superior room without my knowledge. I only realized this after checking out and scrolling through reviews to see others experiencing the same). The hotel did not let me know I was being downgraded, and did not return me the difference of money between the 2 room types. This is unethical. 2) Lack of soundproofing. The soundproof of the room windows are terrible, how thin must the glass be to be able to hear honking and revving of vehicles from the 15th floor (even on my previous stay I was on the 23rd floor and could still hear this), like I am on the road myself. 3) Fire alarm drills. The hotel had fire alarm drills going on and there was no notice, no anmouncements on dates/duration in the rooms or told to us, so hotel guests had no info on how long this would go on for. The drill announcements were repeated at least 10 times at loud volumes through speakers INSIDE of the rooms.The moment the announcements started, there is no way for you to block it out because of how loud it was and how long it lasted. The drill goes on for 8-10 mins before ending just to repeat 3 hours later. This is insanely inconsiderate, because they should have informed guests about this before checking in, so we could plan our day around this. The only silence we got was when we left the hotel. The rooms are fine but it is basic with basic amenities and interior, good size. Their cleanliness is not the best since I saw and caught a few bugs myself. Their showers only had 1 overhead shower, no handheld one, the water pressure is slow. Their service seemed good when checking in, but during our stay it felt like they couldn't be bothered other than anything housekeeping related. To be honest I could ignore ALL these issues if the price was low, but it wasn't. RM305 per night on a weekday is pretty insane to be dealing with all of the issues we encountered during our stay. I even asked for a refund for my 2nd night and they directed me to their manager who gave a long explanation on why they can't. Incredibly disappointing, but at least they gave us a reason to remember more clearly why we should never return."

"Located behind the back of CIQ, it is quite a convenient location with the new SKS city mall around the vicinity. It is not as noisy as the other reviews shared, aircon is working fine as well. Staffs from the counter to the cafe have a good conduct of English. Room service is fast as well. Overall, very worth and pleasant sta"

"Our overall stay was great! The breakfast spread was impressive, with a wide variety of delicious food, and we really enjoyed the warm hospitality from all the staff. I had requested a little complimentary surprise for my husband’s belated birthday and our upcoming wedding anniversary, and to our surprise, they prepared two cakes for us! Such a sweet and thoughtful gesture that made our stay even more special. We truly felt pampered throughout our stay. Thank you, DoubleTree Johor Bahru! ❤️"

"Quiet, Strategic location with access to nearby restaurants."

"Very new and nicely decorated hotel. Great value for a family of four at this price. The location is excellent, with many restaurants and convenience stores nearby. One thing we really appreciated was the thoughtful bathroom layout. The toilet, shower area, and wash basin are separated, which allowed all four of us to use them at the same time. This was especially convenient for a family. They also provide some complimentary light snacks, coffee, and orange juice. There is even a Coway water dispenser available for guests, which was a nice touch. Overall, a very comfortable and convenient stay. Highly recommended for families!"

"Second time here hehe i just love the location! Shopping mall, supermarket and many fun activities are all nearby so it was really convenient for families. Room cleanliness fairly ok. What bothered me most were the obvious stains on rug and fabric chair. Breakfast spread not extensive but food was nice. In-room dining was not bad too! Caramel banana toast from pendas cafe was reaaaaaaally good!! Still enjoyed our stay overall!"
