I was a bit hesitant after reading the reviews, but I found this place to be a real gem. It's a bit far from the city center, but if you have a car, it's absolutely no problem. Parking is A$25 per night in the standard underground car park. You definitely need a car when visiting Western Australia.
The hotel infrastructure is excellent; this setup would easily qualify as a five-star hotel back home. During the Southern Hemisphere summer, the indoor pool was closed, but the outdoor pool is accessible directly with your room key. You can ask the staff for directions. The beach is right downstairs, and you can spend a whole day there, just like the locals do.
The ocean-view room was stunning; waking up to the sea view was amazing. The room was spacious and very clean upon check-in. However, the hotel is quite large, and the housekeeping on the second day was a bit slow; our room hadn't been cleaned by 4 PM when we returned, so we just grabbed fresh towels and skipped the cleaning. The breakfast buffet was delicious and plentiful.
This area is a lively hub. Every summer, Western Australia hosts Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night markets, and Scarborough is where the Thursday night market takes place. The area around the hotel becomes incredibly vibrant, feeling like all of Perth has descended upon it.
Downstairs, there are various restaurants, including a Thursday Special Steak deal, offering a 30% discount. A 300g steak for A$30-40 is an amazing and delightful deal. There's a Coles supermarket within a 5-minute walk, where everything is cheaper – anyone who's traveled to Australia will understand.
Everything was so relaxing; I hope to come back soon.

I stayed for 6 days, and it was my first time staying in an overseas hostel! Regarding amenities, nothing is provided, so you need to bring your own shampoo, body wash, etc. There are only showers. The cleanliness depends on the room you're in. My room was a bit messy because I was sharing it with someone who had been staying there for a long time. The hallway had boots and shoes from guests, but it wasn't inconvenient to walk through.
The communal kitchen and lobby were great for relaxing, which I really appreciated. There's also an exclusive guest area on the first floor where you can play games or eat. Since I was traveling solo this time, I didn't usually use it, but I found out about it when I had dinner with my roommate once. The reception staff were polite, energetic, and made for a pleasant experience.
It was also possible to store luggage after check-out; it was set up so you could put your bags in a luggage room yourself.
This motel has a very retro style – or rather, it's just plain old. It feels like a 50s or 60s building, and the facilities everywhere show their age:
First, let's talk about the less-than-satisfactory aspects:
· Outdated hardware: The lighting is dim, and the most unbelievable thing is that they're still using window air conditioners.
· Poor soundproofing: The guests next door checked out and left at 5 AM the next morning, and I could hear their car starting clearly. Light sleepers should definitely beware.
· Basic toiletries: While shampoo and shower gel are provided, their quality leaves much to be desired. You need to bring your own toothbrush and cup, which can be a bit awkward if you forget.
But there are also some highlights:
· The shower water pressure is strong and hot, which is perfect for washing away the fatigue after a long journey.
· Family-friendly bed layout: 1 large bed + 1 single bed, just right for three adults and one child.
· Microwave is very practical: In the morning, I heated up the previous day's #1 ranked pie and baguette from Mount Barker and enjoyed breakfast in the room, which was quite pleasant.
· Good location: About a 20-minute drive from Bald Head and only 1.8km from town, making it convenient for visiting attractions and finding food.
Summary: If you're just looking for a cheap place to stay overnight and don't have high expectations for the facilities, this place is barely acceptable. However, if you're a light sleeper or prioritize comfort, I recommend looking elsewhere. It's okay for a casual overnight stay, but don't expect a comfortable experience.
This hotel has a standard motel setup, where you can park right in front of your room. The facilities and cleanliness are perfectly adequate for a short stay during a trip. Breakfast is mostly cold items, but it's enough to fill you up. Of course, you can also order hot food for an additional charge.

Facilities: Decent, but they provide disposable toothbrushes without toothpaste.
Cleanliness: Could be better; there were grease stains on the curtains.
Environment: Very close to the river, and the indoor environment is also good.
Service: The front desk staff had a good attitude. However, it's been three days and my deposit hasn't been refunded yet. I'm also unsure how much they've deducted. It's unsettling.

Place is old, and somewhat outdated, and u do hear the traffic from the freeway. But, for the cost for the night, which was $120, overall, it was good value for money. When I first arrived, as it was after hours, I dealt with the caretaker, who was friendly, and also helped me get into my room, cos I was having trouble with the door lock, which was my fault! I didn't use the kitchen facilities, except the fridge, but kitchen was equipped with enough items to be able to cook a meal easily. Bathroom was good, with shower over bath, (and big size bath too), so with not having a bath at home, I soaked for ages! I was informed before arrival, that only mini soap and toilet paper was provided, so I knew to bring body wash, hair conditioner, and other toiletries. Bed was comfy, and bedroom is quite large. TV maybe a little small, but the room had a couple of cupboards, and some hangers for clothes. Place was fairly clean, keeping in mind that it is an older property. Check out was easy, and I was met by a friendly receptionist behind the desk. I would definately stay again, if the price was as good, I'd just bring some earplugs for sleep, cos of traffic noise, which is no fault of the apartments of course!

The entrance was a bit hard to find, as it's in the same building as the Perth campus. You have to ring a doorbell to get in. Most of the people in the 6-bed dorm seem to be long-term residents. They either come back around 11 PM or leave by 4-5 AM, which really disturbed my sleep. The common areas also felt quite empty and lacked atmosphere.

The room was clean, and the family room we booked was quite spacious, with a fridge and microwave, which made it super convenient to heat up takeout.
The area around the hotel is packed with all sorts of specialty restaurants, mostly Asian ones. You'll find Vietnamese, Indian, Malaysian, Japanese, Korean, and even Chinese restaurants – basically everything! Right next door to the hotel, there's also a massive Asian supermarket, run by a ********* owner, and it's incredibly well-stocked. Grabbing some instant meals from there can definitely save you money on dining out.
The sky in South Australia is always so clear and blue, but the UV is really strong. Luckily, the room had those solid blackout curtains that created a perfect environment for a good night's sleep. Staying at this hotel was just incredibly convenient for eating and shopping.

Perfect location for a short stay. The hotel is central, there is a wonderful bar and restaurant if it gets late and you prefer to stay in. We had a drink at the bar and enjoyed the ambiance of the place. There’s a pool and gym which is great to have on hot days. It was close to many shops and restaurants which is ideal as you don’t have to travel far also to enjoy the pier and city views.

Great
OOur adventuresFantastic location and beautiful hotel.
The swimming pool is fantastic .
I was disappointed with the hotel rooms as they are old and needs updating to match the rest of the hotel standards and furnishings.
Service was quite slow even though it was not busy for a Monday.
The iPad in the room that controls the blinds and lights only working when it wanted to.
Very over priced for accommodation and food.
SShulanyueliangjiaThis place is perfect for solo travelers. You often face all sorts of issues like finding food, drinks, and entertainment when traveling alone, but everything here is taken care of. Plus, there are lots of robots, and the price is very affordable. Among all the mainstream travel agencies, this one is excellent. The service attitude is fantastic and very welcoming. It's highly recommended for a relaxing stay, whether you're a solo female traveler or traveling with friends.
GGuest UserThe room was clean. There was daily housekeeping. The bathroom doesn’t have much except a hairdryer. The hotel staff was also very friendly and attended to us. Facilities were good, there’s a swimming pool, a gym and a restaurant.
GGuest UserVery close to Perth Airport with a free shuttle service. The staff were excellent and willing to accommodate our departure time. The hotel's central island features a slide panel, allowing for flexible configurations. Both the service and food at the hotel restaurant were great.
GGuest UserIf you stay consecutively, you need to clean the room. You must go to the front desk to remind the hotel to clean the room and replenish the supplies in the room, otherwise the hotel will not clean the room for guests staying consecutively. However, the hotel environment is still good.
AAnonymous UserGreat and friendly service. Good location. Comfortable bed and shower. AC was noisy and didn’t work well. It all looks very outdated but it’s good value for your money. Breakfast was fine. I hope they will change the paper cups for glasses and mugs.
XXian 81We always have a lovely comfortable stay here. Close to airport and Belmont shopping. The shuttle bus to airport is so handy and baggage storage is never a problem here. Thanks for another great stay Great Eastern!!!!
GGuest UserThe hotel is located in the city center, but it's a 15-minute walk to Perth Station. If you don't like walking, I wouldn't recommend it. There are plenty of restaurants nearby, so you won't have trouble finding food. As for service, it really depends on which front desk staff you encounter. Out of the three I met, one had a very indifferent, poker-faced attitude throughout, while another was incredibly friendly, always smiling, and even slowed down their speech for us as foreigners. So, it's hard to judge the service consistently. However, the hardware facilities are quite basic. You have to insert your room card into a slot, wait for it to turn green, and then pull it out before you can press the elevator or open the door. It seems like a very old-fashioned and inconvenient design.

GgeorginaxoxoThe room is a bit old, but the location is truly central, with Dior, LV, and Chanel right downstairs. The bedding is quite clean, and the room size is decent, with a sofa, dining table, and kitchen, making it very suitable for tourists. It's also budget-friendly and offers great value for money. Across the road, there's a Coles supermarket, plenty of eateries nearby, and a 7-Eleven. Northbridge is also very close.
The only downside is that the city center gets quite noisy at night, with drunken people on the bar street. For safety, it's best not to go out at night.
An Uber to the airport takes about 30 minutes.
