Hotel the Grandee Shinsaibashi

Osaka|0.04km from UCCJ Shimanouchi Church
Room 612 Amethyst Room Price at the time Jan 25-Jan26: $270 Total tax and all. Location: Good location a little bit away from the busy central areas where its noisier but close enough to get to in 10 min walk. Decor: A bit quirky with inlaid amethyst stone in a rock wall. Modern styling. A display case of meteorites inside a locked glass cabinet. (no joke there really is a meteorite display case next to your toilet, see picture.) Comfort: The Amethyst Room was spacious and the bed seems to be a California King Size bed with ample room to sprawl out. There is a very huge sofa and a large bath tub with ambient lighting and water jet function in the bath. In addition the toilet is located in a separate private room on the other side of the room. Extra perks and entertainment: Huge TV display, premium coffee maker, a work desk, nice ambient lighting with a star simulated sky above the bed. Bulgari Soap set for those who care about luxury goods. Nice Sony and Harman Kardon sound systems to play music while you get ready. Staff: Friendly, Helpful and Professional. I was 3 hours late waking up for my flight out of Osaka,(I blame that comfortable bed, just couldn't get out of it) I rushed out and the staff was helpful in getting me on the go quickly, they were unable to procure a cab due to the weather so the staff pointed me in the right direction in the rain to get to the closest Taxi stand without hesitation.

We loved the location of this hotel as we were surrounded by metro line choices and proximity to both Osaka and Shin-Osaka train station (2 and 4 stops away respectively). It matched up with our itinerary as we made Osaka our base for exploring and went to Universal Studios, Kyoto and Nara for day trips and it all seemed relatively convenient from here. When we arrived our room was ready and they allowed us to check in 30 minutes early. The hotel has some extra toiletries in the lobby but the room was pretty well equipped. The lobby area also has a restaurant that serves both an affordable ramen dinner and a buffet breakfast. The breakfast is absolutely worth it here and if you don't book it with your stay, it is a steal at 1200 yen per adult. The breakfast has a good combination of gyoza dumplings, chicken dishes, tempura, Japanese soups and a salad station. The lobby restaurant also has a refreshment station where you can get coffee, water, green tea or pop 24/7. The room was very comfy and quiet and was a little bit bigger than most rooms we stayed in. We got a good night's rest here and felt ready to explore each day. The bathroom was a bit small and my head was nearly hitting the ceiling in the shower but great pressure and easily adjustable temperature. The toiletries provided were good quality too. The room had a kettle, mini fridge, large TV, an air purifier and a work station. The hotel is very close to Dotonbori area but far enough away that it is quiet. The whole area outside is a little messy with many tourists leaving their garbage wherever. We were here during the Japanese New Year celebrations so many restaurants were closed but there were still plenty of options nearby.

This hotel is about 10 minutes away from the subway station (Nihonbashi Station), four stations to the four corners intersection. There is an elevator on one of the exits. If you take a ride, it’s about 1,000 yen. 👈It is convenient for the elderly and children. I booked a twin room, 23 square meters, with bathtub. Open two big baskets👍 All new and clean There are many places for charging and plugging, and wifi is OK All normal supplies are available The mattress and mattress are all ok. There is air conditioning, which I like, and the heating is not available even in winter. Hot spring, on the 13th floor, there are two sauna rooms for more than 40 people, one with cold water and one with cold water. The hot spring is not big, and there are not many people there after 10 o'clock in the evening. Just check the time yourself. There are several shower stations with private lockers, normal skin care products, showers, and combs. ☝️10am-3pm cleaning⛔ There are smoking rooms on some floors. There are also automatic drink machines (which are not expensive) There is a Lawson downstairs from the hotel and a Family Mart diagonally opposite. There is a 24hrs aeon in about 5mins. Dotonbori and Shinsaibashi are also very convenient. Disadvantages: Free ramen at night, ma ma place 😂, it will be a waste of time to eat again😝 Breakfast is average in variety and not many choices. Basically everything is OK, not worth the money to eat. Measure it yourself😂 Also, they won't help you with the room service, they will only give you basic towels per person. There will also be no bottled water provided every day. When you see the butler, ask him and he will compare with you. But it will not be provided automatically, except for the left towel The restaurant on the 2nd floor has a 24hrs microwave and disposable tableware outside. Consider it, but don't have high expectations. A normal hotel with a hot spring in the city center. 🈵5 points is the best ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 🚽Tidy: 4.5/5 💲Price: 4/5 🆚CP value: 4/5 🌆Environment: 4/5 💪Service: 4.5/5 😍Return rate: 4. 5/5 -------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------- (The above content is purely personal opinion and is for reference only)

The location of the hotel is very good 👍 just one minute walk from the subway station. There are underground shopping malls in the subway station! There are also many restaurants around the hotel. There are many types of restaurants to choose from. It only takes three minutes to walk to Shinsaibashi shopping street. The rooms are clean and tidy and larger than those in ordinary Japanese hotels. I highly recommend them to anyone who likes it. Shopping people and family outings are also very suitable for choosing this hotel. There is a free washer dryer in the lobby on the first floor, which is very convenient! !

MIMARU Osaka Shinsaibashi East
4.8/542 Reviews
We stayed for 5 nights at Mimaru Shinsaibashi East - it was the largest hotel room we’ve ever been in Japan. The rooms were clean, tasteful, and they thought of everything - I especially loved that you could rent items like an Apple TV, UNO cards etc. They also gave you coins to redeem for little things like sake tastings and snacks which was very fun. The hotel is centrally located and surrounded by eateries, convenience stores and it’s around the corner from a 24hour supermarket - it’s a really great option for a family. It is a short 5 minute walk from the main Shinsaibashi shopping strip, and 10 minutes to the Glico man. I would definitely try to stay here again when I come back to Osaka!

More about Osaka

Introduction to Osaka

Osaka, Japan's third-largest city, is a dynamic metropolis known for its modern architecture, lively nightlife, and hearty street food culture. It is located in the Kansai region on the main island of Honshu. Osaka's friendly locals and a myriad of attractions, including historic landmarks, theme parks, and shopping districts, provide a compelling contrast to Tokyo's hustle and bustle.

Tips for Travelling to Osaka

Osaka is served by two airports: Kansai International Airport and Itami Airport, with Kansai being the primary gateway for international travelers. The city has an excellent public transportation system, including JR trains, subways, and buses. Japan's famous bullet trains also connect Osaka with other major cities.

The official currency is the Japanese Yen (JPY), and while credit cards are widely accepted, it's worth carrying some cash for smaller establishments. The official language is Japanese, and while English is not commonly spoken by older locals, younger generations and service staff at tourist attractions usually have a good understanding.

Visa requirements for Japan vary depending on your country of origin, so always check in advance. Many countries enjoy visa-free access for short-term visits.

Popular Attractions in Osaka

Dotonbori is Osaka's entertainment heart, with its iconic Glico Man sign, an array of restaurants, and exciting street performances. A visit to Osaka Castle, one of Japan's most famous landmarks, is essential.

Universal Studios Japan, a popular theme park featuring Harry Potter World, is a favorite among families. Explore the Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan, one of the largest public aquariums in the world, or shop 'til you drop in the Shinsaibashi Shopping Arcade.

Weather, Best Time to Visit, and What to Wear

Osaka experiences four distinct seasons. The spring (March-May) and fall (September-November) are the best times to visit, with pleasant temperatures and beautiful cherry blossoms or fall colors. Summers can be hot and humid, while winters are mild but chilly. Depending on the season of your visit, pack accordingly - light, breathable clothing for summer, and warm layers for winter.

Choosing Your Ideal Hotel in Osaka

Osaka offers a wide range of accommodations to suit different travel needs. If you're looking for luxury near attractions, the Intercontinental Osaka in Umeda or Conrad Osaka offer top-notch services and amenities. The Swissotel Nankai Osaka is conveniently located above Nankai Namba Station for easy transportation access.

Budget travelers might find Hotel Monterey Grasmere Osaka or Hearton Hotel Kitaumeda appealing. Instagrammers would love Hotel The Flag Shinsaibashi, recognized for its minimalist design and excellent location.
