12Fly Hotel Kuala Lumpur

On 7 Dec 19, I arrived KL before midnight and walk into 12Fly Hoyel @ Jln Tong Shin to make a booking. After taking down my particulars I was ask to pay a total Rm170. As I was in a rush for this last minute business trip I forgot to bring my credit cards except cash in Singapore dollars. I requested to leave SGD100 (equivalent to Rm300) as a deposit and the next day before I check out I will go to a money changer and pay them Rm 170. The immediate reply I got was the hotel do not accept foreign currency. I said Iunderstand but I'm only requesting to leave this SGD100 as a deposit and will pay the exact change before I check out the next day. And beside, now is already pass midnight and where am I going to find a money changer at this hour. The guy at the Reception ask me go walk down the road and ask, and he gives me until 2am. Frankly I'm exhausted after a long drive from Singapore and instead of arguing, I said ok let me go wash up and I'll go and check if I find a money changer. I went up to the room and the aircon was not working at all. Immediately I call the reception and he said someone will come to check. I sat on the bed waiting and after 15 mins nobody came. I called again and the same person told me someone is coming and to wait. I waited another 10 mins and still nobody came. By now I was not only tired but furious and mad because imaging sitting in an enclosed room without aircon. Immediately I took my luggage and walk out of the room. When I reach the lobby reception there were 2 guys, the reception and the room service staff sitting side by side chatting and they wasn't evening serving any customers. Not being able to contained my cool, I slam the room key at the table and said this is the last time I'm ever going to walk into this hotel and walk away. What I'm pissed so off is the service mentality and the attitude of the Reception. In my years of travelling, I've never encountered such pathetic service in the hotel industry. Andrew Tan

Ok there are 2 D'OR Hotels and situated just a walking distance to each other. I stayed in D'OR HOTEL BUKIT BINTANG in 16 Jalan Bukit Bintang. And i would say its super clean, bedsheets and towels are super white no stains and the rooms are always cleaned up and tissues and mineral water given everyday. The airconditioning is super cold. The hotel personnels are very helpful. I experienced accidentally leaving my bag with laptops in my grab car and it is the hotel personnel who helped me all the way until i recover it. The hotel location is so good for those who like to go around at night. Its situated just walking distance to all street foods and night life. The downside part of this hotel is that there is no window. There is no hotel food. They do offer free hot and cold water near the info counter. Its very easy to locate its just infront of Federal Hotel.

A good location at bukit bintang which nearest to Jalan Alor, it just only the besides street. You may use the alley that only besides the hotel to get the fast access to Jalan alor, and by using the another alley at Jln Alor, you can easily to access to Low Yat and go to Times Square and Lalaport shopping mall. For those travellers who have lots of luggage will not recommended to stay because it might bit of far from MRT bukit bintang, you need to walk around 4-7 mins to reach the hotel unless you use tekxi services or you have your own transportation which car park is provided.

We enjoyed this hotel which had bags of character. It's location is great with easy access to the Metro and Monorail. It's just around the corner from Jalon Alor which was great for eating out each night. We found the staff pleasant and helpful. Breakfasts were plentiful and enjoyable. Unfortunately I feel I cannot give it 5 stars due to the street noise which disturbed me very early each morning. Whilst our room at the front was charming and spacious, I think you might do better asking for one at the back away from the traffic.

First off, be aware that there is a foreigner tax in KL, so you will have to pay an extra 10/night. This hotel also charges a R50 security deposit that you get back when you leave. Having said that - the hotel is located in a very convenient location. surrounded by local eateries and convenience stores. To the left is a street of pubs and to the right a street of massage parlours (both legitimate and otherwise). 10 minute walk to shopping and Western style restaurants, also to the Hop on/Hop off tour bus stop. 20 min walk to the Towers. 45 min drive from the airport (around R70 with Grab). As for the room itself, I was in a cheaper room so had no window. The room was very small. Everytime I got out of bed I hit my foot on the wall. and I had to walk sideways to get into the bathroom. Other than that, the room was clean but old, and the bed was comfortable. Very poor shower pressure and temperature, and the wifi was also very bad. Also be aware that this hotel doesn't provide toothbrushes. And you will need a power converter to plug in your phone. If they had a larger room available, I would consider staying here again. Mostly because of the staff and the location. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful.

All About Kuala Lumpur

Say hello to Kuala Lumpur, a dazzling city that sits at the heart of Malaysia, both geographically and culturally. It's not just the capital city but the epitome of Malaysia's rapid urban development and rich heritage. Kuala Lumpur, or "KL" as locals call it, is more than just steel-clad skyscrapers and luxury shopping malls; it's a vibrant melting pot of diverse cultures, gastronomic delights, and hidden gems waiting to be explored. Did you know that Kuala Lumpur translates to "Muddy Confluence" in Malay, referring to the spot where the Klang and Gombak rivers merge?

Kuala Lumpur Travel Essentials

Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) is your main entry point, boasting top-notch facilities and an efficient Express Rail Link (ERL) service that takes you straight to the city centre. For moving around the city, KL's public transportation is commendable with MRTs, LRTs, and taxis available at your convenience.

The city primarily uses the Malaysian Ringgit for transactions, and credit cards are widely accepted. While Bahasa Malaysia is the national language, English is commonly spoken in business and tourist areas, making it easy for international travellers.

As for visa requirements, always check the latest information with your local Malaysian embassy or consulate. Generally, nationals from various countries are allowed to enter Malaysia without a visa for tourism purposes.

The iconic Petronas Twin Towers, the tallest twin towers in the world, is an absolute must-see. For history enthusiasts, Merdeka Square and the Sultan Abdul Samad Building paint a vivid picture of Malaysia's past. Nature lovers will enjoy the lush Kuala Lumpur Bird Park, while food aficionados should not miss Jalan Alor, a bustling food street boasting a wide array of local dishes.

Navigating Kuala Lumpur's Weather

Kuala Lumpur enjoys a tropical rainforest climate, where sunshine and showers can happen in the same day. Temperatures in KL usually range from 22°C to 33°C. While the city is ideal to visit year-round, the best times are from May to July and December to February when rainfall is minimal. It's advisable to pack lightweight clothing, a raincoat or umbrella, and comfortable shoes for city exploration.
