Hostels in Powys, United Kingdom

When you book country pub/hotels you don't expect 5* service, you expect to experience local life. In the pub there was a definite abundance of that, and we had a lot of fun. The food was not bad and the cask ale excellent. The room was small but ensuite and clean. The issue for me was the heat. Even though the weather was cold n damp the room was boiling hot - in part due to underfloor pipes. I had to open the window and try and lean against the wall to keep cool. I went for breakfast early leaving my partner to sleep. The breakfast was a cold buffet ( cooked breakfast weekends only) and was perfectly fine. The lady on breakfast duty chatted away constantly pushing for me to drag my partner downstairs. We were the only residents so I didn't see the urgency. After breakfast the same lady was knocking on the room door to tell us we should have vacated the room by 10. How early is that! The result being we had to pay £25 as a late checkout fee. Leaving is with the feeling that we weren't guests just an inconvenience.

A little out of the way, but a lovely and comfortable stay. The room was nicely renovated, with a modern new bathroom and a very comfortable bed. Free parking is available, which is a big plus for those travelling by car. The breakfast was excellent, with a great selection and freshly cooked to order. Do note that the hotel bar and restaurant are closed on Mondays, so dinner needs to be arranged elsewhere if staying that night. Overall, a cosy and well-renovated country inn with a comfortable bed, great breakfast and convenient free parking.

A very characterful and charming B&B, with a warm welcome, excellent food and great local ales. The room was very comfortable, and had everything I needed for my short stay.

Stayed here for 2 nights and it was just right. The check in was easy and staff friendly. We had dinner here the first night which was ok. The room was a decent size and the private facilities good. The kitchen was well stocked with pots and pans etc and there was plenty of room in the fridges. The bed was comfy and the rooms were clean.
