This is one of the largest hostels I've stayed in in recent years. The social common areas are also huge, but completely separate from the sleeping quarters, so they don't disturb your sleep at all. There are plenty of bathrooms and laundry facilities, so you never have to worry about them being insufficient.
In the evening, I played some ball and chatted with some young students in the common area, reliving some college memories. That night, four US boys in my dorm were buying tickets to go out of town, and I even got to use my rusty English, which I haven't practiced in years. But these were all long-awaited experiences, bringing back the YHA student vibe I hadn't felt in years.

The wooden tables and chairs, high-speed Wi-Fi, and power strips are perfect for travelers who need to work temporarily, organize their itineraries, or charge their devices. The complimentary drinking water is a welcome relief after a tiring journey, and not having to buy extra drinks makes it incredibly good value for money. The common area at Fuzimiao Youth Hostel is both practical and stylish. The combination of green plants, vintage lamps, and bookshelves makes the space more than just a 'functional area' – it's a cozy, healing nook.

This was my first time staying in an all-female hostel, and I was so impressed! 🥳🥳
First off, the location is fantastic – just a few hundred meters from the metro station, with lots of great food options nearby.
The front desk staff are super sweet and understanding. The rooms are incredibly neat and clean, and you're not allowed to eat in the sleeping area (which prevents odors – so thoughtful!). There's a dedicated vanity area, and the atmosphere is just lovely~
The common area is also decorated very warmly~ You often see groups of girls chatting and having meals together. I'll definitely stay here again next time I'm in Nanjing!

Backpackers Hostel (Shinian), a famous name among backpackers, and having read many reviews about its supposedly poor hygiene and slow elevators, I decided to book a stay in Suzhou. Honestly, it wasn't bad at all! The only real issue was the trash cans in the bathrooms; they weren't emptied frequently enough and often overflowed. The cleaning staff seemed a bit lazy – why can't they check the bathrooms once an hour? As for the elevators, I thought they were fine. With three elevators, I only had to wait a few minutes at most.

Fantastic hostel. I was sad to leave. Staff super kind and helpful. Bed very comfortable. Located right in the tourist district, super easy to access the central sites. The common area is wonderful,, with lots of comfortable seating and great views of the busy street - feels like a coffee shop. Strong and reliable wifi.
Free hot and warm drinking water, plus a microwave.
Cons
- In winter the whole place was very cold, as they leave the windows open in the bathroom and common areas even when it's 13 degrees. Had to wear two jackets all the time.
- Because it's in the tourist district, there's mostly just overpriced tourist restaurants around. Walk a few blocks west and there's normal neighborhoods with better options.
True to its international youth hostel roots, the location is incredibly convenient and it boasts a distinct artistic flair. The rooms don't come with tissue boxes or complimentary bottled water, but there's a purified water dispenser available at reception. It was very quiet this season; perhaps all the former hostel-dwellers have simply grown older. While there are common areas for guests to mingle, they were completely deserted. The owner was engrossed in his guitar, with a little Teddy dog faithfully by his side.

Location: Very close to Zhenjiang Railway Station, just across the street, a 10-15 minute walk. Located in Changfa Plaza, next to Wanda Plaza. Convenient shopping; there's a large supermarket, ”Changshen Supermarket,” in the basement; Changfa Plaza has many restaurants, including Haidilao and Yong'an Fish Restaurant, and even plenty of street food stalls, catering to various price ranges.
Environment & Facilities: The hostel is on the 4th floor of Building 5, easy to find with the map provided by the owner. The total area isn't large, but it's well-equipped. Upon entering, there's a common lounge area, small but complete with sofas, a dining table, a refrigerator, microwave, water dispenser, and a washing machine. Attention to detail is also evident, with a dedicated slipper sterilizer and ample clothes hangers. There are two shower rooms for women, even with shower gel and shampoo. There's only one squat toilet, but since there aren't many guests and everyone has different schedules, it's sufficient. All rooms have bunk beds, the difference being between four-person and eight-person rooms. There are approximately 3-4 rooms each for men and women.
Each bed comes with a strip lamp, a small cabinet, a charging socket, disposable toothbrush/toothpaste, and earplugs. The only slight drawback is the lack of storage space for large luggage; you have to put it under the bed or simply toss it on the bed.
The walkway outside allows you to get some sun, and there's a clothes rack where you can hang your clothes to dry.
A bookshelf separates the entryway from the rest area. The bookshelf actually has many worthwhile books; putting down your phone and choosing a book is a pleasant experience.
Most of the guests are young people with different schedules, so we didn't interact much. On the first night, I met a girl who bought fruit to share with everyone; the second night, I met a girl who couldn't get a train ticket to Suzhou and had to take a ferry from Yangzhou to Zhenjiang. I shared my Zhenjiang travel tips with them, hoping everyone had a pleasant trip.
In summary: A very nice hostel where you can feel free and undisturbed, perfect for solo travelers.

This is a youth hostel where you can truly appreciate the owner's dedication; every detail reflects a thorough consideration of guests' needs. It boasts a prime location, just a short walk from Leqiao Metro Station. The value for money is top-notch among similar accommodations. The guests get along well, chatting and playing board games together in a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere.
The overall environment is quite good, and the bedding is changed for every new guest. There are many rest areas in the lobby. The subway station is right downstairs, making it convenient for getting around, and there's a delivery rack for food orders.

It was a great experience. The hostel is very easy to find. The hostess at the front desk speaks English very well and was very nice and friendly. I have stayed in a 4 beds female room for one night. The room was great, it provided sleepers, sheets and even had air conditionning. The showers are okay. The good point was having products in the shower : shampoo, hair conditioner, body wash and even a cleanser for the face ! It was very calm the night that I have stayed. The common space is nice and cozy. I didn't but you can order drinks or brekfast there. It is close to the subway, just a few steps from the bus stop, there a plenty of restaurants in the street and a supermarket across the road. I highly recommend this hostel.

MM886219****It's worth comparing several options, but overall I recommend staying here. The hostel is located in a commercial street with a lot of foot traffic, so if you're looking for work, you might want to stay further away. The cleanliness, service, and common areas are all very good. The downsides are that the room isn't well-ventilated, the upper bunk has no roof, there are huge gaps on the sides, there are no hooks, the light is very small, and the storage cabinet is small and dirty; the water in the bathroom is inconsistently hot and cold, and there's no place to put clothes.

MM802272****Suzhou Narrow Meets Youth Hostel: An Unexpected Gem!
I booked this hostel randomly for my trip to Suzhou, and it exceeded my expectations so much that I just have to praise it!
The location is absolutely fantastic! It's super close to the subway station, just a few minutes' walk, and right across from Guanqian Street, making evening strolls and dining incredibly convenient. If you want to go to Pingjiang Road, you don't need to take a detour; it's about a 5-minute walk. If you go early in the morning, you can even snap photos of the stone bridges without crowds. A taxi to the Humble Administrator's Garden is just the starting fare, so transportation is a breeze.
What surprised me most was the atmosphere! The common areas are really comfortable, and the terrace offers a glimpse of the ancient city. In the evening, people gather to chat, share their travel experiences, and even offer insider tips. The study room is quiet and peaceful, with soft music playing, making it a great place to relax when you don't feel like going out. I stayed in a four-person room with partitions and a password lock. Drawing the curtain creates complete privacy, so it never feels awkward. Occasionally chatting with roommates feels like we've known each other for ages, very familiar.
The facilities are also very thoughtful. There's even a smart toilet and an electric sit-stand desk, far better than any other hostel I've stayed in! The common area has massage chairs, which are heavenly after a day of exploring. There's also a dryer and a shoe sterilizer cabinet – the attention to detail is impressive. The bathrooms are dry-wet separated, and there's plenty of hot water, so no waiting in line.
The front desk staff are incredibly sweet. Upon check-in, they provide a hand-drawn map highlighting good eats and fun places, even local spots where residents often go. If you forget your charger, you can borrow one. The place is cleaned daily, and the bedding is spotless, making for a very comfortable stay.

However, service was excellent here - the boss was very kind and helpful, and the cleaning service was regular. The bed was comfortable, and hot water was in constant supply in the bathroom. The amenities provided were good too, having a kettle, shampoo, and body wash. Hand wash was however lacking by the sink.
Cleanliness perhaps left a little to be desired - my room had seen better days with peeling wallpaper and some stains on the wallpaper too. That being said, it wasn’t such a problem as to make me uncomfortable especially given the affordability of the place.
Thank you for an enjoyable stay!

GGuest UserI loved staying here, it was like staying at an aunts house. The aunties that run the hostel are super sweet and nice, they are very hospitable and make you feel welcomed. The bathrooms are clean and fully stocked with even shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. Only thing is that it’s a family run business and they stay there as well so there is a small child there as well, and at night her dad comes to visit/stay. So it is a woman only hostel but there one man occasionally. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it.
