The hotel has been recently renovated and is clean and tidy. The twin room is spacious enough to comfortably fit two suitcases.
The affiliated parking lot next to the hotel costs 1000 yen for a day. Do NOT park in the downstairs parking lot, as it charges up to 1700 yen.
Free sake and coffee are available in the lobby from 3 PM to 10 PM.
The location is convenient, about a 1 to 1.5-hour drive to Shirakawa-go and Tateyama, making it a good stopover during a trip.
Downstairs, there's a yakitori restaurant and a family izakaya. Diagonally opposite, there are several well-known Omakase restaurants; reservations are recommended.
Breakfast features local Toyama ingredients and unique options, but the selection is limited and the price is a bit high. Overall, the value for money is average, and it's not a must-have.
1. The room was exceptionally clean.
2. The air conditioning worked perfectly.
3. The shower and toilet areas were separate, which is always a plus.
4. The location was great, very close to the station, making public transport easily accessible.
5. The breakfast was good, especially the local specialties from Toyama like the fish cakes and eggplant – definitely worth trying.
On the downside: The underground parking was a bit inconvenient for getting in and out, and the parking fee was more expensive than commercial parking lots outside the hotel.
Came here to relax with the natural hot spring that Toyama is famous for. The waters here are dark brown like soya sauce.
The public bath has several baths including one that is outdoor. There are ample lockers, dressing tables and shower berths.
The laundry room is inside the public bath area. They are separate machines from the dryer. While the washing machines are free, it costs money to use the dryer. The shower cubicle in the hotel room has no shower rail to hang laundry to dry.
The double bed room has a private cypress wood bath tub. It felt good to soak in onsen water in the morning before breakfast. It’s deep enough for someone tall to sit in.
A short walk away is the tram stop. A free tram ride coupon can be obtained from the front desk for international tourists.
My stay at DoubleTree by Hilton Toyama was excellent from start to finish. The hotel is modern, stylish, and very well maintained. Its location is extremely convenient, only a few minutes’ walk from Toyama Station, which made traveling around the city and nearby areas very easy.
The room was thoughtfully designed, clean, and comfortable. Despite being in the city center, it was quiet at night and I had a very good rest. The bed and pillows were especially comfortable after a long day of traveling.
The service was also outstanding. The staff were polite, welcoming, and professional throughout my stay. Check-in was smooth, and the signature warm DoubleTree cookie on arrival was a lovely touch that made the experience even more memorable.
Overall, this is a great hotel choice in Toyama. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting the city.
The front desk staff were super friendly! I accidentally booked a smoking room, but they kindly helped me switch to a non-smoking one. They offer free ramen in the evenings, and there's complimentary whiskey, red wine, and ice cream in the lobby – I couldn't resist having ice cream twice, haha. The location is really convenient; Toyama isn't very big, so you can easily walk to a few famous attractions. If you're visiting Toyama Castle, definitely pop over to the city hall's observation deck for a panoramic view of Toyama, the distant snow-capped mountains are absolutely stunning.
I really enjoyed my stay here. The room is so comfortable and bigger as compared to hotels in Tokyo. The staff are friendly and will answer any questions you have.
The breakfast area have a magnificent view.
I will definitely come back here to stay again. Thank you Toyama Excel Hotel Tokyu!
## Exceptional Stay at Hotel Vischio Toyama
I recently completed a **6-night stay** at Hotel Vischio Toyama, and I cannot recommend it highly enough. From the moment I arrived until the day I checked out, the experience was seamless and incredibly comfortable.
### Outstanding Service
The **front desk receptionists** deserve a special mention. They were consistently professional, polite, and went out of their way to be helpful. Whether it was handling check-in or assisting with local inquiries, their hospitality made me feel truly welcome.
### Room & Amenities
The accommodations exceeded my expectations:
* **Cleanliness:** The room was spotless and maintained to a very high standard throughout my stay.
* **Space:** Unlike many city hotels in Japan, the room felt notably spacious, providing plenty of room to relax and manage luggage.
* **Amenities:** Everything you could possibly need was provided. The amenities were thoughtful and complete, ensuring a ”home away from home” feel.
### Unbeatable Location
The location is perhaps the hotel's strongest selling point:
* **Transport:** It is situated **directly next to Toyama Station**, making it the perfect base for exploring the region or catching the Shinkansen.
* **Convenience:** The hotel sits right above a vibrant **shopping mall**.
* **Dining:** You are spoiled for choice with **numerous eateries** located just floors below the hotel, offering everything from quick bites to authentic local cuisine.
**Verdict:** If you are visiting Toyama, stay here. The combination of professional service, pristine rooms, and a central location makes it the best choice in the city. **Highly recommended!**
This hotel is super convenient, just a 5-minute walk from Toyama Station. The front desk staff spoke fluent English, which was a huge plus. But the real highlight was the breakfast – amazing value for money, and they even had sashimi! Plus, there's a famous sushi restaurant right downstairs.
Really enjoyed that onsen!
This is a fantastic place to stay with an amazing breakfast buffet, a lounge where you can make creative tradition Japanese arts, big rooms, friendly staff and most of all an amazing onsen.
The onsen here is maybe one of the best we’ve been to and we’ve been to a lot, it even offers a cold bath if that’s your kind of thing.
The down sides (which very minor) are the WiFi which was pretty weak and the fact you’d need to have a car to get out there (which we did, but for some this may be a problem).
Nevertheless, this place is a 10/10 would highly recommend.
Walkable distance from toyama station. Overall the room was clean and friendly staff.
Breakfast was average with croissant, eggs & sausages.
Will suggest to improve on the check in & out time & free cancelation.

GGuest UserBeautiful hotel (about 7 min walk to the station) and was a great Ryokan experience as the room was traditional and had a breath-taking view. Futons were sufficiently comfortable - but wished there was the whole Ryokan welcome and fanfare.
Staff was welcoming but did not speak much English though they had papers of English instructions all ready. There was a free shuttle out of the hotel at fixed timings to the nearest Shinkansen (Unazukionsen Station)
Onsen was relaxing and was supplied with good quality products for every aspect of grooming. Lots of vending machines were available, there was a souvenir shop on site though pricey. We just did not enjoy the corridors as it gave out a creepy vibe (due to it being an older establishment), hence, we did not enjoy moving around the hotel). Facilities were beautiful and well preserved.
Food as part of the experience was a good and large helping. We opted for the full seafood experience but it had a lot of sashimi or cured seafood which was not to our own liking (we did not really know what we signed up for, really our fault!) Breakfast was a good spread and really hearty. A lot of traditional and local specialties to experience!
Overall a great stay!

UUMAPORNI had a truly memorable stay at this hotel. Everything was spotlessly clean, and the staff were incredibly attentive and kind throughout my visit. The overall atmosphere gave off a wonderfully authentic Japanese vibe, which made the experience even more special. One of the highlights was the delicious traditional Japanese breakfast — beautifully prepared and full of flavor. What impressed me most was how the hotel made me feel so comfortable and welcome, almost like I was staying at a relative’s home in Japan. It’s a place I would wholeheartedly recommend, and I would love to return again in the future.
CChristine TsoiFor anyone travelling along the Tateyama Alpine route, I would highly recommed a stay on the mountain so you can enjoy the scenery without rushing. We love Ryokan (Traditional Japanese Inn) because they always offer delicious course meals (dinner & breakfast) and a public bath. We even enjoyed a free flow of local sake and liquor at dinner! The Midagahara Hotel even offer hiking guides, boots and stargazing guides after dinner. It was a shame that we did not take the hiking trail due to the weather condition (foggy and low visibility), but the stargazing part did not disappoint - we were able to see a sky full of stars by our bare eyes. If we could withstand the cold we could have seen the Milky Way. The hotel shop also offers a wide range of local specialties. We had a nice sleep in our Japanese style room and woke up to a sea of clouds. I would recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to the Tateyama Alpine route.
