The location is a bit out of the way, but it wasn't a problem since we were driving. Although it's an older-style inn, it was clean and tidy. There were also quite a few locals staying there. They offered snack sharing in the afternoon and evening. The most pleasant surprise was the incredibly rich breakfast. I would definitely choose this inn again next time.

MiaowuFantastic location, right next to the JR station, above the fifth floor of a shopping mall. The room was spacious, clean, and tidy, with great service. The breakfast was also excellent, with delicious sushi, glowing squid, and soba noodles – all my favorites! We stayed for two nights and even got to see the snow-capped mountains from the top floor.

Guest UserI chose to stay at a hotel in Toyama because I was eager to see the city with its snow-capped mountains. This was my first time staying at a Nikko Hotel. The service was standardized, and I didn't feel much warmth, which also reflects my overall impression of Toyama – it has the cool, stark feeling of a northern city. The breakfast selection wasn't extensive, but the taste was decent. You have to proactively ask the front desk for the complimentary tram pass.

Guest UserStayed in a standard twin room for 2 nights. The room is slightly too warm as it operates on a central heating system. The rest of the hotel facilities are excellent. The staff are warm and friendly. If you do not want to have your room made up, they reward you with 2 QR codes which you can use at the vending machine behind the front desk.
We chose this hotel as it was a street across the Shirakawago express bus stop operated by the Toyama Chitetsu Bus company. It was really convenient for us to use it to explore Toyama as well as take a day trip to Shirakawago.

kyonshawA very charming accommodation. The staff, though their English was limited, were very welcoming, and the bath was very comfortable. The facilities, while old, were not run-down, and the price remained reasonable even during holidays.

Guest UserThe hotel room is newly renovated and very bright, making for a comfortable stay. The TV is a new smart TV, so you can watch YouTube. The lobby even offers welcome drinks, which is a thoughtful touch.
The hotel's location is convenient; it's only about a 5-10 minute ride on the light rail from Toyama Station, and the trains run frequently, so you don't have to worry about long waits. There's also a Family Mart and a 7-Eleven nearby, perfect for grabbing late-night snacks.
The only minor drawback is that the sound insulation of the room door isn't great. If guests speak loudly in the corridor late at night or early in the morning, you can hear it quite clearly.

Christine TsoiFor anyone travelling along the Tateyama Alpine route, I would highly recommed a stay on the mountain so you can enjoy the scenery without rushing. We love Ryokan (Traditional Japanese Inn) because they always offer delicious course meals (dinner & breakfast) and a public bath. We even enjoyed a free flow of local sake and liquor at dinner! The Midagahara Hotel even offer hiking guides, boots and stargazing guides after dinner. It was a shame that we did not take the hiking trail due to the weather condition (foggy and low visibility), but the stargazing part did not disappoint - we were able to see a sky full of stars by our bare eyes. If we could withstand the cold we could have seen the Milky Way. The hotel shop also offers a wide range of local specialties. We had a nice sleep in our Japanese style room and woke up to a sea of clouds. I would recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to the Tateyama Alpine route.

Peter028The room was spacious and comfortable, and the hotel is right next to Toyama Station. The hot spring bath was very modern, and it was great to have both a cold plunge and a sauna. However, we stayed for several days, and every time we went to the hot spring, there were quite a few people; perhaps there are many guests and the pool isn't very large. It seems the hotel doesn't offer breakfast? Even though there's a convenience store right outside the lobby. The most inexplicable thing is why there isn't a dedicated hotel parking lot? We had to find parking nearby every time, which was quite inconvenient.

The hotel is really close to the station, right between the North and South exits. When you come out, head right towards the M shopping mall. Walk a few steps along the side of the mall, and you'll find the hotel diagonally opposite the Toyota car rental. The staff were all very friendly, and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was quite generous, and there's a 24-hour drink bar. The hot water for the coffee machine is at the very bottom, indicated by a red button. Just across the street, in the mall, there's that delicious sushi restaurant with self-service ordering – it's fresh and tasty!
