Hotels With Breakfast in Shanxi, China

A rather mediocre experience. I've been a Ctrip member for 15 years and rarely leave bad reviews, so I'll give this a passing grade of 3.0. The main reasons for the average experience were: 1. My baby had a fever in the middle of the night and couldn't get up the next day. I wanted to take some breakfast back to the room, but they wouldn't allow it, and the staff's attitude was quite stiff. At over 1700 RMB for two nights for three adults and one child, the price wasn't cheap. Since the hotel couldn't be understanding towards me, I can't be understanding towards them in my rating. 2. There must be floor heating or central air conditioning, because the room was extremely dry, even drier than indoors in Beijing during the heating season.

🌟 Amenities: There's a beautiful fountain ⛲️ at the entrance. I'd wanted to stay here since my first night in Taiyuan, and I finally made it! 🌟 Even though the Kempinski Hotel Taiyuan is a bit older, an old Ferrari is still a Ferrari, right? 🌟 The service was excellent. We sent our luggage over before we even arrived, with the driver. When we called the front desk, they immediately helped us arrange everything. Upon arrival, we just gave our name and our bags were brought right over. It was very thoughtful and heartwarming. 🌟 The breakfast was delicious, and they had my favorite cucumber juice. Breakfast ends at 10:30 AM.

Sanmei Boutique Hotel is located in a bustling area of Taiyuan, making it incredibly convenient for getting around. The rooms are clean and well-maintained, and the facilities are comprehensive. I especially appreciate that each room comes with a washing machine, which is very handy for guests to do their laundry. The staff are warm, attentive, and provide excellent service. Overall, it's a great choice!

The hotel is very suitable for early flight guests, the environment is quiet, the room is big enough, the basic facilities are available, the shower room has a good amount of hot water, the front desk sisters are very warm, the room is very suitable for our needs, I learned that we are going to catch the early flight, and also intimately arrange early and drop-off service, good, Worth praise!

Facilities: Fully equipped, ready for immediate move-in. Hygiene: Clean and tidy. Environment: Located on a street in the ancient town, very convenient for getting around. Service: Attentive and thoughtful. The staff proactively informed us about attractions and recommended itineraries.

The staff were so so friendly and super nice!!! Told them it was our honeymoon and there was a handwritten note with fruits and snacks waiting for us on the table. They didn't have to, but they did ☺️ when we left, we were rushing for the train and didn't have time to eat breakfast. The staff were so concerned we were skipping breakfast she quickly packed some food for us to go and even ran after us to pass us cutlery because she forgot to pack some. Would recommend staying here 10/10!

The hotel's location is excellent, within walking distance of the ancient city. The facilities are of a high standard; although a bit older, they are well-maintained. The room was spacious, bright, and airy, facing the ancient city with beautiful night views. The hotel breakfast offered local specialties, including knife-cut noodles and lamb offal soup, all readily available. The local farm milk, in particular, had an amazing taste. During my stay, I accidentally left my coffee cup in the restaurant. Ms. Zhang Ruiqi, the assistant manager, went above and beyond to help me find it and return it to my room, despite the trouble I caused. Her warmth and professionalism were truly impressive.

🏯 I chose the Yanmenwang Jiubao Hotel, located right at the starting line of the Yanmenguan ultra-trail race and next to the Yanmenguan scenic area. It completely exceeded my expectations. The hotel itself is designed with a traditional fortress and Chinese courtyard aesthetic. With its grey brick walls, vermilion eaves, and red lanterns reflecting the blue sky, walking on the flagstone paths felt like stepping back into an ancient pass. Every photo I took looked like it belonged in a historical drama. The room design was an absolute showcase of Chinese aesthetics, featuring double wooden doors with brass handles that opened into a spacious courtyard-style room. It boasted a red-toned storage shelf, an oversized wooden-edged bathtub, cloud-patterned carpets, and a duplex layout. Being right at the ultra-trail race's starting point was incredibly convenient. The hotel opened in 2026, so all the facilities are brand new. Beyond that, the room offered an excellent sense of space and privacy. The independent courtyard layout made it both quiet and comfortable. You could enjoy the courtyard view from the bathtub, and after a good soak, curling up on the sofa made the fatigue from the ultra-trail race instantly melt away. The amenities and bedding were all high quality; the towels even had the hotel's exclusive logo, showing thoughtful attention to detail. The bedding was soft and skin-friendly, ensuring an exceptionally peaceful sleep. The hotel service was also very considerate, with shuttle buggies available from the parking lot to the front desk and then to the room. When checking out, the front desk attendant even gave me a chilled NFC juice, adding a refreshing touch to the hot weather! If you're visiting Yanmenguan and looking for a place where you can experience the charm of an ancient pass while enjoying a comfortable vacation, this is absolutely the top choice and highly recommended!

I highly recommend Shanxi Grand Hotel as Taiyuan's state guesthouse, especially the new JinYue building. You get to enjoy the convenient location of Shanxi Grand Hotel while experiencing a smart, modern stay. Before I arrived, I was a bit confused by the room types at Shanxi Grand Hotel, but then I realized that all rooms with 'Guo Feng' in their name are in the new building. I recommend the Guo Feng Deluxe Room – the facilities are new, the space is generous, and the layout is well-designed. The only downside is that there are only four such rooms in the entire hotel, and they all face outwards, so you can't see the hotel's light show from inside. Compared to staying in the main building where the elevator stops on every floor, staying in the new building makes getting up and down very convenient. The night view of Shanxi Grand Hotel is spectacular and a sight to behold in itself. You can go downstairs in the evening and take as many photos as you like; every time you enter or exit, you're treated to dazzling lights. The hotel room includes daily complimentary drinks and fruit, and the shower pressure is excellent, making for a fantastic experience.

Cosy historical building done up very nicely. Room was well renovated, owner super friendly and very accommodating, we asked for more water, toilet paper, different type of breakfast etc all happy to oblige. 10 minutes walk to light show, 10m walk to center of ancient city where most of the historical sites were. 10m walk to outside where the best food is..DO NOT eat inside the old city, food outside much better. Owner also arranged for car to take us to Wang Family compound and Shuanglian temple at much better price than I could find anywhere online. and private transfer to/from train station as well. Very happy I booked to stay at this location. Breakfast was EXCELLENT
