Every time I travel, I agonize over which hotel to choose. I usually check out highly-rated hotels and see what their negative reviews say. For my trip to Zhangye, I also picked from several hotels. My personal experience was fantastic, exceeding my expectations. I didn't encounter any of the issues mentioned in some reviews. The staff were all young, vibrant, and the service was simply impeccable. From pick-up at the station to drop-off at the airport, every detail made me feel incredibly comfortable. The room was also spotlessly clean. The hotel's breakfast was the best I've had on this trip – a wide variety of options and a spacious dining area. For this price, staying at a hotel like this is incredibly good value for money.

The hotel's location is excellent, very close to Ming-Qing Street, Zhenyuan Tower (currently under construction), Mutasi Temple, and Dafo Temple, all within walking distance. The accommodation is great—clean and comfortable. There's also a private parking lot. The service was excellent, and they even provided complimentary breakfast, which I really appreciated! Highly recommended! 👍🏾

The hotel is in a convenient location and is well-furnished and my room was spacious and comfortable. Breakfast is very satisfactory. The front desk staff were helpful and polite; special thanks to Xiao Wang and Xiao Xie who very patiently helped me with my laundry and with getting the bus to Maiji Shan. 😊

For my trip to Dunhuang, I specifically chose the Shazhou Glamping Camp, and the experience truly exceeded my expectations. I have to praise their service – it's incredibly reliable. Before I even arrived, they sent messages proactively reminding me about the desert's day-night temperature differences, suggesting what to wear, and even provided travel tips based on my itinerary. During check-in and luggage transport, they were always ready to lend a hand. Once settled, they were on call for anything I needed. Whether I wanted hot water in the evening, had questions about camp activities, or needed a car at short notice, their response was always super quick. They were diligent and patient in their work, never just going through the motions. The camp environment is exceptional. You step right out into the vast desert, and the stargazing at night is spectacular. The accommodation itself is clean and comfortable. Overall, my stay was incredibly worry-free and relaxing. For anyone visiting Dunhuang and wanting a desert accommodation experience, I genuinely recommend this place; both the service and the environment are top-notch!

The hotel's facilities are comprehensive. The room even has a humidifier, which is great when it's hot outside, making the room feel comfortable and lifting your spirits. Summer usually means lots of mosquitoes, but the room also comes with a mosquito repellent liquid dispenser. Plugging it in by the bedside table at night ensures a peaceful sleep. The air conditioning was already set up by the staff; all you need to do is tell 'Xiao Du' to turn it on. The hygiene is also exceptionally clean and tidy; the moment you open the door, it feels very welcoming. There's an endless array of snacks nearby, and there are even parks and a night market in the vicinity. It's especially lively in the evenings. Getting around is also quite convenient. The parking lot is huge and even has charging stations, which is very handy for self-driving travelers. As soon as I got out of the car, a security guard came over to help with my luggage. Upon entering, the ladies at the front desk greeted me very politely, and check-in was very quick. When I reached the room, the housekeeping staff also greeted me warmly. Very thoughtful. It's definitely worth choosing.

An absolutely wonderful experience! The room was spacious and the bedding was incredibly comfortable. But the view was truly the highlight – a panoramic vista of the Yellow River from every angle. After running a marathon, kicking back on the sofa, enjoying the night view with a cold beer was pure bliss! Plus, with the bedroom facing east, I could literally watch the Yellow River sunrise from bed every morning – what a treat! They even offered late-night snacks, and the breakfast spread was impressive, especially the delicious beef noodles. On top of all that, every staff member, from the front desk to housekeeping, was incredibly helpful and accommodating. A huge thank you to them! If I ever come back to Lanzhou, I'll definitely be staying here again! Five stars!

Fantastic! This is hands down the best hotel we stayed at during our Hexi Corridor trip. The service is five-star. The hotel beautifully blends with Dunhuang's frontier architectural style. Upon check-in, we received complimentary double portions of yogurt, a camel-themed souvenir, breakfast, coffee vouchers, and a free pickup/drop-off service. The breakfast was plentiful and served at the Stargazer Western Restaurant on the 3rd floor. We enjoyed the meal while admiring the Mingsha Mountain view. The spread was extensive, featuring freshly pulled beef noodles, special scallion pancakes, and incredibly delicious apricots, among other things. For dinner, we tried the Fengguo Ancestral Temple Restaurant on the first floor, which offers both stir-fries and hotpot. I personally found the all-you-can-eat hotpot for 68 yuan per person to be incredibly good value. The restaurant is quite spacious and genuinely located within a traditional courtyard. It was truly an immersive and fulfilling stay.

This newly opened version of 3.6 Atour must give full praise, and the experience exceeds that of the same chain hotel. First of all, the overall decoration texture is very high-end and warm, the room is clean and odorless, the sound insulation is very good, and the front desk service is also warm and professional. The public area is very careful, the window gym, self-service laundry room, washing and ironing are all available, the restaurant is spacious and clean, the peak is not crowded, the hotel is three minutes walk to the subway, the overall can be the first choice near the West Station.

Visiting Lanzhou this time, I chose to stay at the Mercure Zhengning Road Hotel, and my overall experience exceeded my expectations – highly recommended! The hotel's location is superb; it's just a few minutes' walk to the Zhengning Road Night Market, and getting to attractions like Zhongshan Bridge and the Provincial Museum is incredibly convenient. The room was clean and tidy, the bedding was comfortable, and the soundproofing was good, ensuring a peaceful night's rest. The smart amenities were also very easy to use. The front desk staff were warm and attentive, even thoughtfully recommending local specialty dishes. The breakfast selection was rich, offering authentic beef noodles and Sanpaochai tea, among other delights. Additionally, facilities like the self-service laundry room and gym were very practical. My entire stay was comfortable and offered excellent value for money. I'll definitely choose to stay here again on my next trip to Lanzhou!

The best aspect of this stay was by far the owner. He was incredibly, incredibly helpful and friendly — from the moment I walked in the door he offered me a cup of tea, then provided tea and bread the next morning for breakfast, offered advice on what to see in the area, arranged a car to take me to Dalzong Lake, and finally even found me a spot on a local minibus going to my next destination. I couldn’t have done half the things I did during my stay in Xiahe without his advice and efforts on my behalf, so that alone made staying here fully worthwhile! It’s worth mentioning that the guesthouse’s architecture is also absolutely beautiful, and everything looks quite new. It’s located down a quiet side alley off of one of the main commercial streets in town, which seems like the ideal placement. On the accommodations: I stayed in one of the two tents erected on the second floor of the guesthouse. This was largely quite a good experience! The bed was very comfortable (with a heated pad), water and towels provided, etc. The tents are not in a closed-off area, but rather on the second floor/balcony area that also is used for sitting, serving tea, etc., so privacy is somewhat limited, but the whole guesthouse is relatively quiet anyway so it doesn’t feel like a public space. My only suggestions for improvement would be related to the bathroom: during my stay, the shared bathroom for the tents was a sort of temporary-style booth installed in the corner of the room with a toilet, sink, and showerhead. The bathroom was very clean and everything inside worked well, but its sliding door separated from the wall enough that there was always a substantial enough space on one side or the other that could be seen through (the door also didn’t lock and slid back and forth easily). The booth was also small enough that, realistically, I think it would be a bit of a challenge to actually use it to shower. If possible it might be worth looking into some simple fixes to improve these situations, but otherwise I have no complaints!

VValarie474A Princess Treatment Stay in Zhangye From the moment the hotel staff picked me up at the train station, I have received nothing but princess treatment. Whether this is standard or something special because I'm a solo female traveler in an area that doesn't see many foreigners outside of tour groups, I genuinely don't know. What I do know is that I felt looked after from start to finish. The arrival set the tone. A friendly staff member was waiting right at the train station exit, and the ride to the hotel was barely five minutes. I ended up on the top floor with a mostly unobstructed mountain view, and on a clear day you can apparently catch sunrise and sunset from up there. My room is enormous for one person. Two full bathrooms, a separate living room, separate bedroom with an additional couch. The little touches genuinely surprised me: a real sewing kit (not the sad three-thread version), a loofah, nice lotion, a plastic liner for the tub, cute slippers I may have to ”accidentally” pack, shower shoes, multiple teas, and a pod coffee maker. Speaking of the tub liner, it came paired with a sachet of ”red wine bath liquid” in this blood-red color, and combined with the plastic sheeting the whole setup gave me serious Dexter vibes. IYKYK. Slightly disturbing, completely awesome. Free laundry down the hall on my floor with washers, dryers, and soap provided. The breakfast spread is plentiful and genuinely good, tons of dishes, real variety. The one issue during my stay was the climate control. My room hit 28°C and I called down for help. They sent an army of staff. When they realized moving me wouldn't solve anything because the issue affected another room too, they rebooted the system instead of just shuffling me around. By the time I finished dinner and used my included dining credit, my room was cool and comfortable. That's not just good service, that's good problem-solving. They adapted, communicated, and fixed it properly. The staff deserves their own paragraph. Reception and the kitchen team were complete standouts. Everyone was gracious and warm, and the ones who spoke English did so beautifully even though they kept apologizing for it (they really shouldn't have, they were great). There was a moment at check-in when two excited staff members brought me up to my room and we all forgot the room key in the lobby. One of them ran back down to get it while we laughed about it together. That kind of warmth you can't fake. And it isn't just the front of house, there doesn't seem to be a moment when somebody isn't cleaning something, whether it's the windows, the chairs in the outdoor seating area, the bikes available for guests, or the koi pond. This hotel is genuinely well taken care of by its staff and ownership, and it shows. I didn't get to do everything I wanted to in Zhangye, which means I'll be back. And when I do come back, I'll be staying right here. I honestly can't say enough good things about this place.

AAnonymous UserThis hotel is quite pricey for Lanzhou, but it's definitely worth the money. The location is top-notch, right by the Yellow River, and very close to Zhongshan Bridge, Waterwheel Garden, and the Du Zhe Museum, making transportation very convenient. The hygiene is excellent; everything is clean and tidy. The staff also asked every day if I needed housekeeping, which was a nice touch. The service is also top-tier. When I arrived by taxi, a staff member immediately helped with my luggage, and a robot even delivered my takeout orders directly to my room. The only thing that could be improved is the interior design. For example, the bathroom doesn't have a small sink, and the air conditioning is central, so it can't be adjusted independently in the room. For someone like me who gets hot easily, it wasn't cool enough.

The front desk service was warm and professional, and check-in was efficient and quick. The staff were gentle and polite, showing thoughtfulness in every detail. The hygiene, facilities, and service were all top-notch, offering great value for money. It's an excellent choice for any trip, and I'll prioritize staying here again next time. Highly recommended!

GGuest UserThe boss was very enthusiastic. I contacted him one day in advance and waited for us at the station early the next morning. The accommodation was close to the East Gate. We said we were going to Crescent Lake and Mingsha Mountain. The boss took the initiative to drive us to the Middle Gate, saying that we could save 20 yuan on the shuttle bus fare. The next day, we signed up for a tour group to go out and play. The boss also sent us to the boarding point early in the morning. The boss was afraid that it would be inconvenient to go back after the Crescent Lake Music Festival, so he also came to pick us up, making our travel very convenient. The accommodation environment is also very good, and the steamed bun for breakfast is particularly large.

SShuijierdongThis guesthouse is run by a really nice couple. When we arrived at the scenic area entrance, the owner's wife drove out to guide us in. The guesthouse is about a kilometer from the Maijishan Grottoes entrance, and from there you have to walk. We originally booked a family room on the second floor, but after hearing us mention that my dad wasn't going to the grottoes because of his bad leg, and that we had our dog with us, the owner's wife gave us a private room on the first floor. It was very spacious. The whole family is so nice! We ordered dinner and they told us to go back to our room to rest, then called us when it was ready and brought it to the dining area. I genuinely recommend staying here if you're visiting Maijishan. We went in the morning when it wasn't crowded, and by the time we came out, it was barely 10 AM and they were already starting to control the flow of people at the ticket gate. The grotto steps are high and narrow, so you can only go one by one. Those who go in later will probably have a very long wait.

XXiaoQbumojiOverall, I'm satisfied. The price isn't expensive, so it offers decent value for money. Facilities: The room itself is quite good, on par with your typical Mercure or Ji Hotel in a city. However, there's a disconnect with the public facilities like the laundry room, elevators, and restaurant, which are a bit subpar, more like a guesthouse. Environment: It's right next to the night market, so the location is excellent. There's also a shuttle bus across the street that goes to the Mogao Grottoes. Hygiene: There were some blind spots for cleanliness. On the day I checked in, there was still a positioning sticker from the previous guest's bathtub liner stuck to the tub. It's not a major issue, but it does show the level of hygiene. For around 200 yuan, it's a very good price. If it were peak season, they'd need to improve a bit more. I regret not taking photos of the interior, but the hotel's pictures are accurate and trustworthy; the actual room is exactly as shown.

MmixiyaVery good homestay, although in the village, but the design aesthetic is online, very film, butler and service staff are attentive and warm, there is a nutritious breakfast during the day, and the children are given open-air movies at night. Every day of the stay is very comfortable, which adds a lot to our whole journey. 15 minutes walk to Mingsha Mountain, taxi is also very convenient, the hotel can also pick up and drop off the plane and Mingsha Mountain. The owner of the homestay recommended Master Liu, who chartered the East-West Line for us. Master Liu’s family and the homestay are neighbors. Please go to the garden to pick Li Guangxing, eat ice watermelon under the tree, and chat in the world. It is also very pleasant.

GGuest UserOverall, I'm giving this hotel five stars, but it's not for everyone. This place is for people seeking a slice of life...It promotes a slow pace and to really understand the hotels value you need to actually spend time there. Also looks really ideal of families - lots of area for kids to roam without getting into trouble. If you just want a bed to crash in while spending most of your time outside, don't stay here. Also if you want the most Instagrammable hotel around? Yes, book it. Pros: Amazing view, super peaceful. The layout feels like a camp you walk out and you're right in the common area, easy to relax. I came back late one night and heard absolutely nothing for a long time. Service is genuinely 5-star; they really care about your experience. Some previous reviews mentioned they staff attitude is bad - I confirm this is either fixed or incorrect. Maybe I don't expect people to pamper me 24/7. There are plenty of staff and if you chat to them or make a request they will 100% help. Rooms are cleaned well. Some previous reviews said the aircon was bad, but mine worked great, and hot water never ran out, temperature is easy to control. Also, people said no food delivery - wrong. I got delivery even during a sandstorm, no issues. Taxis and Didi come to the hotel fine, about 12 kuai from the center. Cons: The bathroom is extremely small. If you're over 177cm / 73kg or have a broad build, I can't recommend you stay here. I kept bumping into walls, and the shower curtain stuck to my skin mid-shower – my biggest letdown. The room gets hot, stuffy, and smelly if you turn the aircon off during summer days. I made that mistake once. I'd suggest the hotel install sensors to manage temperature or air out rooms when guests are out. Breakfast is simple – looks and tastes fine, but gets repetitive and you can't choose from a menu.

AAnonymous UserIf life is a never-ending journey, then the camping trip at the Desert Star Hotel is undoubtedly a highlight of my journey. When I arrived at the campsite, the first thing that attracted me was the unique tent house. Unlike regular tents, the top of the tent is made of special transparent materials, like a huge viewing platform, which builds a bridge of communication between me and the vast galaxy. As night fell, I couldn't wait to lie on the soft bed, and when I looked up, the bright starry sky was presented to me without reservation. The stars twinkled, like gems inlaid on the black sky, beautiful as a dream. At that moment, the world seemed to press the mute button, and the impetuousness and noise in my heart were instantly soothed. The unique beauty of this quietness made me intoxicated. It is worth mentioning that the hotel staff is very considerate. After placing the order, the customer service guy at the front desk added our contact information and gave us some local travel tips, which saved us a lot of time. From the warm reception at check-in, to the careful guidance during the activities, to the warm greetings at night, every detail made people feel cared for. They not only provided me with thoughtful service, but also made me feel the simplicity and enthusiasm of the desert people. This desert camping trip not only allowed me to appreciate the magnificent scenery of the desert, but also experienced exciting and interesting activities, which became an eternal and beautiful memory in my heart.
