It's all pretty clean, and the pool is clean too… I'd read some bad reviews before, but it’s actually really decent… The room didn't have any musty or damp smells either, plus the lobby opens right out to the beach… If you're booking, I'd suggest getting a sea-view room because the basic rooms by the road are very noisy (motorbikes, Muslim chanting). There's a good variety for breakfast… mainly Western. I recommend going before 8:45 AM to avoid the queue; after 9 AM, you'll have to wait 10-15 minutes. There's also Chinese-speaking staff… Oh, and the sea-view room balcony doesn't have a drying rack, so I'd recommend bringing your own.

Stayed here for four out of five days in Penang. Finally got a twin room with a beautiful city view – excellent value for money! The sink is quite deep, which was handy for a quick wash of intimates. There's a 7-Eleven about 500m across the street, and a small convenience store right opposite, making it super easy to grab water and other essentials.

It was quite clean, and cleanliness is always my top priority when staying at a hotel. The decor is a bit older, but the location is excellent, right next to the night market with tons of delicious food downstairs. The only thing that needs improvement is that on the morning of check-out, at 9 AM, a staff member knocked on my door to ask if I was checking out. I was still asleep at the time, and I think that's far too early. I'd suggest they stop this practice as it disturbs guests' rest.

Fantastic experience! I hesitated a lot before booking, but I'm so glad I made the right choice. It's an established five-star hotel with excellent service and a rich variety of breakfast options. The best part is the swimming pool – storage, showers, bath, and sauna are all available, and the pool water is very clean. Our room had no strange smells, though we didn't spend much time there apart from sleeping. All the great food spots are within walking distance, and taxis can easily find the location. The front desk staff can communicate perfectly in Mandarin. Highly recommended!

Wonderful stay overall. The bell staff service was exceptionally efficient, and the staff were consistently friendly, warm, and reliable throughout our visit. The facilities are well maintained and enjoyable. However, the beach access area could be improved, especially by adding more seating spaces for elderly guests to relax comfortably. The swimming pool would also benefit from being more spacious or having additional relaxing chairs around the poolside for guests to unwind. The hotel room was comfortable, but it would be even better if guests were provided with pillow options — for example, one higher pillow and one lower pillow — to suit different sleeping preferences. Food quality was good, though the ayam masak merah was slightly on the salty side. During peak seasons, it may help to have more kitchen staff to ensure smoother service. Will visit again soon.  That said, the team’s kindness and hospitality truly stood out and made the experience very pleasant.

My bedroom wad super noisy, next to a road, I could hear the trafic all day long. It was better during the night. The management gave me a quiet bedroom me for my second night as it was full for the first night. The court was dirty but they sent someone to clean it, change the bedsheet with stains and repair the broken tap. The bottles of shower soap are tricky as the straw is too short. The bathroom can be locked from outside as you can see on pictures. There are 2 marts next door, thai food and rôti stall. The bedroom doesn't look like the pictures I saw on the page.

The front desk was alright; they gave me the highest floor when I asked for a quiet room. But the room itself felt really damp! Luckily, it was sunny the next day, so I took the duvet outside to air it out. The hallways in the hotel also had a damp, musty smell. The cleaning service on the second day of my stay was unbelievably bad – they missed so many spots, it's hard to even describe! The view outside the hotel was nice, but the hotel itself is in a remote location. A taxi to the city costs 60-80 yuan, and even to the beach, which is only 2-3 kilometers away, it's 40 yuan for a taxi – ridiculous! Once we got familiar with the area, we just used public transport.

RRayTFirst of all the hotel rented out the rooms for individual operator. So there will be different check in counter. Upon check in, been told that the room card not functioning as they are doing upgrading, so every time u come back will need to call the house keeping to unlock the door. Most importantly they charge RM 17 per night for car parking. So a lot of car parking outside which make the entrance a bit difficult

TTini88We were a bit nervous after reading the reviews online but we had a really excellent stay. The rooms were super clean and modern with a beautiful sea view and the bed was really comfortable. The rooms had a kettle with teas, a hairdryer and iron and the shower was lovely and hot. Great AC too. The pool was lovely with a beautiful view of the sea and very nice and peaceful. The location was also great with a huge food market right opposite. Overall a really lovely stay

GGuest UserYou absolutely *must* book a sea-view room! Sea-view! Sea-view! The hotel is right on the beach with expansive views, and it's about a ten-minute walk to the fireworks show and the iron flower performance. It's livelier than the quieter resorts nearby, but in a fun way, and the kids absolutely loved playing in the various pools. If you don't have kids, you might find it a bit noisy and not appreciate the lively atmosphere. Seriously, do NOT book a non-sea-view room, as they face the mosque's loudspeakers. The morning calls to prayer start early, and just walking by, you feel for the guests staying there. Our sea-view twin room was upgraded to a suite by the front desk, which came with its own play facilities, including bunk beds for kids – a truly memorable experience. Although the hotel has been open for a while, the facilities are still well-maintained. While the front desk staff don't speak Chinese, there's usually an assistant in the lobby who can help with Chinese communication, so it's not a big issue. Breakfast was decent, nothing spectacular.

GGuest UserThe room was spacious and clean. The staff were attentive and prompt in attending to our needs. They served us more bottles of water in our room on request. We had a pleasant welcome with a drink and ice cream. The hotel is just beside the Gurney Plaza, which makes it convenient for shopping and dining. Highly recommended.

KkorionThis was my favorite hotel during my trip to Malaysia, and where I slept the best. The hotel is probably about 6 kilometers from the Penang city center, a 20+ minute drive one way, so the location is a bit out of the way. However, it's very quiet and has a private beach, a pool, and a gym. The bed was also super comfortable. The only downside is that there aren't many dining options nearby, so you'll definitely need to take a taxi or drive out to eat.

GGuest UserStayed at Lone Pine Hotel and had a very pleasant experience. The location is excellent, right by the beach and close to Batu Ferringhi attractions, yet still peaceful and relaxing. The room was clean, spacious, and comfortable, with a nice balcony view. Staff were friendly, attentive, and helpful throughout the stay. The pool area was well maintained and not overcrowded. Overall, a great place for a quiet beach getaway. Would definitely consider staying again.

Mmoni111This hotel is a bit out of the way; it felt like a long drive from George Town. However, it's quite unique, with photos and statues of many rock bands from the last century throughout the hotel. The hotel itself is a bit old, but the rooms are clean, and the front desk staff are friendly and kind. The sea view rooms have a balcony, which is lovely for sitting, watching the sea, and scrolling through short videos. That said, the beach wasn't as good as I expected. If you're looking for a really nice beach with fine sand, Sanya in China is better. Oh, and if you turn left out of the hotel's main entrance and walk for about 5 minutes, there's a Lebanese restaurant with great food and a nice atmosphere – definitely worth a visit!
