1. **Prime Location:** Situated right on the Cairns Esplanade, it's a mere 2-minute walk to the Reef Fleet Terminal (the departure point for Great Barrier Reef tours) and 3 minutes to the Esplanade Lagoon. Restaurants and night markets are plentiful nearby, and a taxi ride to the airport takes about 13 minutes. 2. **Amenities & Experience:** Most modern rooms feature private balconies with city or harbor views. The free Wi-Fi is stable, and the outdoor pool is comfortable. The Bushfire Flame Grill Brazilian BBQ has a great reputation (breakfast/dinner are extra). Paid parking is limited, and street-facing rooms occasionally experience noise. 3. **Service:** There's a 24-hour front desk with multi-lingual staff who can assist with booking Great Barrier Reef/rainforest excursions. Luggage storage is seamless. 4. **Drawbacks:** Parking can be tight during peak season, some bathrooms are a bit dated, and breakfast isn't particularly cheap.

The hotel room was clean, spacious, and clearly recently renovated. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We were able to store our luggage safely in a locked baggage room. The hotel grounds are beautiful, with clean and very attractive pool areas surrounded by lush plants. In the early evening, you can even see fruit bats flying over the property, which adds a special touch to the atmosphere. The hotel is a bit further away from the city centre, but only 15min from the airport.

Very nice room with good layout and spacious enough. Near pool and restaurant, I'm glad it was a quiet Monday night and not a weekend otherwise noise could have been an issue. Good service and tasty food. The place had a nice atmosphere, great to meet friends or family and enjoy the ambience.

I want to give a special shout-out to the front desk staff, who were incredibly patient. My English isn't great, but they were so helpful in resolving my issues! Especially a guy from Hong Kong who even helped me translate the restaurant menu! Also, the restaurant's head chef, KK, is Chinese, and he specially prepared a pizza and fruit yogurt salad that suited our palate – generous portions and very fresh fruit! Super nice! The only downside is that the airport shuttle bus costs $8 per person and takes about 30 minutes, which isn't ideal. A taxi is also quite expensive at $20.

View from the room looks really good. It is 1km walking distance to everything including bars restaurants ferry supermarket and public swimming pools. 1 dollar day pass bus is available and there is a stop behind the hotel. But if you do not want to walk for hundreds meters or 1km, the location is not good for you.

The location is excellent, right downstairs from the night market. The port and city center are both conveniently located. The harbor view was decent, though from Building A, it was slightly obstructed by another building. From the 7th floor, the public pool obscured much of the view. Reviews suggest higher floors offer much better scenery. The city-facing view wasn't anything special. The room was very new but had a distinct smell. I'd recommend opening the window to air it out overnight. The front desk staff, especially one young man, was very enthusiastic and helpful. The room fan can be set to 'low' for less noise.

GGuest UserFirstly, the room was excellent, ultra clean with bath and shower. The sheets were exemplary, bed very comfortable as were the pillows. Bar fridge and microwave, toiletries in the bathroom. Towels excellent. Airconditioning excellent. I was excited to see a very large, modern wide screen TV with onboard Android system. Disappointed that no internet connection (so I could have used my own passwords for my streaming services. Even more disappointed that there was no aerial connected, but I had brought my own tech and internet. I just switched off the TV. Imagine my extreme displeasure to board the 3rd floor lift at 05:00 to have the doors closed - but no button worked! I WAS TRAPPED IN THE LIFT!!! I pressed the yellow emergency button for 5 seconds - no answer - pressed multiple times. I phoned the hotel main number, so they could press the lift call button - no answer. I phoned the 24/7 emergency 1300 number. The operator said she would send someone out - who would phone me with an ETA. Getting anxious, being 60 years old with a heart condition, I dialled 000 to call the POLICE! The dispatcher commended me on remaining so calm. I assured her, being very hot in cramped spaces with very little air was definitely not conducive to my remaining calm. They said to call 000 back if I got out before the fire brigade arrived. Five minutes later I heard voices outside. Someone heard my banging on the lift doors and cries for help. I GOT OUT That night the guy on reception said sorry. I explained that, although the room was marvelous - and that I did eventually get out, a man of my age and I'll health could have died - why wasn't anyone on duty to answer the damn lift emergency phone? He said he was sorry.

GGuest UserExceptional Luxury with Thoughtful Tech and Standout Service I recently stayed at the Dorsett Gold Coast, and it was an outstanding experience. The level of detail across the property is highly visible, making for a stay that feels both premium and personalized. A Seamless Arrival The check-in experience set a fantastic tone. We were warmly greeted and offered welcome drinks at the Jin Café & Bar, which was a lovely touch. While we navigated the parking, the porter took our luggage directly to our room, allowing us to settle in stress-free. Speaking of parking, while it is $20 per night, it is worth every cent for the convenience. The ”in and out” process is incredibly seamless because the staff enters your registration number into the system, so you never have to worry about tickets or delays. Standout Service: Special Thanks to Sona The service here is truly top-tier. I want to give a huge mention to Sona at reception, who was incredibly helpful throughout our entire stay. Her professionalism and warmth were much appreciated. Furthermore, the speed of the reception service for any phone requests was impressive—they are lightning-fast. The ”Smart” Room Details The room design features some ”genius” touches that I haven't seen elsewhere: * The Smart Mirror: The bathroom mirror has a specialized coating so that even after a steaming hot shower, a specific section remains perfectly clear. * Auto Night Light: The bathroom has an automatic night light that activates on its own—perfect for navigating at night without fumbling for switches. * The in room switches was also very thoughtful and unique, for the first time experienced such. * The Chromecast casting tech was great as you can stream what you like. Dining & Relaxation The pool area is absolutely fancy and stunning—a perfect spot to lounge. We also enjoyed the hearty buffet breakfast at the Star Grand; it’s a great spread, though I’d love to see a few more vegetarian varieties added to the hot selection. Constructive Feedback To make the experience truly 5-star across the board, there are two areas for improvement: * In-Room Appliances: The hairdryer and iron felt quite basic and didn't really match the premium, high-tech vibe of the hotel. * Poolside Dining: While the pool itself is beautiful, the restaurant menu there is very limited and almost negligible. More food variety by the water would be a big plus. Overall, a fantastic stay. Between the tech, the parking ease, and the wonderful service from Sona, I would definitely recommend the Dorsett!

TTaishanshendiaoxialvHotel location: Super convenient, right outside is George Square and Queen Street. You can even see the clock tower of the square from your room. Truly irreplaceable. Hardware facilities: The space isn't huge, but the facilities are quite complete. Although it's an old hotel, the cleanliness is still good. Service: We stayed for 2 nights and noticed there was only one bottle of milk. We told the staff, and they immediately brought a whole pack, which was great. However, the bathroom fan was broken. We called maintenance, and they came to look at it but couldn't fix it on the spot, saying they'd come back the next afternoon. But when we returned to our room late the next evening, it still wasn't fixed, and we weren't informed why. This needs improvement.

AAnonymous UserFirst and foremost, the hotel's location is absolutely fantastic. It's incredibly convenient for transportation and very close to the city center and major attractions, making getting around a breeze. Whether you're traveling for business or leisure, this hotel is an excellent choice. The hotel's overall environment is clean and tidy, and the lobby is spacious and bright. The front desk staff are warm, professional, and courteous; they proactively greet guests every time, making you feel right at home. Check-in and check-out were also incredibly efficient, with virtually no waiting time, making the entire process very smooth. The room layout is well-designed, offering ample space and excellent natural light. The bedding was soft and comfortable, ensuring a good night's sleep. The bathroom was clean and well-maintained, fully equipped, and the toiletries were of good quality. What pleasantly surprised me most was the excellent soundproofing in the room – I couldn't hear any noise from the hallway or neighboring rooms, allowing for a truly peaceful rest. The hotel breakfast offered a rich variety of options, including both Chinese and Western dishes. The ingredients were fresh and delicious, catering to all tastes. The servers were also very attentive, proactively asking if guests needed assistance, which left a very positive impression. I also had the chance to experience the hotel's gym and swimming pool this time. Both were well-equipped and well-maintained, with a very clean and relaxing environment. The overall atmosphere of the hotel is comfortable and quiet, perfect for unwinding and rejuvenating. In summary, this is a high-quality hotel with excellent service, complete facilities, and a beautiful environment. I highly recommend it for both business trips and family vacations. Next time I visit this city, I will definitely choose to stay here again!

AAnonymous UserI was mostly happy with the resort. There were some things missing like more food options (only two restaurants) and small luxuries like a sauna for example. It’s also hard to rate the staff as you had some incredibly helpful staff and then some real depressing ones that were just rude. The only other thing that was a bit of a shock was that the beaches were just full of dead coral and no sand. I hadn’t been to one of the islands in the Whitsundays so I was surprised to see that. The photos of the resort did not show this so it would have been nice to know so it didn’t lead to disappointment. Some positives though is that the resort was beautifully designed and they offered a lot of free water activities like kayaking for example. The buffet breakfast was also really nice.

AAriane AndersonLoved the lobby and had breakfast that was nice. Unfortunately in Surfers Paradise we thought that the hotel had a pool. Having children and my poor research they were disappointed to have no pool as I thought I had booked a different hotel. After the lovely staff checked us in and we arrived to our rooms. They were very motel like. Just not what we expected. Again my rushed booking

GGuest UserFrom the moment I arrived they tried to accommodate me as I was early. I was given a refreshing drink and my luggage was stored while my room was being readied. I had some food and drinks at the bar. The staff were lovely and remembered me the next day! I was given keys to the outdoor facilities so was able to use the pool and spa if I wanted. They txt when the room was ready. It was an end room which overlooked the water and ocean. It was beautifully presented and the toiletries were a good size and smelt lovely. I loved the upgrades they had done to the hotel as I have stayed there previously. I ordered dinner from the in room dining, but the internet service was very slow so I had to go to reception to order. The servings were great and the food was delicious. My reservation included breakfast which was plentiful and fresh. I really enjoyed my stay, which was over too quickly!

GGuest UserThe hotel's location is absolutely fantastic. If you're visiting the Gold Coast, you simply have to stay close to the beach. You can pop in and out of the ocean multiple times a day, just throwing on a towel. When it's too sunny and hot midday, you can relax on the balcony, enjoying the ocean view and the sea breeze – it's incredibly pleasant. The light rail is also just a few steps away, which is super convenient. Downstairs, there's a huge variety of restaurants, including Chinese, Indian, Thai, Japanese, and more, catering to all tastes and budgets. The hotel's buffet breakfast is quite impressive; the food is fresh, plentiful, and delicious. Even the kids were very happy with it. The pool, sauna, and gym facilities are all very well-equipped.
