Amazing decision to go to Yinchuan for Dragon Boat Festival since it has the best weather and the cleanest city in China. Kempinski in this city is one of the best. The hotel is in the middle of the city, so there are multiple destinations to tour. For my trip, I did not go to the sand dune area. I focused on the ride share to the touristy movie film park snd neighboring theme town. The hotel is also near the growing 801 Creative Park, Night Market, and just a walk from the Ningxia Museum. So many more local and traditional spots. Bring an extra shopping bag. The hotel has a great view of their master plan development, delicious food options from the cafe to the German restaurant, and coffee/tea lobby lounge. The staff is bilingual and the grounds are immaculately clean. Sleeping and facilities really comfortable. Nicest locals all around. Thank you for a great stay.

The hotel is close to the highway exit and surrounded by a large square. The rooms are clean and sanitary, and they are equipped with disposable toilet seats, which is very considerate. Opposite the hotel is a Mayuchuan Airport Lamb Restaurant, which is very unique. But it is still very close to the Western Xia Imperial Mausoleum, so it is recommended to check in there. Then after checking in to the new hotel, it is still recommended to open the window for ventilation.

I think that the facilities in the hotel opened in Dawukou are the best, but these few stays are very unpleasant. The off-season hotel provided a VIP experience. That evening, the head chef kindly drove us back to the hotel, stopping under the dazzling starry sky to teach us how to take time-lapse photos of the starry night with our phones. At that moment, the entire hotel team seemed incredibly skilled, yet also incredibly warm and welcoming. And this trip also gave us a ”first” experience in the entire universe. It was my first time specifically transferring flights for a sea of ​​sand, my first time seeing camels with frosted eyelashes, and my first time standing in a real desert, speechless with awe at the magic of nature. Even more amazing was how the desert revealed its full spectrum of appearances over three days: the first day, a light snowfall blanketed the dunes like sprinkled sugar; the second day, the sun shone brightly, turning the world into a golden expanse; the third day, a strong wind arose, and a vast curtain of sand stretched across the sky—it felt like opening a completely new natural blind box each day. As southerners, we hastily created a ”Desert Winter Clothing Guide.” Our principle was: layering, with flexible disassembly (gear that could be worn again at home). Our practical setup was as follows: Inner layer: Close-fitting thermal underwear to keep dry. Middle layer: Lightweight cotton or fleece clothing to lock in warmth.
