Desert Star Hotel

✨ The Star Hotel is truly an oasis in the desert, a must-choose for families with children! 👍 My kids had a fantastic time here! 🥳 **Facilities:** This time, I chose a sand-view room, which had a great view and was quite spacious. It even had an open-air bathtub for a relaxing soak 🛁. The cabin rooms are a bit smaller, but you can step right out to play in the sand. There are also stargazing activities at night that kids can join – the sky full of stars is truly beautiful. The hotel also organized a desert hike for children during the day, where they experienced their first-ever desert trek 🚶. **Environment:** The hotel provides complimentary drinks and snacks daily 🆓, and the animal-shaped cookies were a hit with the kids. The restaurant on the hotel's second floor offers 360-degree views, so you can enjoy the desert landscape while dining. The food was also quite good. If you're heading to Yinchuan-Zhongwei with kids, you should definitely book the Star Hotel!.

Pros: 1. The cabin allows direct access to sandboarding and playing in the sand right outside the door. Sand sleds and digging tools are provided. 2. The surrounding sand is fine, and the slope is sufficient for kids to have a blast. Cons: 1. The cabin is small; if you have a lot of luggage, there might not be much space to move around. The cleanliness is also quite average. 2. Perhaps due to the May Day holiday, the shuttle bus wait times were long. It took half an hour to get back to the cabin from the main building after dinner. 3. The food in the main building was slightly better than the cabin's, but personally, I found both to be quite unappetizing. Summary: If I visit Zhongwei again, I would still choose a cabin at the Starry Hotel. After all, the direct access to sandboarding right outside the door is a huge draw for kids. Adults can tolerate it for a day; seeing the children have so much fun makes it all worthwhile.

This hotel is a bit overpriced. My daughter woke up early and wasn't hungry for breakfast, so I told her to ask a staff member for a bag to take a piece of bread with her. She came back empty-handed, saying they don't allow food to be taken out. That's so inflexible! Some guests have their family members bring food back to their rooms, but my child couldn't even take a piece of bread she didn't eat. The shuttle service was also very slow. On our last day, I had timed our departure perfectly to catch our high-speed train, but the shuttle took almost 20 minutes to arrive. We almost missed our train, thankfully the taxi driver was efficient. The wooden cabins were incredibly noisy; people were chattering outside past 11:30 PM, and my whole family couldn't get any sleep. I usually give hotels a 5-star rating, but this one is really hard to rate...

The room was very clean, and the mini-bar was restocked daily with drinks and snacks. The hotel service was incredibly thoughtful; we were informed of the daily hotel activities upon check-in, and WeChat reminders were sent every day for meal and stargazing times. We tried both the hot pot and the buffet, and the kids absolutely loved them – everything was delicious and plentiful. A special thanks to the hotel staff, especially Safety Manager Sister Ma. When my child fell ill, Sister Ma accompanied us to the hospital and helped with everything, making us feel incredibly secure and touched, even though we were far from home.

An absolutely amazing experience! Since it was off-season, there weren't many people. Our room had a direct view of the desert from the window, and there were so many family-friendly activities. It was both stunning and a little romantic. If I were to visit again, I would definitely choose this hotel. It's truly excellent. The only minor drawback was that the bar on the third floor was closed, so no drinks were available.

This family trip was fantastic! My child dug in the sand from morning till night. The hotel's breakfast offered beautiful sunrise views, and dinner was great with sunset views too. They even have free late-night snacks, though we didn't get to try them. Getting to the Shapotou scenic area was super convenient with their dedicated shuttle service. The hotel's butler service was excellent – I messaged at 11:40 asking for an extra blanket, and it was delivered very quickly. The butler also sent timely reminders for various things. We didn't have time to participate in the hotel's family activities, but we'll definitely be back with the kids!

This time, I booked a cabin in Zone B, and my child could dig in the sand right outside the door and freely slide down the dunes – it couldn't have been more convenient! The hotel's activity schedule is also very rich. I participated in a hike, specimen making, stargazing at the Stargazing Valley, and also experienced sand therapy and the 'Little Astronaut' program. The itinerary was vibrant and diverse, and I've already highly recommended it to my friends. Plus, breakfast and dinner are included, so you don't have to worry about what to eat, hehe. There's also a shuttle service to and from the Shapotou Scenic Area, which is super convenient. Star Hotel is really great, I'll definitely come again next time!

Overall, it was a good stay, especially considering it's located within a desert scenic area. The bellhop who helped with our luggage was excellent. However, what I couldn't understand was the lack of a shuttle service; they said it was under maintenance. Walking from District Q to the main building took 15 minutes, which was very tiring. The paid stargazing activity was fantastic, and the guide was incredibly patient, but the equipment... the stars still looked like tiny dots, just slightly larger than with the naked eye. Breakfast and dinner were decent. What was particularly commendable was the complimentary room upgrade and the travel photoshoot they offered.
