Shangri-La Hotel Hohhot | A Fantastic Stay for Families during May Day Holiday
This was my first time staying at a Shangri-La, and compared to my previous experience at Hyatt Regency Jinan, the Shangri-La Hohhot really surprised me in a good way.
**Location & Surroundings**
The hotel is conveniently located between two subway stations, Daxue Xilu and Zhongshan Lu, making getting around super easy. Zhongshan Lu station exits directly into the Mo'er Underground Shopping Street, and there's a delicious bakery right outside the exit. Daxue Xilu is next to Wuxiang City. Across from the hotel, there are two local eateries, 'Chuanshuo Bingzhu Yang' (Legendary Ice-Boiled Lamb) and 'Tiemao Kaorou' (Iron Hat BBQ), which feel authentic and not overly commercialized. Besides a roughly 40-yuan taxi ride to Chilechuan, most other attractions were only about ten yuan away.
**Room**
The room wasn't huge, but it was very well-designed. The space between the bed and the TV was wide enough, so no tripping hazards. The 1.98m king-size bed was incredibly comfortable. The air conditioning was the best part – much better than the Hyatt's, with fresh, circulating air that wasn't stuffy. The floor-to-ceiling window offered an amazing view. From the 16th floor, I could see the stadium, and Hohhot people are clearly very active – there were people running and playing football morning and evening. Further ahead was a park with people boating and even a Ferris wheel that lit up at night. In the distance, we could also see the illuminated Bao'erhan Pagoda. The windowsill was wide enough to sit on, and there were two additional sofas, making it a perfect spot for having tea, dining, and enjoying the scenery.
**Pool & Gym**
I really liked that the changing rooms had a dry sauna. There was also a hot tub with water hot enough. The pool was divided into a kids' pool and an adult pool, both quite spacious. My husband said the gym was also good – not too crowded and peaceful. My daughter, who usually prefers to play on her phone in the room, actually joined me for sauna, hot tub, and swimming this time. She even wrote 'Very good hotel' with a smiley face on a comment card, showing she genuinely enjoyed it.
**Service**
From the moment we got out of the taxi and staff helped with our luggage to checking in at the front desk, everyone was incredibly proactive and enthusiastic. The lobby had a subtle, pleasant soap scent. The hotel also featured two decorative yurt-like setups, which were fun for photos.
**Robot Food Delivery**
This deserves special praise. We order takeout frequently, and the robot could deliver from both its upper and lower compartments. It would call our room when it arrived, and we just had to open the door to pick up our food. Only once was the robot too busy, and the concierge delivered directly to our room. We never experienced takeout being carelessly left in the lobby, unlike at the Beijing Noulan Hotel where we stayed before. The streamlined service at a big hotel like this really gives you peace of mind.
**Minor Regret**
The only downside was that when I wanted to take a bath around 10 PM, the hot water wasn't very hot, even at its maximum. It seems like the central water supply might get overloaded during peak usage hours.
**Value for Money**
We booked this during the May Day holiday for less than 500 yuan a night, a price you couldn't even dream of in Beijing. On our last day, we stayed in the pool until 2 PM before reluctantly checking out.
**Overall:** Great views, excellent service, reliable robot food delivery, and the kids loved it. I would definitely recommend it to friends.

The location is very good, on Zhongsujin Street. Going out is a bustling and prosperous street, and the night view at night is also very good. Needless to say, the food is Chinese, Mongolian, Russian and Western. You can eat whatever you want. 😂
The room is very large, the lighting is very good, and it is very clean.

Traveling to Inner Mongolia for the May Day holiday, I stayed in Hohhot for the first two nights. The hotel staff were very friendly, and the room was quiet and clean. Since I rented a car, I could park it in the multi-story parking lot right outside the entrance. I chose a lake view room, and the scenery outside the window was quite nice. I especially loved the fragrance in the hotel lobby. The only downside was that there were too few laundry rooms; I had to queue all evening just to wash one item, ugh.

I never expected to find a family room in Hailar that was better than any family-friendly hotel in East China. It wasn't some flimsy tent bunk beds, but rather a whole room custom-made with super heavy timber, and there were even Mongolian-themed picture books. It was full of surprises! The entire hotel was excellent. In the evening, I met up with a friend for a drink at the rooftop bar and even saw the sunset over the Yimin River. Although I didn't get to see the green grasslands, this hotel is definitely the top spot in Hailar, and the location is superb. For breakfast, the Buryat dumplings were handmade by an auntie, and there was also lamb leg – absolutely delicious. Breakfast alone could easily pass for lunch. I will definitely come back in the summer!

My stay at Shangri-La Baotou far exceeded my expectations! Even before checking in, I received a call from the hotel arranging the room according to my preferences. Upon arrival, the concierge proactively helped with luggage, and the front desk staff were warm and meticulous, introducing the hotel's restaurants and fitness center. The room was clean and hygienic! I've had their shaomai before and it was good, but this time I was particularly impressed by the new mutton buns at breakfast – absolutely amazing! My family really enjoyed the freshly fried dough sticks. Overall, the entire check-in process was excellent, and the hotel's location is superb! It's only about a 15-minute drive from the highway exit! Finally, a special shout-out to Avila Wang.

The location of the apartment is particularly good, and the night view upstairs at night is simply beautiful. The apartment is very close to the attractions, and there are many delicious foods around the apartment. The apartment owner is very enthusiastic. If you ask questions, you will answer them. You also take the initiative to introduce the surrounding food.

I had a fantastic stay at the Yulong State Guest Hotel and was extremely satisfied! Every staff member was incredibly dedicated and attentive. The hotel environment was excellent, and I had a very comfortable stay. The service truly stood out as a major plus. Both the front desk staff and the Assistant Manager were friendly and professional, and every service member I encountered was polite, making me feel right at home. I was so impressed that I even took photos. I will definitely choose Yulong again for my next trip to Chifeng.

I've stayed here a few times now, and each visit has been consistently great 🏨. The environment is really quiet, and the decor is quite elegant, which always puts me in a good mood 🌿. All the facilities are comprehensive and feel quite new, making them very convenient to use 🛠️. What I'm most satisfied with is the cleanliness; it's meticulously maintained, making for a very comfortable stay 🧼. The location is also easy to find, with convenient transport links nearby, making it super easy to get around and explore 🚗.

The hotel's location is in the old town, very close to the General's Mansion, about a 5-minute walk away. However, beyond that, there isn't much else to explore, and the surrounding area is just average, not as clean or grand as the new district.
The hotel facilities are decent. The room wasn't particularly large, but the layout was well-designed, and the details were thoughtfully arranged. We stayed for three nights and didn't feel cramped; there was a place for everything.
The service was good and very responsive. Hohhot is very dry, and when we asked for a humidifier, it was provided quickly.
Breakfast is served in the revolving restaurant on the top floor, which has a nice atmosphere. However, there aren't many tables, so you might have to wait during peak hours. The breakfast selection was standard, with all the essentials, but nothing particularly outstanding.

The location is easy to find, situated in a building right next to Erdao Street. Be aware that each floor houses a different business hotel, so make sure to head to the 5th floor for this one. Laundry facilities are available, but there's no dryer; however, clothes dry perfectly if left overnight. The owner even helped me find a place to air-dry my clothes. On my first day, I embarrassingly managed to burn out the brand new hairdryer, but the owner simply smiled and promptly replaced it with another new one. The room was very spacious, clean, and comfortable. Overall, it was a very pleasant stay.

The room was spotlessly clean, the bed was incredibly comfortable, and the environment was very quiet with excellent soundproofing. The front desk staff were all super friendly and welcoming. The value for money is absolutely amazing, and it was a very comfortable stay. I'll definitely choose this place again next time!

GGuest UserThe hotel is about 4 kilometers away from the highway. The hotel is very convenient for parking and dining. There is a gas station more than 100 meters away from the hotel, so it is a good choice to take a break as a self-driving tour. In addition, hotel services and facilities are also good.
FFanniのAdikkito1. The housekeeper will add you on WeChat early in the morning on the day of check-in and keep track of your arrival time. Upon arrival, they will arrange for staff to help with your luggage and carry-on items. They will also make arrangements for your departure, which is very thoughtful.
2. Tuga Camp is located on the grassland, so on clear days, you can see a starry sky at night and the beautiful grasslands in the morning. The overall air quality is quite pleasant.
3. The camp offers several types of accommodation: yurts, tents, and RVs. Yurts come with windows (for views) or without, and the prices vary. I heard that the tents don't have showers.
4. We booked a windowless yurt, which was odor-free and well-ventilated. Clean towels, bath towels, and disposable toothbrushes and combs were provided, and towels were changed daily. The only drawback was the lack of children's toiletries (we didn't ask the front desk if they had any since we brought our own). The bathroom and toilet didn't have separate wet and dry areas, which resulted in the toilet and floor getting completely wet after showering. The housekeeper said the yurt is being renovated, and the experience will be even better then. 4. The yurt we stayed in originally had a wooden door, but it broke over time and was replaced with a frosted iron door. However, the frosted door allowed so much light in that the sun shone brightly every morning, making it hard to sleep. A yurt door must face south, and ours had no front to block the sun, so you can imagine how intense the morning sun was. 🤣
5. At Tuga Camp, the sheep flock to the accommodation area, so you have the opportunity to get up close and personal with the lambs. However, horseback riding, camel carts, and off-road vehicles are all available for a separate fee. They are all located next to the parking lot. Horseback riding costs 100 yuan per kilometer, and there are discounts for staying at the camp. The bonfire party was held in the square, surrounded by a large basin. It was during a fire ban when we visited, so we didn't get to join in. There's an observation deck next to the square, covered with chairs and tables, so many tourists come up to sit and take photos. 6. Breakfast is served daily in a glass room next to the reception center. Breakfast vouchers grant access. If you lose your voucher, you can retrieve it at the reception center with your room card. The buffet breakfast is almost identical for all three days. Aside from the beef and mutton, all other ingredients are shipped from Hailar, so there's little variety. Fortunately, the variety is plentiful and the food is delicious. Be sure to try the milk and milk tea; they're delicious.
7. The camp offers lunch and dinner, à la carte. Orders are placed at the reception center and then served in the glass room. The view from the glass room is also stunning.
Overall, the experience at Tuga Camp was very good. The service was truly excellent. I'd love to stay there again.
Ffp1838As expected of a state guesthouse, the courtyard is spacious and the facilities are excellent, all in excellent condition. The shower has a large flow of water. The bedding is high-quality. The breakfast is particularly good, with a strong Mongolian flavor, including milk tea, mutton steamed buns, mutton offal, and a variety of dairy products.

TTOHCWe had a fantastic stay at this hotel! The cozy tea house decor make us feel like in a charming retreat rather than just a place to stay. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, making us felt right at home. Kudos to housekeeping for the sweet note and extra bottle of water - love the reminder to stay hydrated! Highly recommended!
JJdalajiaoThe B&B owner was incredibly hospitable, and to my surprise, the room was spotless. Even though it snowed the next day, the room stayed warm – truly excellent. We had dinner at their place, and every dish was delicious. The 'shou ba rou' (hand-grabbed meat), 'ban you mian' (mixed oat noodles), and lamb noodle soup were all very popular, but the milk tea was especially outstanding – the best we've had on our entire trip. There was even a bonfire party in the evening; despite the cold, everyone's enthusiasm kept the chill away. We also got to set off fireworks, and the owner offered very fair prices. The kids absolutely loved it! We went during the May Day holiday, so the grass hadn't turned green yet and it was still a bit cold. The owner recommended visiting after June 20th, so we might have to go back in the summer.

GGuest UserThis stay was a pleasant surprise! The room was spacious and bright, and the bedding was incredibly soft, like sleeping on clouds. The mattress provided just the right amount of support, and with the excellent soundproofing from the double-glazed windows, I slept soundly until morning. The bathroom had a perfect wet/dry separation, and the hot water supply was ample and consistent. The branded toiletries were high quality, and the towels and bath sheets were thick and soft. Every corner of the room was spotlessly clean, and amenities like a smart TV, high-speed WiFi, and bedside charging ports were all readily available. The attention to detail truly impressed me.
YYiranzhiyinI am very satisfied with the room, the hotel facilities and equipment are very good, and the room is very clean. Now my sister's service is also very good, which has helped us solve many problems and will come again. I am very satisfied.
