Booked a suite. The executive lounge was a bit lacking, but the infinity pool on the rooftop was absolutely stunning! Perfect for watching the sunset. Breakfast was also very rich and varied, though I must say, the bowls for the noodles were tiny. Seriously, serving noodles in those small, two-handled bowls was quite something!

Aside from the nice views, everything else was pretty mediocre. We stayed in room 7418, which was quite spacious and kid-friendly. It had both a bathtub and a shower. The TV had static, and the breakfast was the same every single day – at least for the 6 nights we stayed, it was the same few options. Surprisingly, there were no noodles at the club lounge restaurant. For any egg dishes, you had to specifically ask a waiter for the menu, otherwise, you wouldn't know they even had them. For 6 nights at the executive lounge, the alcohol wasn't self-serve; they only gave you a tiny bit each time. The service, from check-in to check-out, was pretty much non-existent. Housekeeping seemed to depend on the staff's mood; the first night the room was cleaned exceptionally well – I almost regretted not filming a full walkthrough. But the following days, the cleaning was very superficial.

I really loved this hotel! The location is super convenient, the breakfast spread is excellent, and the rooms are spacious. The staff are all very friendly, and the room service quality was good too! A special shout-out to Miss Wong at the buffet restaurant; she's incredibly professional and made us feel so welcome. This is a fantastic choice if you're visiting Kota Kinabalu!

The room was beautiful and spacious, giving off a super vacation vibe! The hotel staff provided excellent service. There's also a bar by the sea where you can enjoy a drink and dinner. The location is right by Sutera Harbour, and the famous 'Love at Ringgit Island' (which was popular online) has now moved to Sutera Harbour. It's also not far from the airport, making it very convenient for getting around.

The location is fantastic, a typical island resort with its own beach, pool, and water sports facilities – everything you could ask for. Both adults and kids can find activities to enjoy. We arrived early and there was a lounge available for us to wait for check-in, and staff helped deliver our luggage to the room. Since it was our anniversary, the front desk thoughtfully upgraded our room, which we were very pleased with. However, the water quality was quite disappointing; you absolutely need to bring a filtering shower head and change the filter frequently, as it discolors quickly after a few uses. Luckily, we were prepared. I'd advise others to be aware of this, as the water quality should definitely be improved to meet five-star standards. Also, we happened to visit during a partial renovation, so our room didn't have a sea view directly opposite. On the bright side, it meant we avoided the noisy crowds, and the peace and quiet were a plus. The breakfast was rich and varied, but it gets crowded after 8 AM during peak times. If you want a good table by the window, you need to go early, as the restaurant staff informed me they don't take reservations. The air conditioning in the restaurant also seemed a bit weak; that could use improvement. I hope to experience the upgraded Shangri-La on a future visit, I'm sure it will be even better. If you have enough time, this resort is perfect for a week-long stay – ideal for unwinding, relaxing, and comfortable travel. I'll definitely choose this place again next time I'm in Kota Kinabalu!

The room facilities are a bit dated, and the cleanliness was just okay, not thoroughly cleaned. However, the hotel environment is lovely, the beach is clean, and it's not crowded, which makes it great for surfing and taking photos. The hotel has a good ecological environment; you can often spot monkeys, lizards, and squirrels. The staff are polite and always greet you. Personally, I think it offers good value for money. The only downside is that it's a bit far from the city center, but you can take a taxi to eat out. There's a small commercial area about a 10-minute drive away, frequented by many locals and few tourists, and the local cuisine there is excellent.

The room is quite huge, comfy and clean. The plug point near to the beds is only one, so need to have a extension but there is plug point opposite of the bed. The toilet is okay, clean. Provided with the toiletries and slippers. There is also massage parlour downstairs, can make payment by cards

AAnonymous UserJust got back home yesterday, and I'm determined to write a thorough review for this hotel. My kids also encouraged me to review it, because it truly deserves it. We booked four ocean villas for two nights, and I initially thought our chances of encountering issues would be higher with such a large booking. But we didn't run into any problems at all! In fact, I even regretted not booking more nights, mainly because I was put off by too many negative reviews on Ctrip. 1. **Service:** If you're comfortable communicating in English, the hotel service is absolutely fantastic. Most of the staff speak excellent English and were diligent in explaining activities, facilities, schedules, and programs. They showed us where everything was in the room and proactively informed us about the cost if we broke any of the toiletries bottles. The higher cost for broken bottles is because the contents are genuinely expensive – they're pure plant essential oil toiletries. As someone who regularly uses essential oils, I know they shouldn't be stored in plastic. Plus, these toiletries left our hair and skin feeling moisturized, not dry. I found them to be very effective. If you're worried about breaking them, just place them on the floor. 2. **Seawater:** The seawater is quite clear. While it's not a 'jelly blue,' the clarity is definitely good. We did experience a heavy downpour one day, and the water became a bit murky the next, but it was still perfectly acceptable. The photo of the large sea turtle looks a bit blurry because it was taken with a waterproof phone case, but the water itself was actually very clear. That was taken from under our water villa. The manta ray was photographed near the stairs of our water villa room. 3. **No Outside Food Policy:** They don't allow outside food in the rooms because it attracts ants and monkeys. The front desk has a dedicated area for storing snacks. We didn't bring any snacks into our room and always closed the door promptly, so we didn't have any bugs or insects. A crucial point: absolutely do not feed the monkeys! 4. **Meals:** We had all our meals at the hotel restaurant, and the food was truly delicious. A main meal costs around 90+ MYR per person (about 160 CNY). We felt the food was excellent, with a good variety of dishes and drinks beyond just the main courses. The kids' portions were a bit small; our four children ordered 7 kids' meals, and eventually, we just ordered them regular adult meals instead. 5. **Hot Water:** Regarding previous reviews mentioning no hot water, one of our rooms indeed had this issue. We called the front desk, and it turned out there's a 'water heater' button on the wall. Hot water was available within 15 minutes. So, don't hesitate to ask! Don't be shy; good service often requires you to speak up. 6. **Free Rentals:** Paddleboards, small boats, fins, and masks are all available for free rental. 7. **Marine Life:** In the ocean, we spotted baby sharks, baby manta rays, triggerfish, archerfish (the ones that shoot water), porcupinefish, and even a large sea turtle (which is rare, but we got lucky!). 8. **Welcome/Farewell:** We received a welcome ceremony and a welcome drink upon arrival. Upon departure, we sometimes had the whole staff waving goodbye to us. 9. **Guest Demographics:** There were a lot of European and American guests at the hotel, some Koreans, but not many Chinese guests. I wonder if this is due to the excessive negative reviews on Ctrip. 10. **Cleanliness:** The hygiene was excellent, and the rooms were very clean. Each room came with life vests, so you could go snorkeling anytime. That pretty much covers it. I believe if your English communication is good, feel free to chat with the front desk and restaurant staff; they are very engaging. At 8 AM, the hotel organizes a free jungle trek. It was a bit tiring, and we didn't see much – just hiking uphill. For reference, my experience this trip, and with these four rooms, was genuinely excellent. Having been to places like the Maldives, Bali, and Koh Lipe... I think this hotel offers great value for money, and I would definitely come back. Hotels at this price point on Koh Lipe before were significantly worse.

XXiaolanmaosarahThe hotel was really just so-so, but its location is great. It's only a 10-minute walk to the pier for boat excursions, and there are supermarkets and restaurants all around. However, I really have to complain about the hotel's service. We were two adults and one child, and we brought our own toiletries. We just wanted to ask for one more bath towel, but the hotel refused... Honestly, it's the first time I've encountered such a stingy hotel. I wasn't trying to take it home; it's just that two towels aren't enough for three people to shower. That's easy to understand, right? Seriously, it's speechless...

GGuest User## Environment and Facilities: The hotel boasts a private beach area. While the water isn't crystal clear, you can witness the most stunning sunsets there. The garden wing pool tends to be a bit crowded, but its 2.2m deep end and slide make it quite fun. The ocean wing pool offers more privacy and is spacious enough, though it's only 1.4m deep. The hotel offers many activities, but most come with a fee, which feels a bit stingy. It wouldn't be cost-effective to pay high-season rates and then still pay extra for activities. ## Cleanliness: Overall, the hotel is clean. Although it's been open for over ten years, it's well-maintained. Staff clean the rooms daily, and public area corridors are mopped every day. The amenities are also very clean. The only minor drawback is the thriving ecosystem nearby, with many small birds and animals, leading to frequent bird droppings on the room balconies. ## Service: The staff are enthusiastic and generally very responsive to requests, always greeting guests. ## Room: The ocean wing's sea view suite has a very large balcony with a big bathtub, offering pleasant sea and pool views. The in-room minibar is complimentary and restocked daily. ## Dining: The ocean wing's buffet offers a semi-buffet style with à la carte options, featuring a good selection of meats, and the food tastes excellent. The other restaurants in the hotel are quite expensive, and reportedly, the food is just mediocre. We went to the nearby Oriental Tea Restaurant; the front desk staff helped us contact the owner, who personally drove us there and back. The food was decent and quite affordable. ## Overall Impression: This hotel provides a great resort feel. During the off-season, it's not crowded, and our two-night stay for 3.5k was a good experience.

AAkmaaalI recently stayed at Sutera@Mantanani for a-night, and it was magnificent an unforgettable island experience. The room was spacious enough for both of us! WE ARE SO HAPPY that they provides everything we needed for a comfortable and relaxing stay. The rooms are well-equipped with air conditioning, ceiling fans, flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, tea and coffee making facilities, and safety deposit boxes. There’s no need to worry about bringing toiletries or coping with the island heat, as all essentials are thoughtfully provided, making it easy to unwind and fully enjoy the island experience. We spent the morning watching the sunrise and the tide coming in with the clean ocean and beautiful Mount Kinabalu.Other than that they also have kayak rentals, and there is many activities we have done such as sunset walk, ATV, volley ball with other guest, and a romantic night with a bon fire and skies full of stars. The staff were super friendly and helpful, especially during the boat transfer from Rampayan Jetty, they helped us load our luggage, AND they also very helpful in explaining the trip itinerary, ensuring guests could manage their time well and make the most of their stay, while also clearly informing us of rules and safety guidelines to ensure everyone’s well-being. Meals were served buffet-style in the resort’s open-air dining area, with fresh local seafood, grilled fish, nasi lemak, and tropical fruits, breakfast included eggs, toast, and local pastries. We appreciated that the chef accommodated a vegetarian request without issue. Overall, Sutera@Mantanani is a perfect island retreat, and I would came back here and highly recommend it to couples, families, or anyone seeking a quiet, nature-filled getaway.

AAlisayaaI stayed at ***a Island Hotel 12 years ago, and I came back with my daughter full of anticipation, only to be utterly disappointed. There were two reasons: 1. The front desk girl in picture one was rude, arrogant, and shirked her responsibilities. After the normal check-in process on the island at 2:10 PM, we waited until 2:45 PM without being assigned a room (normal check-in time is 3:00 PM). Considering my daughter was feeling unwell with a cold, I spoke to the front desk girl about going to the restaurant to eat and rest first (the front desk staff was aware of the situation as they led us to the restaurant). When we returned to the front desk at 3:30 PM to check in, we were told there were no rooms available because we weren't waiting at the front desk. What kind of logic is that?! The truth was the rooms hadn't been cleaned, but the front desk just rudely insisted it was because we weren't waiting. Throughout, I communicated gently in English, yet I still felt the arrogance in her words and attitude. This should not happen at a hotel of this caliber. I saw other Chinese guests also having trouble getting rooms. I didn't want to argue and ruin my mood, so I immediately contacted Ctrip's dedicated customer service. Junjun was very professional and patient in resolving the issue. Finally, the hotel manager intervened and apologized, and we checked in at 4:45 PM. Once the manager arrived, the problematic front desk staff suddenly became timid; her demeanor was truly disgusting. 2. The room's cleanliness was poor. There were various hairs in the bathroom, and the bathtub still had uncleaned stains. The hotel's large bathtubs are a feature, but regular disposable tub liners don't fit; you need extra-large ones. The hotel's compensation included a room upgrade and a complimentary dinner. The hotel environment, and thanks to Ctrip for helping us get checked in smoothly. The hotel's natural environment is still excellent, quiet and comfortable – that's why I've missed this hotel for so many years. The main guests are still Caucasians and Koreans, with a smaller proportion of Chinese. The restaurant is quite good, especially the chef's skill.

GGuest UserFamilies, go for it! This is a genuine recommendation from a fellow Chinese. The 'jellyfish sea' is stunning and unobstructed, the food is delicious, and the staff are incredibly friendly. Being able to snorkel right from your room is amazing. Plus, the pool and overwater nets are super photogenic! 24-hour electricity, water, Wi-Fi, and all sorts of facilities are available and well-maintained. The value for money is truly excellent. The boat captain's driving skills are superb – no seasickness at all. The young guy on the boat is also very handsome and stylish, and he even dances during the trip. As soon as you disembark, staff greet you with a welcome drink, and they'll even hold an umbrella for you and carry your luggage. For those interested, you can also ask the boss to sing and dance! 😎

MM7679****Everything was perfect. Every staff member at the resort was incredibly welcoming and helpful, even the maintenance workers I passed on the paths greeted me warmly. The food in the restaurant was delicious, and breakfast was absolutely perfect – I couldn't find a single fault. The resort doesn't cut back on service or close facilities just because there are fewer guests, which is great. It was a perfect getaway, and I will definitely be returning.
