Twin Peaks Lakeside Inn

There are some car hotels, right next to Lake Taupo, the scenery does not say, the car stops at the door of the room, very convenient, very suitable for self-driving travel. The rooms are compact but well-equipped, cooking and bathing are not a problem. It is very close to the supermarket and the place to eat, and there are two or three intersections by car. The New Zealand big sister at the front desk was very enthusiastic and stayed with milk.

Patrick couldn’t do enough for us. Superb rooms. Large, great bedding, towels and toiletries. Good heating and amazing decor. Pub next door serves excellent food and staff were all incredible. We were cycling 120km over the weekend and Patrick was full of tips and even offered to help if we got injured or stuck. We left our cars there and they were very accommodating. On return we booked a room to shower before heading back to Auckland and be put 10 towels and soap in the room for us. Also complimentary continental breakfast and lounge room. Microwave, toaster, cereal and milk. Thanks Patrick and your wife. Your service, food, motel was top notch.

We spent one night here. Room was large, clean and adequate for our needs. The design of the room / bath is a bit different..might say contemporary. It was quiet. Parking is limited near rooms but plenty of spaces in back of one building. There was a small kitchenette with refrigerator, coffee/tea fixings and toaster, dishes, etc., large jacuzzi tub (didn’t use) and separate shower. Our room didn’t have extra toilet tissue, the roll on the holder was a bit 1/3 full, which is fine, but needed an extra. No breakfast available, but you can make your own if you have items. We made toast and coffee in our unit.

This hotel is in a wonderful location. We could walk anywhere in town. They have great laundry facilities and the rooms are really excellent The staff were really friendly and helpful . They have done a wonderful job on the rooms, Keith a small kitchen and a good seating area. The bathrooms were first class. We would highly recommend to anyone visiting the area for the location, service and overall efficiency. The rooms was really comfortable.

This was the most expensive motel we stayed in on our holiday and the worst. We had a one bedroom and a single in the lounge both comfortable. The roller blind in the bedroom did not fit right over the window so bright light from outside came in both sides and there was no curtain on the back door and as it shone straight into the kitchen lounge area the single bed space was very light. The kitchen was very small and all cups etc on a high shelf we had difficulty reaching. The microwave was above the sink at face height so often banged our head as we tried to do dishes. The bathroom shower was great but bathroom extremely small and no where to put anything, toilet shower vanity all in together which is fine but you had to shut the door to even open the shower or get to the toilet was very squashed. Also long black hair on the floor in bathroom and we are both fair! yuk. They had no where comfortable for 2 people to sit and was quite noisy by the road. Says on website about a cafe but we didn't see one and it wasn't mentioned by owner and we were there 2 nights. Overall not a great experience sadly .

This motel has been around for quite a number of years and has begun to show its age. However, a new owner has recently taken over and it looks like things will be on the up in the not too distant future. The main positive I have to mention is that the bed and pillows were very comfortable. That counts for a lot in my book. The bathroom was quite small and the shower box felt cramped. Additionally the ergonomics were a bit of a problem. The ”wardrobe” for your clothes was immediately adjacent to the cooking area and you had to manipulate the curtains carefully to keep out the brightness of the security lighting immediately outside the windows. There is a beautifully maintained swimming pool available for customers. However, the area surrounding the pool was a let down. The grass was in urgent need of mowing and edges needed trimming. Additionally the front garden and grassed area was poorly maintained and does not create a good first impression when driving in. A security camera has been installed so you can leave your car parked safely knowing that all will be well. We had a couple of otherwise comfortable nights here but I look forward to seeing how the programme of improvements will work out.
Judges Pool Motel Turangi

It has been 5+ years since we stayed here, and we still find it a comfortable spot. It isn't the flashest motel, but is well laid out and in summer with front and back doors open it can be pleasantly cool without needing the air conditioning (and it does get VERY hot in Turangi mid-summer). Clean and comfortable with all the items we needed in the kitchen. The WiFi is okay, but we did experience some glitches in the evenings. It is a short walk to the river or in to Turangi for food and takeaways. We find it a good spot and will stay there again if stopping in Turangi.
