The hotel is on the top of the mountain in Kandy. The mountain road to go is very winding, but the scenery is beautiful. The hotel itself is more like a high-end homestay in China, with a very stylish decoration and a local atmosphere. The room is spacious, with a large floor-to-ceiling window for a panoramic view of the beautiful scenery, and the exquisite bathtub is also very good. What's more worth mentioning is that the staff is very enthusiastic, and all of them have smiles on their facesđ. The most memorable thing for me is that the lady at the front desk is super beautiful and loves to smile. The children especially like her.
The hotel is exceptionally clean, and the room size is suitable for three guests. The overall atmosphere is very pleasant, with a welcoming ambiance throughout the property. The staff are friendly, professional, and highly attentive. The rooftop pool offers a wonderful setting with a great view, and the food is excellentâparticularly the dinner served at the rooftop restaurant. Overall, the hotel offers very good value for money considering the quality of service and facilities.

The hotel's location is excellent, right next to the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic. It's also a historic hotel in Kandy, so it seems like a popular spot for Sri Lankans to take wedding photos, which I think makes for a good experience. It also appears to be a chosen accommodation for group tours organized by Japanese travel agencies.
The breakfast offered a truly wide variety, and there was even a live kitchen where they made hoppers right in front of you.
However, the hotel facilities seem quite old. In the room I stayed in, the button to switch from the faucet to the shower was partially broken, so no hot water came out of the shower. I probably could have asked the front desk to fix it, but since I was traveling alone and had already taken off my clothes, I found it too troublesome to deal with and just made do using a water bottle.
We stayed at this hotel for one night and were thoroughly impressed by the excellent level of service. All members of the staff were exceptionally friendly and attentive. As we were the only guests during our stay, we received highly personalized attention. In addition, the hotel generously provided a complimentary room for our driver, which was a thoughtful and greatly appreciated gesture.
The room was spacious and extremely comfortable for three guests, featuring one king-size bed and twin beds in the attic area. The hotel itself is approximately 150 years old and beautifully preserved, offering a charming vintage atmosphere in the best sense.
Breakfast was of very high quality and served as a set course, which added to the overall refined experience. We highly recommend this hotel for guests seeking comfort, character, and outstanding hospitality.
The hotel is about 5 kilometers away from the Temple of the Tooth Relic. There are many restaurants and shopping malls downstairs of the hotel, which makes eating and accommodation convenient. On the morning of the second day of check-in, I started running from the hotel, circled along Kandy Lake and then returned to the hotel, which was exactly 10 kilometers.

Room is spacious, have all amenities and toiletries (just missing the slippers). It have heater instead of air conditioner as there is mostly cold here. Centralized control system is a plus. Washroom is comparatively much smaller and just the basic size.
Cons: The main thing was the management which was poor and mostly looked after only locals as we came to know by our driver. At check in the room key didn't worked 3 time and they have to call some technical guy to resolve the issue which was actually the issue in room door, still they gave us the same room. When we go to food court for breakfast in morning, it was only 4 set items only which also they decide they want to give or not. For every request it was a no even when we are willing to pay extra for the same. For the meal we had we asked extra sambhar they deny they can't give. We asked for sandwich or any breads which was also unavailable. But after sometime, they give sandwich to some other persons. When we confronted them, they told it is in different meal, we asked to give only sandwich they outright denied, when we said give meal they say come after 11. After complaining and telling at the reception his response was mostly defending and at last only told you can discuss with senior manager. It was our time to leave the city as per our itinerary so we left the place as it is.
The room looked clean and big, but it smelled very bad, and the air conditioner was very powerful! The buffet at our own expense was really great, and the price was not expensive. The food was better than in China!

It was our best decision to stay in this hotel one of the best of our two weeks trip around Sri Lanka. The nature around the swimming pool view is insane. Nice houses and the most surprising perfect dinner buffet just for 15$. Breakfast was good as well. Spa is good too but they not inform the oil is quite aggressive paint so it made my white skirt and shirt yellow (still canât wash)
The hotel is conveniently located and offers good value for the price. It appears to have been recently renovated. The front desk staff were friendly, welcoming, and professional; they kindly assisted me with ticket booking and provided useful local information. Room cleanliness was better than average. The hotel also offers on-site laundry services at reasonable rates, which was very convenient.
The only downside is that there is no elevator from the lobby to the first floor, so I had to carry my luggage up one floor before accessing the elevator to my room.

Very Good
DDhanushka WanasingheI recently had the pleasure of staying at this wonderful location and I must say, it was a nice place with outstanding scenery. If you enjoy a mountainous vibe, this is definitely one of the best spots to visit. The food was quite good, and the garden was absolutely beautiful. I especially appreciated Mr. Yoga, who guided us through the gardens and provided excellent support. One thing to keep in mind is that there are no elevators (only stairs). We stayed on the third floor and while the view was lovely, we did encounter some mosquitoes inside the room.
GGuest UserVery efficient, friendly hotel in a stunning location. The views from our room were amazing - across the lake to The Temple of the Tooth and across to the mountains beyond! Same views from the roof terrace and restaurant.
GGuest UserVery pretty and nice resort with mountain view. Friendly staffs and super super nice breakfast.
However, it is too fat away from Kandy city center, you have to pay 1500+ rp for each ride, and most tuk tuk drivers don't prefer to go to this place. The google map shows wrong way and the team knew about this, but informed us just on the day of arrival, making this journey even harder.
GGuest UserThe location is excellent, within walking distance of major destinations such as shopping malls, Kandy Lake, and the Temple of the Tooth Relic. Hygiene is acceptable, but the room had a strong odor, and the facilities are rather old.
GGuest UserA Hidden Gem â Perfect Honeymoon or Quiet Getaway
This place is truly a hidden gem. It was the perfect spot for a honeymoon couple or anyone looking for a peaceful, quiet getaway.
Travel tip: From Colombo, you can catch a direct bus to Nuwalapitiya. We didnât know this and went via Kandy, which made the journey longer than necessary. If we had known, we would have taken the direct busâitâs much easier.
Ps:The bus ride is phenomenalâvery beautiful views along the way and very cheap.
The property is located on a hill and is naturally beautiful, surrounded by trees and birds whose songs make the atmosphere even more serene. It does get a bit cold at night, but it was the perfect kind of chillyâcozy and refreshing.
Our room had an amazing view, making it even more special. The stay itself was perfect for our honeymoon: very cozy, comfortable, and clean.
The staff were amazing, especially one gentleman at the restaurant (I didnât catch his name, but I want to mention him). He went above and beyond to help us and was incredibly sweet and warm-heartedâit really made our stay special.
A small note: we noticed the pool looked a bit dirty, which some other reviews also mentioned. However, it was clarified in the pool area that they use natural spring water without chemicals, so this is expected and actually a great eco-friendly approach. But This hotel needs some love because this is a very nice place.
Another small note: there were some insects, like cockroaches, but thatâs expected when staying on a hill in the middle of nature surrounded by trees.
Overall, this was a truly wonderful experience and a perfect spot to relax, unwind, and enjoy nature. Highly recommended!!
GGuest UserThe Good
The standout feature of The Coffee Bungalow is undoubtedly its staff, particularly Adrian, who went above and beyond to ensure our stay was enjoyable. Everyone we encountered was attentive and genuinely warm, making us feel well cared for. The food was another highlightâdelicious and thoughtfully prepared. A particularly nice touch was when they packed us a complimentary to-go lunch for our train journey out of Kandy, which was a pleasant and unexpected gesture.
The Bad
The lack of air conditioning was a notable downside, especially given Kandyâs humidity. While the property has a charming colonial feel, the absence of a solid door between the bedroom and bathroom was an odd design choice. Although the toilet and shower do have louvered doors, privacy is somewhat compromised. Another issue was the challenging entry systemâwe found ourselves locked out one night, which was frustrating and inconvenient.
The Ugly
Unfortunately, the biggest drawback was the ant problem. While some level of bugs is to be expected in a tropical setting, the sheer number of ants, particularly in the bathroom but also in the bedroom, was hard to ignore. It definitely impacted our overall comfort.
Overall, The Coffee Bungalow has a lot of charm and some truly wonderful hospitality, but there are a few quirks and inconveniences that might not suit every traveler. If youâre prepared for a bit of rustic charm and can handle the lack of AC and privacy, the warm service and great food may make up for the downsides.
MMtngSeerock The Kingâs Domain offers an impressive stay with super spacious rooms, a beautiful outdoor environment, and excellent service. The only downsideâthough not the hotelâs faultâis the occasional wild peacock screaming at night, which might disrupt light sleepers. Otherwise, a fantastic getaway for nature lovers.
GGuest UserThe owners and employees at this hotel are so, so lovely.
Unfortunately their hotel is not. I almost feel catfished as many of the photos highlighted the bar and pool party atmosphere. This was not the case - the pool was a decent size but in the shade and I actually didnât see anyone in it. The pool party drinking shots I highly suspect were perhaps not a genuine source.
The same goes for the bar which is massive and attended to by several lovely young, bored gentlemen as both times I popped up (once for dinner) I was the only patron. Again no party atmosphere or even people - which is a shame as it is a big venue.
Fortunately next door was another venue for some decent cocktails and music which saved the boredom somewhat.
The bedroom was a decent size with a small fridge (but didnât work), the bathroom was small, felt dirty, no hand soap or soap for the shower (apart from leftover previous occupants - and that was gross).
The pressure was poor making showering difficult and there was plaster on the floor from some damage - not cleaned up.
The bed was massive and comfortable with air conditioning and a fan so sleep was good.
Finally, and to repeat, the staff were lovely. Very hospitable and the location is about a ten minute walk to the Sacred Tooth Temple and Kandy Lake. So great location.
Would I stay there again - no. Would I pop in to say hello to the owners and next door for a cocktails - possibly!

SSHAOPENGThe location of this hotel is a bit hard to find, but it was really unexpected after entering the hotel. The hotel staff is very good, there will be drinks and drinks, the dinner is really good, and then the breakfast will be prepared in advance in the morning. The only downside is that the room is small, but the scenery outside is very good.
