This hotel have several convenience stores nearby. And a shopping mall near the car park. I rented a three bed room. At first, the humidity of the room is relatively high, and have an air-con water dropping issue. Being told that this issue is normally in Japan since it is a raining season, but the staff assist to offer another room. The second offer room air-con is in trouble, which is not cool even turned to 16 degree. At last, we were upgraded to the slightly larger room with three beds (the third bed is still a sofa bed). The room is so clean, two beds are in double bed, the tv could used for Netflix and YouTube. I would say the organise of the staff is in a satisfy level. The shower supplies are in Kose, the water pressure is relatively good among four hotels I’ve been stayed in Japan for this trip. But there are only 8 car parking in this hotels, with the first in first serve policy. So, we couldn’t managed to have a car parking although I’ve been told in the comment box by trip.com. However, they have some collaborated car parking suppliers nearby with a discount coupons. It’s not really convenient for you if you just stay for one night. But for me, it’s more than acceptable.

The rooms are a bit vertical, but I was able to spend calmly. I liked my wife very much. The public bath is also like a fashionable and splendid hot spring hotel. Maybe more. There was a drum coin laundry next to the entrance of the public bath, and it was convenient for consecutive nights. Breakfast was a buffet, but the buffet on New Year's Day is a great word. When I arrived at the entrance with the service of the soup and arrived at the seat, the miscellaneous boiling was carried first. The soup was very delicious. In addition to the usual buffet, there were special dishes for New Year's Day, but there were many fresh sashimi, kazukono, shrimp, etc. There was red rice in rice. All were delicious and ate a lot. I went by car, but I went directly from the underground parking lot to the front floor and the parking fee was very good. Moreover, I think it is the best value for money in a hotel in Kumamoto City with a 24-hour parking setting. My wife started saving money because she wanted to go to the end of this year.

Check-in only at 3pm and is an automated check-in/check-out system. Staff are very helpful and friendly. At check-in, you are free to choose your amenities from a very wide selection, including bath salts, face cleanser, moisturizer, coffee, green tea, etc. There is a giant tv in the room. No bottled water is provided. The room offers a full robe (short yukata and pants!). The rooms itself are very modern and renovated. There are two Family Marts and a 7-11 within a block of the hotel, as well as many dining and retail options within short walking distance. It is about a 15 minute walk to Kumamoto Castle and a 30 minute walk to Kumamoto Station.

Stayed in a room with an open-air bath. The room was clean and easy to spend. There is a tatami mats, so you can go go go. The bed is a bit hard, but it is not difficult to sleep. The open-air bath can hear the sound of the car because it is all over the city, but there is a cherry blossom and it is not visible from the surroundings, and the curtain for completely blocking is also installed, so if you are concerned, you can use it. The water was clean and easy to use. The outlet is hardly close to the floor, under the TV, under the bed, the bathroom and the air cleaner. If the charging cable is short, the tablet will be charged at the bed. If the charging cable is long, you can extend it from the TV and put the tablet on the tatami mats to charge. It was because it was a room near the coin laundry on the 3 floor, and I heard the sound of the washing machine. However, I was able to spend it without worrying about it. It is also convenient that the next door is seven eleven. I didn't use breakfast buffet because of corona. The hotel receptionist is a sister in a T-shirt, and there is no atmosphere called ”Hotel Man”, but I was able to check in and check out smoothly, and there is no rudeness. It was a very good hotel with location, newness and cleanliness.

It was a awesome stay at Koko Hotel Premier Kumamoto. We parked our car at the multi story parking building opposite and just walk over with our lugguage. As I have already read some reviews in advance, we have no problem finding the hotel but I must say the sign board is a little not eye catching and can easily miss it. (can see my photo below). Everything is comfortable there and I just have to make space for my luggage opening which is not much of an issue. The location is so convenient and can easily walk over to the shopping area for our dinner with many choices. We enjoyed our stay and there is also drinks vending machine on the level we stayed. Will definitely recommend it for it super convenient location :) btw is near to the Kumamoto castle too!

There is also a streetcar/tram stop so near the hotel which you can use to explore the city touristy spots! Shopping is convenient as the Kumamoto AMU Plaza (see another Review) is 5-mins walk away. The lobby is quite spacious and I quite like the intimate setting and lighting. Check-in was fast and 3 lifts serve well with travellers + luggages. The room design is quite standard and we have requested for x2 single bed, the room size is respectable. Noted that they're still using the physical hard key and not the keycard type. Hottel provided some amenities and complimentary bottled water in the room, sufficient for us . The Hotel is very into Going Green, there will be no housekeeping within first 3-days unless requested upon. This may likely be the model moving forward, to cut wastages. We had our breakfast at the nearby Pronto. The Kitaoka Shrine is just about 400 metres nearby, opposite direction of JR station so we recommend to drop by if time permits. A good stay experience. J

Good location, 2 minute walk to Sakuramachi Bus Station for long distance bus or city bus and also near tram station for city roaming. The kumamoto is easily accessed with a 10 minute walk. The room size and amenities are standard and clean.

Great value for what we have paid for. Efficient check-in process. High quality public bath facilities with two hot hot springs (one indoor and one outdoor), one sauna and one cold water pool. Although this hotel is listed as a 3-star hotel, we would say it is much better than many 4-star hotels in many regards. The employees at the check-in desk speak decent English too.

Very central location, which means the hotel is close to many amenities and great for a late night snack. There is no attached carpark to the hotel, but the nearby multistory carpark helps to serve all the nearby hotels. Bring the carpark coupon to the hotel concierge to validate the coupon and you can get a daily carpark charge of 1300 yen. Hotel also has a rooftop onsen, which was a great way to kickstart our Fukuoka trip!

The staff are wonderful and very helpful, standard level of service in Japan is just one step above every other country. The staff did valet parking for me without extra charge, and was quite helpful in helping us to get to different attractions and restaurants. Overall, the hotel is very dated and the rooms are in dire need of a full renovation. I think that is why the rates were quite reasonable. For a hotel this caliber (probably 5 stars when it was first built), we only paid around 10,000 yen per night. The issue is the rooms are really old and the carpet looks dirty and ripped. parts of the washrooms were so old the faucet looked like it's from the early 90s and with small amounts of molds in the creases. Because the hotel is old, the ventilation isn't the greatest either. One of our rooms although was non-smoking, we could smell other room's cigarette smell in our room. Overall, I don't really recommend this hotel because it's really dated, but if you are on a budget and want close amenity it's worth a shot. The staff are nice too so I feel bad for not recommending the hotel, but at the end of the day, there are just better options in Kumamoto today.

A traditional onsen hotel, recently renovated and facilities modernised. The twin bed room is large - about 50 sq m in size. In addition, there is a balcony overlooking an excellent view. The breakfast and dinner buffet are fine, though not very special. I like the Japanese style dinner better. The hotel is situated inside the mountain. Access is not easy. There are no shops nearby.

We are so happy we booked this hotel for heading to Mt Aso. First, the staff greeting was super warm and welcoming. The hotel is brand new and while our room was a great and functional design, the bed was the most comfortable western-style bed we’ve had in all of Japan! It’s location is super convenient if you arrive by train (it’s across the street) and while they don’t really have dining facilities, there is a fun outdoor market right outside where we grabbed dinner: meat skewers, mustard greens biscuit and a delicious craft beer (there is also ramen and a few other food choices).

I checked in with almost no expectations because there were many negative reviews on various websites. Some of the rooms and the front desk were being renovated, and the elevators in the building were protected by wooden frames, which made my expectations even more deflated. However, my friend had made a reservation for the first night with a kaiseki dinner, which overturned my negative impression. This was because the food was excellent, and the service of the male staff member in charge (the hall manager?) was very pleasant. I felt a strong desire for me to eat delicious local food. He also explained it carefully. In the assortment of two types of horse sashimi, I tried raw potato stems for the first time, along with the rare mane. Amakusa red sea bream sashimi, corn chawanmushi, red beef sukiyaki, Ishigaki pumpkin, takana rice chazuke, Aso milk pudding, etc., were all very delicious. The selection of two types of local sake after listening to my wishes was also excellent, and I consumed more than I usually drink. We were recommended Aso Shrine and its surrounding area as tourist spots, and were also introduced to horse meat croquettes, which we had as a snack on the last day of our stay, and it became one of our fondest memories. We were also grateful that they took the trouble to print out the information and provide it to us. It seemed that the group of six buses was all having the buffet dinner, and we had the kaiseki restaurant to ourselves, so we ended up staying for quite some time because it was so comfortable. We stayed for one night from July 9 (Sat) and stayed with a couple in the Japanese style room ”Nikwa” on the third floor. The purpose of this time was to touch the nature of ASO and to feel the liberation and to soak in a hot spring with good quality of springs. What I was worried about was that the closet was an old Japanese house, and it smelled mold without lighting, and the mattress on the bed was a little too hard, and the view was not good even on the third floor. The service was made to be a woman from Nepal, but there were several points that I was worried about, such as vertically distributing rectangular dishes of incense. I think this is a problem of staff training. On the way to Aso Mountain by self-driving yesterday, there was a traffic accident in the barren mountains and wild mountains. Everyone was fine, but the car could no longer move. The car rental company arranged for a tow truck. I originally wanted to cancel the booked hotel, but the hotel actually said to pick us up🥹. As a result, the hotel took 1.5 hours to come and another 1.5 hours to go back. Originally one meal and two meals, they actually left dinner for us, very touched. In the morning of the second day, the hotel manager actually said that he could rent another car for us, and even drove us to pick up the car so that we could continue our journey. Their service is really good.

The onsen bathroom was spacious, bigger than some of the private ones we paid at other places. Room was big too. Location was perfect. There is a very very nice dinner place Sakamoto nearby, that serves very exquisite and yummy food with price extremely affordable. A little inconvenience if all 4 shared onsen bathrooms are taken, need to wait for your turn. Note that out of the 4 bathrooms, there are 2 rooms with 2 shower heads, and 2 rooms with only 1 shower head. So if more than 2 pax showering together, avoid going to the one with just 1 shower head.

It was a very disappointing stay. After checking in, when I was about to head to my room, a female staff member ran up to me and guided me, saying, ”This is it.” Please get on the elevator,” and ran away. I get on the elevator on that street, but I can't find a room even if I look for it. When I went back to the first floor, I found the same female staff member again. And when it's time for dinner, I try to leave the room, but the door won't lock. Even though the door should be auto-locked, it opens when you push the door. Maybe it's badly built, the key doesn't go in and it doesn't lock. When I called the front desk, a female staff member came immediately, but she said, ”Please wait a moment,” and left without a word for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes had passed, a male staff member finally arrived, but he said, ”We can't move rooms because they are fully booked. We will call a contractor to fix it.” Do I have to?” When I asked, he said, ”Since there was a canceled room, please go to that room.” For dinner, I had the ”Akaushi course”, but there were also extremely few dishes. Red beef is a small amount of beef about 2 x 5 cm thick and 5 mm thick, about 3 small bowls, and a little horse sashimi and sashimi. This is the first time I've had such a small amount of food at a hot spring inn. It may be good for small eaters. I stayed with my eldest son's family of 4 who live in Kumamoto.They said they had never stayed at Kurokawa Onsen even though they had lived in Kumamoto for about 6 years, so they came all the way from Saitama to pay all the expenses to us.I wonder what's going on. (lol) The accommodation was a large inn in Kurokawa Onsen, but we entered the hot springs at 4pm, 8pm, and 7am the next day, but for some reason we had almost exclusive access to the hot springs.We had a large indoor bath surrounded by a bamboo grove, and a Japanese cypress bath. There are three hot springs: two, an open-air bath, and a hot spring with an open-air bath that can be used by visitors.The second one was probably the best.The quality of the spring water is simple.The room was an ordinary Japanese-style room, but you could hear the sound of a waterfall from the river flowing beside it. The meal was a buffet, and the tuna sushi with red vinegar was excellent.Afterwards, we had various types of skewers, amberjack sashimi, roast beef, and my elementary school grandson ate 5 rolls of eel, which was overeating.There were all-you-can-drink shochu drinks. We were able to compare the drinks! The shochu from Kurokawa Onsen was delicious, and the breakfast buffet included natto and milk that were locally produced and delicious.At night, we got to see Jupiter and the moon through an astronomical telescope, and my grandson was impressed! I didn't go for a walk around the city due to the cold weather, so I just stayed at the inn, but I was able to take it easy.I think this is an inn that families can enjoy together.

Considering there is a private hot spring in the room, the price is relatively affordable. We chose an A-shaped cypress bathtub room, so we don’t have to take the stairs to the lower floor. We found a good deal on the web site, which included discounts for having proof of vaccines, plus coupons totaling ¥8,000. I think the coupons were part of the ”Go To Travel” campaign. These coupons could only be used in Oita prefecture, by the next day. The hotel has a grand, luxurious appearance and feel, but also feels dated. After check-in, we took the shuttle bus to the outside onsen (about 5 minutes away). This was included in the price (I am not sure if it is actually owned by the hotel. There is a fee for people who are not staying at the hotel). This onsen was glorious! All the baths are outside, surrounded by trees and nature. The only caveat is that there were many stairs going down to the onsen. I did not expect that at all, and it was not easy on my knees (no problem for my partner). The other onsen in the hotel (there were two) also involved walking (it is as large hotel), and some stairs too. The floors in the onsen seemed more slippery than I remember any other onsen I have visited before. Dinner was buffet style. Due to COVID restrictions, we had to get our temperature checked, and wear plastic gloves while serving ourselves (there was a box at the table, and a container for disposal of them). The seating was partitioned, and it was very comfortable. Even though it was a buffet, there were 3 choices for seating: 5:00 pm, 6:30 pm and 8:00 pm, with a 90 minute limit. The food was good, but my partner had to stand in line at a station for freshly prepared meat for 30 minutes. Breakfast was served in the same place as dinner. We got a lower-priced deal, and our room was on the 1st floor. The hallway was a little dark compared to the other floors (which we had to access for the front desk/entrance to the hotel and to get to the dining area and the onsen). To me, there was a musty smell that my partner did not notice. The place is older, and it is right next to the river, and it was the middle of Japanese (humid) summer, and I assume not all the rooms are like this. There was a can of roach spray in the closet (which thankful we did not need!), and requests not to open the windows to prevent bugs from getting in the room. The sound and site of the river outside the window was wonderful. The beds (two twin beds) were comfortable and we got a good night's sleep. It was my partner's 50th birthday, so we mentioned this to see if they had any thing special (even for an extra charge). They gave a card and a plastic rose (I think the rose was for the birthday), but said they did not have anything else. The water pot already had hot water in it when we arrived. I appreciate that. They also had the kind of coffee in which you open the single pack, put it over the cup (good size, not tiny like some places) and pour hot water on it (like a one cup drip coffee- not instant). I often travel with these types of coffee packs as a lot of hotels in Kyushu only have instant coffee or none at all in the rooms. The

The hotel is good, it is old, but very clean, there is a sink and toilet, but there is no bath, there is a public bathroom in the building. After staying at the hotel, you will be given a bath coupon. Pin this bath coupon to take a bath in Youcai Hot Spring 50 meters away from the place of residence. There are sizes inside. There are more than a dozen hot springs indoor and outdoor. The first floor is open to the public. The first floor is provided by the guest. All baths (1st floor and 1st floor) with this coupon can be used for unlimited free, including the private soup here, but the private soup does not provide reservations and has to wait in line.

We are a couple from Australia and I only speak a little Japanese. This was a truly AMAZING experience! The staff were so kind and friendly, giving us assistance was no issue for them. The location is stunning, the private onsen was glorious and the dinners and breakfasts were bigger than we could possibly eat (and we love our food). The price point for this experience was so good - fantastic value for money. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a little adventure in the heart of countryside Japan. If you get the chance to also visit Minamiaso (they will take you there at no extra charge) for the day, grab some e-bikes and have a ride around- take in the beautiful scenery and wonderful food options.

I was traveling by car, and I already felt so beautiful when I arrived in front of the hotel. When you enter the hotel, the check-in attendant will ask you to put down your luggage first, and then provide you with a delicious cup of green tea and chocolate to relax you immediately! Although the waiter does not speak English, it does not hinder everyone's communication. The waiter knows how to use the phone translation software and is worthy of praise. There was a real buzzing sound when entering the room. ❤️❤️❤️ It’s so new, so clean, and so comfortable. The rooms are very spacious and have a private hot spring pool. I'm really happy. Dining is not included when booking a room, and the waiters will introduce nearby restaurants. Because I checked in for two days, I asked the waiter if I could order dinner and breakfast for the second day? Finally successfully booked. Dinner was a very exquisite kaiseki meal, the food was very good👍🏼and the portions were sufficient. The second breakfast was delicious. This hotel is really worth recommending If I have the chance, I will book this hotel again🏨

The location was hard to find using both GMap and Waze, you’ll have to lookout for signboards too and a little intuition to find the place. We travelled in a fam of 4, given 2 single beds and 2 sets of futon. There is no washroom in the room and you’ll need to head down to the public bathroom to bathe. Not an issue for us as we were gamed for the onsen. There is an indoor and outdoor space onsen with all the facilities that should be there. As it was at night, couldn’t really see what’s the surrounding at the outdoor onsen but it was huge. The stay came with set Japanese dinner and breakfast and it was a fantastic experience. Kind of like omakase where they serve each type of food one by one. Overall a pleasant stay, good for family. Parking was free and plenty of space.

It runs on the Yamanami highway to the Beppu area, and turns left from the intersection with national route 442 where the main rest house of Se is located to the Kurokawa Onsen area. National Highway 442 has changed to a new road for several years, and it is easy to drive because there is plenty of room in the road width. This inn is ”Ryokan Wakaba”. There seems to be a lot of guests on GoTo Travel, and there is no space to park in the free parking lot, so leave the key at the front desk. Night meal is a room meal. When I sit in my seat and look at the drink menu, the drink using ginger seems to be delicious. When Mr. Nakai came, I ordered ”Ginger Amazake”, which is said to have the least alcohol. The food is also carried in good order. The dishes unique to Kumamoto such as special marbled horse sashimi and Kumamoto Misai beef and Higo red chicken are delicious. However, the yakiniku in the room smells on the clothes. Breakfast is usually served in the hall on the first floor, but it is a lunch box in each room to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection. The rice is cooked in a pot using shichijo rice, and the side dish is delicious breakfast called ”Ogunigo no Rokuhon”, shichijo rice, maitake mushroom and Minamiseki fried miso soup. The inn was friendly and the response was good and the hot spring was comfortable.
