The hotel is located right in the middle of the busy area in the city centre. Everything is close by. It is also located by seaside area with full of tourist spot. The room is very clean. The staff are all friendly and the food is so good. I enjoyed my stay in this hotel and I would recommend everyone to try this hotel of you come to Kota Kinabalu.

As my first trip to Kota Kinabalu, my aunt had booked a room here at this hotel as she arrived here first. Since I was coming to visit, she had requested for a bigger room and asked if they had a discount if she upgraded. Unfortunately no. So I had met up with my family a few days later late at night from another trip with friends. My first impression was this hotel was located in a dank looking mall. Furthermore, upon getting ready for bed, the sheets were gross and stained, the pillows were yellow and ants were climbing on the wall where my tiny twin sized bed was up against. I literally could not sleep as some got onto the bed sheets, mind you its almost 1am. The next morning, I found a few ants climbing on my suit case as well. Being disgusted by this, I insist we move out immediately. I had gone online and booked a nicer room at the Ming Garden. We tried to get a refund since my aunt had pre-paid in advance for the nights I was visiting. They would not do anything for us, they said if there were bugs to call room service. Honestly, I don't think they would understand this but when there are ant's, MORE will come. And what? You're gonna have the maid spray RAID next to my bed at 2am? That smell of bug spray probably isn't good to inhale. They looked at us like we were being too much or too extra but honestly, we're from the USA and I haven't stayed in such an unsanitary hotel before. Not even in the Philippines. What is really frustrating is they wouldn't give my aunt a refund. They could only offer her credit to stay at a later date. This would never fly or be alright in the USA. Very disappointing in the service. Just beware! This was terrible service in my honest opinion and the Ants! I had to check everything in the new hotel as some ants got into my suitcase. DISGUSTING. BEWARE. DON'T STAY HERE. Photos are also false advertising of the deluxe room. The walls were cracking, the floors were warping....just beware.

So far when read all the reviews, I was abit scared to book because there's also a bad reviews about this hotel & the service. Plus it's self check-in and check out. But I have faith and just book, I bring my husband and children to stay, the service was excellent. They keep on answer my question and guide me well, abit early check in. When enter the room also we were surprised because it's was so nice! The room spacious, towel, everything was there, clean, air-conditioning and everything has no problem. We really love it! Will repeat to stay here again next month for sure! Regret not to stay here for long time, this time will take a longer time 🥰 really recommend

My recent stay at The Pacific Sutera Hotel was nothing short of exceptional. Despite only spending 2 days and 1 night at the hotel, the level of service I experienced was truly top-notch. From the moment we stepped into the lobby until our departure, every aspect of our stay exceeded expectations. The hotel's attention to detail was evident in every corner, from the cleanliness of the facilities to the overall ambiance, which contributed to a memorable and enjoyable experience. However, what truly set this stay apart was the outstanding service provided by the hotel staff. I must make a special mention of one staff member whose name unfortunately escapes me. She mentioned that she has been a part of the hotel's team for the past 20 years, and her dedication to her work was palpable in every interaction we had with her. Her genuine friendliness, warmth, and professionalism enhanced our stay and left a lasting impression. I believe it would be wonderful if the hotel could consider acknowledging her dedication and exceptional service with a bonus or some form of recognition. The location is good. The room was decent, spacious and clean. For rm150/night withour breakfast, i believe it was a good bargain since it is located at prime area. You can just walk to todak waterfront and Filipin market. But beware if you park outside of the hotel without the parking coupon, you’d be fined rm30.

Seriously!!! The room is tremendously clean and tidy. It's that feeling of being home even if you're far away from your own home. I must say it's very convenient to move around to the city, e-hailing is easy to get. Food is only a touch away on our phone. A wide selection from nearby restaurants. Well no complaints as i have a good night's rest before our flight.. by the way, the airport is only a walking distance if you love to have a walk .. just a suggestion for backpackers

Well maintained resort and good service. Breakfast spread is good and yummy. Harbour is just 5-10 mins walk away to take boat ride to the Tunku Abdul Rahman islands. Boat ride is only about 15-20mins to the islands. Lovely great swimming pools for both adults and kids and a small private beach for snorkeling. Rooms are clean and spacious. Sunset is beautiful. Love the stay and we will be back. Thank you!

We spent 3 nights at Gaya Island Resort and had a great time, I thought I would write a review because there are a few things worth considering before you go. Firstly, the place itself is amazing, the staff are super friendly and caring - probably the most professional I have ever experienced in my many years of travelling. So all in all it was a wonderful stay. The things worth noting are as follows: 1. The sunbeds, I think may have mentioned it and it's worth mentioning again - there are nowhere near enough. When you pay and arm and a leg to stay at a beautiful resort it is annoying that they haven't found a way to add more sunbeds. People get there early, throw on their towels and stay or disappear and the seat is gone for the day. This is a solvable issue and the resort should so something about it. 2. Check in is after 3 - could be later - and it's not flexible, so if you are arriving earlier be prepared to sit around waiting for your room. It would be nice if they could flex a little as waiting hours for a room without your bags is not a joy, but it is what it is. 3. Eating - you are on the resort, so you are eating in one of their restaurants - no other options available. There are a few restaurants so not really a problem (we did the hot pot restaurant and it was great), but good to be aware. By far the most expensive places we ate in Malaysia, but I guess given the quality of the resort it wasn't a surprise and the main restaurant is reasonable enough. 4. Activities - my wife and daughter did the cooking class and loved it, we did the night walk - which was fun and me and my son did the coral garden. The Coral garden was fun and I was lucky to see a big old shark. However there is a large amount of plastic floating on the surface of the water that is quite concerning and makes the whole place not feel so clean. The corals and fish look healthy so may be fine, but be prepared to swim through bottles and crisp bags to see the fish. The local resorts and local authorities should really work together to resolve and you pay the tourist tax, so not sure where that's going, but not to plastic clearance by the look of it. Hope that's helpful. all in all, it's a beautiful place to stay, could just do with a tweak here and there to make it even better
