I stayed in a double room for three nights in September 2026 while attending a work conference in Kota Kinabalu. The room itself was spacious, with generously-sized double beds and a large bathroom. However, the overall furnishings, particularly in the bathroom, felt rather dated and showed noticeable signs of wear and tear. The hotel is very centrally located and close to Imago shopping mall, with taxis and rides easily accessible via the Grab app. The concierge, bell staff and luggage storage team were warm, attentive and helpful throughout my stay, and their service was one of the highlights of my experience.
Unfortunately, the service at Stylo, the rooftop bar and restaurant, was disappointing and fell below what I would expect from a Marriott hotel. I would also hesitate to recommend this hotel to light sleepers. The sound of aeroplanes flying overhead was quite audible at night and in the early morning. In addition, I found the beds and pillows overly soft, with limited neck and back support.
Overall, the hotel offers spacious rooms, a convenient central location and excellent service from the concierge and bell teams. However, the dated furnishings, noise from passing aircraft, overly soft bedding and inconsistent service at Stylo detracted from the overall experience.
