My first visit to Piamsan was truly a haven for health and wellness. The hot springs are both indoor and outdoor, and there's even a Korean sauna. There are so many pools to soak in, and I even tried the local specialties: red and green chili pepper hot springs! 😆 You can also change into Hanbok for free.
The front desk service was excellent, and thank you to Xiao Wang for helping upgrade my room. The room had a direct view of the hot spring area and a balcony.
Looking forward to coming back with family and friends again! 🌈🌈⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Every year when I return to Tonghua to visit family, I always stay at the Wanfeng Beichen Wuzhou Crown Hotel. The hotel is quiet, spacious, comfortable, and clean. Outside the window, I see rolling mountains, a sea of greenery, and the air is wonderful. The service is also excellent. It would be even better if the king-size rooms had refrigerators.

Changbai Mountain Landscape International Eco-Exchange Center — where “eco-exchange” really means exchanging knee joints for enlightenment 🐕🦺❄️
This old dog picked this place as a first-timer to Changbaishan because on paper it reads like a dream:
✔️ 5-minute walk to the Changbai Mountain VIP entrance
✔️ Hot springs inside the compound
✔️ “Eco-exchange” — which I later learned refers to exchanging comfort for character development
Location? Prime marrow bone. 🦴
Reality, however, is a scenic winter obstacle course.
The hotel is thoughtfully scattered across three separate buildings — one for check-in and breakfast, another for hot springs, and because suspense is important in life, the Food Plaza lives in yet another building.
In winter.
On ice.
With wind that slaps.
Not exactly age-old-dog friendly. I waddled. I shuffled. I negotiated with my knees. At one point I believe my soul lagged behind and had to catch up.
To offset this Arctic triathlon, the staff are available 24/7 on WeChat, responding faster than I can type “why did I choose this hotel?” Efficiency deserves a respectful tail wag. 🐾
Now let’s talk Food Plaza, the hotel’s redemption arc.
The food is genuinely scrumptious, warming, and emotionally supportive after being bullied by Changbai winds. Takeaway is allowed — which means you carry it yourself. Eco-exchange again. This dog fetches his own dinner. 🥸
Then there’s the hot spring schedule.
Opens at 13:30.
When the mountain is closed
and the hot spring is closed
what exactly is an old dog meant to do?
Stare into the snow?
Question life decisions?
Age visibly?

⚠️ Now, the bone that refuses to go down smoothly.
Despite having a relaxed stay, I felt continuously pressed for a 5-star review — on departure day from the first meeting in the lobby to gentle reminders all the way up the bus.
At that point, it stopped feeling like hospitality and started feeling like an exam I didn’t sign up for.
It made me sad, actually — because it suggests staff performance may be chained to guest reviews like sled dogs pulling corporate KPIs.
Trip.com, if you’re listening:
no guest should ever be pressured to review.
The moment reviews are pushed, ratings stop being honest and start being decorative.
This old dog is an independent reviewer.
I don’t bark on command.
I don’t roll over for stars.
And the harder the push, the more my paw hovers over the lowest rating out of pure principle.
Still — despite the ice, the walking, the soul-searching — the location alone makes this a smart base for Changbaishan first-timers.
Just come prepared with:
• good boots
• strong knees
• emotional resilience
• and the confidence to say, “I will rate when I’m ready.”

My stay at the Beidahu Million Stone Onsen Hotel was a mix of pleasant surprises and minor annoyances. First, I have to praise the VIP cable car – it made getting to the slopes incredibly convenient, saving a lot of time by avoiding long queues. The breakfast spread was also fantastic, with a wide variety of options to suit all tastes, making for a very satisfying start to the day. My biggest thanks, however, go to the hotel butler. From coordinating my itinerary before check-in to giving helpful tips upon departure, they were incredibly attentive throughout my entire stay. They responded promptly to every request and helped me resolve quite a few issues.
However, the one thing that really bothered me was the front desk service. Whenever I encountered a problem, they consistently pushed responsibility and tasks onto the butler. It made the customer experience feel disjointed – am I supposed to plan my entire stay around the butler's schedule? I sincerely hope the hotel streamlines its front desk procedures and improves inter-departmental cooperation so that their excellent butler service isn't let down by other areas! [Handshake]
Had a wonderful experience at the Chang Bai Shan Crown Plaza, the hotel is situated at the gate of the Chang Bai Shan national park, making it incredibly convenient to travel to the park itself. Before checking in the hotel assigned me a customer manager to help arrange my pick up from the train station. The hotel also has excellent hot springs it’s an incredible experience to be enjoying the hot springs in minus 30 degrees. Special thanks to the duty managers 姜姜 and 小庄, they were very professional with their work and always answered my queries promptly.

Manager Xiao Sui was incredibly proactive and clear about all the important details. She meticulously explained the schedule of benefits, hotel location, how to pay the ski deposit, and what time the ski resort opened. Given the cold weather in the Northeast, she specifically reminded me to dress warmly and to contact engineering if the room heating wasn't right. She even organized the operating hours for the hot springs and recreation center.
Every time I had a question, like how to exchange ski passes, buy Changbai Mountain tickets, or take the shuttle bus, she responded super quickly. She even proactively sent weather alerts and video tutorials for the shuttle bus. As a first-time skier, I knew nothing, but thanks to her reminders, I booked a coach in advance and avoided any unnecessary detours throughout my trip.
During our stay, she would also proactively check if we were comfortable and if we needed any help. This kind of genuine and thoughtful service made us feel incredibly at ease.
I highly recommend the Hilton Changbaishan! This stay was absolutely perfect from start to finish. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable, and we were welcomed with warm cookies upon check-in, which was such a sweet and comforting touch. The hotel staff were incredibly friendly and helpful; they actively responded to all our questions and patiently provided answers, making communication very smooth. The dining options were also excellent. The buffet on the first floor offered a wide variety of fresh food, and the Korean restaurant on the second floor served authentic dishes, so we never had to worry about what to eat. Getting around was also hassle-free; the hotel helped arrange taxis to Erdaobaihe Town, and the cost was transparent with no hidden fees. I especially recommend buying tickets for the Rime Rafting directly from the hotel – it's convenient and reliable, and the assigned driver was super nice, making the whole experience pleasant. What was even more surprising were the complimentary skiing and hot spring experiences provided by the hotel; they were top-notch and we had an amazing time. Next time I visit Changbaishan, I'll definitely choose this hotel again!
The hotel facilities are great, with a hot spring and comfortable rooms. We also booked a handpan experience and a photoshoot, both of which were good.
The only suggestion I have is that I'm not sure if management has set some strange KPIs, but the experience of staff asking for positive reviews was not great, especially since they asked to mention specific names. No wonder the comment section is full of names being mentioned, but honestly, the service wasn't memorable enough for me to recall any names. Each staff member was diligent and did what they were supposed to, but most of them didn't have a smile on their face. Whether in the restaurant or other areas, the staff seemed very flustered, hurried, and expressionless, which doesn't really fit the vibe of a resort hotel. Interestingly, the outsourced services like the handpan instructors, hot spring restaurant staff, and photographers showed a bit more warmth and naturalness. Management really needs to consider why this is the case.

We brought our teenager for a skiing trip during the Christmas holidays, our first time at Changbaishan. We chose Wanda Changbaishan International Resort, and the snow quality here is fine and soft, with wide slopes that are suitable for beginners. The resort is built around the ski trails, making it perfect for an immersive skiing experience. If you're not specifically coming for skiing, you don't necessarily need to stay within the resort itself.
The resort facilities are comprehensive, offering everything from equipment rentals to professional coaches. However, you absolutely must book coaches in advance during the ski season (you can search for the 'Wanda Hotels & Resorts Travel Platform' mini-program on WeChat). We couldn't book a coach on-site for our two-day trip; it was extremely difficult to get a last-minute booking.
On the other side of the ski resort, there's a dining area with a rich selection, from light meals to full dinners, all at reasonable prices for a scenic area. Additionally, the resort has hot springs and an indoor playground, great for relaxing after skiing or for family activities. Since our teenager is older, we skipped these; they're more suited for younger children.
My personal opinion is that all the hotels within the resort are quite similar. Since they all include ski passes, there's no need to choose an expensive one. The hotels in Wanda are all a bit older and not very new. Also, most of your time will be spent skiing, so you won't be in the hotel much. Every hotel is within a 3-5 minute walk to the Wanda ski slopes, so just pick one that's a good price!
Overall, the skiing experience with the kids was very satisfying. The snow quality is excellent, and the services are complete. Just remember to book your coach in advance!

I booked a Stone Age-themed room, which my kids absolutely loved and had a blast playing in. The complimentary hot spring tickets were a fantastic value. From the moment I got off the bus and walked through the gate, I felt the service was exceptional. The doorman, the front desk, and even staff I didn't recognize were all incredibly welcoming and helpful. The infinity pool inside the hot springs was stunning, the food was reasonably priced, and the bath attendants were incredibly helpful, offering helpful guidance on every floor. Ms. Lin Haixia was especially helpful. She was my lucky star. I was just worried about getting a return ticket, and she just chatted with me and got a notification on her phone that she had been put on the waiting list. So lucky!

MM741677****The front desk staff were quick and professional. We even got a room upgrade! The hotel's location is great, close to the North Scenic Area, and there are plenty of restaurants nearby. The breakfast had a good variety and tasted delicious. The environment is exquisite and comfortable, and the hygiene is clean and tidy. The hotel staff were exceptionally nice, especially the front desk lady. During the 817 Rice Festival, it was impossible to find a taxi, so the hotel even arranged a car to pick us up.

SSH.1The first visit to this hotel was full of warmth and overwhelming hospitality. I still can't forget how they welcomed us the moment we arrived at the hotel.
Firstly, we were overwhelmed by the staff
during our arrival. They all came out to greet us and help with our luggages and belongings all the way in to the hotel.
Secondly, with the seamless check in to our rooms and fruit platter, every gesture was well thought by the hosts.
Thirdly, they prepared a sumptuous dinner for us. Simple local delicacies yet tasted really good. The number of ginsengs in the appetiser surprised us! From the portion to the presentation of food, we can taste the difference and feel they put in their heart to make everything better. Lady boss was generous to treat us a bottle of local rice wine during our mealtime. Tasted really good and special! We like that drink!!
Additionally, we were asked for timing to eat breakfast and they would prepare that before our specific timing. They even asked us for our preference and customise breakfast for us. Breakfast was served and tasted as good as dinner! Freshly prepared and done meticulously by the kitchen.
Lastly, lady boss gave us an impromptu complimentary tea session after dinner. A unique and interesting experience indeed. Never seen and tried it before. It's a heating device with net on it, put the heating pot for stirring and cooking our own tea from scratch. Meanwhile, we have the finger snacks and nuts to roast on the heating rack (as shown in the pictures) while waiting for our tea.
In between, they would guide us how to prepare the tea. It was a chill and relaxing session. We enjoyed chit chatting while roasting our tea in the cafe. It felt so warmth especially when it was snowing heavily outside. The vibes were superb!
I had many enquiries and the lady at the counter helped me out a lot without hesitation. She tried all her means to help us. The lady at the hot spring was very friendly and provide good services too!
The staff from the hot spring, restaurant, concierge, driver and even lady boss all were very attentive, friendly and nice at any point of time during our stay. Pretty impressive indeed. Giving all credits to every single staff. Amazing team!
They gave us more than we could ever imagined from services to food to hospitality. Thank you for giving us an amazing and memorable stay! Overall it was a great and enjoyable stay at this hotel. Definitely recommend everyone to visit them and feel their positive energy. Certainly can't wait for our next visit to Chang Bai Shan again!!!
GGuest UserHad a wonderful stay! 👍 The room was clean, and my kids absolutely loved it. 😘 The hallway decorations were really beautiful and showed great attention to detail. The heating at night was excellent, not cold at all. Last night, we had dinner late in the business district, and when all the Didi/Baudi cars were unavailable, the hotel's engineer, Master Zhao, came to pick us up and drove us back to the hotel. We were so touched and grateful! 😊 My kids said they want to come back to Songguo Hotel next time. ☺️

__WeChat268104****Location: Needless to say, it's very close to the ski resort, with a shuttle bus service every ten minutes. It's also very near the entertainment plaza, which is excellent.
Facilities: Surprisingly good! The room was spacious, and the wooden-style furniture was very comfortable. What really exceeded expectations was the inclusion of a microwave, induction hob, and washing machine!
Service: The front desk service was on point. The lobby staff, especially those at the entrance, were very attentive. Besides greeting guests, opening doors, and helping with luggage, they even assisted with snow removal for vehicles, which deserves a big thumbs up! Additionally, the welcome drinks were a thoughtful touch. While a few cans of drinks aren't worth much, such gestures really enhance the experience, especially after skiing and soaking in the hot springs – a cold drink is just what you need!
Breakfast: The buffet offered a wide selection, and there were no issues other than having to walk outdoors for five or six minutes.
Benefits: The skiing benefits are a core competitive advantage. The hot springs are great, and the other included activities are a nice bonus. Overall, very good.
In summary, I highly recommend this place and would choose it again for my next visit.
Suggestions: Upgrading the TV's casting capabilities would be great. Also, perhaps consider enhancing the lobby's aroma diffuser and sound system.

__WeChat278069****This hotel offers incredible value for money! Right outside, there's a beautiful forest and a wooden boardwalk – perfect for photos, you'll get some amazing shots there! All the pictures I've shared were taken just outside the hotel. The hotel's decor is also lovely, with a charming Korean folk style. The heating works great, so no worries about being cold. The shuttle service is very quick, making it super convenient for skiing and hot springs, which are both very close by. The service attitude is excellent too; they even gave us a welcome gift and fruit upon arrival. Breakfast was quite substantial. Overall, I think it's fantastic, and I'll definitely stay here again next time. Highly, highly recommend!
WWanzixiaoxiaoThe room is very spacious, and they replace the clean towels daily even for extended stays. There's a free laundry room, which is super convenient! Especially the restaurant – it's affordable and incredibly delicious, with not a single dish disappointing. I highly recommend the Guo Bao Rou (sweet and sour pork) and Da La Pi (cold jelly noodles). I also want to give a special shout-out to the restaurant. After coming down from Tianchi Lake, I really wanted some ginger soup to warm up. Even though they hadn't made it before, they tried their best and made a whole pot for free, delivering it thoughtfully to my room with bowls and spoons. It was still piping hot when I received it – I was so touched and grateful! I highly recommend this hotel! It truly felt like a home away from home!
