This was our second stay at Sunway Lost World Hotel, and it was a much better experience than our first. We were pleasantly surprised with a free upgrade to a Classic Triple room, and having the night park passes included for both nights was a huge plus.
However, there were a few areas that could be improved:
Amenities: The room was clean and the linens were fresh. Unfortunately, we had no hot water in our room for both nights. Despite being told it just ”takes time” to warm up, it never did. Taking a cold shower at 11:00 PM after the night park was a major downside.
Dining & Location: The hotel isn't very close to outside eateries. Room service ends around 10:00 PM, so if you return from the night park late, options are very limited. Since we visited during the Raya break, most nearby Muslim-owned shops were closed, requiring a drive to find food.
Breakfast: Day one was enjoyable, but day two was a bit chaotic due to the surge of guests. Food wasn't refilled quickly enough and finding a table was a challenge and a lot of food were not refilled as it finished.
Overall, a good stay for the park access, but the water temperature and breakfast logistics during peak periods need attention.
The hotel’s location is truly unmatched! Step right outside and you’ll find yourself just nearby Ipoh Town. About 6 min walking to old town Ipoh.
The room was clean, comfortable, and ideal for a restful stay. The staff provided thoughtful and professional service throughout my stay.
Every request was handled friendly, promptly and perfectly. I booked my stay through trip.com and managed to get a great deal — excellent value for money.
Clean and tidy, with convenient transportation and excellent service. The location is also quite good. The only downsides were that the windows couldn't be opened and there was a noticeable smell of new decoration in the room.
The hotel's location is great, the beds are comfortable, and there are many restaurants nearby. Fushan Teahouse is just behind it, and there's a convenience store downstairs. Getting a taxi is also easy. The only downside is the Wi-Fi signal isn't very good; I hope they can improve that.
The hotel has a beautiful view, convenient location, and a clean, fresh lobby. The shower pressure is strong, the room is spacious, and the service is excellent. Most importantly, it's dust-free, gets plenty of sunlight, and the mattress is soft.
The hotel arranged for us to stay in a corner room which has weak WiFi access. I didn't have WiFi for the entire three nights stay. Furthermore, the bed was rather hard and the room was rather small. However, the hotel provides excellent breakfast and is located at a very strategic location. The hotel is very close to the Ipoh parade and within 10 mins drive to famous tourist spots like concubine lane. Overall, the experience was just alright.
The hotel is exceptionally well-located, offering easy access to the surrounding area for a pleasant walk. The bedding is of outstanding quality, ensuring a very comfortable stay. Additionally, the coffee shop located downstairs serves excellent coffee, which adds to the overall experience.
The parking is on the sixth floor, and you can get free validated parking by showing your ticket at the front desk when you enter or exit. The location is excellent; you can walk to Taiping Lake and the night market. Directly opposite the hotel is a hawker center, making it very convenient for food, drinks, and entertainment. The hotel breakfast is fantastic; the food, desserts, and fruits were different on both days. We stayed for 2 nights, and on the second morning, which was the first day of Eid al-Fitr, they prepared authentic Malay dishes like ketupat, lontong, and lemang. The curries weren't spicy, so even those who don't like spicy food could enjoy them. The staff were efficient, quick to refill food, and prompt in clearing dishes.
The only minor drawbacks were that the check-in process was a bit slow, there were some white spots on the room floor, and the refrigerator wasn't very clean.
Beautiful hotel with modern technology such as face recognition to access the lift and rooms. Unfortunately, during our stay the system did not work properly. Out of the three of us, only my son couldn't use the face scan to enter the lift, but he could scan to enter the room. Meanwhile, my daughter and I could not use the face scan to open the room door.
When we checked with the receptionist who handled our check-in, she mentioned it was a technical issue, but she did not seem very welcoming or helpful.
We were staying in room 3021B. After about two hours, the room became very warm. When we called reception, they said the room would take time to cool down because it is a big room. A technician came to check as well and said the same thing. However, this information was never explained to us earlier. The first night was very uncomfortable due to the warm temperature, and at 4am I had to go down to the reception to make a complaint. Only the next day, on 28/3 around 6pm, we were able to change the room to 4021B.
On the second day, a staff member named Hanis was very friendly and helpful, which we truly appreciated.
When we moved to room 4021B, I informed the concierge who helped us move our luggage that the front corridor light was not working. It seemed like this issue was not followed up, as the light was still not fixed (as shown in the photo). At that point, I did not bother to raise it again.
Overall, the hotel itself is beautiful and has impressive technology, but the lack of communication between departments and inconsistent service was disappointing.
I researched a lot of hotels in Ipoh. Most hotels are spread out around the Ipoh “downtown”.
If you’re arriving on a bus from KL, the bus terminal Amanjaya is 9km away. 20 mins on the local bus will take you to Terminal Kidd and it’s a 15 mins walk to M Boutique. I wouldn’t suggest this option if you have a lot of suitcases as the walk is on the main roads with cars and truck zipping past.
Location is surrounded by industrial and car dealerships, but once arrived you’re surprised! They live up to their name - Boutique! They have been in that location for 13 years.
Staff are friendly and helpful! Room (single room with no windows) was clean and comfortable and provided the amenities after a long day on the bus. And the hotel - SMELLED nice. Like a high end hotel.
It was a nice treat if you’re a solo traveler looking for comfort on a budget. I tried to extend an extra night, however Trip were only showing double and twin rooms - out of my budget for a solo traveler.
Asking at reception if the single room was available, they checked and I paid directly to hotel for a 2nd night. Your loss Trip!
Hotel amenities were great. Hot shower, WiFi and air conditioning working.
It’s a 10-15 min walk to the old city. When I arrived around 4 PM, a lot of things are already closed and quiet.
Walking around in the dark back to the hotel was a little uneasy, but you can easily just arrange a car to GRAB.
Highly recommended!

GGuest UserThe hotel's location is excellent, directly connected to Parkson Mall, making shopping and getting around incredibly convenient. The breakfast is also very good and offers a great variety. I highly recommend staying here. The bathroom has a very large bathtub, perfect for a relaxing soak after a day of sightseeing!
GGuest UserThe hotel staff were very friendly and the room was clean and tidy. The scenery was beautiful and the location was also very convenient 😊 Overall, my stay was very satisfying. The only minor drawback was the limited number of power outlets in the room, which I hope can be improved in the future.

AAida Najwa NandzoriI had a wonderful one-night stay at DoubleTree by Hilton Damai Laut Resort. The hotel is very kids-friendly, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. They have a great kids club and a fun water park that kept the children entertained throughout the stay.
The view from the hotel is absolutely beautiful—peaceful and perfect for a relaxing getaway. The room was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, making it easy to rest and recharge.
I was also impressed with the food at the hotel. The meals were delicious and offered a good variety, suitable for both adults and kids.
Overall, it was a pleasant and memorable stay. I would definitely recommend this hotel, especially for families looking for a fun yet relaxing short vacation.

Hharbi khalidA beautiful and peaceful retreat surrounded by nature.
The Banjaran Hotsprings Retreat offers breathtaking scenery, privacy, and a truly relaxing atmosphere. The villa was elegant and comfortable, and the hot spring facilities were exceptional. What made the stay even better was the staff — warm, professional, and genuinely welcoming. A perfect place to unwind and disconnect. Highly recommended.

TTeng SWThis hotel truly offers a special atmosphere. The staff went above and beyond; our names were even on a welcome board! We were upgraded and treated like VIPs. The general manager clearly fosters excellent hospitality. Even a waiter moonlighting as a village trekking guide made our experience unforgettable. It felt more like a home than a hotel. If you're looking for authentic warmth and connection, this is it!
AAnonymous UserRoom age and looks old especially the flooring SPC wood layer already peeled out and loose after we accidentally kicked on it near balcony, but is broken easily due to rain water seepage in from balcony and luckily our feet didn't get hurts after accidentally kick on it, also in detachable condition so really deteriorating . Took RM100 deposit upon check in and we worried they will blame this on us but luckily they didn't say anything.
I hope the management will at least change the flooring, as it can pose dangerous risk and don't let bad things happen over only regret over it.
Breakfast is included, under age 5 is free.
GGuest UserMarina Island Boat transfer easy, although I feel a little expensive. Coffee was cold, they had wrong check in information and I almost tripped on uneven block surface exiting building to boat. Check in completed at reception , with correction to booking. We were in a lower tropical garden villa, which is cheapest room. We were lucky to have part sea view and part back of pool view. Other lower villas in this category, not so good a view. This said, room was gorgeous, despite dead moth in sunken bath area. All the staff were fantastic and helpful. Chatted to some people in over water villas, who were disappointed you could not swim in sea from villa, nor enter sea from beach around jetty , due to sea urchins. On the other side of the Island is Emerrald bay. Absolutely stunning! Beautiful beach and sea to swim in. Lots of space for sun beds, but everyday ran out by 11am! Suggest they get some more! Forfeited scrumptious in all restaurants.
