Hotel is clean and tidy. Staff are always friendly and welcoming. Hotel is close to amenities. Great restaurants and pubs/clubs. Carlisle is a great place for a night or weekend away.
Overall, it's pretty good. The decor has a bit of an American style, giving it a warm and cozy feel. The view from the window is lovely, offering a direct look at the lake. The hotel restaurant is right downstairs, and we saw many foreigners sitting there enjoying drinks. The town itself is small; you can explore most of it within a 15-minute walk, which is very convenient. There's no mini-fridge in the room, but you can ask the front desk for ice, and they'll provide a large bucket.
We checked in late night, witn a car. The receptionist was very welcoming and helpful.
Room is as described. Heating was cranked up which we appreciated, but also had windows we could open. Great doorway location to the rest of the lake district.
Very happy with our 1 night stay.
I was so surprised to book such a great hotel! My son, who studies in the UK, said this would be considered a luxury hotel there. It has its own private entrance and a very spacious bathroom. The Lake District gets quite cold in the evenings during summer, but the heating worked perfectly. You can see sheep on the hillside right outside, and it's not a far walk to the town. Sitting in the courtyard, you can enjoy the scenery. The owner is really nice and responds very promptly when you need something. The instructions provided via WeChat were very detailed. A truly satisfying stay!
The WiFi connection was quite poor, not sure if it’s because we were at a corner room, but everything else was great, very clean and spacious room, will definitely consider again upon our next visit to the Lake District
Stayed here for one night and 20 minutes drive from the restaurant because I booked the only Misan restaurant in the Lake District. The hotel is located in the countryside next to the lake area. The room decoration is very beautiful and the service is good. I heard that the restaurant we booked was very happy. The parking lot was large and the hotel itself had a good restaurant.
Stayed at this guest house last night and it was very clean and great location to the town centre, we had a lovely room and a massive super king bed. Lovely breakfast in the morning and a car park on site which is good....
Everything was perfect. I wanted a homely bed for the night and this filled that. Lovely welcome and more breakfast than I could eat! Actually much nicer than I expected which is always a win
A hotel that's definitely seen better days! Staff were pleasant and the room had everything we needed, even a lovely massive cobweb on the inside of the window!😉 Plenty of hot water and lovely clean towels. Breakfast was plentiful and for a day or two was okay. For the prices you pay it offers good value, I'd stay again 👍
Cross the bridge and go straight to the shopping area. Not far from the car, there is a weekend second-hand market. Breakfast is delicious. The room is clean and the window is full of spiders.
Very Good

GGuest UserRum Doodle, well it was our first time at The Lakes and it certainly won't be our last! The location was just right with being part way between Windermere town and Bowness and was walkable to both. There were plenty of shops, bars and restaurants in walking distance as well as lake Windermere itself.
We found Rum Doodle with ease and was greeted at the door with a smile and friendly man (the owner but didn't catch his name). We were bought a fresh glass of apple and orange juice to our room which was refreshing after a long drive to Windermere. Our room was comfy, not too big or too small, a wardrobe, seating in the bay window, hairdryer, hot drink making facilities, wine glasses with cork screw and bottle opener. Very modern, clean and well presented bathroom with soft and fluffy towels, and a really nice shower. The bed was very comfortable and welcomed after a busy day exploring the surrounding area.
Breakfast was really good with cereal, fresh fruit and yogurt, toast, and then a choice of breakfast which were great too.
We had a pleasant and informative chat at breakfast with the lady that works there who gave us the heads up on some driving routes to try and avoid which was really useful.
After a day out exploring we went back to Rum Doodle to a cleaned room and freshly made bed with the tea and coffee replenished, so we were able to just drop and the bed with a nice cuppa and biscuit. Then out for a walk, some lovely food and a couple of drinks.
We couldn't recommend The Lakes and Rum Doodle enough! Well worth every penny

GGuest UserI have grave misgivings about hotels in the busiest parts of the Lake District, especially at holiday times. Obviously they will be relentlessly overcrowded, with harassed and unfriendly staff. I’ve wanted to go back to the Proper Lake District for a while though so took a risk on the King’s Head. It’s easy to find on the ear popping main road up from Grasmere, just beyond the impressive hulk of Steel Fell, close to Thirlemere. Parking anywhere in the Lakes is hideous and expensive. Not here. Relaxed and plenty of room. It’s a long building with a pleasant bar restaurant area and beer garden. I found a rather pleasant residents lounge where a lady called Jo checked me in and made me feel welcome. It does get busy with passing trade but the staff look after their residents. They flogged me decent real ale and Jura whisky (the proper stuff). Breakfast is briskly table served from a menu and is well presented. I didn’t eat otherwise there but the food is popular and well priced. The road outside is busy and a bit of a racetrack, and the occasional fighter jet roars between the mountains on low altitude practice, but the relentless bleating of the sheep opposite soon returns things to normal. I was a little sorry to depart, but the manager said he hoped I would come again. I believe I will, and will even bring my wife.
GGuest Userthe room a bit small but the breakfast is super value excellent service.
Transport not convenient without a car. Very difficult to get a taxi sometimes to return to hotel.
AAnonymous UserWe booked the Superior Double Room and I felt it was well worth the extra for the gorgeous view we had from 2 large windows - whether the skies were sunny or cloudy.
The location was excellent - within 5 to 10mins walk to the town and to Derwent Water and parking was well explained and ample. On entering Fellpack House, it was pleasant, well cared for and inviting. Our room on the top floor (stairs all the way up) was straight out of a home & decor magazine. The amenities, furnishing, towels and beverages were quality stuff and we saw that they also used locally sourced soaps and beverages. Housekeeping was daily and I loved that the gave us delicious chewy chocolate chip cookies each day!
The breakfast was fresh & flavourful. That they started off as a restaurant (that operates across the road and is highly rated) carries through in their breakfast - I ate so much and it was worth every calorie!
Best of all were the staff. We met many over the course of our stay and every one of them were warm, chatty, highly customer-oriented and witty!
Can you tell how much I loved our stay there 😀
Rrockylee1. The location of the hotel is very good. It takes only 10 minutes to walk to the cruise ship terminal. There are many restaurants nearby and the accommodation is very convenient. The room is large and there is a living room, unexpected, but the living room side is on the bedside, next to the street, sooner or later, some noisy, especially the UK speed is generally faster, pay attention to it. Breakfast is prepared in advance bread yogurt cereal milk, some in the refrigerator, some in the locker, do not have too much expectations.
2. If you come by car, you will need a parking card with the front desk, which costs £3 a day. There are unlimited parking. There are several places to park. It is actually very convenient. When you leave, you can go to the parking lot to drive first, and put the key and parking card at the front desk when you come back.
薛薛The hotel is relatively remote, but the environment is surprising, the rooms are clean, the backyard lawn is very comfortable, and the children are having fun. There is no place to eat nearby, only dinner at the hotel. It is estimated that usually only local people will go there. The service capacity is limited. Dinner can only be seated at a designated time, but the dishes are more delicate.
SSmiths travelsThe place was amazing and situated in a great place. Very near to a lot of amenities like bars and restaurants plus some shops.
The staff were amazing and so polite. We was made to feel like we was at home. Our room was huge and had a great view of the gardens.
Breakfast was outstanding and very tasty highly recommend.
We will definitely be staying here again in the future
GGuest UserThe hotel is in a great location the staff are very helpful & pleasent however the hotel & rooms are tired & a bit small.
There isn't a fridge in the room, the bathroom nightlight didn't work nor did the hairdryer it was also not possible to turn the towel heating rail off so having it on all day & night caused the room to be constantly hot (no air con).
The bathroom is small however the shower was excellent unfortunately the shower tray had a couple of large cracks which had been covered over with (discoloured) tape which made it look scruffy.
Breakfast was average, the breakfast room looked like it was waiting for an overhaul & the food was limited but ok.
Not sure I would stay here again there are other hotels for a similar price that, despite the lack of sea view, are far superior.
MmarissahuoWalking to the train station and the town center, the room is very clean, breakfast will be delivered to the room at the agreed time, there are several ways to choose eggs, I choose fried eggs, and hot oatmeal, very suitable for Chinese stomach. There are direct buses to windermere and Keswich.
