I booked a king-sized room, and both the space and the bed were quite large. Honestly, a standard-sized room probably would have been enough. The hotel has been recently renovated, so it still looks pretty new. The location is listed as Chinatown, but the nearest tram stops are about a 6-minute walk away. Thankfully, Melbourne's city center is quite compact. The room temperature can be adjusted freely. I'm not sure if there were disposable slippers – I've forgotten. We had two people staying, but they only provided one set of toothbrushes and amenities daily, so I was glad I'd brought my own. There's a small fridge with a complimentary carton of milk inside, but it didn't come with a straw. Things that brought down the score: One night, around 9 PM, the fire alarm went off. Everyone rushed downstairs, only to be told it was a false alarm. As we were halfway back up, it started ringing again, another false alarm. And then there's the noise. The king rooms face the street, and the noise mainly came from modified cars driven by 'ghost riders' all night, and then various emergency vehicles starting from 6 or 7 AM. If you've ever been to Thailand, the constant roar of motorcycles on the street is exactly what it was like. I even took two videos so you could get a feel for it, and those weren't even the loudest moments, just the mildest sounds. It felt like I was sleeping on the street. I don't think the hotel needs renovation; what it really needs is soundproof windows, otherwise, it's not suitable for a comfortable stay.

Lovely vibes, cool chill areas, community bar and community events plus the staff especially the lovely guy who booked me in was Amazing. However it's a very crappy old building with Nil working properly showers and broken toilets. I had 1 night in a nice female room which I barely even saw as I was out and Tried to rest at a 2nd booking being shoved into a mixed smelly weird noisy dorm on a top bunk with ****** knocking on the door at all hrs, one guy snoring and another twat on the phone I told off. Was stressful and I hadn't a Warm shower in a working functioning bathroom in 2 days. Not returning. If you like noisy rude tourists and old buildings with no lift carrying your bags everywhere and no showers, great!

I arrived at late check-in time on 2/11 Sunday and Mildua Inlander's staff was after office hour so I contacted to staff for room check-in by phone call, Staff are so helpful to help me to collect the room key and required admin work. However, due to the resort's layout and my room location(my room is ROOM 90), the circulation of the hotel is not poor, poor room ordering(it is not by 101 for on 1/F like typical hotel, it is using 1-50 for G/F, 51-100 for level 1; if 101-110 for block 1, 121-129 for block 2, 131-139 for block 3, 141-150 for block 4 would be better), no coherent corridor at the end, not much signage and map/easy to miss, no Lift or easy ramp for level 1. so, it is hard to find my room and poor experience before entry the room. Room is good for me. One thing is: can consider to have openable window after the mosquito net on the balcony sliding door if I don't want to turn on the air-conditioner.

I’d say I’m now a frequent guest at this hotel when in town, and that alone says a lot. Credit to the management and staff for consistently maintaining such high standards. The hotel is always impeccably clean, comfortable, and welcoming, making every stay an easy and enjoyable experience. The location is as perfect. Shops, cafes and transport nearby.

The hotel offers a good variety for breakfast, but the taste leaves much to be desired. For example, the fried rice and noodles lacked egg and only contained frozen vegetables. The hot congee and natural honey were among the few highlights. Despite being open for over four years, the hotel rooms and public area corridors still have that 'new hotel smell,' likely due to the lack of windows for ventilation, relying solely on central air conditioning. The pool had no lifeguard, and when I went for a swim, many children were diving in without their guardians stopping them. I promptly left this potentially dangerous area. Sure enough, a short while later, one boy hurt his toe while diving and was taken out of the pool by his mother, who then rode the same elevator as me. The hotel doesn't offer bellhop service, so I had to push my own luggage cart between the front desk and my room. Hana at the front desk was professional and a great conversationalist. The front desk manager, Ron, on the other hand, seemed to lack a smile; based on my observations over two days, he maintained the same expression throughout.

Perfect Base in Melbourne CBD – Great Location, Spotless Rooms & Stellar Service 📍 Location: Unbeatable & Transport-Friendly Ibis Styles Kingsgate is a gem for anyone wanting to explore Melbourne with ease. It’s strategically located within the CBD, just a quick 5-10 minute walk to Southern Cross Station – a massive plus if you’re arriving with luggage or planning day trips. The hotel sits right inside the Free Tram Zone, so hopping on a tram to explore the city costs nothing. Absolutely brilliant for budget-conscious travelers. 🛍️ Surrounded by Food & Shopping You’ll never go hungry or run out of things to do. The hotel is flanked by a wide array of both Western and Oriental restaurants, catering to every craving. Major shopping centres are also just a stone’s throw away, making it an ideal spot for retail therapy. 🙏 Exceptional Hospitality A special shout-out to the wonderful staff, whose warm hospitality truly elevated our stay. I’m incredibly grateful that they accommodated my early check-in – after a long journey, this thoughtful gesture meant the world and set a positive tone for the entire trip. 🛏️ Comfortable & Well-Equipped The room was spotlessly tidy and surprisingly well-appointed. Everything you could ask for was there, with all the essential amenities thoughtfully provided. It was a cozy, quiet, and comfortable retreat after busy days of sightseeing. Verdict: Highly recommended for solo travelers, couples, or business visitors looking for a clean, convenient, and friendly place to stay in the heart of Melbourne. Would definitely book again

We stayed here for two nights and three days. The main advantage of this location is its proximity to Queen Victoria Market. Unfortunately, we visited around Easter, and the market was only open on the Saturday in between. Luckily, we made it on that day; otherwise, staying here would have felt a bit pointless. Regarding the room: 1. Space and amenities (a) We booked a triple room with two beds (one double, one single). (b) The overall flow of the room felt a bit cramped, with a table, luggage rack, and wardrobe. (c) The fridge provided a complimentary bottle of milk daily, seemingly for coffee. You could request more if needed. 2. Bathroom facilities The bathroom was fairly standard, nothing particularly special. However, it did have a shower screen for wet/dry separation, which kept the bathroom fresh. 3. Downsides The single bed wasn't properly fixed; any movement or sitting on it would cause the entire bed to shift. Overall, the location is still great. On this trip, I booked three hotels in different parts of the Free Tram Zone. In this area (the northern part), you can find many Asian restaurants and supermarkets, as well as the market. Due to heavy rain during our stay, we didn't venture further north to Melbourne University. Near there, you'll find the Old Melbourne Gaol and Lygon Street (Little Italy), which has many Italian restaurants that I’d highly recommend. Regarding hotel service: While the hotel offered a buffet, we didn't purchase it and opted to eat out. A minor regret is that the service here was just average. As it's an Ibis, part of a large hotel group, the prices are relatively affordable, and they handle a high volume of guests daily. Consequently, the staff's attitude felt rather indifferent during check-in or when storing our luggage. That pretty much sums it up; I'll leave the rest for others to experience.

I had an unexpected allergy to cat dander at a friend's place during my trip to Melbourne, so I booked this hotel very last minute. To my surprise, the overall experience was much better than I expected. The hotel's location is right in the heart of Melbourne. Stepping out, you're immediately in Chinatown, surrounded by Asian supermarkets, a variety of Chinese restaurants, major domestic bubble tea brands, and even the city's largest department store with many famous brands. There's even an Arc'teryx store right across from the hotel, which was a pleasant surprise! Transportation is super convenient too. Just a short walk from the hotel, you'll find tram and bus stops. Since I booked it at a low price and found this hotel in a hurry, I initially thought I'd just make do, but it was genuinely a pleasant surprise. The hotel lobby's fragrance is on par with five-star hotels. The front desk even has a self check-in machine, which is quite convenient. You can also request an extra key card to keep the power on or for a companion. This was really great for an introvert like me! 😂 You need to swipe your card to access each floor, so safety is also good. The room isn't huge, but it's fair for the price. The cleanliness was also good; the toilet and bathroom were surprisingly spotless. The only minor drawback is that if you turn on the air conditioning at night, it can be noisy, and the soundproofing from the hallway isn't great either. Overall, the value for money is good. It's very suitable for those who don't demand perfect accommodation but prioritize convenient travel and easy access to Chinese food.

DDDDoDDDThe bed size in the room didn't match what was advertised. The website stated a 'deluxe king-size bed,' which should typically be 1.8m. However, as shown in the picture, it was actually a queen-size bed, approximately 1.5m. My large suitcase is 80cm, and at 1.77m tall, I was significantly taller than the bed's width. A manager named Nicolas told me that this is considered an Australian standard king-size. However, I study in Sydney and have a king-size bed at home, and all king-size beds sold in Australian furniture stores are 1.8m. I'm not sure which 'Australia' he was referring to. As an airport hotel, the soundproofing of the windows wasn't particularly good; I could still hear cars from downstairs. Despite this being a hotel issue, Trip.com was very patient and responsible in their coordination and communication. The front desk staff, Tarek, had an excellent service attitude and paid great attention to detail.

AAnonymous UserThe hotel is a bit old, but its location is a big plus – super convenient for shopping! The bed was comfy and soft, and the in-room facilities were well-equipped. No one offered to help with luggage, and the hotel has two entrances, but the staff didn't tell me which one was easier for catching a ride. When I came back by taxi, they didn't open the door for me, but when my friends dropped me off, they were very enthusiastic, opened the car door, and greeted us!

AAnonymous UserThe hotel's hygiene is excellent, and the lobby is spacious and bright. There are plenty of elevators, so even during peak hours, you don't wait long. The rooms are also spacious with beautiful window views; one side should offer a clear view of the river connecting the North and South banks, perfect for watching New Year's fireworks. Housekeeping is arranged from the third day of your stay, and they do a thorough and clean job. Overall, I'm very satisfied, although the location is a bit far from the CBD and Melbourne's main attractions. However, once you cross to the North Bank, you're not far from the tram free zone, which makes up for it. 👍👍👍

EeMGee_Good location. Just in front of the tram stop Russel Street on Bourke. There's a Thai & Japanese Restaurant downstairs as well. Front desk is extremely helpful & jolly. Bed is just right. Room is clean. There's a hair dryer, iron, safe, but no toothbrush, I didn't ask, but maybe it's upon request. The good thing about Citadines on Bourke is they have a full kitchen with plates & silverware. We didn't use it, but having a microwave is definitely a plus. They didn't clean daily, but maybe you can ask. But it wasn't an issue for us. We didn't need it anyway. Overall it was a good place to stay in Melbourne, we feel it's very central and near good places to be at.

GGuest UserThis is an older five-star hotel with decent service. Its location is similar to Tsim Sha Tsui East in Hong Kong – quiet, with many famous shops, bars, and Western restaurants nearby. However, you'll notice a lot of tourists around when you step outside. The breakfast is pretty good and acceptable, offering standard fare like bread, eggs, coffee, cheese, ham, and fruit – all the daily essentials. The main drawback is that the hotel is too close to the two adjacent buildings. There are very few rooms with a view; most rooms get little to no sunlight throughout the day and require the curtains to be drawn almost constantly. The bathroom is particularly bad. The shower screen only covers half the area, so water inevitably splashes all over the floor, making it a mess. This means you often have to use bath towels to dry the floor, leading to constantly wet carpets and very dirty towels in the long run.

GGuest UserIt would have been good except for the large western facing windows left without blinds down and an electrical setup that turns the air conditioning off when no one is in the room. So we arrived to stifling heat, and an air conditioner that doesn't really cool the bedrooms, and no fans or windows in the main bedroom. Most other things were good, but having a comfortable room is fundamental and the apartment just isn't set up for that. We enjoyed the location and the pool. We can't really speak to service levels cos we didn't ask for, expect or get any. It was a bit frustrating that the hotel only had a booking for 4 adults when we made a booking for 2A+3C on trip.com but who knows who was responsible for that.

MMunmunbunHad a great time here and we didn’t want to leave! How i wish i could’ve remembered all the names of the staff from reception, housekeeping and even the restaurant as they’ve all been amazing to us. Though, our request for a higher floor wasn’t accommodated ,they have been very attentive and i really appreciate their little surprise for my daughter’s birthday. We also had an incident and had to evacuate which scared my daughter but i’m glad no one is hurt and it was none of anyone’s control. One of the wheels of the bed frame was also missing and it almost caused an injury, the staff had offered to change rooms which is really nice of her but we’d just rather be willing to wait for the person that can fix it than cause more hassle to everyone if we changed room. Can’t wait to go back! Hopefully the hotel will be maintained well because its gorgeous!
