You can enjoy a great view of the dunes from the Stargazer Pavilion, whether it's for breakfast or afternoon tea.
The service attitude is excellent, with professional smiles and service awareness. The evening airport pickup service was also good.
The only minor drawback is that the room is a bit small, and the bathroom isn't very big either. However, it's just for sleeping, and we spent most of our time out exploring, so this flaw doesn't overshadow the overall experience.

This was my first time visiting Zhangye, and I chose this hotel mainly because it was relatively new and its location was decent. The room decor and amenities were generally good, but there were quite a few issues that I hope the staff can address and fix soon.
On the first day, as soon as I entered the room, I noticed a strong cigarette smell. Opening the window didn't help much, and the front desk informed me there were no other rooms available. They sent housekeeping to do a 'non-smoking' treatment, which essentially involved spraying some air freshener. Unfortunately, the smell returned in the evening, so I had to keep the window open until I went to bed. The next morning, it felt a bit better, but in the afternoon, I discovered a loud water gushing sound coming from the air conditioner pipe. It continued into the night and was so loud it affected my sleep. I had no choice but to switch rooms. The new room also had its own set of minor issues, like the hallway light turning off automatically after a minute or two, and poor in-room Wi-Fi signal. My phone wouldn't display the Wi-Fi icon unless I turned off cellular data. Both rooms also shared a common problem: the shower water temperature kept fluctuating between hot and cold, which was quite uncomfortable during my three-day stay.
Despite these issues, the hotel staff's service attitude was quite satisfactory. They were responsive, actively tried to resolve problems, and handled things competently. If the hardware issues can be improved, I would still recommend this hotel.
I traveled with my father and booked two double rooms, both near the road, which were a bit noisy. We arrived at the restaurant at 7:30 am, and it was packed with people. There were no seats, so we had to make do with a bowl of noodles and come back later. When we went back, we had to show our meal tickets. Luckily, there were two of us, so we had four meal tickets for the two double rooms, otherwise we wouldn't have been able to have breakfast. The TV was out of service. The hotel was very clean and well-maintained. Overall, I think this is the best hotel in Xiahe. If you want a more comfortable stay, this hotel is quite good. It's not far to walk to Labrang Monastery. Parking is free at the hotel, so you don't need to drive to the scenic area's parking lot. The price-performance ratio is quite good.
We stayed at the hotel in late 2025.3 Everything exceeded our expectations. When I book, it seems the location outside the city is a drawback of this hotel, which is compensated by a free pickup. But for a sightseeing trip in ZhangYe and with services the hotel has to offer, the location doesn't matter at all. Not to mention that the hotel's car+driver offer is quite competitive compared to what we have pre-booked. ###Room###: The room was spacious with comfortable beds and lots of amenities. WiFi speed is decent. There is also a public washing & drying machine, where the maid offered to wash our clothes. ###Restaurant###: The breakfast was plenty. The dinner offer a wide variety of local and standard dishes at an accpetable price. We got a free decent late night snack/dessert (with milk for children) delivered to the room at night. ###Staff###: The staff was very attentive. It started with the driver waiting at the train staion exit. Then we were greeted at the hotel by a staff with a good command of English. The staff has good knowledge of sightseeing spots in ZY. At dinner, the staffs made their best to help us understand the menu, patiently expained the food choices, as well as help estimate how much food we should order. (We are traveling with 2 children.) When we arrive back at the hotel in the evening, they enthusiasticly offered to help carry our stuffs. Tips are not expected nor accepted. If I have to comment, a moisturizing lotion and extra blankets in the room would help when the weather is cold. This hotel will definitely be my first choice if we ever come to Zhangye again.
We were the only guest at the hotel that night.
The boss was very nice, greeting and helping us to coordinate with our next hotel.
The hotel is easily walkable to the West Gate of Qicai Danxia with several restaurants and some local convenient shop nearby.
The room is very clean and spacious, the water is hot and strong.

We decided to stay in Wuwei at the last minute, so hotel brand wasn't an issue; Hilton was our first choice. We booked a Hilton in Lanzhou on the first day of our trip, and another in Zhangye on the second. We were originally planning to return directly on Friday, but due to heavy snow blocking the roads, we had to decide to stay in Wuwei for one night. After successfully booking, the receptionist, Xiao Xu, called immediately to check on us. We arrived at the hotel at 1:30 AM, and she was very kind to wait for us. Moreover, upon check-in, all three rooms were upgraded, which was great. The frustration of the snow-blocked roads was instantly swept away by the Hilton – fantastic! The room temperature was just right, and the bedding was very comfortable. All three rooms were on the same floor. The breakfast was excellent, with a wide variety of choices, and when I mentioned I wanted to take a coffee with me, a staff member proactively made it for me. Very thoughtful. I will definitely choose this Hilton again next time I'm in Wuwei.

I think, apart from the little hiccup with the dining, this hotel is highly recommendable in all other aspects. The booking included a hot pot set meal with beef shabu-shabu for dinner, which was probably worth around 300 RMB. The dining staff, however, definitely need to improve their service; they were too arrogant. I hadn't paid close attention to the menu before, specifically the discrepancy between the listed meat dishes and what was actually served. Since the hot pot seemed to have very few meat options, I ordered an 88 RMB plate of lamb dumplings, which was tiny, only 24 pieces? It was then that I thought to check the dishes, and I realized that the food served was inconsistent with what was listed in the order, and they hadn't even informed us (it was called a 'beef shabu-shabu hot pot,' but there was no beef shabu-shabu or yak meat duck feet that were supposed to be in the set meal). There was also no fruit platter and no juice. When we discovered this and asked the server, she said they just provide whatever is available in the restaurant at the time. She then offered to send us a plate of fruit, to which I replied that a fruit platter was included in the set meal. That's when the server dropped a classic line: ”What's listed on the menu isn't necessarily what we have to provide!” I asked, ”Then what's the point of having the set meal contents written in the agreement?” Finally, I asked her if she could take responsibility for what she was saying, and if she needed to consult her manager. Only after a lot of back and forth, and me fighting for my rights, did they finally appease us with a portion of lamb. Honestly, that 88 RMB dumpling dish was a rip-off, and the hot pot set meal being different was also a rip-off. The way they responded when I tried to claim my rights was also terrible. Luckily, I asked her if she could be held accountable for her words, which helped me salvage my legitimate rights. I think, apart from the dining incident, this hotel is highly recommendable in all other aspects.

I took so many great photos during my stay at this hotel; it's really photogenic! The hotel has so much character, and the ambiance is amazing. I highly recommend it!
**Service:** The service was excellent. The front desk staff were warm, professional, and went above and beyond. Knowing we were on a road trip, they specially recommended local delicacies, sightseeing routes, and even some hidden photo spots in Jiayuguan. They also suggested a few hidden gem snack shops popular with locals – so thoughtful! Any requests we had during our stay were promptly met by the staff, who were always polite and never perfunctory. It really made us feel well taken care of.
**Environment:** The room had fantastic natural light, and the bedding was so comfortable I didn't want to get out of bed. The front desk mentioned the mattress was imported. At night, we could even watch the stars and moon from the room and took some pictures. The location is also excellent, super close to the food street, making it convenient for exploring and dining. It's also a short drive to the Jiayuguan scenic area.
Stayed with the baby for one night, the experience was full! The hotel's facilities are very intimate, children's slippers and toiletries are prepared for the children, the bed is very soft and comfortable, and the children sleep well all night. The location is also suitable for families, there are parks and shopping malls nearby, and there is no worry about walking the baby. The staff is very gentle to the children, the whole service is very intimate, the price is super high, the first choice for parent-child travel!

GGuest UserWe were four friends living together. The whole room was very spacious, the decoration style was very nice, and there was a small balcony outside. It was also relatively quiet when sleeping. The service attitude was also great. The boss lady was very nice and made us coffee. The breakfast variety was also very rich. There were also many apricots in the yard. The boss lady picked a lot for us. They were delicious and we ate a lot. When we left, we went to eat, so we called a car ourselves. As a result, the driver of the car we called had a very bad attitude. The boss lady immediately called a brother to take us to the place where we ate, which provided us with full emotional value. It was great~!

GGuest UserWhen traveling to Dunhuang, I wanted to book a quiet hotel and chose this hotel. The result was unexpectedly good. Not only was it quiet, but the environment was also very good and very cultural. The preface to the Lanting Collection was carved on the wall of the lobby. I heard it was written by the boss. . The service was also very friendly. Check-in was quick, they answered all our questions and sent us to the room. The room is also very warm, the facilities are new and complete, and there is a humidifier. It is really good to have a humidifier in Northwest China. The bathtub also comes with a disposable bathtub cover, so you can take a bath with confidence. I came back very late from my trip to the Western Front. I asked for two extra pairs of slippers, which were delivered quickly. Good hotel, good service!
GGuest UserWe were not impressed, especially for the price. We've stayed at hotels that are similarly priced and expected much better.
To be fair, the hotel itself is beautiful. The architecture, the room interiors, and the breakfast and drinks to get were all very nice.
However, the problems started at arrival. We were told the afternoon tea was cancelled and the restaurant was fully booked because of an event. No one told us this in advance, which was very disappointing.
The check-in was disorganized. The receptionist (who was also the manager) turned away to help someone else while I was still talking to her. She didn't give us our room keys, saying the bell boy would open the door. But when we got to the room, the bell boy had to walk all the way back to get the keys. The bell boys were actually very friendly and helpful—the only good part.
To make things stranger, the female manager called me a few hours after we checked out. She asked how the event affected our stay. I was busy and rushing around, and the call worried me—I thought I had left something behind. Asking for our opinion after we left was too late. They should have asked us during our stay, or better yet, informed us before we even arrived.
So, while the place is beautiful, the poor communication and service ruined the experience. We wouldn't stay here again for the price.

DDawson LottHonestly the service at this hotel is what made the trip! The brothers that own the place are extremely friendly and helped drive us around to everything from the sights to their food recommendations that were all delicious. Not to mention beer, fruit and other drinks are all included at the hotel free of charge! It’s also walking distance to the oasis. To any foreigner wanting to travel here, these guys make it so easy and stress free, it’s worth it for them, plus there’s a place to swim amongst the heat and great air conditioning. You can see the dunes from the roof of the hotel too, where there’s tables and chairs to relax for a drink. Would come again in a heart beat.

GGuest UserGreat atmosphere. The tent/bedding was much cleaner than expected despite being in the middle of desert . The heater works well. The owner took his time to take great care of us (noted that we didn’t go during high-season); very service-minded. He took us to/from airports and different tourist spots. Also provided us with many additional activities (not excluded in the initial program of camel riding) such as ATV riding, sand hill sliding, firework. The hotpot/grill dinner was delicious! Overall we were very impressed with everything.

GGuest UserThe room has Tibetan-style wooden walls. The price is quite reasonable. In order to go to Labrang Monastery, I found many triple rooms. Some hotels with triple rooms nearby have public bathrooms. The heating in the room is very good. It is very warm to stay in winter. I forgot to take pictures of the hotel. The location is also easy to find
Aangel422For our first night in Dunhuang, we definitely opted for a desert stay (Dunhuang Shazhou Wild Luxury Camp Hotel). For the second night, however, we needed something a little less rugged. Staying in the desert means sand everywhere, constantly – on your head, on your face, even packed into your ears! But the kids absolutely loved playing in the sand; they could spend the entire day there, even under the blazing sun. Be sure to apply plenty of sun protection; the desert sun is incredibly intense. Guesthouses are better than regular star hotels because star hotels have high foot traffic, and it's important to be mindful of protection against common illnesses like flu and respiratory infections. So, we completely skipped the Huaxia, Guoji, Tianhe, and Shazhou hotels in the city center. If your budget is tight, the Mumei Kachi Desert Camping Base is also a viable option, though it's not actually at Mingsha Mountain. If you're staying a third day in Dunhuang, you might consider some of the larger, standard hotels in the city center that have swimming pools. Also, the Sheraton in the city center is a stripped-down Four Points by Sheraton, and it doesn't have a pool.
