"Very satisfied with the stay experience! Location: Very close to Kamogawa River and Kyoto Imperial Palace. You can enjoy the scenic spots on foot. However, there are less delicious food in the surrounding area because it is not in a bustling area, but it is only a few kilometers away from the downtown area. Environment: Very stylish, renovated old wooden house. I live in the largest room No. 1. If possible, I will definitely choose this room. It is larger than the others. There is a shoe-changing porch on the first floor. The living area is on the second floor. The balcony can be directly accessed. See the Japanese garden. I have to praise the courtyard, it is very beautiful and it is very comfortable to sit in the courtyard and have a drink. The room is very big. I love the wooden bathtub with a view and the Japanese-style living room. I feel like it's a waste to stay here. Service: The service attitude is great, but remember not to bring children under 12 years old‼ ️This is not obvious on the hotel reservation page. My friend brought his seven-year-old child. Fortunately, there was a Chinese-speaking front desk person who helped contact the manager to accommodate. We can check in, but the children cannot go to the restaurant area downstairs. Speaking of restaurants, my favorite is from the afternoon to 10pm, so! have! liquor! water! waived! fee! Are you really not afraid of an alcoholic like me? The only drawbacks are: the sound insulation is a bit poor, and the sounds from the street in the morning can be heard very clearly. Furthermore, the door frames are generally very low, and anyone over 1.7 meters tall may bump their heads. I bumped them twice a day on average. But don’t blame the hotel, that’s what Japanese architecture is. Will come again!"

"The room is quite large, two floors up and down, belonging to the townhouse, facilities are all available. The reception was very professional, and also introduced us how to play and helped us search for bus shifts. The only downside is that the living room does not know whether it is medicine or something, a taste. Everything else is fine."

Hotel near Higashiyama,Kyoto
Nestled in the Higashiyama area, where Kyoto’s history and charm come alive, this entire-house rental is a 2LDK Kyoto machiya. While carefully preserving the beautiful architectural details unique to machiya—such as lattice doors and exposed beams—the space provides a comfortable environment tailored to modern lifestyles. The living room, which overlooks a tsubo-niwa garden, and the serene Japanese-style room exude a sense of comfort where tradition and modernity harmonize. A private sauna—an extremely rare feature in wooden machiya—is featured in the garden. Enveloped in the gentle steam produced by the Estonian “HUUM” stove, you can sweat it out to your heart’s content. After your sauna session, enjoy a quiet moment of relaxation while gazing out at the tsubo-niwa garden, reminiscent of a sophisticated adult’s hideaway. Kyoto’s most iconic attractions—including the World Heritage Site Kiyomizu-dera Temple, as well as Ninenzaka, Sannenzaka, are all within walking distance. One of the unique charms of this location is the ability to experience the temple grounds in the early morning, when there are few tourists, or the historic streets bathed in the glow of twilight, as if you were simply taking a stroll around the neighborhood. Perfect not only for trips with family and friends but also for anniversaries and special stays. Savor a unique experience found only here, where Kyoto’s traditional beauty intertwines with a sauna experience that soothes both body and mind.

**5-Star Review of Kyoto Homestay** Our recent stay at this charming homestay in Kyoto was nothing short of magical! Located just a 10-minute taxi ride from Kyoto Station, it offered the perfect blend of convenience and tranquility. The host was incredibly welcoming, making us feel right at home. The highlight was the traditional hotpot dinner, prepared with fresh, local ingredients. It was a delightful experience to enjoy such a unique meal in a cozy setting. The rooms were spacious and beautifully decorated, reflecting the rich culture of Kyoto. We loved the serene garden view from our window. Overall, this homestay exceeded our expectations and provided a memorable Kyoto experience. Highly recommended!

What a beautiful place! Kiraku Kyoto Honmachi is a house which has been refurbished with subtle taste and delightful creativity. There’s definitely magic to it! I loved walking on the pebbles in the downstairs bedroom - so soothing for sore feet. There’s also a smooth walkway to the bed if pebbles aren’t your thing. Upstairs there’s a tokonoma with scroll, as well as a full set of equipment for carrying out a tea ceremony, including of course, matcha. The host even had delicious matcha “financiers” waiting for us upon arrival. The outdoor bath is brilliant. It’s quite easy to fill and I’d highly recommend having an outdoor soak every night. Seeing as some in our group weren’t up for tourism in the city, it was doubly worthwhile to have stayed in such a house where they could breathe in Kyoto atmosphere without ever moving from the tatami!

Highly recommended for getting authentic and unique experience of staying at the Japanese house. Great location, near to Shoji Dori, a huge shopping street, a short bus ride to Gion and metro station allowing to get to all historical attractions. The home is really nice, with all necessary amenities, clean and roomy. Want to specifically mention its interior decorations, really awesome. Tourist tip: print out your reservation with the home’s address in Japanese to avoid any difficulties with finding your way to the location, you show it to the taxi drivers and they will find the place. And special thanks to the Team: you are so helpful and friendly!

It is a temporary but nice and spacious home in Kyodo. It is located in a very quiet neighbourhood, and the facilities are very good. The beddings on the tatami floor are so good that I slept like a baby for all three nights. The only inconvenience is that there’s no cleaning service for my three-night stay, making the trash bins a bit messy! But all in all, it is super great experience to stay in this lovely Japanese old house, with all the modern convinience such as floor heating, for a Kyodo holiday.

If you check in, you need to go to Bell Kyoto Station. After check in, there will be a staff member to send you to the room. You can also store your luggage for free.

Newly renovated when we stayed back in May, the place is very much in the neighborhood but directly accessible to the kamo river. It was a bit out from the city area, luckily the host provided two bikes but it was so inconvenient to park the bike! Overall we are happy with the stay!
