Nilv Flower Time International Youth Hostel

Jianshui Ancient Town
The hostel is well-located, providing access to many locales, but parts of the building may suffer from noise, including from the street. All areas are mostly clean, though the bathroom has some water pooling issues, and the kitchen has moldy spots - but it remains acceptable. Facilities are decent, and include common rooms, affordable bikes, cute pets, a study room, snacks for guests, and more. Some common areas occasionally get crowded by items or people sleeping, and some people may bellow to each other across the first floor. The public WC are only on the first floor, so night usage may be hard, but the room price is good. The staff includes friendly and helpful people, but some other persons are rude. They may refuse to greet or even look at a guest. They didn't say hi when I came and when I left I said goodbye but was ignored. Surprisingly for a place labeled as an ”international youth hostel”, international guests may feel unwelcome, even if the guests try to make friends with others in common spaces. Some staff gossip about a guest, and along with a few cowardly domestic tourists, make xenophobic remarks, when they think the guest is not listening. This hostel is the first one where I experienced such racist disrespect. But, I tolerated it. They constantly address the guest as ”foreigner”, as a given name - never wondering how the guest would like to be addressed. Further, valid inquiries from guests are seen as nuisances, rather than as the responsibility of managers or staff to address. They think the guest should keep the manager comfortable, and maybe even address the manager's concerns! LOL. I believe the 5 star reviews by international guests are mostly those who stayed a short time, or who could not understand Chinese. I have 15 years of pretty good references from travelers, guests, and hosts, so my opinion is not uninformed. I would advise international guests to limit their interactions here, as there would not be a just outcome for a ”foreigner”, if an altercation were to occur. Finally, while security cameras are normal in hotels for safety, here they seem to be used to monitor guests in the public, common, areas. This is not done maliciously -- but it is unsettling, and highlights a lack of communicative and organizational skills.
Dongli Xiaozhu Youth Hostel

Railway Station Area
Location was great that it was a walk away from the Kunming Railway Station where I needed to be to leave the city. I liked how it was near a lot of food places! The volunteer Evens was an interesting person to talk to when I learned about his background in what he does as an occupation and where he is originally from in China. The owner Winni was a nice person as well and I appreciated and enjoy her and some of the other guests that cooked for us the night that we had a big dinner. Thank you for being part of the chef crew Winni. Everybody who stayed at the place was respectful and considered towards one another in the way that they conducted themselves. Was able to go along with the rules of this hostel because it fit my daily habits. Nobody had any habits that bothered me. Not really into the hostel type of stays, due to lack of privacy. Was just happy to stay at this place since it was pretty much right at the doorstep of the Kunming Railway station where I can catch my train on time where I wouldn't end up getting lost in the city which in turn would end up missing it. The only negative thing that I didn't like was that the bathroom did not have bath towels and just regular hand towels where I would not be able to dry myself very well after showering. Because of this I didn't want to take a shower at this place and the fact that these towels were used repeatedly from other guests, which made me feel uncomfortable wanting to use it. Would come back to this Hostel again if I happen to have to come back to Kunming again where I needed to be near this train station to catch at train there.

Binhai Avenue
Since it was a temporary decision to go to Dali, I hurriedly chose a hotel by feeling, and decided to renew the lease immediately after arriving! The price/performance ratio is very high, better than the more than 800 we ordered in Banna Transportation: The boss came to pick him up in person, the boss is very considerate and gentlemanly Hygiene: very clean, and the hygiene of dead corners is also in place Environment: You can see the beauty of Erhai Lake, which cannot be captured by cameras and mobile phones. It is recommended to come and experience it in person. I am very happy that I booked such a favorite hotel when I came to Dali for the first time. I will continue to stay here next time I come to Dali.
KUN MING UPLAND INTERNATIONAL YOUTH HOSTEL
4.5/51335 Reviews
Cuihu District
I had a good stay. The hostel is generally clean. Some of the staff speak very little english. They help me carry my luggage during checkin to the elevator. The breakfast is great. The have restaurant with nice food. Amazing view from rooftop. They provide self laundry service including dryer (with payment alipay or wechat). Hairdryer available. Slippers are provided. Shower cream & shampoo available. If you traveling from kunming railway station you can order Didi (uber/grab in China) or taxi if you want relax ride. Put the address: 92 huashan west road. Or by metro. From the station entrance/ exit, there’s metro line 1, you have to transfer to line 2, then line 3 and last one line 5. Line 5 exit is just a walking distance from the hostel. Google map is working fine for me. Walking distance to green lake park (cuihu park) and the ancient city.

Gucheng
Would recommend Hosting Friendly and smiley. Took up bags without asking. Answer questions over wechat. Even the other guests were friendly! Usually Chinese visitors don't really speak to me (which is fine of course), but the girls I shared a room with even asked me to dinner with them and shared food Location The pictures they have down for the exterior, it's actually to the left of that. walking distance to the ancient village and chongsheng temple. easy trips to the lake. Amenities Fridge, washing machine, hair dryer, shoe dryer, toiletries, kitchen area etc. all included. There's like a communal courtyard area as well and I believe you can eat there too but you need to book it the day before by a certain time. Bathroom Sit down toilet. Shower. Toiletries. Looks a bit shabby at first glance but the shower toilet and sink are all working and very clean Room Lovely thick mattress (I've found they are usually quite thin in Chinese hostels so this was a nice surprise). Heater if needed. I'm not entirely sure how the lock on the door is supposed to be done. Overall great atmosphere. The pictures look a little bit rough around the edges but its honestly fine and i think I could stay here a while

Tiger Leaping Gorge
A nice large room with windows on two sides, a full on view of the mountains! The bed with pillow top mattress was v comfortable. The restaurant food offered a wide variety of dishes of good quality and modest price. Staff were friendly and helpful and the receptionist checked to make sure we had purchased a bus ticket for our departure to Lijiang on the morning of our departure. We would recommend Tina’s to other travellers
Jinghong Taidou Youth Hostel

Jinghong Bus Station
I came to Taidou again. It is near the state government and Peacock Lake Park. There are farmers' markets, large shopping malls, libraries, middle schools, police stations and armed forces nearby. It is very safe! I really like this cozy and leisurely courtyard. The balcony on the second floor is very comfortable to bask in the sun. The blue sky and white clouds make me feel relaxed and happy. It is very suitable for i people to stay and stay healthy.
Kunming A Little Problem Youth Hostel

Downtown Commercial Area
Definitely one of the best hostels I’ve stayed in!! Everything was really clean, the views are beautiful, and it’s right in the center of Kunming so close to loads of transport options. The owner also goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome, he even lent me his phone when I needed help on my first day?? The social area is really nice too, and you’ll often find the owner and other guests spending time there. So I really recommend this hostel for solo travellers hoping to meet new people! I’ll definitely be back if I stay in Kunming again!!
Hanshe Inn (Xishuang Banna Starlight Night Market)

Gaozhuang Xishuangjing
Excellent little hotel. Owners were very helpful and found us a local driver to take us on day trips. Pool was also great to use after a long day touring. Superb location, steps down directly to bridge for access to the floating market or just walk right for 2 mins to reach the temple and night market. The village area its set in is amazing. Very cute roads all around filled with lots of amazing restaurants and coffee shops. Room was spotlessly clean, 2 big balconies overlooking the pool. Stayed with my family of 5 and we all loved this place. Oh, huge beds and really comfortable too- can sleep 3 kids to a bed easily. Pics show the street just outside down the stairs and view from balcony

Shuhe Old Town
It was a bit tricky to find when you’re only looking at the map, since it is not the corner building but a bit down the road where the street art is. But a very nice and big space with lots of lounge options. Bedrooms were quite nice too. I would have loved to stay a bit longer!
