Founder of Osaka Stock Exchange
Godai Tomoatsu made a considerable contribution to economic development of Osaka. He is also one of the founders of Osaka Stock Exchange. That is why his statue stands here.
It is located in front of the front entrance of the Osaka Stock Exchange Building, just in front of Kitahama Station. It is a statue of Do 々, who has made a great contribution to the Japanese economy and seems to be a feudal retainer of the Satsuma domain. There is an inscription nearby, but honestly, it was a pity that it was difficult to read.
In Kitahama, there are two statues of "Go Otomo Atsushi" by Shinya Nakamura, and we recommend that you compare them.

2020/3/3 (Tuesday) At the foot of Namba Bridge, there is a magnificent statue of Tomoatsu Godai in front of the Osaka Stock Exchange. It is a relatively new statue because it was built when the new building of the Osaka Stock Exchange was completed in 2004. Koyo Securities, just a few tens of meters west of the Nanba Bridge, also has a statue of Tomoatsu Godai sitting in a chair.
2004 It is a statue of Tomoatsu Godai, who became the founder of the Osaka Stock Exchange in 2004. It was erected in 2004. I saw the statue of Tomoatsu Godai in Kagoshima, but the statue here is as large as 7.6 meters high, and the appearance of Western-style 々 is impressive. It is said to have been made by Shinya Nakamura, a cultural meriter.
