My biggest mistake of this trip to Yamagata is to book this hotel. It's a good hotel but it's in the middle of nowhere. You will want to stay around the city of Yamagata province which is also called Yamagata city just so you can get to famous tourist spots. However this is 4 hours away from all of these. I had to book another hotel so I can stay 1 day in the city when I wanted to visit these places and the traveling time just completely made me exhausted. It took like 1 day to go to a place and 1 day to go back. It was so terrible, I was crying. This place is closed to Shonai airport not Yamagata airport so I also had to book another flight from Shonai. I wasted so much money for transportation. It was such a terrible experience.
However the hotel is incredibly beautiful with smart design in everything. I loved the onsen very much. If it was just a vacation/restcation for relaxing purpose or isolate yourself from the human word, it's the best choice for you. Since its in the middle of the endless rice field, there is nothing to eat except for paying very high price to eat at the hotel's restaurant. And the food was just okay.
The beauty of this hotel was like a trap. Its like I was blind from its beauty and couldn't see all other disavantages.
I think this hotel is in a great location and offers excellent service. However, it's a 20-30 minute walk from Yamagata Station, so if walking is too much for you, I recommend taking a taxi.
It's a short walk if you stroll around town while sightseeing, so don't worry about that.
Also, there's a hot spring on the first floor, but it's open until midnight, so if you want to take a night bath, there's a slight chance you might miss it depending on what time you get home. Of course, there's a regular shower room and bathtub in the room, so you can wash up there.
In addition, the morning bath is open from 6am to 10am, so it's no problem to take a leisurely bath. With a hot spring, this was a great hotel that I'd like to return to. There's also a Lawson on the first floor, so you can buy something to eat and relax in your room.
Sehr ruhiges Umfeld, 10min vom Bahnhof.
This is a very nice hotel. Loved every corner of it. A bit old. But the service and location makes it a nice place to stay. Near shinjo station by bus 20 minutes. It’s a good place to stay if you are going to ginzan onsen. They have shuttle bus to shinjo station from the hotel. They have izakaya inside of the hotel. Staff is great and helpful. We totally recommend it to stay. Awesome views
Good location, clean and nice peaceful hotel. Connected with S mall and has bus station outside. Close to Tsuruoka station by foot. The onsen or hot bath was okay, bit outdated. The outside hot bath was closed and dry sauna was warm. Breakfast waa good.
The hotel covers a large area, has many guest rooms, and has its own free parking lot with plenty of parking spaces. The annex building where I stayed has a slightly worse environment than other places, but overall it was pretty good. Breakfast was 1210 per person. There are many places to eat nearby, including a conveyor belt sushi restaurant that is pretty good, and many people lined up.
Superb! The facilities are excellent, service is great, and the location is very convenient. The hot spring is incredibly relaxing.
I didn't expect a hot spring hotel not located in the mountains to be this good. The food quality is also good, and very filling.
The only downside is that they keep your shoes in the lobby, so you have to ask them to retrieve them every time you go in or out. It's best not to go in and out too frequently.
it’s a very good vital and very friendly to families especially to little kids! very nice dinner and traditional japanese breakfast! really a special experience with my family
The room I booked was a single-bed room without a bathroom. It was a Japanese-style tatami room with a bed and table converted into a wheelchair-friendly room. The price was relatively cheap. There is no problem if you use it as a budget hotel room, but if you want to experience a hot spring hotel, it is recommended to choose a Japanese-style tatami room.

Very Good
Very good value for money. A modern Japanese hotel with large rooms. Views from the hotel are amazing and the Onsen was hot and clean. Staff very professional and friendly.
Good location in Zao ski village - just opposite the bus terminal. Friendly and helpful staff, though speak very little English. We chose breakfast and dinner, pre-select from the menu. Both breakfast and dinner are delicious! Free transport is provided to ski lifts hourly. We have tatami room for 3 persons, quite spacious and great view from the window! Very warm and comfortable place to spend for few days.
It’s easier to get here with a car although there is a local train station. The hotel is good for families. The Onsen is very nice as it has the outdoor view.
The hotel is relatively old-fashioned, so you have to insert the key to have electricity. This is the first time I have seen it. The space is very enough. When I take a shower, it takes a long time to turn on the hot water. However, the room price is very low, so I don’t ask for much. There is a parking lot next to it for 750 yen. Park for one night.
Wwenhsin hsuit’s a very good vital and very friendly to families especially to little kids! very nice dinner and traditional japanese breakfast! really a special experience with my family
The hotel provides free fruit, snacks, and mineral water. The room is well soundproofed, so I couldn't even hear the chickens downstairs. The receptionist was very helpful in recommending good food.
Super amazing location and hospitality. Our stay at this landmark spot was made even more comfortable and memorable by the amazing food and staff at Ginzanso!!
