We had such a great time this year for Semana Grande. And the Axel Hotel was in the perfect location for us. Right on the river next to a great spot for drinks and food. The rooftop pool is also a great spot to watch the fireworks! The staff was so helpful and friendly. And although we didn't need housekeeping while we were staying there they offered every day to clean our room or swap out towels or necessities for us. What a great experience. We will definitely be back!
It's a 15 minute walk from Kikutetsu station and bus terminal, and a 5 minute walk from the city center private railway station. There is a large supermarket nearby. There are many restaurants nearby, including one that serves Basque-style Japanese cuisine (the owner chef is Japanese).
The hotel is stylish and clean. The only drawback is that the elevator doesn't come easily. Internet speed is ok.
I thought the sauna was included in our stay that’s why I booked the hotel.
When I’ve mentioned it to the staff about not having an additional cost to it when you book online, they told me is part of the spa . This is very confusing as if it was part of the spa why mentioning it and not including it in the spa section .
Spa and sauna are not the same and if it’s a cost to it , that should be mentioned.
Anything else was amazing . Also they don’t have a separate cost to the sauna only ! I just wanted to use the gym and the sauna , no spa though! There was no possibility to book the sauna without the spa.
It’s like 20 euros per acces not per day which I thought it’s a rip off especially when you are already booked with the hotel and you’ve paid for your room! Again staff showed no flexibility , it was either pay for something you won’t use or you don’t get it!
Ended up not booking it because I did not want to use the spa , and I thought it was a lot of money (20 euros) to pay for 15 min use of sauna only.
This is a lovely hotel with very high standards. I would have rated it excellent, but one lady at reception, I don’t know her name, she’s young, tall and wears glasses, she was not at all friendly or helpful on various occasions we spoke with her. The rest of staff we met were very nice.
Hygienic: very clean, equipped with a toilet
Facilities: very new, with minibar and desk, convenient, large space
Environment: equipped with parking lot and restaurant, rich breakfast, afternoon tea in the afternoon, convenient eating; the road and the mountain outside the window, very beautiful
I booked this hotel because it was in a quiet location , the room had double glazed windows that allowed me to sleep soundly for more than 8 hours each night and I could reach the city easily by taking the bus.
FYI the taxi fares from and to the San Sebastian airport was 90€ in total, which the hotel has no say on or any other hotels for that matter.
The hotel is super luxurious, the location is great, the hotel is very new, the room is large, the facilities are complete, the service is superb, the breakfast is great, in short, it is a superb travel experience
When booking, I specially found a relatively new hotel. The subway is downstairs. The male compatriots are three subway stops to the St. Mame Stadium to watch the ball. Across the road is the British Palace Shopping Mall. It takes 10 minutes to walk to the old town. It is very convenient. The hotel does not have a parking lot, and the public parking lot takes more than 10 minutes. There are many restaurants and cafes around, and it is super convenient to eat.

MMatthewPerfect location in the middle of the town and right by the clock with the dancing figures. Lovely bodega bar downstairs. Rooms are spacious and comfortable.
