I've stayed at The Langham multiple times, and it's always perfect for business trips. The room has great natural light, and the mattress is very comfortable. Butler Mindy was incredibly attentive throughout my stay, always efficient, and promptly brought anything I needed to my room 👍. The surrounding commercial area is well-developed, and both the facilities and service are top-notch, offering excellent value for money 👍. Whether for work or leisure, the experience is always super comfortable and worth returning to again and again. I'll definitely choose The Langham Hefei for my next visit.

I highly recommend this place. The hygiene is up to par, the cleaning staff did a great job, and it's quite friendly for families with children. It's also very convenient for hiking. [Hassle-free transfer] Free pick-up and drop-off service at Huangshan South Gate transfer point. Hygiene: Pretty good. We came with a child, and they even provided kids' toiletries, which was a nice touch. Environment: The hotel environment is also good, and the beds are clean. Most importantly, it's close to the Huangshan scenic area. The free hotel shuttle makes it easy to get up the mountain, which is very convenient. There are many convenience stores and restaurants nearby. Drawbacks: Their own restaurant was a bit slow in serving food, and the breakfast selection was just average. Overall, I still highly recommend it. We had a comfortable stay, and it's very family-friendly. The hotel's operations are quite extensive, and the owner is very hospitable. After our hike, he even enthusiastically recommended massage services.

Located on the back mountain, the room wasn't huge, but the service was excellent – they were very responsive to all our requests. We had both the lunch buffet and breakfast, and the food was good. The sunrise and sea of clouds probably aren't as impressive as from Bright Summit. Unfortunately, due to heavy fog this time, we couldn't see anything. There was an evening performance. Huangshan is incredibly tough to climb; it's constant ups and downs over mountains and ridges, leaving my legs aching. The West Sea monorail only offered standing tickets. Taking the Yuping cable car up is the classic route, passing by the Greeting Pine, Hundred-Step Cloud Ladder, and either Aoyu Cave or One-Line-Sky to reach Aoyu Peak, then continuing to Bright Summit. For someone nearing fifty, just looking at the route feels challenging. The weather in Huangshan changes rapidly; one moment it was clear blue skies, and the next, dense fog rolled in.

The service was absolutely 5-star. Since my main purpose was photography, I received excellent advice from resident teacher Yao on the best timing and spots. Teacher Yao, who lives on the mountaintop, is more accurate than the weather forecast when it comes to predicting sea of clouds and sunrises. We stayed on the mountain for two days, and the forecast was for heavy rain or downpours. However, during the few brief clear intervals, we witnessed the spectacular 'Monkey Gazing at the Sea' sunrise, the vastness of the West Sea's sea of clouds, and the majestic panorama from Bright Summit.

Before checking into Banyan Tree Huangshan, my expectations were really high, but I ended up quite disappointed. Let me start with the positives: 1. The breakfast was delicious with a good variety of options, quite decent for a star-rated hotel. The fresh juices were squeezed on demand, and the fruit quality was excellent. Most importantly, the staff were very efficient at clearing tables and setting up, so there was never any waiting for a seat, everyone could get seated promptly. 2. The service throughout our stay was fantastic. Everyone was very attentive and patiently listened to guest feedback and suggestions, making adjustments proactively. The downsides, however, were quite noticeable: 1. The hardware is terrible and doesn't match the price point at all. The air conditioning in the room was very noisy and just barely passable. The bathroom was particularly bad; I've never encountered such poor bathroom facilities, especially not in a five-star hotel. The shower pressure was very weak, and so was the water flow from the bathtub faucet. The toilet height was incredibly uncomfortable; even for someone of my 175cm height, it was awkward to use. Plus, the quality was poor, and due to the bad glaze, flushing was a hassle. The central air conditioning in the lobby was practically useless. Walking into the hotel lobby, it felt only a few degrees cooler than outside. We didn't want to spend any time in the public areas; with outdoor temperatures at 37 degrees Celsius, the heat in the lobby was unbearable. 2. The hotel's main selling point is its 'getaway' style, and while the environment is indeed deep in a valley, quiet and secluded, it lacks the simple recreational facilities that would make guests want to stay. I went to the pool table three times and couldn't play because there was always a queue. Besides that, there weren't many other good leisure activities. For example, the coffee and tea area wasn't appealing because the public area AC was too high, making it uncomfortable, and the cafe environment itself didn't match the price of the hotel, falling far short of many five-star hotels in scenic areas. Although the hotel advertised iron-flower performances, they were only on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, and we perfectly missed them during our two-day stay. In summary, the hotel's promotional pictures are very attractive, but the reality is quite different. If you're just looking for a secluded getaway, it can meet that need. For everything else, there's a lot of room for improvement.

The hotel lobby is grand and it's located near the administrative center, surrounded by many shopping malls like Impression City and Intime. Getting to the old city by taxi is also convenient. Although the hotel is a bit older, the room facilities are very well-maintained. The executive room I stayed in offered excellent value for money; it was spacious and had a view of Swan Lake. The executive lounge offers afternoon tea and a buffet dinner. The hotel staff are incredibly welcoming; a staff member even personally delivered my takeout order to my room. I felt right at home and it's definitely worth staying here again.

## A Relaxed 2-Day Huangshan Itinerary with a 6-Year-Old This time, I took my child to Mount Huangshan and chose to stay at the newly renovated Beihai Hotel on the mountaintop, which far exceeded my expectations. The hotel reopened after renovation in 2025, and the rooms are equipped with a coffee machine, Bose sound system, calf massager, and smart toilet. A calf massage after hiking was a lifesaver! The room also provides down jackets and flashlights, so you won't freeze watching the sunrise. Upon returning to the hotel, you can enjoy the complimentary Hanfu photo experience or afternoon tea. If you still have energy, you can continue: Hotel → Pen Holder Peak → Umbrella Pine → Black Tiger Pine → Shixin Peak. Shixin Peak is an excellent spot to see unique pines, with a round trip of about 1.5 hours. In the evening, after the hotel buffet (198 yuan/person), you can try making incense seals and interacting with NPCs in the lobby for small gifts, which the kids loved. *Reminder*: The hotel organizes guided trips to Shixin Peak for sunset daily (around 6:30 PM, depending on sunset time). Our long-awaited family trip to Huangshan finally happened! After finishing up work, I immediately booked our bullet train tickets. We only settled on this hotel a couple of days before we left. When I was browsing hotel pages, its exterior immediately caught my eye. As someone who appreciates beautiful surroundings, I was delighted to find that the actual hotel looked exactly like the pictures – the overall design is really pleasing to the eye. The hotel has a uniquely shaped large swimming pool, which is a big bonus for families. My child couldn't wait to jump in and play as soon as we arrived. The hotel is also very close to Tunxi Old Street, and there are plenty of restaurant choices nearby. We tried a lot of local specialties; the 'Smelly Mandarin Fish' had a unique aroma and tasted incredibly fresh and delicious, and the Huangshan sesame cakes were crispy and flavorful. We even packed a lot of them to take home. The staff were all very warm and helpful. When we checked out, they even gave us some pine cones from the mountains as a gift. My little one has been keeping them carefully as a fun souvenir. The whole trip was pleasant and relaxing, leaving us with some wonderful memories.

If you're coming to Huangshan, I think it's really worth staying on the mountain. The rooms are indeed a bit small, and it can be a bit humid up there, but seeing the starry sky at night and the sunrise in the morning really adds so much to the trip. As for the food, don't compare it to five-star hotels. Seeing those porters work so hard carrying supplies up and down, I feel like paying a bit more is totally justified. 😂 Plus, I think they did a great job given the limited conditions. The hotel staff even put on a show in the evening, which the kids absolutely loved. Highly recommend overall.
