The hotel has a great location, very close to JR Kyoto Station, and is popular with tour groups, so the elevators are busy most of the time. We were assigned a room on the 7th floor near the elevator. Unfortunately, the room above us was extremely noisy, with loud footsteps and constant jumping—likely from a family with young children. We reported the issue to the reception, and the staff said they would check on it. The noise stopped temporarily, but it did not go away completely. We had to endure the disturbance for two nights. Considering the high price we paid during peak season, this was definitely not worth the money. The hotel did not make any real effort to assist us—no room change or alternative solution was offered, even though we followed up again both in person and by email. Because of this experience, we would choose a different hotel next time. Additionally, there were Post-it notes stuck on the air vent and the smoke detector in our room, which was quite strange and unclear why they were there. There were also very few power outlets, and the hotel lacked basic facilities such as a vending machine or a laundromat. Overall, I would recommend staying at one of the newer hotels nearby instead.

I had a great stay at Agora Kyoto Karasuma. The hotel has a calm, elegant atmosphere, and the rooms are thoughtfully designed with a minimalist Japanese style that feels both modern and cozy. The location is perfect, close to transportation, shops, and great local restaurants, which made getting around Kyoto very convenient. The staff were kind, welcoming, and always ready to help with anything I needed. Their hospitality made the experience even better. Overall, it was a wonderful stay, and I would definitely choose Agora Kyoto Karasuma again on my next visit to Kyoto.

This was probably the best hotel I stayed at in Japan. It felt incredibly clean — guests must remove their shoes at the entrance and store them in the shoe cabinets, so everyone walks around in socks. Breakfast was impressive, with a wide selection of Japanese and Western dishes and even matcha latte. The onsen was outstanding: there were at least four pools, so it never felt crowded, plenty of shower cubicles, and a steam room with a TV. After each onsen session we could enjoy free ice cream or ice lollies and a bowl of ramen. The rooms blend modern design with traditional tatami style. The beds were firm and very comfortable, and although our room was on the smaller side (typical for Japan), it had everything we needed. We were also treated to POLA hair and body products in the bathroom and the onsen. I’d definitely recommend this hotel and can’t wait to return next time I’m in town.

A Perfect Blend of Tradition and Comfort in Kyoto During my recent stay at Saka Hotel Kyoto, I was immediately struck by its peaceful surroundings and inviting atmosphere. Located in the charming Higashiyama neighborhood, it offers an ideal launching point for discovering Kyoto’s historic sites. Despite being so close to famous temples and shrines, the hotel maintains a tranquil setting that feels worlds away from the bustle of the city. From check-in onward, I was warmly welcomed by the professional and attentive team. Their devotion to creating a memorable guest experience was evident in every conversation. Whether offering sightseeing suggestions or promptly assisting with any need, they made me feel completely at home. My room showcased an attractive fusion of modern design and traditional Japanese elements. Soft earth tones, tasteful décor, and well-chosen furnishings created an atmosphere that was both chic and peaceful. The spacious bathtub, in particular, stood out as the perfect place to unwind after wandering Kyoto’s centuries-old streets. Although I didn’t have a chance to sample the hotel’s dining options, every other aspect of my stay was faultless. The exquisite decor, the serene environment, and the staff’s unparalleled service exceeded all my expectations. If you’re seeking a sophisticated, relaxing retreat that still allows you to easily explore Kyoto’s rich cultural heritage, Saka Hotel Kyoto is an excellent choice.

This was my second stay, and it was just as clean and comfortable as before. Though, I'm not sure why there was no Oden for breakfast this time. What I love most is the hotel's location. It's right next to Kyoto Station, yet surprisingly quiet, and also very close to the 206 bus stop, which takes you directly to attractions like Kiyomizu-dera Temple. After a long day of sightseeing, a soak in the bath on the 10th floor is incredibly relaxing. We rented kimonos and chose to return them at the hotel; the front desk was very helpful in taking care of them, so the service was excellent. You can also rent curling irons, but a 3000 JPY cash deposit is required.

My dad took the kids here and raved about it! He said it was super clean, the garden design was beautiful, and the breakfast buffet was great. You have to change into slippers and socks when you enter, and they provide yukatas. You can even choose your own pillow! They have both public and private hot springs. We didn't have to wait long for the private one, and after your soak, you get free ice cream. They even offer complimentary noodles for a late-night snack. The location is really convenient too.

This is an excellent hotel! While it's a bit pricey, the service and quality of the stay are absolutely worth it. The front desk staff were all incredibly friendly during check-in and even upgraded our room. We had a fantastic view of the sports ground, and the room itself was spacious. The bathroom with its wet/dry separation was very comfortable overall. Breakfast was also a pleasant surprise. Although the Western breakfast only offered one main dish, it tasted great. The buffet section had fresh squeezed juice and a good variety of salads. My only complaint was the lack of meat; it was all vegetarian. The only meat options were smoked meats like bacon and eggs. I also tried the Japanese breakfast one morning, and it was equally exquisite. Each small dish even had a label indicating the origin of its ingredients. In short, the breakfast presentation was 10/10. One thing to note is that there were hardly any Asian faces; about 90% of the guests were from Europe, America, or the Middle East. Additionally, the hotel has an exclusive lounge for guests with a good selection of drinks and mainly rice cracker snacks that go well with alcohol. Most importantly, the location is super convenient. It's within walking distance to attractions like Kamo River and incredibly close to Shijo shopping street. Everything for shopping and sightseeing is within walking distance. I'll definitely stay here again!

Love the location.. The hotel was amazing, comfortable bed with complete amenities. They even have a microwave and drink machine for water and also vending machine. The hotel provide a smart pack to compress ur clothes for packing. 300 yen for 3 minutes which i think its very convinient. Last but not least, it is just next to avanti and bus terminal from kansai airport. Highly Recommended 😀

MMaverickWhen we first got there, there wasn’t any staff at the reception, apparently to call them, you would have to pick up the phone on the front desk. Although the staff speak limited English, they are friendly and accommodating. There was PLENTY of space in the room, being able to open 2 big luggage’s with room to walk around. There was the minor inconvenience of having to pack our belongings and put to a side for check out every day, and check in again. The breakfast of 2 options (Western/Japanese style) was a tad bit too salty for our liking. We had the chance to utilise the roof top onsen, and which was quite a refreshing experience. The location is 10/15mins away from the nearest train station, so not very convenient when we were pushing our luggages to the hotel.

PPhillip SawThe room is big and it has all the amenities eg. TV, Big bed, jacuzzi, well equipped toilet, etc. All the toiletries are beyond our needs. Movies are free and breakfast are really cheap. The only drawback is the nearest metro station is 1 km away. But the room is value for money. Highly recommended.
