Overall Experience: ⭐⭐⭐⭐½ (4.5/5)
Overall, I had a very pleasant stay at Citadines Tanjung Tokong. The check-in process at Level 2 was smooth and fast, with excellent service from all staff members. No deposit was required, which made the process even more convenient.
The room was very clean, spacious and comfortable. The bed and pillows were soft and provided a good night’s sleep. The room was well-equipped with two air-conditioning units (bedroom and kitchen area), Smart TV, ironing facilities, refrigerator, work desk, dining table and sufficient power outlets.
The bathroom was spotless with strong water pressure and consistent hot and cold water temperature. Toiletries and towels were fully provided.
Hotel facilities were great. The swimming pool on Level 15 offers a nice city and bay view. A gym, washing machines, vending machines and towels are also available. WiFi speed was fast and suitable for work purposes. Elevators were fast, clean and comfortable.
Minor downsides include some noise from traffic and ambulance sirens, as well as a slightly slow automated parking system during peak hours.
The location is very convenient with easy access to food and nearby stores such as 99 Speedmart, Lotus’s and Happy Mart.
Overall, this hotel offers excellent value for money under RM500. Highly suitable for solo travellers, business trips and small families. Would definitely stay again.

Location: Situated right by Gurney Bay, it's about a 10-15 minute walk to Gurney Plaza, or a 5-6 MYR taxi ride. Getting to the old town costs around 7 MYR by taxi. There are plenty of dining options nearby, and a small mall next door with a mini-supermarket and restaurants. You can cross the road to the beachfront for a walk or a run.
Facilities: The room was quite spacious with a great sea view, and the bedding was very comfortable. The bathroom was also huge with a separate wet and dry area. Bottled water isn't provided, but there's a purified water tap. The swimming pool is fantastic with lovely views.
Service: I was particularly impressed by a young lady and a young man at the front desk who both spoke Chinese and provided incredibly gentle and thoughtful service. They even helped us solve an awkward problem. The security guard at the entrance was also super enthusiastic, helping with luggage and always greeting us warmly. The restaurant is spacious, and breakfast offers a wide variety. The young man who makes the noodle soup, who also speaks Chinese, had an absolutely wonderful attitude.
Cleanliness: Everything was thoroughly cleaned, with no hidden spots or strange odors found anywhere.
This was the most satisfying hotel of our entire trip.
Location is just 3min walk from a Duck meat Koay Teow Teng where locals go. 15min walk from New Lane food street for dinner and lots of TSP stores that locals go to within a radius of 5 min walk. Despite near to all these nice shops, it is quiet enough to rest. The counter staff are also friendly, especially Amirul. Despite putting on mask, Amirul lots of warmth and hospitality. Truly enjoyed the stay at this hotel.
Room: can hear noise from neighbour room & toilet lighting is quite dim.
Reception: encountered at least 5 different receptionist, majority are friendly, except the 1 chinese short hair lady who was so impatient when we enquired the hotel parking rate.
Location: is in the heart of Georgetown, near to Gama supermarket, Sunday Hin bus depot market & other famous eateries.
Parking: hard to get a public parking space , in that case, have to pay & park at the hotel car park, RM 7/ day. Should have been FREE for hotel guest. 🥲
My family and I had a great stay here, though there is room for improvement.
The place looks and feels a bit dated, which adds to the charm, except for when the air conditioning makes loud noises that disrupt the peace. One of the mattresses in our suite was also a little worn, sinking in every time we sit on it. We have to admit that our suite was big and cosy for all of us, with strong WiFi connection and Netflix.
Moreover, the breakfast could be better. We opted for the stay with breakfast included, and we all were served the same Big Breakfast set. It would have been nicer to have options to choose from.
This place has potential and I might consider staying here again.
Amenities are great as usual. Check in wasn't very smooth, my room wasn't available yet at 9.30pm, no idea why.
Cleanliness could be improved. Saw some dust descending from the A/C unit upon first switching on. Some items in room 1302 are in a state of disrepair (light switches, floorboards, automatic closet lamps).
Otherwise, it's a comfortable stay.
This trip to Malaysia was a last-minute decision; I boarded the plane without even planning an itinerary. The owner was incredibly kind and even sent me their self-made Penang travel guide. Following their recommended route for the past few days has been an absolute joy. I highly recommend their sea-view rooms – the scenery is absolutely breathtaking!
Great stay & peaceful environment. Thks Ardour Lodge if gt a chance will return back stay again.
Nice room with external private bathtub & landscape pool.
Although the photos and reality were different, the window-less rooms were still adequate for comfortable staying. We stayed for 3 nights in a level 4 deluxe double room and level 3 double room, all ensuite with bathrooms. Due to the lack of exhaust fans and windows, the internal bathrooms can cause dampness and a smell but that was ok for us. A pet friendly Guesthouse (many of our neighbours had dogs but they were very quiet and well managed). Now managed by 3 service staffs who do everything. A retro but working games machine at the ground floor was a delight for my kids. Free laundry & dryer and a simple fitness corner are useful amenities. The highlight is actually the location of this guesthouse - within walking distance, there are numerous dim sum outlets, night time street foods, noodles shop, bakery and a sports bar just across the road. Will stay again, anytime, for my next visit.
