Great stay! The staff were friendly and welcoming, the room was clean and comfortable, and the overall service was excellent. The location was convenient, and I really enjoyed my stay. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would be happy to stay again.
Check in was smooth and quick but changed room twice to get everything right. Our first room had urine stains on the toilet, which means this room was not properly cleaned up. That was terribly disgusting to find these spots. Also, the smart TV in the first room didn't work. Our second room was find but has no bathtub as requested. Changed to the third room and finally get the okay one with great AC, working TV and cleanness. It was our first time stayed in a 5-star hotel in NZ and was surprised the standard is quite low compared to the other 5 stars in Asia. Has small heated pool accommodating 6 people max. Swimming pool and sauna were fine but steam room didn't work. Service okay and great breakfast. Will consider the other place next time.

A family of four shared a three bedroom villa.
- spacious and quiet environment.
- friendly and helpful staff.
- food is delicious.
- the only problem is hot water would not be enough if you prolly be the last one to take the shower.
- worth staying.
This is the most amazing hotel in our New Zealand trip. Taopo city has a good impression. The hotel is modern in design, the room is very spacious, and the facilities are complete. From the bath to the bedding, they all reflect high-end quality. There is also a swimming pool from low heat. It's a pity that I only stayed for one night. I also want to say that the hotel reception staff is very enthusiastic!

The hotel is close to the lake. The owner is Chinese and very friendly. He upgraded the room so that you can directly see Lake Taupo and gave us milk. The facilities in the room are very complete and the kitchen utensils can fully meet the needs. It is a very good stay experience. I will come again next time if I have the chance.

Great
GGuest UserHotel is trading on its name. Place is in desperate need of an upgrade to rooms and many facilities. No air conditioning to our hotel room, room had a ceiling fan and a cheap pedestal fan. Reasonable breakfast buffet selection, though several hot selections were cold, coffee machine broken and apple juice borderline off. Heated lap pool full of leaves and lot broken and slippery tiles around pool. Room bathroom was very dated and worn. Bed pillows were of poor quality. Rooms not very soundproof. Staff were friendly so no bad reflection on them, it’s down to management and ownership to make this a hotel to miss until significant upgrades, maintenance and improvements are completed. For the price we paid we could have stayed at many other nearby establishments, but chose Wairakei because of its name and perception that it was an upmarket establishment. We were wrong. Would not be rushing back to stay again.
GGuest UserThe location was ideal.
Although we went to use the in room telephone, it was not connected, and there was no sign of a connection cable.....
We had an 11a.m. checkout when I reserved the room.
On the information sheet we got on arrival, check out was 10a.m.
When we quiered the conflict. The receptionist made it sound like she was doing us a favor 🤣
GGuest UserWe stayed as a family of 4 the rooms were emaculately clean, the beds were beautiful and very generous sizing, local milk in beauitful glass bottles connecting the local rural communiy was a great touch. All appliances were new and whisper quiet, which meant we all slept very well. Glenys gave us plenty of advice on where to take the children, local hot pools were a hit and the domain next door with playground gardens and basket ball courts for free family fun, the exploding geyser was great entertainment, very handy location to all the walking tracks up mt Te aroha, supermarket and shops easy walking distance from motel.
The service was second to none.
Rod and Glenys were amazing hosts who went above and beyond to make sure we all had the best stay.
We had car trouble, and they opened their garage and time to help us get back on the road forever grateful.Truely, beautiful caring people.
We will be back again soon and have told all our friends and family of our new favorite motel

GGuest UserThis B&B is in a very good location, with convenient parking. There is a small yard where children can play happily. The public area is equipped with a kitchen refrigerator, dining table and other facilities. The mattress is very comfortable and has strong support. It is the most comfortable mattress we have ever slept on in New Zealand. We didn't plan to leave, but we had no choice because the schedule was too tight, so we had to leave. However, this is really the most comfortable mattress we have ever slept on, no doubt about it. The only thing that needs to be improved may be the bedding.
GGuest UserThe accommodation was modern, immaculately clean, and provided a high level of comfort. The cleaning staff excelled, delivering service that surpassed expectations. Overall, the experience was positive. However, it would have been beneficial to be informed in advance that the check-in office is located offsite, requiring approximately a 4 minute drive from the main premises. This information would have streamlined the arrival process.
MManWe booked via a travel agent and fully paid. When we checked-in, the staff knew that we already paid via the travel agent. After we checked out, we are shocked that the hotel double charged the room fee to our credit card without informing us. The receptionists are apathy and unhelpful. We are disappointed with Novotel.
GGuest UserBasically, this hotel (inn) has everything you want, but the quality is not high. The biggest advantage is that it is very convenient if you are traveling by car. The fact that you can park your car at the door is very good. Don’t count the other things. , which is also good. There is a large supermarket opposite which is convenient for shopping!
GGuest User⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4/5 — Comfortable, Clean, and Great for a Short Stay
This isn’t a fancy or high-end hotel, but it’s definitely a great place to spend a couple of nights—especially if you’re visiting Rotorua and Taupō. The rooms are clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, which is really all you need for a short stay when you’re out exploring most of the day.
Don’t expect 5-star facilities or luxury features, but the overall experience is solid and very safe too. The stay was pleasant, the environment was tidy, and it offered good value for money. A reliable and convenient option for travellers passing through or wanting a simple base to explore the area.
Rreturn visitorA tiny motel, has basic amenities. Didn't know there's a communal kitchen until we were leaving.
It's a good stop over point, but most of the town closes either early or has long weekends, so make sure you have supplies beforehand. When we arrived there there was no reception, had a number and person to ring, the entrance is a bit tricky ”around the back”...yep that's exactly what it is.
