"Hotel located 5-10 mins walk from Solihull town centre so convenient for plenty of places to eat / drink. Easy to find and sign posted from major roads. Car-parking was adequate - £10 a day and must register at reception. Hotel has a lot of conference rooms so seems to cater largely to corporate guests. Hotel reception was clean and modern but corridors were very untidy and didn’t really give a good impression - dirty glasses left outside doors to our rooms, bed linen piled in corners, trays with food left on corridor floors etc. Had 2 interconnected standard rooms. Room decor was modern and fairly well maintained. Comfy bed with plenty of pillows. Choice of teas / coffee / biscuits etc. Purposely booked rooms with air con due to heatwave - 1 room was fine, other had broken air con. Tried to phone reception but no answer so had to trek to reception several times after this was supposedly reset. Eventually given new rooms but manager who dealt with the issue was not very apologetic and no help was offered with luggage etc. Could be a much better hotel if care was taken with attention to tidiness of public areas and more attentive staff."

"I chose this hotel for its proximity to the University of Birmingham, where I was dropping off my child for school. It's actually the university's conference center, which is very convenient. The place is clean and the environment is excellent. There's even a bar on the first floor, which was a nice bonus. The breakfast was also very good!"

The staff were warm, professional, and attentive, the room was spacious, spotless, and very comfortable, and the location was perfect for exploring the city. Breakfast was excellent with a great selection, and the facilities were well maintained. Outstanding service and hospitality throughout—we would gladly stay here again and highly recommend it."

"Firstly, the staff we encountered were lovely, very accommodating and helpful. The reception entrance was promising, being bright and modern with a very pleasant receptionist and smooth check in. However, our room lacked appeal, comfort or anything that made one wish to stay in it for longer than a night. To be fair, we were asked twice on check in, if we would like to move to a different floor. I jokingly asked if there was a problem with the room we'd been allocated but was told no. We were allocated Room 7. Whilst it appeared clean to the best the facilities allowed, it was unpleasant. The bottom of the bathroom door appeared water damaged and rotten. The sink was cracked. The radiator was rusted by urine splashes as situated beside the toilet and the shower was situated in a recess with no curtain or screen, so quickly spilled on to the floor making the bath mat soaked. The lock on the bathroom door didn't work. There was no hair dryer. Only one USB point within the very small TV which only charged if it was on. Being on the ground floor, our window opened out on to the narrow walk way and one poor man walked into it on his way to reception. SatNav instructions take you to a dead end further down the road and several attempts at finding our way around the God awful roundabout eventually led us to a very small parking area at the front of the hotel. Breakfast at 9.00 pm was initially disappointing. One plate was available, no bread for the toaster, no milk for the cereals. One sausage, no beans, no bacon. More food did eventually appear, as did plates, and it was very nice. The croissants and pastries were lovely too. The coffee machine was good. As mentioned, the staff were very good and we requested an iron which was bought to us quickly with a board by a lovely young man. The bed was awful. Rock hard and not much comfort from a meagre duvet that was so thin that initially we thought it had been forgotten. Anyway, one night, cheap and basic. Served its purpose but would look elsewhere and pay more. Think we were just unlucky."

"This hotel was absolutely perfect! Me and my daughter booked this hotel to see Louis Tomlinson at the Utilita. It was perfect location. 10 minutes from the train station, 5-10 minutes from the arena. There is also a lot of night life so we managed to find a nice place just across the road to have some food and drinks. The room was lovely too! We had two double beds so we managed to sleep very well after the concert! Will definitely stay again if we have another trip to Birmingham!"

"The good Great Location: The location was excellent and very convenient for our stay. Spacious Rooms: The rooms were impressively large and provided plenty of space. Excellent Amenities: The room was fully packed with all the amenities we could possibly need. Large Sofa Bed: The inclusion of a large, accommodating sofa bed was a great bonus. Needs improvement Outdated Property: The building is a very old property and it shows its age. Limited Breakfast: The breakfast options were very limited. For a brand like Crowne Plaza, there should at least be a live counter offering fresh, made-to-order egg varieties. No Dedicated Concierge or Valet: There is no official concierge or valet service. While the receptionist did call someone to help us with our luggage, a hotel of this caliber and price point should have these services standing by. Paid Parking: Guests are charged for parking, which is frustrating; parking should definitely be free when staying at such an expensive hotel. Unmaintained Grounds: The pond at the back of the hotel was completely full of algae and looked disgusting."

"Not great. Two different rooms both sick on carpets and aircon not working. First room was a disabled room. Massive bit hot aircon wouldn’t work and massive yellow stain on carpet next to bed. Asked to move. Second room aircon not working controller kept turning itself off complained. Was told it would be working once they had fixed it downstairs in back office. As I went out I was assured it had been fixed. Came back at 3am and still noticed working. As I’d arrived in the evening it wasn’t obvious but in the morning I noticed the blackout curtain is perished and falling apart and there was sick on the floor beside the bed. Toilet cistern ran all night as well which was so annoying. Mould in the shower and screws coming out of the frame. Breakfast was poor. Almost everything overcooked, bacon not edible it was that hard. Really disappointed and will go back to Travelodge."
