Our third stay at The Feversham Arms Hotel. We were allocated a pool suite which was excellent. Apparently the hotel is up for sale, the administrators have been brought in. Hopefully the new owners will be found and after a few tweaks here and there the hotel will be five stars.
Rustige lodge nabij York city centrum.
Goede busverbinding direct voor de deur.
Maar ook slechts 25 minuten lopen vanaf het centrum.
De kamer is eenvoudig en de badkamer iets de klein maar voldoet aan alle verwachtingen.
Nice hotel room with a nice view. Only downside was the parking space was quite small. Finding parking was difficult. Overall, I enjoyed my stay very much.
Rural England, traditional place. The characteristic is that the front view of the house is very good. When the weather is good, drinking beer in front of the house in the evening is definitely a pleasure. It is also a good place to see the stars at night, with a wide view.
Other rules are quite satisfactory, traditional inn, meals are OK, dinner is eaten, the thousand-level amount is large, and the tube is full. Did not eat breakfast.
The highlight here is the open space scenery in front of the house. I will definitely have a beer here next time. This time it was too cold and windy.
Get off the train at York and literally straight into this fab hotel. A step back in time with beautiful lounges to eat and drink in. Stunning gardens. Beautiful feel of Xmas with stunning trees and decorations. The New Year's Eve main meal was lovely, but would give the starter a miss, valute not for us. More plus's than negative's. Garden view room was cold with old sash windows, but comfy bed and clean room. Lovely view
Modern, cosy apartment with free parking just outside York city centre.
A comfortable bedroom with a king-size bed, a bright airy lounge with a sofa bed, a TV and dining area, a fully equipped kitchen, and a modern clean bathroom with a shower on the bath.
Perfect base for exploring York, visiting the universities, or business travel. Superb city transport links. 10-minute bus ride to the city centre. 30-minute walk to the city centre’s riverside Night Strip.
1. Check-out Time Is Too Early
In my experience, most hotels—whether five-star establishments or smaller boutique hotels—allow guests to check out around 12:00 noon. However, for such a large hotel with a rich historical background, the check-out time of 10:00 a.m. feels unreasonably early. It is particularly inconvenient for guests who wish to have breakfast, as the kitchen closes at 9:00 a.m., making the entire morning feel rushed. This aspect was disappointing and should be seriously reconsidered.
2. Luggage Storage After Check-out
As a frequent traveler who has stayed in many hotels across different countries, I have never encountered a situation where luggage storage after check-out was not available. Typically, guests are allowed to leave their bags temporarily while exploring the city and return later to collect them. Unfortunately, this was not possible at this hotel.
I found this quite surprising, especially considering the size of the property. As a result, I had to carry a large suitcase while visiting the beach and dining outside, which significantly affected my experience. This policy made me feel that guests are not sufficiently accommodated after check-out, and it was quite disappointing.
3. Room Facilities
I understand and respect that this hotel is nearly 200 years old, and I have no issue with its age or character. Overall, the room facilities were acceptable; however, the water taps could benefit greatly from modernization. The current rotary-style taps are difficult to operate, requiring considerable force to turn on and off. This could be especially challenging for elderly guests.
Additionally, when I entered my room, I noticed that water was already running slightly due to the tap not being fully closed. If the hotel were to gradually replace these taps with more user-friendly designs, it would not only improve guest comfort but also help conserve water in the long run. I believe this would be a worthwhile investment.

Very Good
YYeziA small villa, the room is clean and tidy, very warm and quiet, the service is very good and warm, we live on the 3rd floor, there is no elevator, the suitcase is the store to help get the room, parking is also convenient. The environment of Zhou is good, and it is convenient to travel. It takes 20 minutes to walk along the river to see the tourist attractions in the downtown area. Only breakfast is very expensive. Two nights a day is a pleasant experience.

GGuest UserAn adorable hotel in York, I booked another night because we loved it and wanted to relax.
It’s just a short walk away from the main old town Centre, wasn’t a problem even in the rain.
Very clean and quaint decorations, love the 4-poster bed and the towel warmer. Also provides bathrobes, slippers and even a complimentary snack room. We could go grab some chips in the middle of the night if we wanted to. We didn’t eat, but we had some cocktails at the bar downstairs and coffee in the morning. Service is great.
BBonniegiftYork is a small city with history, and this hotel inherits the city culture. A separate British courtyard with a tall black gate. Friendly uncle-level receptionist. The hotel is a bit old, but well maintained. The room has a kettle, necessary toiletries, a shower that can be opened in multiple ways, and snacks. The hygiene is also OK, and the quality of the bedding is also OK. In short, it is a good experience
GGuest UserNice hotel room with a nice view. Only downside was the parking space was quite small. Finding parking was difficult. Overall, I enjoyed my stay very much.
GGuest UserStayed one night because of the marathon the next day. The staffs were friendly and procedures like Checkin are convenient. Great location, close to the station and hotel. However, the inability of the air conditioner to heat up made the room less comfortable. But I stillI had a good rest here and set a PB in the race the next day, so it was a good stay overall.
LLouise HikkThe hotel is perfectly situated for exploring sights of Harrogate everything very nearby!
From checking in and our room available early with welcome cookies which were warm and amazing to checkout the staff could not be more helpful!
The room was on the third floor clean, tidy and well presented.
The gym and spa facilities were all good and nice to use and relax especially on a Sunday evening!
The breakfast was buffet with a selection of hot and cold options the parcel machine was my favourite fresh pancakes which were delicious!
This hotel is huge but it's well maintained clean tidy and such an enjoyable experience for our anniversary!
GGuest UserI stayed at the DoubleTree by Hilton York for a short visit and, while the location was reasonably convenient, the overall experience fell short of expectations for a Hilton-branded hotel.
I was upgraded to a room located across the car park from the main building, accessed via stairs and without central heating. Instead, the room relied on standing portable heaters, which wasn’t ideal — especially given the wet weather and the need to walk outside to reach the room. The room itself felt quite tired and dated, with noticeably creaky floorboards both inside the room and from neighbouring rooms, which made it hard to fully relax.
The location is decent enough, but if you’re travelling by public transport there are better areas of York to stay in that offer easier access and a nicer overall setting.
I didn’t try the breakfast, as there are plenty of good local options nearby, which I enjoyed instead, so I don’t feel I missed out. One small disappointment was that coffee wasn’t available outside of breakfast hours.
Overall, with so many good accommodation options in York, I’m not likely to stay here again.
GGuest UserLovely welcome at reception. Really helpful with parking.
The room was large, lovely and warm and had every thing we needed.
The most beautiful setting for breakfast again with friendly and helpful staff. Loved the decorated Christmas trees.
The hotel was in an ideal location for Bettys and the shops.
HHAIHUI GUOWe had a fantastic stay at this hotel! The front desk staff were incredibly helpful and friendly, making check-in a breeze and offering great recommendations. We loved the convenient on-site laundry facilities, which came in handy during our trip. The location is perfect – just a short walk from the river, with stunning views that made our evenings truly memorable. Highly recommend for anyone looking for comfort and scenic beauty!
